This Deep Dive series revisits some of our past episodes on discerning what we need as moms, and then asking for it confidently. Most of us know about Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs, the pyramid pattern through which human needs and motivations generally move upward. We can't worry about what's at the upper levels of the pyramid until and unless the more basic needs at the bottom of the pyramid– food, warmth, safety– are met first. Leslie Forde, founder of Mom's Hierarchy of Needs, has rethought that pyramid for the way we live our lives as mothers. There's a reason there's not enough bandwidth in our lives for fun and connection and self-actualization. Mom's Hierarchy of Needs provides moms with products, research and community to reclaim time from their never-done to-do lists. In this episode, Leslie explains: Why mom's hierarchy of needs is a little different than Maslow's When and why your hierarchy of needs might shift How to prioritize your career, healthy relationships, and self-care in your own hierarchy Leslie says that it's important to realize your health and wellbeing is equal in importance to your children's health and wellbeing, and once you internalize that, you can start to make room for your own needs without feeling guilty or frivolous. On this episode of The Bandwich Tapes, I sit down with singer and songwriter Lila Forde for a conversation that feels like it's unfolding mid-song, equal parts instinct, craft, and heart. I actually discovered Lila in the most “Bandwich” way possible: while preparing for my episode with Larry Goldings, I heard her voice in a video and immediately texted a few musician friends saying, “You need to hear this singer.” That moment led to this conversation.Lila shares how her collaboration with Larry Goldings has been developing, and the creative process behind it: record everything, follow the spark, and build outward from the accidental moments that feel alive. Hearing her describe that approach, trusting discovery instead of forcing results, made me even more excited about what they're creating together. We spend a lot of time talking about voice, not range or technique, but identity. Lila recalls a powerful moment from John Legend during her time on The Voice: "Don't try to out-sing anyone… just be Lila." That idea opens up a deeper conversation about influence versus imitation, the pressure to fit into genre boxes, and the constant temptation to chase whatever sound the internet is rewarding in the moment.Lila's musical roots run deep, from classical piano at home to years in the Seattle Girls Choir, and later jazz studies that reshaped how she hears harmony and melody. She explains how ear training and solfege still influence her songwriting today, and why understanding just a little bit of theory can unlock creative freedom for singers. We also talk honestly about the gig-life reality that many musicians know well: some of your biggest growth happens when nobody is paying attention. For Lila, that meant years of hotel-lobby gigs, four hours a night, five nights a week, where she learned to experiment, take risks, and build a durable musical voice. We close by talking about her debut album Vessel, recorded live with the band in just three days, and how she's stepping into a bigger creative leadership role as she works on her next record.Key TakeawaysAuthenticity defines artistic voice — the goal isn't to out-sing others, but to sound like yourself.Creative discovery often comes from accidents — capturing and following spontaneous musical moments can lead to powerful ideas.Influence is different from imitation — artists grow by absorbing influences while protecting their own identity.Musical training builds creative vocabulary — ear training, harmony, and theory can open doors for singers.Gig experience shapes real musicianship — long, quiet gigs often provide the space to experiment and grow.Recording live captures energy — tracking Vessel with the band in three days preserved the immediacy of the music.Leadership evolves with each project — Lila is stepping further into the creative driver's seat with her next record.Music from the EpisodeTemptation - Lila FordeAll I Expected - Lila FordeBrick by Brick - Lila FordeAbout the PodcastThe Bandwich Tapes is a podcast hosted by Brad Williams, featuring conversations with musicians, composers, producers, and creative thinkers about their musical journeys. Making a Scene Presents Gerry Casey's Interview with Keith Forde of Linkwells Linkwells are a four-piece indie-rock band from the scenic town of Malvern, quickly gaining attention for a sound that puts melody and classic songwriting front and center. Their music combines the anthemic lift of Britpop with a sharper modern indie edge, creating songs that feel built for singalongs without losing their bite. It's a style that has earned comparisons to The Stone Roses, Oasis, The Verve, and Stereophonics—big hooks, driving guitars, and choruses that land with real purpose. http://www.makingascene.org

