Hope. Fatherhood. Pting. The midpoint of series 11 is where the era well and truly solidified. What did this episode present us with? Where did the idea for the Pting come from? Welcome to our Doctor Who Review podcast and we are putting the Jodie Whittaker story 'The Tsuranga Conundrum' Around The Console. https://twitter.com/atheconsole https://www.facebook.com/Around-the-console-103450838818887 https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCPpa1cf63YOT8DlUllsjXsw
If you're going to attempt a tense thriller in Doctor Who, sometimes the horror can get really intense, such as in The Waters of Mars. And sometimes it can go 100% in the other direction and serve up an unexpected monster in the form of a baby-faced cartoon character, such as here, in The Tsuranga Conundrum. Is one approach superior to the other? We're here to say, definitively, yes. Yep, the Pting's bad — there's no way around it — but as long as we have Brett Goldstein's eyebrows to lose ourselves in, we should be fine. Commentary for The Tsuranga Conundrum begins at 27:13. We Watch "The Tsuranga Conundrum" (Series 11, Episode 5) where the Who Crew wakes up on the titular medical ship after a metal detecting mission goes horribly wrong. Whilst recuperating on the Tsuranga, the Doctor battles latest-enemy-of-the-week-Pting (definitely not Stitch... OK Disney lawyers?) to keep them from eating the ship, Graham and Ryan play mid-husband assisting Yoss in the birth of his own baby (in case I haven't made it clear enough... Yoss is a dude birthing a baby from his own body... OK?) and Yaz... helps? This episode has been brought to you by show producers trying to figure out how to write for two female leads.
An overlooked Futurama reference and the literal handwaving of interplanetary navigation whilst wearing marigolds. Not bad!

Joe & Jason; courting contention! Exposition, cute monsters, talking about adventures more exciting than what we're watching, great sets, a verbose Doctor, close ups, pretty people, and a pregnant man. Where else but Doctor Who?
This is the one where the Doctor and her companions blow up, fight a black hole, give birth, pilot a ship with their mind, make up some diseases, and defend CERN with not phasers. The post 163 The Tsuranga Conundrum appeared first on Noobs & the Whovian.

You say Tsuranga, I say Tsurunga. You say Pting, I say Ptang. Let's turn the whole ship around. A Doctor among doctors, the heart of a pilot, and a baby in seven days, we'll talk about it all, or as much as we can in 13 minutes. Hosted by Kyle Olson and Rob Kubasko Originally uploaded on 11/13/2018
A lot of great banter and some actual discussion about plot and character? Surely this must be a different podcast. Enjoy!
Giant spiders invade a hotel ("Arachnids in the UK"), then The Doctor and her "fam" must stop Stitch from eating a space-ambulance ("The Tsuranga Conundrum"). Please visit our Patreon page at patreon.com/edge.
PTING BUTT, we ruminate on the mundane -isms of this episode, and a Steve Jobs approved space ship.
So Orphan 55 was that green haired kid, right? Despite the tantalizing deep space squid, we're instead trapped this week on a mysterious planet in a resort under siege by the dregs of humanity, but that's nothing a few well-placed bombs can't solve. We discuss the efficacy of the Doctor's speech and what it should mean for next week, but won't. Opening music is "Tsuranga" by Segun Akinola from series 11 and closing music is "Have a Drink on Me" from AC/DC's 1980 album "Back in Black". We recorded this episode on 12 January 2020.
We call it sky surfing here. When I heard the name of this episode I kind of imagined it as an almost Kobayashi Maru situation. You know in Star Trek, it’s the no win situation that Kirk cheats at to win, and that cheating is the reason he gets given the captain’s chair because theyContinue reading →

It's the Tonga Congo! You know, that episode with the hospital ship and the little alien and the pregnant man. The episode that's really rubbish, you know the one. Certainly Chris thought he knew that when sitting down with Joe to rewatch it for the final dregs of this, the Eleventh Hour Podcast and yet hearts and minds are always subject to change. Could you be about to bear witness to that amazing, human experience? Or will the podcast just confirm how poor the episode is once again? Find out! eleventhhourpodcast@gmail.com

Episode 29 is available for you to listen. This episode we needed all the help we could get to discuss Episode 5 and 6 of Series 11 so we managed to bring back TheDoctorOfWho to do so. We also talk the change from a Christmas special to a New Year's Day special as well as the rumour that there will be no Doctor Who in 2019. Summary: Adam J Purcell, Andy Simpkins and Keith Dunn sit down, hospitalised, in front of the 2018 Doctor Who episode, ‘The Tsuranga Conundrum’, and spout our usual nonsense! The Doctor isn’t feeling herself, Yaz needs to kick the monster and Graham has become a doula. But enough of their problems, please sit down with us […]

The Nerd & The Commander are joined by actor Colin Smith to discuss The Tsuranga Conundrum - one of the most divisive Doctor Who episodes ever! Adam and I talk about Doctor Who Series 11, Episodes 5 (The Tsuranga Conundrum) and 6 (Demons of the Punjab). We didn't care for Tsuranga but both quite enjoyed Demons of the Punjab. On this most adventure filled episode of Doctor Who Wednesdays we Talk about 3 Different adventures The Doctor and The Companions went on. The newest of which is Jodie Whittaker and her gangs happen stance of being on a fully automated rescue ship a few days trip from the TARDIS just as a space creature called The Pting latches onto the ship and begins to devourer everything in sight. The next one is the beginning of an adventure with the 8th Doctor. Paul McGann's 8th Doctor was short lived on the small screen, but he as lived on in The Big Finish's Audio Plays. Where we begin in this sense is The Doom Coalition. In Doom Coalition 1 ,a 4 episode box set, we meet The Eleven a Time Lord with 11 different regenerations that all happened at once thus rendering him mad. across these 4 story's the Doctor and his companions are chasing the escaped Eleven though time and space only to find there selves in what seems maybe a trap. Then lastly we have The Mind Robber. A Classic Second Doctor adventure with Companions Jamie and Zoey where the TARDIS is stuck between dimensions. Upon leaving the TARDIS the gang finds themselves in a series of literary riddles as a test to see if The Doctor is a fit for a "greater" purpose. Ben and Tsuranga, er David, meet the Pting. David thought the "Conundrum" episode was an improvement over last week, but Ben found it a bit dull. Was the Pting really Beep the Meep from DWM comics, Nibbler from Futurama, Stich without Lilo, or maybe just Gremlin? Maybe it should have been called the Chb'nall? Maybe this was Star Trek or some other generic sci-fi show. Character moments seemed to be bit of a miss this week too. The two wonder if Chibnall really did have much of a plan for series 11? Opening music is from the 1957 hit by the Edsels, "Rama Lama Ding Dong". Closing comedy is from the "Silly Vicar" Monty Python sketch and closing music is "Polepole" by Segun Akinola from "Expedition Volcano".

We get in some proper debating in this episode, albeit in the most happy and agreeable of ways! Allison really enjoyed this episode, Alasdair had some reservations, and we end up meeting somewhere in the middle. Topics include: What sets apart Chris Chibnall's sci-fi world-building? How does the Doctor's gender inform the scene where she's called out for being selfish? Is it possible to do a successful male pregnancy subplot? Just how many characters can this show pay time and attention to before poor Yaz gets a look-in? All that and more, so come listen!
