He's heading to Philadelphia in a three-team deal between the Phillies, Rays, and Dodgers. After not playing in 2020, Ervin Santana has signed a minor league deal with the Royals.

The Braves signed Ervin Santana to a one-year deal in March 2014. Santana would pitch a solid season for Atlanta that year, but then depart in free agency for the Twins. Because the Braves extended a qualifying offer to Santana, they received a compensatory draft pick when he left. The Braves then used that pick to draft Mike Soroka in the supplemental first round in 2015. It was an aggressive pick because most rankings had Soroka going one or two rounds later. Did signing Ervin Santana help land the Braves their future ace of the decade? All this on today's episode.

It's still April, but we all agree: the White Sox are underperforming as a team.Chuck Garfien, Ryan McGuffey, Vinnie Duber and Chris Kamka break down the reasons why (1:30). What's going on with Ivan Nova and Ervin Santana? (5:20)Could Dylan Cease be the answer sooner rather than later? (10:55)Why the White Sox should be .500 (17:15). What's going on with Jon Jay and how his signing is backfiring so far (19:30) and more.
Here's the rundown: * RECAP: The Orioles destroy Ivan Nova. * PREVIEW: The Orioles will probably destroy Ervin Santana. * MINORS: Danny Mendick snaps out of his slump. * MLB NEWS: Zack Wheeler goes 100-100.
The White Sox Farm system, if White Sox pitching can actually get better... a tribute to Ken "Hawk Harrelson, if Tim Anderson, Yoan Moncada and Eloy Jimenez will stay consistent... MLB scheduling woes... and if Daniel Palka will EVER get a hit again in the MLB. 01:22 - 07:23: White Sox Farm SystemWe start off with an analysis of White Sox players that are moving up in the minors. This is an incredibly interesting time in the White Sox rebuild, as we see players in the lower levels performing at an insanely high level, and forcing the issue of moving up to the big leagues. However, a log jam is introduced when you consider where players from A+ and AA are supposed to go when you have an already full AAA roster. 07:23 - 14:19: White Sox Starting PitchingThere is an unfortunate spell of inconsistency happening with the entire starting rotation for the Chicago White Sox. With the possible exceptions of Carlos Rodon and Ivan Nova... Lucas Giolito, Reynaldo Lopez and now Ervin Santana are lacking in their ability to get out jams they've been getting themselves into. 14:19 - 19:37: Ken "Hawk" HarrelsonJoe opens up about his thoughts on the Hawk Harrelson cover story that was played during the various rain/snow delays, and about commentators being fans versus an unbiased analyst. 19:37 - 36:22: Tim AndersonTim Anderson is on an undeniable hot streak, but hear why Joe isn’t excited about him as much as other prospects coming up. Also, an interesting realization that the White Sox have very little infield depth in the farm system. 37:31 - 42:09: White Sox Starting Pitching (part 2!)A realization that while White Sox pitchers are definitely playing terrible so far, it seems like the opposing pitchers we've seen just so happen to be absolutely acing the White Sox hitters. 42:09 - 47:27: MLB SchedulingA discussion about MLB scheduling issues, and why we continue to see cold April games in the Midwest. 47:27 - 01:00:29: Eloy JimenezYou tell us... is 2019 Eloy Jimenez following the same patch as 2018 Moncada? Ryan points out that all of the pitchers we've seen so far are taking advantage of Jimenez' lack of MLB maturity and coming right out and attacking him, because they know they can right now. 01:00:29 - 01:13:16: More Contract Extensions Across The MLBRyan is enamored with even more extensions going on across the league, and we discuss the possibility, and probability of locking up another one of our own young players... Dylan Cease! Maybe even Yoan Moncada? Do the White Sox have anyone else they should consider extending a contract to? 01:13:16 - 01:16:33: White Sox Weekly Wrap-UpWe wrap up this week with a preview of the coming week, and give our predictions if Daniel Palka will actually get a hit before our next episode.
