Before the Conference League anthem came on in Celje Slovenia, one warm August night this year, today's guest had a lot of work behind him already while I was was on my way via train, uber and rental car from Bosnia. He is Rok Gregoric, press and pr wizard of NK Celje, a Slovenian club that was long a middling in the league of an already small country but has made it to the group phase of the conference league last year and again this year. A remarkable feat for a really pretty quiet city between the two main Slovenian cities Ljubljana and Maribor. Find out why. But also: what goes on in a smaller club when a UEFA competition comes to town? How do they coordinate with the visitors? What security arrangements have to be made? Where does all the UEFA signage come from? Which media gets which access? Rok takes us behind the scenes of his work, and shares about the club and the city - and a remarkable coach. Opera združuje elemente glasbe, gibanja in improvizacije.

We sit down with Adela Hîncu, historian and editor of the volume Texts and Contexts from the History of Feminism and Women's Rights East Central Europe, Second Half of the Twentieth Century (2024) to discuss feminist thought in post World War 2 socialist East Central Europe.Book description:A compendium of one hundred sources, preceded by a short author's bio and an introduction, this volume offers an English language selection of the most representative texts on feminism and women's rights from East Central Europe between the end of the Second World War and the early 1990s. While communist era is the primary focus, the interwar years and the post-1989 transition period also receive attention. All texts are new translations from the original. The book is organised around themes instead of countries; the similarities and differences between nations are nevertheless pointed out. The editors consider women not only in their local context, but also in conjunction with other systems of thought—including shared agendas with socialism, liberalism, nationalism, and even eugenics. The choice of texts seeks to demonstrate how feminism as political thought was shaped and organised in the region. They vary in type and format from political treatises, philosophy to literary works, even films and the visual arts, with the necessary inclusion of the personal and the private. Women's political rights, right to education, their role in nation-building, women, and war (and especially women and peace) are part of the anthology, alongside the gendered division of labour, violence against women, the body, and reproduction.https://www.aup.nl/en/book/9789633864548/texts-and-contexts-from-the-history-of-feminism-and-womens-rightsopen access pdf: https://library.oapen.org/bitstream/handle/20.500.12657/98220/9789633864548.pdfAdela Hîncu is an intellectual historian who focuses on the history of social sciences, Marxist social theory, and women's political thought in Romania and East Central Europe after the Second World War. Currently a Marie Curie fellow at the Institute of Contemporary History in Ljubljana, she researches the transnational history of social expertize from Eastern Europe from the 1970s to the early 2000s.

World War II in Europe left both victorious and vanquished countries devastated; yet within weeks of the end of hostilities on September 9, 1945, an automobile race was held in Paris' Bois de Boulogne. This presentation addresses the questions: where did the financial and material resources for an active post-war racing program come from, and perhaps even more importantly, why were they expended in what many might regard as a non-essential- or perhaps even frivolous - activity? Skip McGoun is the William H. Dunkak Emeritus Professor of Finance at Bucknell University and was a long-term Visiting Professor at the University of Ljubljana in Slovenia and at the University of Donja Gorija in Montenegro.

She is currently on faculty at Jump dance convention. Nika's choreography can be seen on prime time television shows such as Fox TV's So You Think You Can Dance and The Masked Singer, CBS's Come Dance With Me, and more, and in both live and virtual arenas across the world - to name only two of many, Nika choreographed for Taiwanese “Queen of C-Pop” Jolin Cai's Ugly Beauty World Tour in 2019 and J. Balvin's Live TikTok Concert Performance in 2021. In 2018, Nika was a choreographer for Britney Spears' Las Vegas Residency “Domination”, a full circle moment following Nika's portrayal of the megastar during the 2011 VMA Vanguard Britney Spears Tribute Performance. Notably, not only has Nika choreographed for pop culture, music, and dance legend Paula Abdul, but she has been her creative right-hand-woman for six years. Her work on Paula's “Forever Your Girl” Las Vegas Residency in 2019, and her outstanding performance at the Billboard Music Awards in 2019. Their collaborative power continues to flourish throughout current projects. Throughout it all, Nika deeply understands and intently spreads the value of wellness. Now a certified life coach, Nika recently and successfully launched “Shaped By Nika” - a professional-level dance intensive marked by an emphasis on how the mind, body, and spirit can work together towards one's dreams.

This is a clip from our latest Patreon bonus episode, if you'd like to hear our final thoughts on Plečnik in full, please consider subscribing at https://www.patreon.com/about_buildings — the show relies on listener support, and you'll get access to our full back catalogue of bonus episodes. In our final bonus episode on Jože Plečnik, we discussed a few more of his projects, including 'Many Houses under One Roof', a unique unbuilt proposal for mass housing in post-war Ljubljana which imagined a huge colonnaded structure under which houses could be built in heterogenous harmony. We also discussed a pair of pavilions built for a convent in the countryside near Bled in northern Slovenia. The pavilions represent Plečnik's unique interpretations of the 'Primitive Hut' as an architectural form. Lastly, we discussed Plečnik's own house in Ljubljana and reflected on his legacy as one of the most idiosyncratic and surprising architects of the 20th century. Edited by Matthew Lloyd Roberts. //The Wire//2300Z June 27, 2025////ROUTINE////BLUF: SCOTUS SIDES WITH TRUMP ON LOWER COURTS ISSUING BLANKET RULINGS. PROTESTS IN EUROPE CONTINUE.// -----BEGIN TEARLINE------International Events-Europe: Various demonstrations and protests continue as usual. In Poland, demonstrations were conducted today regarding the migrant crisis, with Poles expressing dissatisfaction with the deportation of migrants to their country.Yesterday a small protest was reported in Ljubljana, Slovenia, following the NATO summit this week. This summit largely did not discuss much of any importance, with the exception of again urging member states to pledge 5% of their defense budget to NATO's collective defense. AC: Demonstrations in eastern European nations often end up being a good barometer for gauging how the east/west dynamic is developing. This time, Slovenians protested against NATO and the United States for a variety of reasons, but mostly due to the recent activities in the Middle East.Middle East: Tensions in Gaza have increased following a report from Israeli media claiming that IDF soldiers were ordered to target civilians seeking food aid. In the report, interviewed IDF soldiers explained the long-standing practices regarding the targeting of civilians, such as the practice of shooting civilians "who appeared to pose no threat".AC: The Israeli Military Advocate General has also ordered an internal investigation into these targeting efforts, and several nations have issued statements of condemnation regarding this practice. These reports come after months of complaints from international aid groups being kinetically targeted throughout the region.-HomeFront-Washington D.C. - This morning the US Supreme Court issued a few rulings of note. SCOTUS ruled in favor of President Trump concerning his lawsuit to prevent activist judges from exceeding their jurisdictions to issue rulings more broad than the initial scope of the initial lawsuit. In effect, this means that President Trump's executive order to ban birthright citizenship for illegals and for those on temporary visas is in effect.Similarly, this morning the White House announced that they will be terminating the Temporary Protected Status (TPS) of roughly 500,000 Haitian nationals, continuing the efforts from a few months ago to halt/slow immigration from Haiti under humanitarian programs.-----END TEARLINE-----Analyst Comments: The SCOTUS did not address the merits of Trump's birthright citizenship Executive Order itself; this judgement only re-affirmed the long-standing policy of preventing judges from issuing judgements outside their jurisdiction. However, the follow-on effects of this judgement will be interesting to follow as this affects a few hot-button issues that is currently at the heart of American discourse (most notably immigration-related issues).Analyst: S2A1Research: https://publish.obsidian.md/s2underground//END REPORT//