Every once in a while, you come across a player whose timeline doesn't make sense.A 6'2 post with elite footwork, natural touch, and a consistent double-double presence… who's only been playing basketball for a few years. That's Love Forde. In this episode of SportsLifeTalk – You Got Next (Savage Season), we sit down with the Oregon standout from Nelson High School and Nike EYBL's Cal Stars program to break down one of the most unique rising stories in women's basketball today — from picking up the game during COVID to becoming one of the most productive and intriguing bigs in her class. And trust… this one is different.Love didn't grow up in the typical basketball pipeline. There were no early AAU circuits or national rankings tied to her name. Her journey started during the pandemic, when she would head to a neighborhood court, watch Kyrie Irving highlights on her phone, and recreate moves on her own.No spotlight. No pressure. Just work. That work turned into opportunity. After joining her first team, Love quickly developed under strong coaching and earned her way into elite competition, eventually landing with Cal Stars — one of the most respected AAU programs in the country. From there, everything accelerated. Now standing 6'2, Love has built a game centered around efficiency and control. She keeps it simple and effective — strong footwork, drop steps, hooks, physical finishes — but has the ability to expand when needed. Her game isn't flashy for the sake of attention. It's effective for the sake of winning. And that shows up every night. What separates Love isn't just her ability to score — it's her ability to impact the game without forcing it. She plays with a calm, composed demeanor, rarely sped up, yet consistently produces at a high level. Double-doubles have become routine, and her presence in the paint changes how teams approach the game.At Nelson High School, she helped lead the program to historic success, including a conference championship, a deep state playoff run, and the first trophy appearance in school history. That impact matters. And it's only growing. On the AAU circuit, Love continues to elevate her game with Cal Stars, competing against elite national talent while also gaining international experience through overseas competition — a rare opportunity that has expanded her perspective and development. When it comes to recruiting, Love keeps her priorities clear. She's not chasing hype. She's looking for a home.A program that feels like family.A coaching staff that pushes her to grow.An environment where she can be comfortable and confident.Because for her, development and fit matter more than attention. And what she brings to a program is undeniable:ConsistencyCoachabilityTeam-first mentalityPhysical presenceWinning impactOff the court, Love adds another layer to her story. She has a strong passion for motorsports, spending time working on cars and following Formula 1, with future goals that include engineering and potentially a career in motorsports or aerospace. That combination — athlete and engineer — is rare. And it shows in how she approaches the game: calculated, disciplined, and always improving.Looking ahead, Love is focused on expanding her skill set — improving her perimeter game, continuing to develop her shooting range, and becoming an even more versatile player at the next level. But more than anything, she's focused on the journey. The growth. The relationships. The opportunity to keep building.Because Love Forde isn't just a rising player. She's a developing force. And if her trajectory continues, she won't stay under the radar for long.
Send us Fan MailEp 87---In towns like Boyle, a post office was never just a place to buy stamps or send parcels. It was where news arrived before phones ever rang, where pensions were collected with a handshake and a chat, and where generations crossed the same threshold week after week. The red brick building on Shop Street stood quietly at the centre of it all, watching the town change while somehow staying the same. For decades, people stepped inside carrying letters, savings books, worries, and good news. Behind the counter for the past few decades stood a familiar face who saw Boyle through its busiest days and its quietest moments, through the shift from handwritten envelopes to digital screens, from queues at the counter to a changing world outside the door.Today both Florence and I are sitting down with the last postmaster of the old Post Office, Paul Forde. This is a conversation about community, memory, and a place that meant far more than its walls ever suggested. Because when a post office leaves a building like that, it's not just a relocation. It marks the end of an era in the life of the town. You're very welcome to the Voices of Boyle. This is episode 87 with Paul Forde. Winner of the 2025 James Laughlin Award from The Academy of American Poets When her grandmother died, poet Diamond Forde inherited a well-worn family Bible to remember her by. In The Book of Alice (Scribner, 2026), she retells the story of her grandmother's life through the framework of the only poetry Alice knew: the King James Bible. A Black woman born in the Jim Crow South, Alice joined the tide of the Great Migration when she made her exodus to New York City. She married, divorced, and raised eight children, all while struggling to define herself in an America that looks frighteningly like our own. Using found forms like recipes, a family tree, and a US Census Report alongside imagined psalms and scriptures, Diamond draws bold parallels between biblical narratives and the lived experiences of those often relegated to the margins of history. St. Raphael's led for most of their battle with Presentation Athenry, only for Ciarán Leen's goal to swing the result against them 1-21 to 1-18. Leading up to the game, St. Raphael's Loughrea manager Francis Forde has been chatting to Galway Bay FM's Darren Kelly. == Throw-in at Toomevara on Saturday is 12.30pm. We'll have the first half on our website galwaybayfm.ie, plus the second half LIVE on Galway Bay FM.
