Today, instead of an interview, you’ll hear a short public service announcement about tax-loss harvesting.Right now, during this period between the bear market and a potential bull market, where prices are going sideways, it would behoove a lot of people to consider doing some tax-loss harvesting To explain tax-loss harvesting in more detail, you’ll hear from my friend, Zac McClure, co-founder of TokenTax. I personally go to Zac for help with this stuff. In this short episode, you’ll learn: What tax-loss harvesting is What’s allowed and what isn’t How much you can deduct against your ordinary income if you've already used up all your gains The deadlines for tax-loss harvesting And finally, whether you can retroactively apply crypto losses on tax gains you’ve paid for in previous years Sponsors Veil Project Veil defines itself as ‘privacy without compromise’ — providing anonymity through a combination of technologies like RingCT. Saudi Arabia and UAE announced a cryptocurrency project last month. This is part of a seven-point cooperation plan. This project is experimental for now aimed at banks. What does this mean economically, politically, and religiously? During the 2017 Bull Run, there was much debate about if crypto was Halal or Sharia-Compliant. Does this mean that crypto is halal? What does this mean for oil? Saudi Arabia and UAE are two of the largest oil producers in the world. Currently, the oil is denominated in USD. Could this mean that oil could be denominated in crypto in the future? Check us out on Youtube, your favorite podcast player, or on coingamma.com/podcast. Learn how to use Crypto Tax Loss Harvesting to save on your IRS bill with Zac McClure, founder of TokenTax [www.tokentax.co]. We hope you are enjoying the extra time with family and we know taxes are the last thing you want to think about, but we have to remind you that you have only 3 days left to harvest your Crypto Losses. The only benefit to 2018 Crypto Losses is that you can take these losses and use them to offset your tax liability. With that said, you cannot do this just by looking at the negative signs in your crypto portfolio tracker. While those losses may feel real, they are not real until you exit the position. In fact, no loss or gain is realized until you trade out of it. Until then, you are only looking at Unrealized Losses. Once the ball drops on December 31, 2018, you lose the opportunity to make these unrealized losses real in the eyes of the IRS. On this episode, we break down what Tax Loss Harvesting is, how it works, and why 2018 is the best time for Crypto Investors to use this strategy. Use the code "COINGAMMA" to get 10% off any TokenTax plan. Visit tokentax.co for more information.
