In October 2025, BBC NI published a podcast series, Borderland, that tackled the question of Irish unity. While the series explored both sides of the argument on the question of unity, there was one clear agreement. It's time for the south to seriously engage with the Northern question if there is to be any real debate on the possibility of a united Ireland. Notre Dame University are also running a major research project investigating the constitutional future of Ireland called ARINS (Analysing and Researching Ireland North and South) that probs these questions.   This limited series in an answer to this work and looks to further the conversation amongst ordinary young people in the south. Shockingly, only 22% of southerners have made repeat trips north of the border so what do we really know about life in the North? What would a United Ireland look like? Is it something we really want? What does a modern Ireland for all look like? What are the concessions we would have to make and can we make them? ‘Considering Lament: Psalms of protest, pain and hope' is a newly composed suite of psalms based on the experiences of victims and first responders during the Troubles which will be launched in Belfast  by the Presbyterian Church in Ireland on Thursday, 26 March.Composed by Rev Dr Karen Campbell and her husband David, the eight Psalms of Lament are based on the experiences of people who took part in eight focus groups in Armagh, Ballymena, Bangor, Belfast, Derry/Londonderry, Dungannon, and Omagh where there were two groups, one of them also drew people from Enniskillen. Each group studied a Psalm of Lament from the Book of Psalms that matched the experience of the place. Dr Campbell says that “The Psalms of Lament provide honest words to speak before God when our own words fail us.” They are intended as a resource for local churches and personal reflection.‘Psalm 109: Dungannon' is sung by Laura Beck (copyright Karen and David Campbell) and will premiere at the launch of Considering Lament on 26 March, in Assembly Buildings, Belfast, when all eight psalms will be performed live. Friends of the Rosary,Today, March 17, is the Memorial of St. Patrick, a bishop chosen by God 1.500 years ago to preach His glory by bringing Christianity to Ireland, a little country which would be converted from their pagan gods to the one true God.Today, Irishmen venerate him as their father in the Faith.Sf. Patrick was born about 385 in the British Isles. In Roman Britain, when he was 16, while he was tending his sheep, Irish raiders captured him and sold him into slavery. Six years later, he escaped to Europe, became a monk, and was ordained; he then returned to Ireland to preach the Gospel.During the thirty years of missionary work, he covered the Island with churches and monasteries and founded the metropolitan see of Armagh. Many legends are associated with St. Patrick: how he drove the snakes out of Ireland and how he used the shamrock to teach the mystery of the Trinity.Ireland, although a small country, played a large role in spreading the true faith to the world. During the early Dark Ages, and while Europe remained in darkness, the Irish monasteries preserved Western writingsIn his autobiography, Confessions, written in true humility, St. Patrick said,“I am greatly God's debtor, because he granted me so much grace, that through me many people would be reborn in God.”Ave Maria!Come, Holy Spirit, come!To Jesus through Mary! Here I am, Lord; I come to do your will. Please give us the grace to respond with joy!+ Mikel Amigot w/ María Blanca | RosaryNetwork.com, New YorkEnhance your faith with the new Holy Rosary University app:Apple iOS | New! Rabbi Dr Jonathan Romain whose son Benedict was tragically drowned while on honeymoon tells us what has helped him in the aftermath of such incredible loss.“Blessed be the Lord my rock who trains my hands for war and my fingers for battle”- the US government quoting scripture to explain the sacrifice of war in Iran. Theologian Professor Laurence Kirkpatrick tells us what the Book of Revelations says and how it has been interpreted by the Church over the centuries to make claims about the end of the World and the Battle of ArmageddonSilence- it's been used for hundreds of years, in books, plays, poetry...the irony of that is profound. Audrey talks to Oxford Professor Kate Mcloughlin about her new book which traces 12 centuries of literature uncovering the power and possibilities of silence. And this week 300 delegates will be meeting in the Archdiocese of Armagh to ask how do we pass on the faith to the next generation? Audrey speaks to Michael Router, Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Armagh; and Janet Forbes the diocesan Youth Coordinator.

The Troubles may be over, but the legacy lives on, as ongoing legal cases revive past incidents, but one area that has continued to capture the imagination of those interested in this period of British and Irish history is Bandit Country. That is South Armagh and the IRA's relatively successful campaign against the British Army. Toby Harnden joins today as we talk about his book, published in 1999 but republished recently and the seminal account of the South Armagh Brigade of the IRA throughout the Troubles. After a week off, Galway return to LIDL Ladies National Football League action this Saturday (21st February 2026) when they host Armagh. The Tribeswomen sit in third following two wins from their opening three games.  They beat Kildare 3-12 to 1-17 in Tuam Stadium two weeks ago.  Armagh have suffered two defeats in their three outings, including last week's 2-8 to 1-9 reversal against Cork and are in sixth, just outside the relegation spots. That being said, Armagh were league champions in 2024 and runners-up 12 months ago.  They beat Galway in their last meeting (0-8 to 0-6) in 2024.  The girls in maroon last defeated the Orchard County back in 2017 when two late Mairead Seoighe goals gave them a 2-11 to 1-12 success in Tuam. Leading up to the game, Galway manager Daniel Moynihan has been chatting to Galway Bay FM's Darren Kelly and agreed that two wins from three wasn't a bad start. == Throw-in at Duggan Park, Ballinasloe on Saturday is 4.15pm and we'll have LIVE coverage here on Galway Bay FM.

Bígí Linn. South & East Belfast Sinn Féin is hosting an evening discussion on what a world class, all-Ireland health system could look like and how we make it a reality. Chaired by Deirdre Hargey MLA, with Guest speaker David Cullinane TD and joined by panellists from across the health sector. The event will take place on the 12th of February 7pm at the Malone Lodge. Self-Determination and Democratic RightsFor decades now I have argued that self-determination is one of the big issues of our time. In 2005 I wrote: “In my view the big international struggle of our time is to assert democratic control by people over the decisions which affect their lives. This does not mean retreating behind existing borders and refusing contact with the outside world, but it does mean reasserting the primacy of democracy and working together in order to pursue this objective.”Mickey Brady – A Cheerful Change Maker. Mickey Brady, former Sinn Féin MLA and MP for Newry and Armagh died last week. His sudden death came as a great shock to his family and to all of us who knew and respected him. I had the great fortune to work closely with Mickey in the Assembly and I often campaigned with him during elections. Some people are really good canvassing during elections. They have that way of engaging with people on the streets and at the doorstep and Mickey was a master at it.He was always positive. He knew the issues impacting on people and he could speak from his years of experience as an elected representative and as a champion for their rights through his work in the Newry Welfare Rights centre.Report on Rural Health in a New Ireland publishedSinn Féin's Commission on the Future of Ireland last week published its latest report - ‘Delivering Rural Health and Care in a New Ireland.' The public event took place in Enniskillen in November.A packed hall heard from a panel of health activists, including Pat Cullen MP, Fr. Brian D'Arcy – writer and broadcaster, Paula Leonard, CEO of Alcohol Ireland and Denzil McDaniel, author and former editor of The Impartial Reporter. The discussion and report examines the challenges faced by rural communities trying to access all-Ireland cardiac services, autism services, cancer provision, suicide support services and A&E.It makes no sense that we run two entirely separate health systems trying to solve the same problems. The report of the Enniskillen Assembly can be accessed in English and Irish here: www.sinnfein.ie/futureofireland
