Lots of teams with a “last stand' game this week will make matchups very interesting. Aaron Rodgers' status is in question, but he's proven the Packers should give him a blank check. Can the Titans keep it rolling without Derrick Henry against a Jameis-less Saints? Lot of drama around the Raiders, but the reality is they're still playing better than the Chiefs right now. Steven Van Zandt may be best known as the legendary founding guitarist from Bruce Springsteen's E-Street band, or perhaps as Silvio Dante from The Sopranos. Now, Rock and Roll Hall of Famer "Little Stevie" is diving into the world of weed, with a focus on wellness. As Van Zandt tells host Brit Smith, unlike other celebrities who have put their names on THC-focused cannabis lines, Little Stevie's new pre-rolled joints are heavy with CBD and easy on THC, designed to give the consumer a nice mellow body buzz. The bud itself is also being grown by one of the best in the business; Chemdog, one of the most iconic cannabis growers in modern U.S. history. “Little Steven's Underground Apothecary” has launched exclusively at Canna Provisions recreational dispensaries in Lee and Holyoke, Massachusetts. Audio in this episode includes music by Bruce Springsteen and the E-Street Band, and sound from HBO's The Sopranos. Episode 43 of Season 4 went out live on Rebel Rock Radio on 28 Oct 2021. It was politically charged, I had no choice. In the midst of load-shedding 4 times a day, labour unrest and trucks being burnt on the N3, South Africa is on its knees due to the disastrous ANC government. A rot started by Jacob Zum and perpetuated by Cyril Ramaposa is destroying the country. Municipal elections are taking place on 1 November, this show is inextricably linked to this point in time. We kicked off in party mode with My Chemical Romance and 'Vampire Money' off Danger Days. next up Massive Wagons off their 2020 release House of Noise. Then it was time for ACDC and it flowed from there. There were plenty of classic bands. We heard from the Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, The Doors and Alice Cooper with 'Elected' (what else?). New stuff came from Joe Bonamassa off his new Time Clocks album, and from KK's Priest with 'Metal Through and Through'. Note that AA Milne is not in the band :-). As shows go it was pretty well balanced. We had Venom, the godfathers of today's metal, with a track called 'Don't Burn the Witch'. We had punk courtesy of The Stranglers and UK Subs, we had the blues with Joe Bonamassa and Rory Gallagher, we had amazing guitarists in Mr Big, Winery Dogs and with Gary Moore. Reference was made to the situation with the songs. For example, We had The Cruel Sea with 'Anybody But You', Adrenaline Mob with 'Judgement Day', 'Race to Extinction' from Accept, and, another track possibly written about the SA government titled 'Straight From Hell' by Helloween, In the end, we had some good positivity with Little Steven and 'Out of the Darkness' which I sincerely hope I will be able to report on favourably next week. We shall see. Artists featured: My Chemical Romance, Massive Wagons, ACDC, The Rolling Stones, The Cruel Sea, Seether, Accept, Helloween, Anthrax, Ratt, Bad Company, Billy Talent, Soundgarden, The Doors, Led Zeppelin, KK's Priest, Adrenaline Mob, Alice Cooper, Iron Maiden, Great White, Venom, The Stranglers, UK Subs, Anti-Flag, The Donnas, The Cult, Rush, Killswitch Engage, Avenged Sevenfold, Joe Bonamassa, Rory Gallagher, Mr Big, The Winery Dogs, Gary Moore, Judas Priest, Metallica, Little Steven, Richard O'Brien, The Uninvited

Stevie Van Zandt is best-known as guitarist and founding member of Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band, and for playing Silvio Dante on HBO's The Sopranos and Frank Tagliano on Netflix's Lilyhammer. But as he shares in his new memoir, Unrequited Infatuations, Stevie has done so much more with his time on this earth, even if it all didn't go exactly as he might have hoped. As a producer, songwriter, and arranger, Stevie has helped countless artists make beautiful music. His songs have been performed by Jackson Browne, Pearl Jam, Nancy Sinatra, and many more. He co-produced Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band's The River and Born in the USA, acted in the role of Jerry Vale in Martin Scorcese's The Irishman, programs and hosts two radio channels on Sirius/XM and—somewhere along the way—found time to fight for causes he believed in, most notably Artists Against Apartheid for which he