In chapter 4 of Acts we look at a couple, who is active in the church, that sins against God.
Our series in the book of Acts continues this week as Pastor Ethan talks about cultivating a powerful and grace-filled church.
Imagine a husband who calls every day from work. One day, however, he doesn't call. The husband and wife had had an argument the night before, the but the wife thought it had been resolved. Now, in the wake of no phone call, she begins to wonder if she was mistaken. Perhaps her husband IS still angry. Perhaps he's pulling some kind of passive-aggressive tactic (the kind HIS father used). Later that night when both the husband and wife are home, the wife says nothing (all the while stewing inside about her inconsiderate husband). She goes to bed early angry and alone. The next morning, the husband is behaving as though NOTHING had happened, and right before leaving for work he tells her, "I'm so sorry I didn't call you yesterday. We had an emergency at work, and I was stuck in a team meeting without my phone for over four hours. I want you to know I missed you, and I love you." In THAT moment, the wife realizes that what she had ASSUMED about her husband was NOT the case. In this message, Pastor Max articulates a relationship skill NEEDED for cultivating HEALTHY relationships...in your family, with friends and church family, and with co-workers.
Ananias and Saphira, two Christians in the early church, suffered a swift judgment when they attempted to deceive the church in their giving. Integrity in all things matters

The radical way of living that characterized the followers of Jesus was made clear through their unity of heart and soul. They were willing to give of what they had to support the needy, building up a community where all were united in their love of God and neighbor. This week we will look at the selflessness of the early church and the tension created by those unwilling to follow wholeheartedly.

There was a way for Ananias and Sapphira to have their cake and eat it too, but the route they decided to take was to pump up their own image of holiness at the expense God’s dignity. This is the Sovereign God, the One who came from heaven to our fallen earth, and allowed His Body to be broken and HIs blood to be shed, and God allowed Himself to die on our behalf, and yet here Ananias and Sapphira are posing as worshippers!
When the gospel has its full effect upon you it changes everything … including the way you view and utilise your possessions. Instead of curving in on yourself through hoarding you curve away from yourself and share radically. This is how the early church operated as recorded by Luke in Acts 4.

Why? Why do we have such a need to impress others? And we do we LIE in order to look better than we really are? In this message, Max Vanderpool teaches on the ultimate you can't fool God stories in the Bible - and why pretending to be something on the OUTSIDE that you aren't on the INSIDE is a really, really bad idea.

In this sermon Pastor Keith explains some lessons that we can learn from the early church with both positive and negative examples. Barnabas is a positive example of generosity and Ananias along with his wife Sapphira are negative examples of hypocrisy and deceit. The main idea of the sermon that God desires unity, generosity, sincerity and reverence in His people. And these qualities are generated by the work of the Holy Spirit.

How does my good get tainted with evil? It’s not just our future rewards we are protecting, but the very essence of our Christian character and testimony in this world.
