A few years later he began playing and he has been deejaying since the mid 90′s across clubs in Scandinavia and also in Australia. His focus and style in his DJ sets is to play dark, raw and industrial Techno but always with a touch of groovy beats. You will also know him through hard work, creativity, and to always deliver the highest level. For a short time he also organized club nights with friends in Gothenburg underground scene with the club Hideout. Influenced by old school House and modern Tech House/Techno, Martin Ace started producing his own music in 2010. Which led to his first EP was released in 2012 on the Portuguese label Maintain Replay Records. His biggest release so far, was on John Henry Records (Zoo Brazil label) in late 2012. Coimbra EP in collaboration with Linus K obtained support by artist like Dubfire, Richie Hawtin, Umek, Paco Osuna, Whebba, Lugi Rocca, Luciano, Sergio Fernandez, Ant Brooks, Cristian Varela, Slam etc.. This week on Obscure Sessions we welcome 'Mark D-Funktion' for an exclusive interview and 2 hour guest mix on Hoxton fm streamed live from Trafik Bar in Hoxton. Mark Ramsey aka Mark D FunKtion was born in South East London, from an early age he absorbed a multiple diet of music such as Ska and Soca from his mother and his brothers extensive collection of rear groove, hip hop, Chicago, Acid and Detroit house.At the early age of 14 he would play a mixture of soul, hip hop and Jungle at house and college parties, Mark was driven more towards the underground sound and would find himself every weekend hanging out at his local record shops in London. In the late 90's Mark landed slots on multiple radio stations across London and gained a following playing UK Garage each week to a mass audience across the UK.In 2000 Mark decided to learn music production at the British Academy of New Music (East London) and over the comming years took it seriously and naturally found himself draw to Minimal and Techno which he was more in tune to because of the percussive and raw bass driven elements. Mark's first success came in 2008 with the release of U - TURN that was a massive success in the Beatport minimal chart reaching number 2 for one month. His next release was on Autist Recordings Germany with a track entitled Banana man which hit number 10 in the beatport Minimal Chart also. Mark has since played all over europe and now has recently moved to ibiza were is music has taken the next step, with his new Alias Mark D FunKtion where he has already released on Area Remote and Stranjjur Recordings NYC.Mark's tracks have already been supported by the likes of Richie Hawtins, Joris Voorn, 2000 and One, Whebba, Kev Obrien, André Galluzzi, Mendo to name a few 2013 is the start of something special for Mark D FunKtion.Mark Ramsey’s mission for music is clear: to bring charisma, passion, flavor and flow to the dance floor, an ever-expanding, pulsing wonderland full of mashed-up beats, sun-drenched soul-vibes and powerful percussion that people can dance, dip and move through. If you ask him, what is most important in his life...he will answer to you: The Beat, The Drums, The Bassline...The Rythm of the Heart: HOUSE MUSIC!!! As long as he can remember he loved music...the Hard Rock of the 70's, the New Romantic Style of the 80's, the Beat of the 90's...in all this years of spinning around he never lost his feeling, always for the next evoluiton step. The reason is maybe that he lived most of his life as a Globetrotter, born in Vienna, growen up in Germany, for short periods he lived in Croatia, Switzerland, Spain and checking out club's all around the Globe as an Partyanimal. He's DJ career started in 1987 in a small club in Dubrovnik/Croatia, where he played commercial records for the first time. In 1991 his journey took him back to Augsburg/Germany, where he was quickly noticed and regulary hired to play in numerous Club's and Festivals, also in 1993, one sunday morning, he invited some people to a Club in Augsburg just to continue one party – the After Party was born!!! For years was this Club in one basement, almost every sunday morning the last exit for Partypeople! In 1994 he opened his first Club called XTC in Augsburg. After 6 successful years he left Germany and went back to Ljubljana/Slovenia to open a new Club called KRA KRA for students. And in 2002 with the opening of his second Club SING SING he finally discovered he's love for House Music. One year later he started again to organize After Party's and introduced himself to a larger audience side by side together with UMEK and other important DJ's in Slovenia. The „King of Afterhour“ was born! From 2005 till 2008 he was resident DJ and promoter of the biggest Club in Ljubljana, called FACTORY, In 2007 he played for the first time on Ibiza, that year he also celebrated his 40th birtday and 20th anniversary being a DJ together with 30 DJ's and over 1000 friends. The same year he recorded with his production ZERO ABSENCE his first track „ I found a Star“ and produced also a video during the AMNESIA WORLD TOUR 2007 (People from Ibiza). The track became a National Nr.1 hit and after the release for Behold Recordings/Miami he was invited to present the track at 6 gigs during the WMC 2008 Till now he played almost worldwide, from Miami to Ibiza, from London to the island of Pag – the Croatian Ibiza...(Club PAPAYA)...Italy, Turkey, Austria, Spain...etc. After more then 20 years of playing across the world side by side with the biggest names of Housemusic, 2008 he took a personal break...2011 will be he's year again !!! This week's artist is the Croatian Dj and producer Miss Sunshine. She begun her journey on the radio show "Clubhopping" the first "on air" radio show in her area at that time and landed a prime residency at the Oxygen club and later Vega Club in Croatia. Sunshine has worked with some of the industry most renowned artist's like Tom Hades and Whebba and played on festivals such as EXIT, Valkana Beach and Sunrise Festival along with many others.In 2009 she joined "Queens of Minimal Techno" with Viktoria Rebeka hosting techno events across Europe. Over the years Sunshine has built up a varied list of DJs/Producers that she has played with.
