It's been a while. We're taking a brief break from The Showers (which I promise we'll finish) to bring you this previously patreon exclusive story. Now is as good a time as any to announce that we're coming back! Why the delay? well, I bought a house earlier this year, and it's taken a while to get a good recording environment set up. I'm very picky about my audio quality, so I haven't been recording anything. Now we're a part of Topless Robot, and I have volunteers helping curate stories for narration. Hopefully this short story whets your appetite until I can record the final part of The Showers. This week, we watched a five year old's spec script, which is still more successful than any movie you've ever written, Monster Trucks. We'll talk about the tumultuous development of the film, the failed toy deals, and how terrible we think the VFX is. Monster Trucks is available to stream on Hulu and rent from most digital storefronts. We're now a part of the Topless Robot podcast network! Please hold your congratulations and instead continue to listen. Follow us on Twitter! @animatedopino2

No it's not a typo (just an inside joke), but we are actually talking about Data East and Data West. This includes the games they developed, published, and even the pinball titles available. It may not seem it, but Data East was a limited and significant developer of the mid-late 80s and just about all of the 90s.Special thanks to Retronauts Episode 88 (1up Run), Brandon Sheffield (and his blog/podcast Insert Credit), as well as Topless Robot for your Data East and extensive Data West information. Also be sure to check out the ASCII RPG/roguelike Sanctuary, for free, at the following address: http://blackshellgames.itch.io/srpg

Children of Time. How far would you go to save someone you love? And to what lengths would regret drive you if a second chance were to present itself? Star Trek has debated the value of the individual on many occasions, but the results and consequences have rarely been as personal as in this time travel story with a twist. In this episode of The Ready Room we're joined by Ben McCormick and Michael Fisher to discuss the fifth-season DS9 episode “Children of Time.” Part love story, part morality play, part bizarre Star Trek “science,” it's an episode that rewards—and disappoints—on many levels. In news we cover a chance to get in on a TNG 25th anniversary mosaic, another Star Trek series coming to Blu-ray, quotable Voyager cards, updates on the Shuttle Galileo restoration project, IDW's December comics, and we take on Topless Robot's list of the seven most useless Star Trek characters. Plus, we make an inordinate number of references to Doctor Who, Greg channels Jake Sisko, and we explore the mystique of the non-farming Klingons.

This week, the TVZ team discusses the further fallout from Frank Darabont's departure from AMC's the Walking Dead. Also, True Blood, the news of the week and an interview with Topless Robot editor Rob Bricken!
The RDA Propaganda episode! But first, the usual problems: many of the cast didn't prepare for our scheduled discussions (RDA: Villains or not, Avatar versus Star Trek, Economics of Unobtanium, and Human Return to Pandora--which has been slated since January) and so they just weren't ready to talk about it. Therefore the discussions sounded like CRAP, and got scrapped. We did include Avatar versus Star Trek, only because Judy saved the day by derailing us to yap about something called "Topless Robot." And of course **my** expensive podcast microphone refused to work because some idiot (me) didn't do a mic/equipment/software compatibility check. So Avatar versus Star Trek has sound quality issues as well as generally being less than stellar. Okay, so now the good news: LOTS and LOTS of fun on Pandora--and finally an episode under an hour. This one clocks in at 27 minutes, with the usual bloopers (from "episode zero") at the end, and the most evilest song ever to be sung. Also, to any Star Trek fans out there: we are just making fun of Star Trek (um... duh, it's an AVATAR podcast, not a Star Trek one), but know that I loved the original series, and the new movie (the reboot). It is all kinds of fun. So, on with the show, and future episodes will be forthcoming, smaller, leaner, and hopefully have better sound quality :-p Ping services

We had our first on air interview in our June 11, 2007 show. Luke Y Thompson, then of OC Weekly, joined us to discuss Independent Genre films and OC Weekly's June 8, 2007 Summer Blockbuster Issue. Luke Y Thompson is a graduate of USC's School of Cinema Television who has been editor-in-chief and staff writer at many irreverent humor and pop-culture news sites including Nerdist, Wizard World, OC Weekly, Forbes, Topless Robot, and Deadline. "The Notorious LYT" combines a sophisticated film school approach with a deep appreciation of popular culture and cult classic films. In many ways, he's a punk rock mashup of Joe Bob Briggs and and John Bloom, but who is always himself. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/geekeratiradio/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/geekeratiradio/support
