Is America on the brink of economic collapse—or on the edge of a financial revolution? In this explosive episode of The National Security Hour, host Lt. Col. Sargis Sangari is joined by economist Christian Briggs and intel expert Ron Rees for a no-holds-barred breakdown of President Trump's tariff pause, the unraveling of U.S. monetary dominance, and the rise of the BRICS alliance. With $10 trillion in U.S. debt maturing in 2025, a weaponized currency war brewing, and the dollar slipping behind gold and the euro, can Trump outmaneuver this geopolitical quagmire before it's too late? Discover how China, Russia, and the EU are colluding to dethrone the dollar, why gold may become the last line of defense, and why this battle isn't just about money—it's about survival. Brace yourself. This isn't politics. This is economic warfare.

Reaching The Summit With SCOTT KENNEDY From BLEED FROM WITHIN

HEAVY Music Interviews

Play Episode Listen Later Apr 5, 2025 9:35

Interview by Kris PetersTwo decades into any career and you would be forgiven for starting to grow stale or formulaic. Be it an office job, labouring, or even in the music industry, the old saying familiarity breeds contempt holds firm. But try telling that to Scottish metal outfit Bleed From Within who, after 20 years in the music scene, have reached their peak - their Zenith, if you will. The Glasgow firebrands are one of the hardest working acts in metal: playing shows globally with everyone from Megadeth to Slipknot, all while writing and regularly releasing monstrous, exhilarating songs. The upward journey reaches new heights on their seventh album, Zenith, which contains the band's heaviest, catchiest and most intrepid music to date. The band's first two albums, Humanity (2009) and Empire (2010), made Bleed From Within cult figureheads in the deathcore scene, before Uprising (2013) broadened their palate with groove metal adrenaline and melodic death metal prowess. It also marked their major-label debut, catapulting them onto tours with heavy royalty. In 2018, the band returned with the ferocious Era. Then, follow-ups Fracture (2020) and Shrine (2022) proved their greatest triumphs to date, intertwining vocalist Scott Kennedy's snarls with Steven Jones' majestic singing. The millions of streams gathered by such singles as The End of All We Know, Into Nothing and Levitate proved Bleed had become the next big thing. Now, on Zenith – announced ahead of career-affirming tours with Slipknot, Trivium and Bullet for My Valentine – the quintet are primed to leap into superstardom.HEAVY spoke with frontman Scott Kennedy to go deeper into Zenith."It feels like we've been waiting so long to drop this album," he sighed. "So, I'm buzzing for it to finally get out. I think it's the best collection of songs we've ever done and I'm desperate for people to hear it."We ask Kennedy to talk us through what Bleed From Within were going for musically with Zenith."To be honest, with Bleed From Within there's never really any concepts or anything like that," he replied. "It's more just about - for me personally - the songs are always about what I'm going through at that point in my life. I always try to write from the heart and write songs that are really meaningful because I don't want to go on stage and sing a song that doesn't really mean anything to me. I don't just want to go on and sing any old shit to the crowd. With Bleeding From Within it's just always about writing the best collection of metal songs that we possibly can, and I truthfully believe that this is the best collection of metal songs we've ever written."In the full interview, Scott discussed Zenith further, expressing his excitement about what he considers their best work to date. He highlighted the opening track Violent Nature for its heavy and fast nature, and elaborated on the collaborative songwriting process among band members, emphasizing a natural evolution in their music.Scott also mentioned Bleed From Within's experimentation with various musical elements, including strings and guest vocalists, to achieve a distinctive sound. The discussion wrapped up with a mention of upcoming tour plans and festivals following the album's release.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/heavy-music-interviews--2687660/support.

Send us a textApril 2025 marks the 10th anniversary of the #BaltimoreUprising, a series of protests sparked by Freddie Gray's death in Baltimore Police custody in 2015.Baltimore has long reflected America's racial and political anxieties, making the Uprising a frequent subject of academic analysis. In this episode, Leaders of a Beautiful Struggle's Lawrence Grandpre and Dayvon Love critique two books: Beyond Black Lives Matter by Cedric Johnson and Invisible Weapons by Marcus Board Jr.While Johnson critiques BLM and Board affirms it, both argue that Baltimore's working-class grassroots were misled by neoliberalism, rendering their responses to Freddie Gray ineffective. This view overlooks successful grassroots political interventions by groups like LBS, which led protests during the Uprising and continues to advance community-driven agendas. By oversimplifying Black identity as manipulation by elites—whether through neoliberalism (Johnson) or patriarchy (Board)—both books fail to capture the political and ideological complexity of Baltimore's working-class Black communities. They also neglect to examine how academic detachment can distort analyses of Baltimore, Black life, and Black politics.Support the showIn Search of Black Power is a Black-owned internet show and podcast. The First Wiradyuri War of Resistance ended in 1824 with a series of massacres conducted by settlers in the Bathurst region. From the 1830s, colonists began occupying more and more Aboriginal land across western New South Wales and stocking it with sheep and cattle. By 1838, a dramatic fightback began across the entire frontier of the colony. What has been called the Second Wiradyuri War of Resistance, from 1839 to 1841, was, in fact, part of a vast arc of conflict from present-day northern Victoria through to southeast Queensland. At the time, it was seen by many contemporaries as a concerted and coordinated ‘uprising'.In Uprising, Stephen Gapps reveals the incredible story of this extensive frontier resistance warfare for the first time – a series of wars that were conducted along a huge area of the Murray-Darling river system, across many First Nations' lands, in a concerted defence of River Country. In this episode Gregory Dobbs chats to Stephen Gapps about why we are yet to fully recognise that the colonisation of Australia was achieved through frontier wars, how wool was one of the prime economic drivers for the invasion, the extensive networks of communication that existed for First Nations across the colony of New South Wales and why memorials to this war should form part of our national remembrance.

