Frank Forde and I would cross paths at various gigs and I've had the pleasure of sitting down with him for a chat backstage in Green Rooms around the Country. I've always found him warm, engaging and knowledgeable without being condescending or sounding like a know it all. A man who always had time for a chat with no ulterior motive, and that's rare these days. Frank has been a comedian and impressionist for decades and I find it fascinating that he has had such a fantastic career without the help of a fancy website, social media pages or a "hot-shot" manager. I was honored to sit with Frank in his beautiful home and chat about life in general. We touched on many different topics and I really admire his outlook on life. Frank is a man I could talk to for hours and hopefully we will have him back on the podcast before too long. This is a real easy listening podcast and I hope you enjoy it. Hosted on Acast. Why do we enjoy foods that crunch? Listener Sheila Harris contacted The Food Chain with that question and asked us to find out if the food texture has any benefits. Ruth Alexander speaks to Danielle Reed, Chief Science Officer at the Monell Chemical Senses Center in Philadelphia, US, who says that crunchy foods signal freshness and help our brains decide if a food is safe to eat. Paediatric dentist Ashley Lerman in New York, US says crunchy fruit and vegetables can act as a natural tooth cleaner. Anthropologist Professor Noreen von Cramon-Taubadel at the University at Buffalo in New York, US says that the texture of our diets can impact the shape of our faces. Her work has studied how jaw shape has changed as humans switched from hunter gatherer to farming diets. Ciarán Forde, Professor of Sensory Science and Eating Behaviour at Wageningen University in the Netherlands explains how crunchy and other hard textures could help us to eat more slowly and consume fewer calories. And could crunch make foods more palatable? Chef Dulsie Fadzai Mudekwa in Zimbabwe says the texture is key to convincing people to try edible insects. This week on the Radiate Wellness Podcast, we present an encore episode: Radiate Love and Hope with Mariel Forde Clarke, originally published 2/22/22. Where do our loved ones go after they die? This is the question that has traversed the universe for centuries and is considered one of life's greatest mysteries. While many of the world's renowned philosophers, scientists, theorists, doctors, and great mystics endorsed the existence of the afterlife, no one book has been available to explore it all, until now. Mariel Forde Clarke, author of the book Where After: Where Do Our Loved Ones Go After They Die?, asserts that whether you believe in God or heaven, you can be comforted by the sense that an afterlife exists beyond the realm of one's physical comprehension. Drawing on the findings of patients who have had near- death experiences and visions and on those of renowned scientists and doctors, Clarke helps the reader chart the journey of the soul and navigate their grief.