was honored by the United Nations. In today's conversation, Stevie shares the frustrations and occasional disappointments of putting your whole heart (and, sometimes, all your money) into your artistic vision. Yet he abides in his passionate pursuit of musical beauty. In the words of his friend, Bruce Springsteen Stevie remains "the planet's most charismatic, dedicated and visible crusader scrapping to preserve the dirty purity of rock n' roll.” Buy several copies of Stevie's book at https://www.littlesteven.com/ Tell the world that you ❤️ Crazy Money: https://ratethispodcast.com/crazymoney About Crazy Money: Unlike traditional personal finance shows, Crazy Money is not about how to make a million bucks, how to beat the stock market, or how to save money by switching credit cards. It is about deciding what role we want money to play in our lives and how we can use it to be our best selves. Topics covered include: philosophy, happiness, contentment, meaning, dreams, purpose, success, society, mental health, Buddhism, Stoicism, the hedonic treadmill, morality, mid-life crisis, business, work, careers, authors, books, consumerism, values, capitalism, economics, investing, saving, spending, personal finance, charity, philanthropy, altruism, affluence, wealth management, culture, society, status, ambition, accomplishment, perfectionism. On this episode we talk about: Art, music, music business, commerce, New Jersey, HBO, Netflix, Sopranos, Lilyhammer, concerts, Little Steven, BadaBing, authors, books Please stop reading and have a great day. I knew I was about to be face-to-face with five-time Grammy Nominee, producer, composer, arranger, vocalist, and guitarist extraordinaire, Johnny Gale, for the first time in three-plus decades, when I was booking rock, and Johnny was playing it, back in the heady daze of the New York club scene. What I didn't know is that we actually met five decades ago. What?!? Earlier today, listening to an interview Johnny did recently, at the tail end, more than an hour and a half in, he mentioned his friend, Vinny Graffeo. I knew Johnny was from Queens. I lived in Queens. My boyfriend in 1970, Vinny Graffeo lived in Queens. Could there be another guitar/bass player at that time, in that place, with that name? I screen-shared some pics. Turns out no. We shared the same Vinny. Upon seeing the pics, Johnny recognized 15 year old me. What a way to kick off a conversation. The fun didn't stop. We talked the early days, the music he was listening to, his ascent to playing, the bands, the gigs, the players, from Vinny and Marty Miller (another crazy story) to Leslie West, Waddy Wachtel, Angel Rissoff, Gene Cornish, Phoebe Snow, Cyndi Lauper (he was her boyfriend), Ronnie Spector, Darlene Love, Elvis Costello, Ringo Starr, Little Steven, Aaron Carter (huh?), his own Gale Force (awarded Best Guitar Record of The Year by Guitar Shop Magazine, upon its release in '94), to music directing and playing on Boardwalk Empire, Vinyl, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, The Irishman, to A Bronx Tale on Broadway. We came full-circle back to Doo-Wop, the music which transfixed him as a kid, and has been one of his major gigs for the past 20 years, with Kenny Vance and The Planotones. What an amazing and varied career Johnny's fashioned, without once having a job/job or formally studying. He schooled and mastered his craft in the school of hard knocks, having plenty, alongside his many victories. As easy to talk to as an old friend… he kinda is one. From Bayside to Bleecker Street, we've shared air, friends, music, and memories. Mourning the loss of the stupendous Mike Finnigan this day, and learning of the premature passing of childhood beau, Vinny, it was warm, fun, and comforting to be in Johnny's great company. What a trip! Please give his stupendous Daddy Long Legs a listen. https://bit.ly/3lWD4TS Johnny Gale Live on Game Changers with Vicki Abelson Wed, 8/11/21, 5 pm PT, 8 pm ET Streamed Live on my Facebook Replay here: https://bit.ly/3iFPnSM All BROADcasts, as podcasts, also available on iTunes apple.co/2dj8ld3 Stitcher bit.ly/2h3R1fla tunein bit.ly/2gGeItj Also on iHeartRadio, SoundCloud, Voox, OwlTail, Backtracks, PlayerFM, Himalaya, Podchaser, and Listen Notes Thanks to Rick Smolke of Quik Impressions, the best printers, printing, the best people people-ing. quikimpressions.com Nicole Venables,of Ruby Begonia Hair Studio Beauty and Products, for tresses like the stars she coifs, and regular people, like me.
