Fight the power! The first power, that is. Yes folks, it's a film about Lou Diamond Phillips fighting a body-hopping demon... sort of? Nathan and Brendan try to wrap their minds around The First Power starring LDP in a ridiculous jacket and featuring the least organized stakeout in movie police history, people just barging into homes without reason, a horse outrunning a car, an amazing fight scene involving a bag lady and much more. Next week: an ill-advised sequel. Sometimes movie sequels are lackluster or go off the rails, but rarely do they attempt a franchise reinvention. With original Exorcist writer in full control, William Peter Blatty created a new crop tension-building scares with the unconventional, THE EXORCIST III. An often overlooked film, this unsettling story cranks out the creeps and ties in the original blockbuster without being a knockoff, but it wasn’t an easy task to accomplish. ▶️Synopsis: A string of killings lead a police lieutenant to a psychiatric ward where he finds his faith tested, along with uncanny similarities between a dead serial killer & a familiar priest who supposedly died during an infamous exorcism. ⏩⏩Discussions include: How Blatty began his writing career, leading up to The Exorcist, then to the novel which inspired EXORCIST III; backstory, development & methodical emotional escalation of the story, plus drastic reshoots/rewriting of the film’s ending; intentionally extreme tonal shifts & usage of humor; uniquely abstract & ambient synth-heavy score; cast performances & bit parts; reception over the years, resurrected original ending, on-set stories & our favorite scenes. **Starring George C. Scott, Ed Flanders, Brad Dourif, Jason Miller. Directed by William Peter Blatty.** ▶️**PICKS OF THE WEEK** —Lindsay’s Pick, CHILD’S PLAY II (1990): The serial killer living inside a doll named Chucky is reanimated, out for revenge & determined to possess the body of his previous victim. **Starring Alex Vincent, Brad Dourif, Christine Elise. Directed by John Lafia.** —Justin’s Pick, THE FIRST POWER (1990): A detective must track a serial killer put to death, then resurrected by Satan & given supernatural powers. **Starring Lou Diamond Phillips, Tracy Griffith, Jeff Kober. Directed by Robert Resnikoff.** ▶️MURRAYMOMENT: On Sister Nancy Murray, Billy’s older sibling, becoming a nun, the reaction of her family, her acting career and shared family traits. ▶️FINAL THOUGHTS: Reshooting EXORCIST III’s climax, plus THE X-FILES and SEVEN connections to the film. ⏩Next Up: GINGER SNAPS (2000)!
Part 2 with Zephyr Khambatta from Singapore, whom I met on a Mindvalley Quest. We have connected and started chatting only to realise that we have many interests in common. During this 2nd Interview we focused more on his spiritual awakening, how he produced a song a lone and has now a music video on MTV and VH1, we talk about Meditations and what creativity is for him. Zephyr lives in Singapore and is a mind-body-spirit healer, musician, and sports coach. Best described as an open and friendly man that loves to talk and inspire others with truth. His spiritual awakening started with him wanting to create and produce a song from scratch alone, and then have it published on MTV and VH1. During that 6 months he had a lot of free time to think and started having thoughts about the world and humanity. When he opened up and shared those thoughts on Facebook he was first afraid of what others might think of him.Surprisingly people reached out to him and helped him understand that he went through an awakening. That was 4 years ago. Parts of his awakening included: A 3 day retreat in a Hotel asking himself “What does really matter to me?”. Health Stumbling over the book Conversation with God Realising that he always had a spiritual part, a connection with nature and healing Doing past life therapy, Tarot card reading, energy work and Learning to be a Reiki partitioner His 6 months long project to produce a song and then have a music video on MTV and VH1 has taught him much, and he now helps musicians that want to become recording artists themselves. It is a costly program and takes a lot of energy and time. The person also needs to be ready for the change. It is a mindset change that needs to happen in the person. (This program is currently on hold) Creativity is when you are going with the flow. When you remove the interruptions. Be with yourself. This could be meaning 4-6 hours or more where your disconnect from any distraction and focus on your creative work. Don't judge if the output is not as expected. You still came a step closer. It is difficult to get anything done in a 30min time slot when being creative. Creativity Killer: Stuck people, noises from people criticising, how comes your are not successful, how will you make money etc. Meditation Practices: Sadhguru “Isha Kriya” (morning & evening) Tracy Griffith, Chakra clearing mediation, Aroma Yoga Reiki Partitioner, give healings to others and himself every day Grounding, Place feet on grass sand or water Workout, feeling the body without music Going into nature and speaking to his higher self, guides and angles Quote: A square will never understand the possibility and balance which a circle brings. Call to Action: Full Body Coaching For Health & Wellness, Lose Fats and Sculpt The Body Of Your Dreams Reiki Distance Healing (Available Internationally) Spiritual Card Readings & Counselling Help people navigate an awakening Links: Zephyr Khambatta on Social Media (FB, YouTube, Twitter, Instagram) www.zephyrkhambatta.com Three Part Human on Social Media (FB, YouTube, Twitter, Instagram) www.threeparthuman.com The T5 Method - The Top To Toe Transformation www.thetoptotoetransformation.com Sail Away (Official Music Video) www.youtube.com/watch?v=yM2o_0z1dQg --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/schirach/message