It's 9 days into the tournament and two big guns flexed their might overnight with commands performances. Starting with India, Ishan Kishan was batting on a different surface as his 77 proved decisive in the match against Pakistan. Pakistan played all six spinners and held India through the middle overs, but key moments didn't go their way. A near hattrick for Saim Ayub, and an LBW shout could have been the turning points. As it was India's bowlers also proved too strong for the Pakistan top order. Binksy and Baldy round out this segment with praise for an unlikely Indian pace spearhead. To the other big powerhouse in group play - yes, the West Indies as they roll over Nepal in a comprehensive 9-wicket victory. The WI seamers dominated the early going - while Holder got the wickets it was Forde that was the superstar in our eyes as the WI shut down Nepal and paved the way for a comfortable chase. Finally, the USA gets some love as their campaign builds in what is shaping up as a run that has us excited for the future of cricket in that country. Going forward it's a huge night for Australia - their encounter with Sri Lanka is must-win, and we cover what needs to go right for the Aussies. Steve Smith has arrived - but is it too late? The Ireland and Zimbabwe game 24 hours later will be a decisive fixture in Group B. We'll be back in your feed again tomorrow with the next instalment of our T20 World Cup coverage. In today's episode, I'm sharing my conversation with Leslie Forde — author, CEO, researcher, and advocate for women's maternal needs. Leslie is the creator of Mom's Hierarchy of Needs, a powerful framework that helps explain why traditional self-care so often falls short for moms. We talk about why so many of the struggles moms face aren't personal failures, but the result of systemic and cultural pressures — including scarcity and money stress. Leslie shares how growing up with financial instability shaped her relationship with work and options, how financial stress shows up in the nervous system, and why understanding money as options (not just numbers) can be so empowering. We also explore why believing we deserve care is such an essential — and often missing — starting point. Find more from Leslie:

In this powerful conversation, Dina sits down with Leslie Forde - author of Repair with Self-Care and founder of Mom's Hierarchy of Needs - for a truth-telling dialogue every woman leader needs to hear.Dina first heard Leslie speak in a packed room of women during her DC book tour stop, where you could feel the entire room exhale as Leslie named the invisible load so many of us have been carrying in silence. Today, they pick up that thread and dive even deeper.Together, they explore what happens when women stop performing resilience and start honoring their actual needs. Leslie breaks down why self-care is not indulgence, not a reward, and definitely not something you “earn” after you've handled everything else - but a leadership skill, a boundary, and a radical act of self-trust.You'll hear:Why energy management - not time management - is the real secret to sustainable leadershipHow the invisible load of motherhood shows up in boardrooms, Zoom rooms, and everywhere in betweenWhat shifts when women treat their needs as data instead of inconveniencesThe first realistic steps to repair yourself without stepping away from your career or burning your life downWhy self-care is strategic, political, and deeply personal for women leadersIf you've ever felt the weight of trying to hold it all together… this episode is your permission slip to put the load down and rebuild leadership from a place of wholeness, not depletion. This is a conversation about repair, recovery, and redefining what leadership looks like when women stop abandoning themselves. Don't miss it.
