In 2021, with UK Covid restrictions putting plans for his creative collaborations on hold, British artist and musician Peter Beatty decided to take the plunge into animation. He wanted to create an animated film as a music video to accompany a song he had written called Tell Me Where to Go. To make things extra interesting (and complicated!) he decided to shun modern digital approaches and instead to build a multiplane camera – a meticulous, painstaking system for stop-motion animation invented by Disney Studios in the 1930s and now rarely used. He then set to work animating with his film-making/photographer friend Joseph Boyle. Neither had made a stop motion animation before, but their final film has won seven international awards - and counting!
My guest this week is my friend, the hilarious and sexy Silvia Saige! She's a hilarious standup comedian and a professional porn star. Also, Jordy Stroud (from ep. 22), a standup comedian who I think watches too much porn and hasn't hit on a woman in his entire life. When I met Jordy at an open mic and realized that porn was keeping him from enjoying real women, I had to have him on the podcast. Now I'm joining him with a porn star, to see if we can talk some sense into him!⤵️ SHOW DATES: TIX @ MikeFromDetroit.com
Welcome to the first episode of the Tell Me Where 2 Go radio show. In this edition I chat about the Perth to Kalgoorlie Prospector train. I chat to Julie Jones from Travel Without Limits/Have Wheelchair Will Travel about travelling with disabilities and we visit Oda Andreasen on Mykines in the Faroe Islands.
The guys are back together for a "throw back" episode of Tell Me Where to Turn. Live sports updates, gambling, taxes, politics and the spelling of "Krum".
Tell Me Where to Turn celebrates two years with special guest KJ Ellis.
This week the guys talk about recent acts they've seen, carnivals, hitchhiking, a harrowing tale of being three wide in a S-10, Cheers and Michael Keaton. Gustav starts off the episode with a field report about the Steve Martin and Martin Short show he recently saw, as well as comparing and contrasting it to the John Cleese and Eric Idle show from earlier in the year. Heavy talks about his anniversary date to go see the Drive-by-Truckers at the Granada with a stop to see Chef Rob before the show. The boy's lament missing the Old 97's Country Fair this year with a hint of remorse about last year's County Fair and the lost episode. Ty tells about his most recent use of Craig's List to unload tickets to the Fortress Festival. Fair talk leads to carnival talk as the guys remember winning roach clips and age inappropriate mirrors from the carnies. Gus tells a freak show story and recalls being stuck when a ride broke. The ever present theme of the freedom and inherent danger of a kids life in the eighties presents itself once again. Heavy tells the story of a little traveling Mexican Circus he took his family too after church one day. The traveling life opens the question of taking an RV across the country. RV travel naturally leads to talk of train hopping and former railroad man Pappy Longmire. Ty has a great story of how his friends in college hopped a train and ended up in a very uncomfortable situation and found themselves three wide in a S-10 pickup. That story leads to more hitchhiking talk including a tale of Point Break Dave from Tell Me Where to Turn Podcast fame. Ty and Gus engage in Michael Keaton talk with a focus on Night Shift, Mr. Mom and Birdman. Heavy can't help himself and makes a Gung-Ho joke in hopes of derailing the conversation. While remembering the eighties, the guys talk MASH and Cheers. Gus is dying to talk about Beyond the Valley of the Dolls but has to explain to Heavy who Russ Meyer was so that goes nowhere. Ty has an idea for a premium content episode about Three's Company. It's a special episode this week with special guest Brad who joins the boys to talk robots, poor nutrition, pockets and a sad clown painting. Brad wasn't feeling well, but he showed up for free burgers and a chance to see Ty's shining visage in person. The professor is the co-host of the Below the Belt Podcast on the Blowout Podcast network, award winning historian, NPR guest and the author of Arredondo: Last Spanish Ruler of Texas and Northeastern New Spain To get things going, Gustav mourns the social media death of Clay from Partial Recall. RIP Clay. Brad explains how he carries around a laser pointer. See if you are as confused as the boys are. That leads Ty to ask about pocket habits and where each of the guys store their wallets, keys, phones and assorted items. There's some Sam Elliott talk which then leads to Nick Offerman talk and the greatness of Ron Swanson. Ty then offers up a hypothetical based on the movie "Passenger". It didn't take long for the wheels to go off the rails in this discussion. Brad loves Brokeback Mountain, but the guys have never seen it, but they take Brad's word for it. The concept of a robosexual relationship while on space ship is bandied about. Gus had just heard the most recent episode of Brad's Below the Belt podcast and he is fascinated by the lack of knowledge about medicines by both Brad and Ryan. That leads to fever talk and some scary nutritional practices by Brad, including him eating soup for breakfast. Then Gus unveils a special gift of a sad clown painting for Heavy. There is a discussion about Family Ties and Tina Yothers. Not really sure how that happened. Then Brad tells a story about a celebrity interaction on Twitter. Ty tries valiantly to make a Sade joke. The boys turn to emails. Eduardo has an update to the frequent topic of trough urinals. Gus reminds everyone about the episode of Tell Me Where to Turn where Glen tells his Devil's Bowl Speedway story. Brad tries haiku. Gus makes a stand as a cessati0nist and talks about his run in with painting of Jesus laughing. Then an email from listener Steve wraps things up. Email us your reports about pockets and clowns or anything else you want to share to canyouhearmepod@gmail.com Join us on our sub-reddit for Can You Hear Me Follow us on Twitter @canyouhearmepod @realgustav @tywebb3000 @longmireheavy Find us on Tumblr and Instagram @canyouhearmepod The post Brad and the Sad Clown Painting appeared first on Can You Hear Me?.
