Welcome to Dev Game Club, where this week we begin a new series on The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask. We of course set the game first in its time and at Nintendo before turning to the opening and the feel of the game. Dev Game Club looks at classic video games and plays through them over several episodes, providing commentary. In this continuation of the Gate of Flattery (Sha'ar HaChanufah), Rabbi Aryeh Wolbe examines the seventh component: the sin of abstaining from rebuke (tochacha) when one knows the community or individuals are "stiff-necked" (k'shei oref) and unlikely to listen. While it's a mitzvah not to reprove a mocker who will hate you (per Proverbs), one must not assume failure without trying—perhaps the words will penetrate and inspire change. Even righteous people were punished in the Temple's destruction for not rebuking when possible. Silence can imply agreement, especially when hearing lashon hara, profanity, or mockery of Torah/mitzvot; one should speak wisely or zealously defend Hashem's honor (as in Ramchal's Mesilat Yesharim, Ch. 19), showing love for God by hating His enemies and subduing evil influence.Rabbi Wolbe stresses strategic rebuke—knowing the person (e.g., parents sometimes achieve more by silent example than words), avoiding unnecessary hatred, and recognizing when flattery or excessive courtesy to the wicked is forbidden (except out of real fear for safety).       What if the very thing holding you back isn't your body… but your fear? In this week's episode of Be a Warrior Podcast, I'm coming to you in real time  in the middle of something new, uncomfortable, and humbling. If you've been following along, you know last week I talked about life lessons from the ski slopes and how we have to stop looking down at our feet and start looking ahead at what's coming. That lesson didn't end on the mountain. It followed me straight into this week. As an above-knee amputee, I've learned that one of our earliest survival habits is looking down. When you first get your prosthesis, you watch it constantly. You can't feel your foot, so you visually confirm it's there. Every step is deliberate. Every movement is monitored. Adaptive skiing taught me the same lesson when I ski with one leg, my instinct is to look down at my ski to make sure it's under me. But when you look down, you miss what's coming at you. Hazards. Forks in the road. The bigger picture. And that's not just skiing. That's life. This week, I'm leaning into something I do every year  choosing a word that will guide me. My word for 2026 is trust. And wouldn't you know it? I was immediately handed an opportunity to live it. A prosthetics company from France, Hopper, reached out and asked me to try their running blade. Now, if you know me, you know I've used a running blade before. I even completed a 10K during my first year as an amputee adding socks mid-race as my limb volume shrank, hoping my leg would stay on. That race required grit. It required strength. But above all, it required trust. This new blade, however, is different. It required a different knee a microprocessor knee I've never used before. For six years I trusted my Ottobock C-Leg. Last September, I transitioned to the Össur Navi knee because it's waterproof  I can snorkel with it, travel with it, take it into the ocean. I love how it responds. I trust it. And now? I'm back at square one. New knee. New blade. New mechanics. New fear. New Blade- Trust the Process   Hopper Running Blade Standing between parallel bars in an office, with people watching and cameras recording, I felt that old instinct creep back in. Tight muscles. Hesitation. Looking down. Wanting to be good immediately. Wanting to “perform.” Wanting to prove. But trust doesn't grow in 30 minutes under fluorescent lights. So I brought the blade home. And here I am walking in it around my house. Stepping outside. Trying to “run,” which currently looks more like a gallop from a newborn deer. It's awkward. It's humbling. It's vulnerable. And it's exactly where growth happens. Here's what I've realized: when we don't trust, fear takes over. And fear tightens us up. We don't relax into movement. We don't open up. We don't visualize success we visualize what could go wrong. What if I fall? What if I break my wrist? What if I embarrass myself in public? I've fallen before. On sidewalks. In front of cars that didn't even stop to check on me. I've tripped on hikes. I've fallen skiing. And every single time, I learned something. Failure is feedback. On my last ski trip, I intentionally chose the harder side of the slope. Why? Because I realized if I wasn't falling, I probably wasn't pushing. I did fall exhausted from aggressive turns my muscles weren't prepared for. And that fall told me exactly what I needed to strengthen. If we never risk failure, we never gather information. And that applies far beyond prosthetics or skiing. It applies to relationships. To careers. To faith. To stepping into something new. Trust requires us to first identify what we're afraid of. For me, I had to name it: I'm afraid of falling. I'm afraid of being embarrassed. I'm afraid of injury that could set me back. Once I name the fear, I can address it. Once I address it, I can begin building trust.     That's my call to action for you this week. First: choose a word. A guiding word for your year. Maybe it's trust. Maybe it's courage. Maybe it's surrender. Maybe it's strength. But choose something intentional. Second: identify where fear is showing up in your life. Where are you tightening up? Where are you looking down instead of forward? If you're a new amputee and you're exhausted from thinking through every step — I see you. I remember the mental drain of early prosthetic use. I remember wondering if I'd ever be able to carry laundry without watching my foot. And now? I do it without thinking. But it took time. It took repetition. It took falling. It took lifting my chin. If you're not wearing your prosthesis because you don't trust it, the only way through is through. Wear it. Practice in your home. Slow your gait. Gradually lift your eyes forward. You will build that trust, one step at a time. And if your struggle isn't physical — if it's relational, emotional, spiritual — the principle is the same. Face the fear. Name it. Then take one small step toward trust. This week, I'm in the middle of it with you. Learning a new knee. Learning a new blade. Learning to open up