Welcome true believers to X-Men Horoscopes where each week our host Lodro Rinzler is in conversation with a special guest to discuss the X-Men issue that aligns with a significant month and year from their life and what that issue reveals about their future. This week we are joined by Scott Koblish who has done just about every job imaginable in the comics industry, although fans of this podcast likely know him as the artist for Deadpool, X-Men '92 and those amazing 60th anniversary of the X-Men covers. We talk about the first comic he ever read - Uncanny X-Men 138 - which is a perfect onramp for anyone wanting to know about the 1960s/1970s X-Men. Also in this episode: Cyclops can fit his life inside a small laundry bag the funeral of Jean Grey! Cyclops longs to be as emotionless as Cerebro Colossus is necessary...for standing in the background or being in the foreground if you need to punch someone the classic moment where Cyclops convinces all of the Sentinels to go fight the sun Kitty Pryde shows up to the first day of school in a b*tch t-shirt What does any of this mean for Scott's future? Well, this episode is one part X-Men Horoscope, one part insider look at how the comics industry works. Tune in for more! Scott Koblish is an American Comic-book Artist who has worked on hundreds of comics for Marvel, Disney, Image, Dark Horse, Valiant, Boom and DC Comics. At Marvel, Scott worked on nearly every title they publish and just listing those titles would provide such a ridiculously long set of words that gazing upon it would make your eyes glaze over and your head hurt if he subjected you to it, but he had a 6-year run on Deadpool, where he co-created Deadpool 2099, so at least something he drew will likely outlive his heirs. At DC, he pencilled and inked Batman: Gotham Nights, DC: Primal Age, Titans: Giant, Aquaman: the Becoming, and Flash Annual 2024 and How To Draw DC, and worked with George Pérez as an inker on Wonder Woman, Worlds' Finest, The Brave And The Bold and Final Crisis: Legion of 3 Worlds and inked Keith Giffen's OMAC run. He is also the author of the book The Many Deaths of Scott Koblish. More of Lodro Rinzler's work can be found here and here and you can follow the podcast on Instagram at xmenpanelsdaily where we post X-Men comic panels...daily. The League is back on Earth, but they encounter some things they could not expect! Talking Gorillas, mind control, and a hidden city in Africa are just some of the surprises. Gorilla City is protected by a force field that makes it look like a mountain. The city is populated with evolved Gorillas with advanced technology. One of their own, Grodd, has made a play for power but was thwarted, and so he escapes to the U.S. With the help of scientist Dr. Sasha Corwin, he is using mind control to build the Gorilla City shield in Central City. The Flash and Green Lantern are drawn in to the situation, but a "run before you know the details" Flash gets caught unaware, and falls under mind controll. Fortunately, Solovar, a good Gorilla from Gorilla City, has come to stop Grodd and the three of them team up in the pursuit. Grodd gets the jump on them though, and is able to turn on his force field causing Central City to disappear! Batman and the rest of the league find Gorilla city and try to find out what is going on but are captured. Grodd fires nuclear missiles at the city and turns off their shield. Green Lantern and the rest of the League stop the missiles just in time. Flash uses his super speed to rewire Grodd's mind control helmet to fry his brain. The League is thanked and Grodd is put in a zoo, but for how long? Hey there zany ones! My pal from across the pond, Mart Gray is back! He brought along the first ever issue of the Brave and the Bold he ever read! Hey there, zany ones! My good pal Mart Gray (the Too Dangerous for a Girl Blog) is back, and we've got a fantastic issue to cover! One of my favorite things in comics, is when writers try to script dialogue from another country. Haney has some fun moments and some ridiculous ones as well, but Mart and I have a fun time sifting through it all! As usual, if you'd like to leave any feedback for the show, you can do so through email at Magazinesandmonsters@gmail.com or to me on Twitter @Billyd_licious or on the show's FB page (just search Magazine and Monsters). You can find Mart on social media @martgray and definitely visit his blog at Dangermart.blog (Too Dangerous for a Girl! - relax, it's a line from a comic from the 1960s). Comics creator Matt Harding is living the dream. He's writing a story for the new issue of Batman: The Brave and the Bold, issue 10. I got a chance to catch up with him prior to its release to hear all about his experience with the iconic character and what it has been like to get a chance to touch on Batman's legacy. Matt also works for Oni Press who recently announced the relaunch of the old EC line. He got to dish on how it was unveiled to the Oni crew and a little bit about what we can expect from them in the coming months. Hey there zany ones! It's time to take a walk on the tech side, as Batman and The Atom must find a hacker! Luckily for me, though, Delvin from the Longbox Crusade is here with me to help decode this crazy story! We'll try to figure out if these bad guys are German or Swiss, and if computers control traffic lights in 1979. Plus, we might need to call the X-Men, as we have a Trask in our midst! On the 228th edition of The Original Batman-On-Film.com Podcast, BOF's Peter Verra and Justin Kowalski discuss James Gunn's recent comment that there will be two Batmans on film at the same time as well as their thoughts on the direction of the New DCU.
BIG THING COMIC BOOK! https://bit.ly/493Er9i On today's episode of the show, we discussed the new Supergirl casting. House of the Dragon star Milly Alcock has been cast as the Girl of Steele. Is this a good call, bad call? Speaking of Kryptonians, Matthew Vaughn, who is directing the Film Argyle is on a press tour and he talked about doing a Superman movie. His take and pitch was interesting. He said he would like to do a Henry Cavill Superman lead Elseworlds film based off of the Mark Millar comic Red Son. Will this ever happen? Would Henry Cavill ever return to the DC universe? We discussed the latest Daredevil photos. It seems like they are connecting way more to the Netflix series than ever.what will the next few DC movies be? Will it be Brave And The Bold with Batman and Robin? Will it be Supergirl? Will it be something different? This and more on today's episode of The Big Thing Capes and Cowls with Kristian Harloff and Winston A. Marshall. Batman has been around for a very very long time, and in recent years it seems like we have had no shortage of actors dawn the cape and cowl. With DC now under the leadership of James Gunn there have already been many updates made public about what we can expect. One of those is the soon to be seemingly coexistence of two very different portrayals of Batman. On the one hand we have Robert Pattinson's “The Batman” and then at some point we will have a new symbol of justice for the other upcoming projects such as “The Brave and the Bold”. The big question on everyones mind is… who? This week we discuss to big names that have been tossed around for a future shot at the billionaire playboy role, and how “The Batman part 2” is already breaking a smilingly long held tradition amongst the caped crusaders movies.