Looking back at highlights of the first year of Tell Me Where to Turn.
Episode 58 finds the boys answering emails, making each other laugh and Heavy asking if we've ever been squirrel hunting with a blowgun. Straight out of the gate, Heavy is offering up million dollar ideas including "Beaver Box". Ty is wound up after a trip to Ranger's spring training and he shares his argument with his younger brother about the safety of un-refrigerated mayonnaise. This leads to a discussion about whether other condiments need refrigeration including the jellies and jams. At one point someone says "Fritos and Mayonnaise", which almost became this episode's title. In Episdoe 57, the guys talk about the Canadian TV show Letterkenny. So you may wonder why Gustav basically repeats himself this week in order to tell a story about a run in with a treasure trail. It would be nice to say that it was an intentional reset for listeners who may not have been by the channel for Episode 57. But the truth is that we recorded Ep 57 two weeks after recording Ep 58, but jumped it ahead in order to document Matt's finding of the "Coke is the Real Thing" commercial. So that means in two short weeks, Gustav had completely forgotten what they had talked about when they recorded this episode. They turn to emails and first up is nicest guy in the world Tom with some questions about vacation spots in Texas. We pretty much let Heavy answer this one and collect a check from the San Antonio Tourism Office. Next up we have emails from two of the three hosts of the Tell Me Where to Turn podcast. Tommy offers up a hypothetical and Glen fires off an email aimed at a lot of different people. Then Gustav goes off on a rant about ATF barrel length regulations and for some reason Heavy asks "Ever gone squirrel hunting with a blowgun?" And Ty and Gus geek out about Mike Wallace from Sixty Minutes fame. Email us your ideas of what our next careers should be as well as any Texas vacation destinations to canyouhearmepod@gmail.com Join us on our sub-reddit for Can You Hear Me Follow us on Twitter @canyouhearmepod @realgustav @tywebb3000 @longmireheavy Find us on Tumblr and Instagram @canyouhearmepod The post Squirrel Hunting with a Blowgun appeared first on Can You Hear Me?.
The guys reminisce about the first year of Tell Me Where to Turn. Tommy considers joining a country club. Disturbing details of Dave’s childhood come to light.
Believe it or not, for the first time in over a month, the full crew is back together to bring you fashion talk, fun facts about syphilis and to learn how Heavy used to game the Columbia House Record Club. But to start things off there is a lot of confusion about the Neville Brothers, the members of the Jackson Five and the unexplained stardom of a young Jimmy Osmond in Japan. As things settle down, Gustav recounts his disdain for a poor pan flute player in the Portland Airport. Then Heavy talks about the Columbia House Record Club and how he may or may not have led to their eventual demise. The limits of technology are then pushed as we have Heavy listen live for the first time to a super cool hip musical act. But his response is far less than what we had hoped. Then Gustav can't remember a band from the late eighties and Ty and Heavy are absolutely no help. For inexplicable reasons, the guys return to sock talk which leads to Heavy accusing them of being like a bunch of old women. Yet he is fine jumping in on fashion talk from our youth as we deal with chains for men, Member's Only Jackets and OP corduroy shorts. Long time listener and frequent emailer Cody sends in a harrowing tale of a gargling mix-up. That somehow turns to old time diagnosis talk, the near death of Tell Me Where to Turn's Point Break Dave and fun facts about Syphilis. This week is the unveiling of the Gustav Monteblanc Project. Heavy and Ty are nowhere to be found when it comes time to record, so Gustav has to go it alone, much like his hero Neville in Charlton Heston's classic post apocalyptic file "The Omega Man". Find out the how KTCK "The Ticket" shapes the podcast world of North Texas and learn about the podcasts that inspired Can You Hear Me like IJB and Dragon Brag. And learn about Partial Recall, Tell Me Where to Turn and Below the Belt. Plus Gustav rattles off a long list of friends of the show, but if he missed you, email us at canyouhearmepod.com And finally, it's an updated bragging montage which we are sure you are going to love. Dave is back from his pig auction sabbatical to join Glen and Tommy to discuss the 1987 Sylvester Stallone classic – Over The Top – in this special edition of Tell Me Where to Turn.