You're listening to Voices of Your Village, and today I got to chat with Leslie Forde about the unrealistic expectations of modern parenthood. Leslie's work is such a gift for those of us trying to do it all—and slowly realizing that “it all” was never sustainable in the first place. We talk about how burnout shows up, why moms in particular are feeling crushed under the weight of impossible schedules, and how to find moments of restoration that are actually doable in real life. We explore what it means to reclaim rest, joy, and self-trust—and why giving ourselves permission to stop striving for perfection isn't indulgent, it's necessary. Alright folks, let's dive in. Forde's book explores the psychedelic experience from a phenomenological perspective, argues that the psychedelic experience can reveal aspects of reality which would not otherwise be disclosed, and discusses how psychedelic experience can open the subject to the essential nature of realityBook link: https://link.springer.com/book/10.1007/978-3-031-95203-6--- Become part of the Hermitix community: Hermitix Twitter - https://twitter.com/Hermitixpodcast Support Hermitix: Patreon - https://www.patreon.com/hermitix Donations: - https://www.paypal.me/hermitixpod Hermitix Merchandise - http://teespring.com/stores/hermitix-2 Bitcoin Donation Address: 3LAGEKBXEuE2pgc4oubExGTWtrKPuXDDLK Ethereum Donation Address: 0x31e2a4a31B8563B8d238eC086daE9B75a00D9E74

In 1337, priest John Forde was murdered on London's Cheapside in full view of witnesses. Modern research links the killing to Lady Ela Fitzpayne — a noblewoman, excommunicated rebel, and Forde's alleged former lover. Witnesses named her own brother as the attacker… yet no one was punished. This is medieval true crime with all the politics, scandal, and power plays intact.Read the full article and get sources...https://www.englandcast.com/a-medieval-murder-mystery-sex-scandal-and-a-throat-slit-on-a-london-street/ Hosted on Acast. “We do not need any more nonprofits in Oregon,” Libra Forde wrote that in an op-ed published by The Oregonian/OregonLive in June 2025, calling it a “difficult truth.” She’s the executive director of Women’s Foundation of Oregon, a philanthropic organization which does grant-making, research and policy advocacy. We heard more from Forde on how nonprofits should move forward as federal funds shrink and how merging organizations could serve communities better.

For What It's Worth. In this episode, we conclude our reading of Gerhard Forde's "Captivation of the Will." We discuss the conclusion of Luther's treatise on the bound will, arriving at Christ and election, which reveals Erasmus's fundamental error — his argument for the human will is actually the original sin, choosing between good and evil. Master of Puppets. In this episode, we continue our exploration of the Bondage of the Will, with Gerhard Forde's book, The Captivation of the Will. We discuss the human will — what it is, what it does, what it wants — and why we are compelled to insist that we have free choice. We also talk about the two paths: one, the path of forgiveness, and the other, the way of morality. Why do we default to morality in matters of choice, and why is the preaching of God's grace over against morality so offensive to Christians who confess that our knowledge of good and bad is a direct consequence of the original sin in the garden? We also talk about drunkenness, women's ordination, the offense of irresistible grace, and what the Holy Spirit is up to amidst the disruption that occurs when he sends his preachers to declare an end to the illusion of free choice and reveal his death sentence to bound wills. Do You Understand the Words That Are Coming Out of My Mouth? In this episode, we read Gerhard Forde's monograph on Luther's treatise on The Bondage of the Will. We discuss scriptural exegesis, its internal and external clarity, how modern readers interpret texts, and why we often misread the Bible, as well as why we frequently fail to understand biblical texts that are overt and explicit in their clarity. Joining us for this episode of Diverse Thinking Different Learning is Leslie Forde! Leslie is the CEO and Founder of Mom's Hierarchy of Needs® and soon-to-be published Author of Repair with Self-Care: Your Guide to the Mom's Hierarchy of Needs. Her business provides evidence-based tools to help moms reclaim their time and well-being from the never-done-list while also helping employers retain working parents and caregivers. Since March of 2020, over 3,700 parents have participated in her research study (the longest-running of its kind) on the pandemic's ongoing impact on work, care, and wellness. With more than twenty