We check back in with Scott to see what it's looking like in NY because it seems like things are more serious there than I thought (and it is!). We turn our attention to the NFL where the Falcons have released thier new get-ups, and they've also gone on to release the NFL All-Decade team. We don't go too in depth, but as much as we can share on a 30+ miunute segment. Finally we wrap up by talking about the new Netflix movie, "Extraction" and how it begs the question, "Is this the period of time that the independent studios begin to bridge the gap?". Sad to say we didn't want any mushu. Hope you enjoy this episode of the HIgher State podcast.

The Oscar noms dropped on January 13, so it's Robert and Jason's first chance to run through the rather disappointing lists of names on the show. After that, it's time to talk some new releases, specifically two movies that had generated low expectations before release, only for one to outperform considerably. The first is Robert Downey Jr.'s first post-Marvel role: a CGI-fueled family movie called DOLITTLE. The second is BAD BOYS FOR LIFE, a threequel to the Will Smith/Martin Lawrence buddy cop movies from the 90s and early 00s. Which one was a surprise success? Bad boys, bad boys, watcha' gonna' do? Well in the case of Will Smith + Martin Lawrence, they're gonna' make a third movie that practically no one was asking for. Was it fun? Hell yes. Was it crazy? Absolutely. Was it necessary? Not in any way. John + Josiah get a bit goofy and had a ball talking about this film that felt like a worse Hobbs + Shaw, and SPOILERS, SERIOUSLY THERE ARE SPOILERS IN THE SHOW NOTES, but far better Gemini Man (You understand what we mean if you've seen it). Is this the last ride for our bad boys or will they continue to cause mayhem throughout Miami? You'll have to watch the film and listen to the podcast to find out!