As we've mentioned many times before on the show, movements today are a part of a legacy of extraordinary actions taken by ordinary people. Tapping into our own labor history provides us with a blueprint for action in today's turbulent world.   On March 25th, 1911, a fire began in the scrap bins under a cutter's table on the 8th floor of the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory in New York City. Within minutes, the entire floor was engulfed in flames, spreading to the ninth floor and 10th floors–where 200+ workers were just finishing up to go home for the night. By the time workers were alerted to the conflagration, options for escaping the fire were few. By the time the fire was brought under control, 146 workers were dead. New York City saw sweeping reforms in the aftermath of the fire, catapulting some pro-reform lobbyists like Francis Perkins all the way to the highest halls of government with the introduction of the New Deal 20 years later.    Near the 114th anniversary of this tragedy, Mel sat down with labor historian Dr. Erik Loomis, professor at the University of Rhode Island and author of his forthcoming book, “Organizing America: Stories of Americans Who Fought for Justice” to talk about the struggle for better working conditions in the garment industry in New York City, the fire itself and the reforms enacted afterwards, and why it's important to learn from our own labor history in this current moment.   Additional links/info: Cornell University - ILR School: Remembering the 1911 Triangle Factory Fire Dr. Erik Loomis on Bluesky More information about Dr. Loomis's forthcoming book, “Organizing America”   Permanent links below… Leave us a voicemail and we might play it on the show! Greg shares his journey of overcoming severe health challenges through molecular hydrogen and how this powerful antioxidant can optimize cellular health, reduce oxidative stress, and support overall well-being. From uncovering groundbreaking research in Japan to witnessing his father's recovery from arthritis, Greg dives deep into the science and potential of hydrogen therapy. He also sheds light on common misconceptions, warning about low-quality hydrogen products that may do more harm than good. The Salad With a Side of Fries podcast is hosted by Jenn Trepeck, discussing wellness and weight loss for real life, clearing up the myths, misinformation, bad science & marketing surrounding our nutrition knowledge and the food industry. Let's dive into wellness and weight loss for real life, including drinking, eating out, and skipping the grocery store. IN THIS EPISODE: (05:13) Greg shares his healing journey using molecular hydrogen (14:10) How Japan has integrated hydrogen therapy into medical practice(18:55) Greg shares his father's story of recovery from arthritis(27:00) Greg talks about the continuing research of molecular hydrogen (34:57) How does hydrogen create these positive results in cellular health(42:52) Quality is keyKEY TAKEAWAYS: Greg shares his journey of overcoming severe health challenges by incorporating molecular hydrogen into his routine. He warns about misleading hydrogen products, particularly hydrogen tablets, which may contain harmful compounds and alter water's pH in undesirable ways.Despite promising results and increasing research, molecular hydrogen therapy remains relatively unknown in mainstream healthcare. Greg noted that Japan has integrated hydrogen therapy into medical practice, while in the U.S., financial interests and misinformation may be slowing its adoption. Hydrogen is significantly smaller than other antioxidants, allowing it to reach deep into the mitochondria and every part of the body where other antioxidants cannot. This makes it particularly effective in combating oxidative stress linked to inflammation and various diseases.QUOTES:(11:08) “It's important to use hydrogen properly because it needs to be safe, but you want it to be effective. So we want it to work.” Greg the Hydrogen Man(21:41) “We don't realize the value of our health until it's jeopardized. Right? And then we realize how little these other things matter.” Jenn Trepeck(36:27) “They put hydrogen there because they had already seen that it was having a positive effect on all these medical conditions.” Greg the Hydrogen Man(37:26) “Inflammation is essentially the source of all sickness, illness, disease. It is oxidative stress, like the rusting of our insides.” Jenn Trepeck(40:04) “Hydrogen is the most abundant element.” Jenn Trepeck(48:51) “When we can increase the nutrient density and the way nutrients reach the different body parts, there's so much possibility.” Jenn TrepeckRESOURCES:Become A Member of Salad with a Side of FriesJenn's Free Menu PlanA Salad With a Side of FriesA Salad With A Side Of Fries MerchA Salad With a Side of Fries InstagramBiostack Over BiohackBecome a Member to Receive 10% Discount off H2 TabsNutrition Nugget: AntioxidantsWhat's Your Biological AgeGUEST RESOURCES:Uprising144K Hydrogen Man - PodcastGreg Hman - InstagramHoly Hydrogen Machine - WebsiteMy Pure Water - Carbon Distiller - WebsiteGUEST BIOGRAPHY: Greg the Hydrogen Man is a molecular hydrogen therapy specialist, researcher, and host of the popular YouTube channel Uprising144K. Studying the complex compound for four years, he implemented it into his health regimen and reversed his health challenges.