years in senior leadership and a decade focused on media and technology in childcare, eldercare, mental health, and education, Leslie is a sought-after speaker and consultant. She advises organizations such as HubSpot, Merck, Scholastic, and the Barr Foundation on how to retain and support parents, caregivers, and people of color. Our conversation explores the growing crisis of parental stress and maternal mental health, which has been made so much worse by a perfect storm of factors such as the lasting impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, rising costs, shortages in healthcare and childcare resources, and the unique challenges faced by parents of neurodivergent children. Leslie shares some insights from her extensive research on the topic, explaining how parents, especially mothers, are struggling to balance the demands of caregiving, household management, and careers, often at the expense of their own well-being. The guilt, shame, and lack of flexibility in the workplace make it especially difficult for many parents to ask for the support that they desperately need. Leslie highlights the critical importance of parents, especially mothers, prioritizing self-care even in small ways to build resilience and model healthy behaviors for their children. She provides practical tips such as identifying a daily "anchor" activity and being mindful of decision fatigue to help parents carve out time for their own mental, physical, and emotional needs. Our conversation also goes into the direct connection between parents' mental health and their children's wellbeing, and how, by supporting parents, we can have a profound impact on the whole family. This conversation offers a powerful and timely exploration of the parental mental health crisis, with practical insights and solutions that can make a real difference for families! [6:13] - Mothers face worsening burnout as post-pandemic losses strip away time, resources, and support systems. [9:58] - Social conditioning and low workplace safety pressure women into overcommitment despite exhaustion and caregiving needs. [12:55] - Leslie asserts that many workplaces equate commitment with overwork, leaving parents afraid to ask for flexibility and support. [15:03] - Leslie points out how parents often feel isolated and ashamed when children struggle academically or socially. [17:39] - Many mothers feel trapped without partner support or financial means. [20:51] - Leslie asserts that ignoring self-care leads to burnout that harms health, family, and career stability. [23:46] - Exhausted parents struggle to engage with energetic children, straining relationships and shared activities. [25:47] - Leslie argues that parenting requires constant exhausting micro-adjustments, like juggling trains on endlessly shifting tracks. [28:36] - Dr. Wilson recommends Leslie's book for guidance. [29:11] - Leslie advises parents to establish a daily anchor habit and reduce fatigue around making decisions. [32:57] - Dr. Wilson points out that it's important to support parents of neurodivergent children while also encouraging their own self-care practices. [33:28] - Leslie agrees and reports that post-pandemic self-care has declined as responsibilities have increased and systems have become more strained. [36:48] - Leslie praises Karen's guidance for parents while emphasizing time management and self-care as very important. [38:10] - What is the best way to reach Leslie? It's perhaps never been more exhausting to be a mom. In her book, "Repair with Self-Care: Your Guide to the Mom's Hierarchy of Needs" author Leslie Forde calls on moms to find to put themselves first and prioritize their own health and well being, even when things are busy. Leslie Forde joins host Shirley Leung on today's episode of Say More.
"Life has been a journey I am proud of," Libra Forde. A perfect quote to not only describe Libra's life so far, but also this interview. Libra, the Executive Director of the Women's Foundation of Oregon was born and raised in New York City. The only child of two wildly talented parents (her mother was a successful runway model and Dad was Denzel Washington's first acting coach and the King of Cartoons on Pee-Wee's Playhouse), she talks about the influence they both had on her. Her parents were adamant that she go to college and think about a "real job," and while she says she struggled in college (it wasn't her first choice), she turned things around and made it work for her. The journey continues with a move to Hawaii, finding her voice in Toastmasters, becoming a keynote speaker, and working to make this place beyond our existence.
Forde talks ASU, Sam Leavitt, Kenny Dillingham, Big 12, and more.