Here's the rundown: * RECAP: The Sox lose their 4th straight, and Ervin Santana looks... not good. * PREVIEW: Reynaldo Lopez tries to be better than Ervin Santana (and Tyler Glasnow). * MINORS: Dylan Cease is lights out in his AAA debut. * AROUND THE LEAGUE: Bryce Harper takes Stephen Strasburg deep, and Mike Trout leaves with an injury.
Jordan Bernfield, Jay Cohen and Jason Goch join Kap on the panel.0:00- Joe Maddon announces that Jon Lester will miss at least 1 start. Do the Cubs have enough pitching depth to make up for his absence?4:00- The Cubs offense stays hot while the bullpen hasn't been awful of late. Are the Cubbies all better?8:30- The White Sox get another poor start- this time by Ervin Santana. Are there any signs of improvement on the South Side?11:00- The panel discusses Virginia's 1st national championship in men's basketball and if there is too much replay in sports.15:00- Dwyane Wade plays his final home game in Miami. The guys discuss how Bulls fans will remember him.18:00- Chicagoland Speedway president Scott Paddock breaks down another win for Kyle Busch and Joe Gibbs Racing.
The Rundown: * Carlos Rodon got wild as Blake Snell dominated to lead the Rays to a 5-1 victory. * Today is the debut for Ervin Santana in a White Sox uniform. He'll start opposite of Charlie Morton for the Rays. * Down in the Minors, Luis Robert hit another home run, Micker Adolfo and Luis Gonzalez had a clutch hits. * Around MLB, Chris Davis sets a new major league record.
Chuck Garfien and Vinnie Duber talk about the White Sox pitching staff which has been in a big rut over the last week. They discuss the starters, bullpen and Ervin Santana's first start (2:00). Then Chuck speaks with Tim Anderson about his new daughter and what it was like sleeping on a hospital couch for five days (7:50), how and why he's become a Seattle Mariners killer (9:30), why he's out to get revenge on opposing pitchers (11:00), the reason he doesn't care about his batting average which leads the majors (13:00) and more.
The Rundown: * The Chicago White Sox split a two-game series at Cleveland thanks to the hot hitting of Yoan Moncada and great pitching from Carlos Rodon. We break down what's working for them early in 2019. * Yolmer Sanchez and Daniel Palka are not playing well. With the White Sox needing to add Ervin Santana soon to the roster, is Sanchez or Palka at risk of losing their spot on the 25-man? * We preview the first home series in 2019 for the White Sox as Seattle heads to the South Side. Presented by SeatGeek
With the regular season getting closer, Chuck Garfien gets the goods from Don Cooper about many White Sox pitchers. The decision to have Carlos Rodon start on Opening Day (3:00), what Lucas Giolito needs to improve on in 2019 (6:16), what they're doing to make Ivan Nova a better pitcher this year (8:10), improving Ervin Santana's velocity and will he be the fifth starter? (11:50), what Dylan Cease needs to work on in the minors (13:20), what other pitching prospect besides Cease will take the biggest stride in 2019? (14:30)Coop also talks about Kelvin Herrera, Alex Colome, Zach Thompson, Thyago Vieira, Nate Jones and more.
The White Sox made a bunch of roster moves. The biggest is Eloy Jimenez being sent down to Triple-A. Chuck Garfien speaks with Scott Merkin of MLB.com about the decision to have Jimenez start the season in Charlotte. (1:10). Rick Hahn talks about Jimenez, as well as Dylan Cease, Micker Adolfo, Luis Robert, Ervin Santana and Dane Dunning, who might need Tommy John surgery (6:55). Chuck and Scott discuss the Dunning news (15:05). Then Ryan McGuffey and Vinnie Duber react to all the day's White Sox news back in Chicago (21:55).
Dave and Chris re-assess their view on the rebuild plan and the White Sox organization as a whole after an eventful week. The guys discuss if Ervin Santana is a positive signing.
