In der aktuellen VISIONS-Ausgabe nehmen wir die Rückkehr von The Jesus Lizard zum Anlass für ein großes Noiserock-Special. In der zugehörigen Episode "Editors' Voice" spricht die Redaktion mit einem Protagonisten von damals über den deutschen Noise-Zweig. Es sind nicht nur The Jesus Lizard, die zurückkehren. Just haben mit God Bullies weitere Noise-Veteranen ihr erstes Album seit 30 Jahren angekündigt. Dazu veröffentlichen am selben Tag wie The Jesus Lizard "Rack" die Noise-erfahrenen Die Nerven ihr neues Album "Wir waren hier". Grund genug für große Storys zu The Jesus Lizard und Die Nerven, eine ausführliche Noise-History und eine Auswahl der 50 wichtigsten Noiserock-Platten von damals bis heute. Von Flipper über Shellac bis Pissed Jeans, mit Studiomeistern wie Steve Albini, Dave Sardy und Butch Vig, von den USA über Großbritannien bis Deutschland. Denn auch hierzulande erschienen ausgezeichnete, teils sogar von Sardy betreute Alben. Dazu prägte Guido Lucas mit seinem Label Blunoise den deutschen Noiserock maßgeblich. Im Heft sprechen wir darüber mit Aren Emirze von Harmful (heute Musa Dagh), Mark Arm von Mudhoney und Tom Hazelmyer vom legendären Noise-Label Amphetamine Reptile. In der neuen Folge "Editors' Voice" allerdings haben wir uns einen weiteren deutschen Noise-Protagonisten der 90er eingeladen: Carsten Sandkämper, der damals mit seiner Band Pendikel zum Blunoise-Roster gehörte und heute für VISIONS schreibt. Die Redakteure Jan Schwarzkamp und Martin Burger sprechen mit Carsten über die Zeit mit Lucas, über tatsächliche technische Erkennungsmerkmale des Noiserock und über die Entwicklung des Genres bis heute. Není neobvyklé, že věhlasné značky a firmy se snaží ukrýt své chyby, aby neztratily dobré jméno. Co by se stalo, kdyby nějaký skandál vylezl na povrch? Podobné přemýšlení se nevyhlo ani biblickým postavám. Takový Samson se snažil své chování utajit, ale marně. Třetí zastavení ve sboru v Sardách, kde si chtěli zachovat dobré jméno, otevírá Marián Možucha.

Dnes známé firmy si dlouho dobu budovaly své jméno, renomé. Ale stačí několik chyb, a o svou prestiž mohou rychle přijít. Město Sardy zažilo takový vzestup a pád. Z velkého města je dnes malá zapomenutá vesnička. Kompas Mariána Možuchy provede dopisem, který mohl tento proces úpadku zvrátit.

Z historie známe mnoho říší, měst či panovníků, kteří se chtěli vyvýšit nad ostatní a budovali si své jméno. Jejich konec byl ale většinou rychlý a bolestivý a zůstaly po nich jen záznamy v muzeích. Město Sardy také toužilo po světovém věhlasu, dokonce v jednu dobu bylo jedním z největších měst na světě. Dnes je z něj malinká zapomenutá vesnička. This week we're discussing every album by Barkmarket. Led by Dave Sardy (or D. Sardy), who is now a Grammy-winning record producer, Barkmarket was a wholly unique noise rock band. Blending elements of alternative metal, industrial, and grunge, these guys were ferocious. They even worked with Rick Rubin on two albums before he moved onto more commercially viable bands. World Mental Health Day on October 10 with its theme of "Make mental health for all a global priority" couldn't be more appropriate during these times when mental health in the family and mental health as a society is suffering more than ever. Having been raised by a mom diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia and then having a younger sister also diagnosed with the same mental illness gave me first-hand knowledge early on in my life of the challenges that come with caring for loved ones who have a mental illness. To be able to talk about the experience with someone else -- a fellow writer -- who also had a mother and a sibling with schizophrenia has been incredible. This episode of my podcast features award-winning published author and essayist Marin Sardy whose work has appeared in numerous journals and publications including Tin House, The Rumpus, and the New Yorker, wherein an excerpt from her memoir, THE EDGE OF EVERY DAY: SKETCHES OF SCHIZOPHRENIA, was published.  Marin shares her history with mental illness in the family, telling of her own experiences with schizophrenia claiming both her mother and brother.  Matt sits down with longtime friend and author Marin Sardy to talk about her new book, "The Edge of Every Day: Sketches of Schizophrenia." Marin had a most unusual life growing up with two close family members suffering from Schizophrenia. The book is a multi-dimensional exploration of the nature and impact of mental illness on relationships and one's sense of self, as well as a critical look at the way governments treat the mentally ill.  More about Marin:Marin Sardy is the author of the critically acclaimed memoir The Edge of Every Day: Sketches of Schizophrenia (Pantheon 2019). Her essays have appeared in Tin House, Guernica, the New Yorker online, the Paris Review online, the Rumpus, Fourth Genre, the Missouri Review, and many other journals, as well as in two award-winning photography books—Landscape Dreams (2012) and Ghost Ranch and the Faraway Nearby (2009). A Pushcart Prize nominee, Sardy has three times had her work listed as “notable” in Best American series and has been awarded fellowships by Hawthornden Castle, Catwalk Institute, and the Hertog Foundation.