again after five years of not truly running. I don't know yet how it will end. But I know this: I won't build trust by standing still. There is a warrior within you. And warriors don't avoid fear they walk straight into it with their chin lifted and their eyes forward. So let's do this together. Choose your word. Face your fear. Trust the process. In this episode of the Jewish Inspiration Podcast, Rabbi Aryeh Wolbe shares a profound insight on Parshas Tetzaveh, inspired by a D'var Torah from Rabbi Blachman (Jerusalem). He stresses avoiding desensitization in a news-saturated world, pursuing peace without quarrels (a Kohen in conflict couldn't serve), and living beyond oneself – feeling others' burdens while maintaining joy (as the Shechinah rests only in simcha). He begins with the joy of Adar ("When Adar enters, joy increases"), the four special Parshiyot read in the lead-up (Shekalim, Zachor, Parah, HaChodesh), and the Fast of Esther (Ta'anit Esther) on the 13th of Adar (Monday, March 2, 2026, from dawn to nightfall), which commemorates the fasts in the Purim story and is lenient for those in need (e.g., pregnant/nursing women, the ill). The pasuk says that Amalek attacked the Jewish People when they were in רפידים and Chazal tell us the reason Amalek was able to attack was because רפו ידיהם מן התורה – the Jewish People became weakened in Torah. Rabbi Menashe Reizman quoted from the Shem M'Shmuel who said in the name of his father the Avnei Nezer that Amelek attacked around the 29 th day of Iyar, just about a week before the Jewish People received the Torah on Har Sinai. At that time, they were counting Sefirat HaOmer , they knew they were rising each day out of the 49 th level of tuma they had been in and they knew they were going to reach the highest levels of kedusha , so how were they able to become weakened in Torah at a time like that? The answer is because they didn't feel any tangible change inside of them. They weren't feeling more spiritual. More than 40 days of the counting had passed and yet they still felt the same as they did before. That caused them to become weak and that was how Amalek was able to attack. The Tiferet Shlomo writes the same thing is happening during this long galut . Without a question we are at the doorstep of Mashiach and when he comes, the Navi tells us, ישפוך ה' רוחו על כל בשר ונבאו בניכם ובנותיכם – Hashem is going to bestow His spirit upon us and our children are going to be nevi'im. We would think that at this time we should feel 99% of the way there, we should feel imbued with the spirit of Hashem, ready to receive prophecy. Yet, in reality, we don't feel that way. The reason, he says, Hashem did it this way is because if we felt like the level we were actually on, it would take away our free will. The enjoyment from those feelings would make it too easy for us to choose good over evil. We are always going to have the Amalek inside of us saying, You're not accomplishing anything. See, you don't feel it. This attitude has caused so many people to become weak in their avodat Hashem. The Jewish People didn't feel the growth that they had a week before Matan Torah , but how great were they in actuality? The following week they received the ultimate level of prophecy, they reached the ultimate level a person could possibly be on, hearing the voice, kavayachol , of HaKadosh Baruch Hu . They had a misunderstanding, they really were on a high level, it's just that Hashem didn't allow them to feel that way, so He could balance their free will. The same applies to us today. A person who is learning and growing might say to himself, I don't feel any change. The Amalek inside of him is saying, you're not growing, the Torah's not affecting you. And because in reality the person doesn't have the feeling he is looking for, he believes Amalek. We must strengthen ourselves and realize, every avodah we do is making us so great. We are rising higher and higher in anticipation of greeting the Mashiach . Specifically because we live in such a depraved world, it makes our avodah that much more valuable. If we stay the course, we will see how much of an effect Torah and mitzvot really is having on us. B'ezrat Hashem, we should merit that glorious day when the Mashiach will come and Hashem will rest His spirit upon us.

Talmud (Sotah) lists them among those excluded from Shechinah.Biblical & Talmudic sources — “Do not tremble before any man” (Deuteronomy); Agrippa story—flattering him as “our brother” led to destruction; “you shall not put a foreigner over you” caused tears and divine displeasure.Practical application — Never justify wickedness—even privately. Rebuke gently when possible; stay silent if they won't listen. Never praise evil to gain benefit. In this Thinking Talmudist episode on Ta'anit 23a, Rabbi Aryeh Wolbe explores the Talmudic teachings on rain as a divine blessing (geshem), its timing, and spiritual lessons from stories of Choni HaMe'agel (Choni the Circle-Maker), the greatest rain-maker in Jewish history.Key points:Rain in its proper time — Rains fall moderately (not oversaturating or leaving earth thirsty) on Wednesday and Friday nights (eves of Thursday/Shabbos) when people are home and inconvenienced minimally (demons are out, Shabbos restrictions limit travel).Excessive rain = curse — Too much rain causes mud and ruins crops; sin turns blessings away (Jeremiah 5:25). In Shimon ben Shetach's days, rains fell only on those nights until wheat kernels grew kidney-sized, barley olive-sized, lentils gold-dinar-sized—saved as examples of how sin causes ruin.Choni HaMe'agel's circle — When no rain fell until Adar, Sanhedrin sent for Choni. He drew a circle, stood in it, and swore by God's great Name he wouldn't leave until rain fell. He prayed for moderate rain (not the light sprinkle or torrents that followed); God responded to his merit. He criticized the generation's inability to handle abundance or scarcity, then prayed for rain to stop—wind blew, clouds dispersed, sun shone.Sanhedrin's praise — They likened Choni to Habakkuk (“I will stand at my post”), saying he uplifted a darkened generation through prayer, saved an “innocent” generation, and brought light to their paths.Lessons — Rain is a direct divine gift; balance is key (too much or too little = curse). Choni's oath was risky (could desecrate God's Name if unfulfilled, like Elijah's drought oath). Truthful, pure prayer brings results; merit can override a generation's sins.