The guys are back in Episode 31 of the Can You Hear Me podcast with tales of a cab ride gone wrong from the start, a high school homecoming game and new boots. Plus, as usual, there is plenty of non-sequitur nonsense and general tomfoolery. Gustav recounts the recent proselytizing that he and Ty have been busy with in order to promote the podcast. Their trip to Fight Night and the post fight festivities lead Ty leaving his truck in Dallas and Gustav driving him home. But up until this episode, Ty had not told the group his very frustrating morning dealing with a cab driver who could use some customer service coaching. Next it's on to Gustav's tale of his recent trip to a high school homecoming football game (the first he had been to in over 20 years). He has several tales of awkwardness and unfortunate sights. But he also has visions of greatness as patriotism was in full force. Then the boys turn to new boot talk. No one likes to try on new boots (unless you happen to be Ty trying on ten thousand dollar custom boots). But Gustav was faced with boot shopping after his wife and daughter bought him a new pair of boots which didn't fit correctly. Don't forget to check out the Weird Al Yankovick's homage to Charles Nelson Reilly that we mentioned in this episode. https://youtu.be/xLnapb-30hA And as always, check out our podcast friends at Below The Belt, Tell Me Where to Turn and Partial Recall. And go watch Trey's videos on YouTube where he breaks down the cinematic origins of modern video games. https://youtu.be/oAC6FRWho0s Send us your complaints, bigfoot stories, haiku poetry, vague recollections, crazy ideas, questions, and or lingerie pics to canyouhearmepod@gmail.com or tweet at us @realgustav @tywebb3000 @longmireheavy @canyouhearmepod Also follow us Facebook, Tumblr and Instagram. This week finds the Can You Hear Me podcast taking a walk down memory lane and discussing everything from dodgeball to blasting caps. The guys recorded this episode right after they got back from the first ever "Battle of the Bastard Podcasts" meet up at the Pancho's in Denton, Tx. Representatives from Partial Recall (a Generation Y Nostalgia podcast), Below the Belt (a MMA/History podcast), Tell Me Where to Turn (a Guy Talk/Fantasy Sports Betting podcast) and several listeners/emailers such as Tom, J.J. and the Crandyman met up for a lunch of greasy Mexican buffet food and a lot of laughs. The group stuck around and talked for three hours before everyone dispersed and the Can You Hear Me guys headed for Heavy's garage to record. Primed for conversation after the luncheon, Gustav dives head first into vasectomy and uterine ablation talk, much to this dismay of Heavy and Ty. Heavy doesn't have much tolerance for medical procedure talk so he steers the conversation back to some elements that long time listeners may recall: the General, the Dairyman, and the ex-Air Force Pilot P.E. Teacher. Dodgeball was the P.E. Teacher's signature activity and he had the boys play it in a fashion that you just couldn't get away with today. It was kill or be killed and the implements of war were deflated basketballs, footballs and soccer balls with hand holds cut out of them. You can't tell stories about the P.E. Teacher without mentioning the time the General got a Carpenter's Pencil stuck in his mouth in fourth grade. Gustav and Heavy told that story in detail in the first episode of the podcast if you want to go back and revisit it. We touch on some additional tales of the General that involve blasting caps and general shenanigans. And then we remember the Dairyman's war with the Head of the Class teacher and how he infuriated her with a six pack of Texas Select (near beer) on school field trip. There's also some physics class talk as well as fond memories of their chemistry teacher that looked and sounded like a real live version of Lurch from the Addams Family. If you don't already, please subscribe to us on iTunes, Google Play, Stitcher or however you consume podcasts. And if you have any feedback or questions, please feel free to email us at canyouhearmepod@gmail.com The post Blasting Caps, Dodgeball, and Near Beer appeared first on Can You Hear Me?.
In this episode we talk to Elly Hadaway who is a musician, Druid, and Quaker, who is disabled. We talk about the intersections between Druidism and Quakerism, accessibility and sometimes lack thereof, in the pagan community, and her recently released EP “Tell Me Where the Ocean Went” (which you can buy through the BandCamp link below). The song at the end of the show is "I Am The Mountain" from her new album. Elly Hadaway is an English folk singer, ukulele player and songwriter, who's also been a jazz bass player, classical soprano and choral composer. They are a Christo-Pagan Druid, and their work draws on a deep love of nature and a fascination with the stories that lie in landscapes. They spend rather too much time being stuck inside due to their disabilities, and far too little time yomping up mountains and engaging with the Gods."
