I don't think that Fantasy Island was a show that was meant for the entire family, but with my family's liberal bedtime and television policy, it became a hit with my sisters and I. Half the time, I didn't really understand what was going on, but the show was mysterious and exciting. So every week I looked forward to watching it, and when I discovered it was shown in re-runs, I would check it out there as well. Then one day, my sister asked a great questions, “What is Mr. Roarke?” It was a simple questions, but would have an effect on how I consumed media moving forward. I start the podcast talking about how that questions came up before moving onto the show itself, where I do find an answer to it. Maybe its not an official answer, but its pretty close. Then I talk about the show's development, production, cast, broadcast, and much more. The idea behind Fantasy Island is strong. Strong enough that they have attempted to re-use the idea multiple times. Which is why I don't understand how the full run of the show isn't on physical media. It is a show that's future I worry about, and I hope it gets a few of you to check it out and/or revisit it.

I've got a family history with moonshine. It started when I was a little kid riding around on my grandfather's tractor. He always had a half gallon Mayfield milk jug full of something or other he'd periodically take a swig from and, yes, more often than not the later on in the day it got, the more likely we were to end up in a ditch but that was all part of the fun of our time together. Later I learned he was a part of the illicit trade selling homebrew supplies out the back of his grocery store and was investigated by the AFT, the revenuers to us. We've got a locally famous peach brandy recipe made with a touch of molasses, ok maybe more than a touch. So, you couple that with the fact that I'm the Editor-In-Chief of Comic Book Yeti where we are all about those cryptids and it felt like a no brainer to reach out to the creative team of the new Image Comics series Moonshine Bigfoot. I wrangled industry vet Zach Howard and his protégé Clara Meath on with me to hear all about it. I've been trying to cover more comedy comics projects lately, and this is by far one of the best I've seen in some time. I adore this book. Sharon Scott Williams bares her soul in a play called Crazy Mama, a powerful, personal story that's at once unique and wholly relatable. It's about family, mental illness and the bonds and devotion that propel us to protect and defend those we hold dear.  Crazy Mama is running at the Rubicon Theatre in Ventura, CA March 26 - April 6, 2025. It stars Linda Purl and is directed by Anson Williams, both icons of classic TV, including Happy Days, and one of whom is married to playwright Sharon Scott Williams. The ensuing events led to extended hospitalization and a diagnosis of paranoid schizophrenia. Marc Hunt, a 2012 inductee in the Buffalo Music Hall of Fame, joined Rockabilly Greg In the Flamingo Lounge on November 18, 2024. Marc has performed on, produced and engineered over 100 local recording sessions including the “Goo Goo Dolls” and more. Marc studied guitar and piano at Berklee College of Music in Boston.  As a performer, Marc has been nominated for several local music awards. He is a former member of the band “Bobo” and “The Pillagers” and is currently a Bass Player at “The Cloves”. Interestingly, Marc spent many summers playing a deputy and outlaw for Fantasy Island. Marc is an educator active in the community and has been published in musical education magazines and journals. Marc was a Stage Technician for Walt Disney World Entertainment in Orlando where he handled staging lighting and audio equipment along with mixing for live theatre. Marc was owner and chief engineer of EarCandy Audio, a studio that catered to local artists. He was Chief Engineer for Chameleonwest Recording Studios. He is a member of the Audio Engineering Society (AES) and is a certified ProTools engineer. He started the EDGE Sessions with Rich Wall.  Marc is active in the community and is an original board member of Music is Art and is a Teacher of Video Production & Recording Arts at Erie 1 BOCES Calspan.

She began her acting career in 1979, where she portrayed the character of ‘Mary Beth Denton' in a television film titled ‘When Hell was in Session.' After appearing in a made-for-TV movie titled ‘When She Was Bad…' in the same year, she made her feature film debut in 1980. She was cast opposite Jacqueline Bisset and Candice Bergen, for playing the role of ‘Debby Blake,' the young daughter of Bergen's character in her debut movie ‘Rich and Famous.' In the same year, she lent her voice for Dennis's sworn adversary, the snotty Margaret Wade in ‘Dennis the Menace in Mayday for Mother.' It was the first animated adaptation in the Dennis the Menace trilogy.During the early and mid-1980s, Nicole appeared in a number of television shows and some major films including her twin television shows in 1981 viz., ‘Today's F.B.I' and ‘Fantasy Island,' ‘The Clan of the Cave Bear' and ‘I Dream of Jeannie... Nigel's guest today is Steve Grant. Steve is one of the most famous faces (and bodies) from the 80s UK pop scene. He was, and still continues to be, a member of Tight Fit whose pop tunes like The Lion Sleeps Tonight and Fantasy Island shot up the charts in the early 1980s. Steve's appearance in a loincloth and not much else on Top Of The Pops when The Lion Sleeps Tonight hit number one, was a homoerotic dream and gave me, and doubtless countless other young queer boys their first sexual awakening. But Steve had to hide his own queerness to the world and later deal with the band imploding, his partner dying and a devastating HIV diagnosis. This series is a celebration of a beautiful queer community; people of all ages, people who have had to tread their own path to live their real truth, who have fought with their emotions and emerged victorious, who inspire, who aspire and always entertain. Until 1976, Dennis James appeared on television more times than any other TV star. He was the first person to raise more than $750 million for United Cerebral Palsy. He hosted the Cerebral Palsy Telethon for 47 years with Paul Anka, Florence Henderson, and others. Dennis started out in radio at WAAT in Jersey City and then WNEW in New York City.  On television he worked on “The Price is Right,” “Let's Make a Deal,” and “Truth or Consequences.” Dennis guest starred on “77 Sunset Strip” and “Fantasy Island.” On the big screen he appeared in “Rocky III” and others. He was the on-air spokesperson for Old Gold cigarettes and Kellogg's cereals.

The movie is also notable for its ensemble cast of familiar faces from Flopcast favorites like Love Boat, Fantasy Island, Brady Bunch, Batman, Lost Saucer, and even Pink Lady and Jeff. Get ready for some wacky (and problematic and cringeworthy) record store hijinks that completely fail to entertain.
