It was December 2018 when Dennis Hogan recorded a points win over Jamie Weetch and set himself up to fight on the world stage. The first of those was a world title fight against Jamie Munguia for the WBC junior middleweight title. The records show a points loss for Hogan but the boxing world widely acknowldeged that Dennis won that fight. In the aftermath and uponreflection - Danny Dimas, Paul Keegan and the team at DDP Promotions weighed up all the offers, considered all avenues and Team Hoganstepped up to face Jermall Charlo at the Barclay's Centre in New York last December (2019) for the WBC Middleweight title. A HUGE ask - a calculated risk which may not have paid off in the ring. But Dennis joins us again to discuss all of that, the fights themselves and theoff shoot of that calculated risk.Joining the podcast for the first time is newly turned pro Ryan O'Rourke. Ryan had quite a successful amateur career where he won nuermous boxcups, represented Ireland and travelled the world in the amateur vest. It's one of those weekends some Leitrim sports coaches might be wishing fell foul of the horrendous weather conditions across the country with defeats for the footballers, hurlers, ladies and U20 sides in gaelic games while Sligo Rovers and Manor Rangers were also beaten over the weekend. Longford Town and Sligo Rugby did brighten up an otherwise dreary weekend locally. We'll hear from manager Terry Hyland after their disappointing second half performance saw a one point lead turned to a eight point defeat for the Leitrim side. Ryan O'Rourke talks to us about what it's like to be back in the starting team after extended injuries and Shane Moran on the flipside of missing out on the first 15 as he makes a second half appearance for the team. Hugh Donnelly will talk us through the wind affected game in Cooley as his ladies side were beaten by a single point by the now league leaders Louth. He speaks about the removal of whatever safety net was there to reach the league final later in the campaign. Treasurer of the Hurling Board, Paddy O'Connor, updates us on the hurler's outing against Sligo in what has been a disappointing campaign so far. We get chatting about the outlook as Leitrim have one eye on the championship season in a few weeks. Gary Donohoe, manager of the U20 footballers, chats after a disappointing encounter with Galway where the opponents just found an extra gear in the second half to stretch their three point lead to a much more comfortable margin by the end of the game. He tells us about some of the talent in the squad. We also hear from Sligo Rovers manager Liam Buckley after his side's defeat to St. Patrick's Athletic on Friday evening, their disappointing start to the season and how Leitrim's own Niall Morahan has been their stand out performer so far. Finally Aodh Dervin of Longford Town chats to Breifne about being back on the field after a lengthy off season, getting on the scoresheet and getting up and running against Shamrock Rovers second string on Saturday evening.

This week we're at Ballinaglera GAA Summer Festival finding out more about throwing the sheave, welly throwing, shearing sheep and honing our tractor and digger skills. Sponsored by: Drumkeerin Family Community Festival As well as guessing the weight of a lamb, rolling a round bale along a track and trying to drive a nail with the fewest swings of a hammer there were a few football matches, running races, sheep dog trials and plenty of food and drink going around as the children tired themselves out on the bouncing castles dotted around the festival site at Ballinaglera GAA Club. I spoke to some of the event organisers Thomas Forde and Enda Gilrane as well as members of the community of all ages participating and attending the festival. Leitrim star Ryan O'Rourke was the main attraction as the guest referee for the kids games through the afternoon, with former Cavan county player Ailish Cornyn coaching the local female hopes, we caught up with both of them after the games. There was plenty to see and do and I'm sure the next half hour or so will give you a feel of the great community spirit that was very evident on Sunday afternoon.

Episode 62You have heard of it as more and more filmmakers talk about making movies with smartphones. There are countless short films being made every day but there are not enough good features shot with smartphones and that reality is coming to a close soon as more films like, “Blue Moon” are emerging. Director of Photography Ryan O’Rourke is the person behind the iPhone 7 camera who shot, “Blue Moon,” the feature length film in a very short period of time. Our guest for Episode 62 of the SBP Podcast shares a behind-the-scenes look with our listeners. Ryan is in Nelson, New Zealand, which is about 30 miles from where the film was shot.Ryan O’Rourke and I had a great discussion about his part in the filmmaking process. Ryan is from Nelson, New Zealand and he and director, Stef Harris have worked together before. After all, they both worked on the police force together. He shared many of the people involved in the film had a similar background. But hey, let’s stick to the story behind the other story: The feature film shot with iPhone that is going viral around the world. Episode 62 of the SBP Podcast is a wonderfully informational episode from a filmmaker who shot a cinematic Hollywood style film using an iPhone in a single location with a small crew of about 8 people and two reputable actors, Jed Brophy and Mark Hadlow best known for “The Hobbit.” Ryan shares the different settings he used to film with the iPhone from the native camera and the FilmicPro app. He also went on to share some in-depth details about the settings and why they were set. The settings were very helpful to Judd Resnick who edited the footage into a complete cinematic film. Ryan also shares why the anamorphic lens from Moondog Labs was instrumental in giving the footage it’s cinematic aesthetics. We go into many details about the process to make this film work and if you watch the trailer, below, you will realize that the movie’s visual and audio quality is truly cinematic. All the elements of any other film we are used to seeing in many films in theaters or streaming services online…they are there. Are you inspired?“It’s never been easier or more accessible, I suppose, to make a feature than it has now. If you’ve got a good story and you want to tell it then…the technology’s never been more enriched.” Ryan O’Rourke. If you are a filmmaker making short films and want to make a feature film, then this is one way to do it with a much lower budget. And not only is it about the budget…Ryan and I share the opportunities available to feature mobile filmmakers due to a demand in the industry.
