Avengers: Doomsday Trailer Release Date & Cryptic Photo, DCU Batman Casting Wars, AI Actress INSANE Controversy — Greg Alba & Coy Jandreau go LIVE to break down the latest Marvel & DC news! The Russo Brothers just shared a mysterious “Look Hard…” photo from the Avengers: Doomsday (2026) set, teasing fans with hidden details while a major leak from SFX artist Gi Ponci revealed new suits for the X-Men (Cyclops, Wolverine, Storm, Rogue, Gambit), Fantastic Four (Reed Richards, Sue Storm, Johnny Storm, Ben Grimm), Namor, Thor, Silver Surfer, and even Robert Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom. On top of that, reports say the Avengers: Doomsday trailer is coming this December, and Channing Tatum is hyping it up as the wildest Marvel movie yet — bigger than Blade's Deadpool & Wolverine cameo! Plus, Ryan Reynolds is reportedly developing his own mutants team-up movie for the MCU's next saga. Meanwhile in the DCU, everyone wants to be Batman — but who has actually gone on record? We'll run down the names fans are buzzing about, while James Gunn teased two unannounced movie scripts, one mystery TV project, and updates on Supergirl. In Marvel TV, Daredevil: Born Again writer Jesse Wigutow revealed a scrapped “bottle episode” pairing Punisher & Echo — would that have worked? Over on Max, Peacemaker Season 2 keeps building toward Superman: Man of Tomorrow and Nicholas Hoult's Lex Luthor, while fans still debate the AI actress Tilly Norwood controversy. And for other wild news: Universal is developing The Mummy 4 with hopes for Brendan Fraser's return (but will audiences embrace it or reject another “old man sequel”?), and Lionsgate is scripting a Samurai Western spin-off in the John Wick Universe. Should Wick expand or bow out gracefully? We're covering it all tonight. Join the Reject Nation as we react, speculate, and debate across the MCU, DCU, and beyond — from Avengers: Doomsday and Spider-Man: Brand New Day to Gunn's DC plans, The Mummy 4, John Wick, and the future of comic book movies! US Marshals the sequel to "The Fugitive" with Harrison Ford, if you didn't know. Starring Tommy Lee Jones, Wesley Snipes, Robert Downey Jr, Joe Pantoliano, and Daniel Roebuck. Throwbacktheaterpodcast@gmail.com
The underworld is crowded with thieves, but Parker has always stood apart. Created by Donald Westlake in the early 1960s, the character has been portrayed on screen by actors including Lee Marvin, Mel Gibson, and Jason Statham. He's a blunt-force professional who isn't Bond, isn't Batman, but something rougher, hungrier, and coded by his own ruthless blue-collar sense of order. With "Play Dirty," filmmaker Shane Black takes his own crack at Parker, bringing the character to Prime Video on October 1 and casting Mark Wahlberg in the role. The film follows Parker, a ruthless thief, and his expert crew who stumble onto the heist of a lifetime that pits them against the New York mob. The film also stars LaKeith Stanfield, Rosa Salazar, Keegan-Michael Key, Nat Wolff, and more. This version doesn't come with gadgets or acrobatics. Black describes a Parker who thinks fast, hits harder, and feels closer to the blue-collar world than to the spy fantasy. It's the kind of material that lets him indulge his taste for pulp grit, sly humor, and the holiday backdrop he's made famous. But it also opens the door to some bigger questions: what draws audiences to men this uncompromising? How do you make crime fun without sanding off the edges? And what happens when you cast Wahlberg instead of Robert Downey Jr.?READ MORE: ‘All Of You': Brett Goldstein On Love, The Science of Soulmates, ‘Shrinking' Surprises, & ‘Ted Lasso' [The Discourse Podcast]Writer/Director Shane Black joins The Discourse to talk about the journey of bringing his Parker film to the screen, which started all the way back during the making of Black's first film, “Kiss Kiss Bang Bang” in 2005. When asked what itch hadn't been scratched by earlier adaptations, Black pointed to Parker's uniqueness. “Each one represents the era in which it was produced. 'Point Blank' with Lee Marvin is a very specific film for that time period. And each actor who's played Parker from there on, like Robert Duvall, Jason Statham, and Mel Gibson in "Payback." There has been a history of incarnations of this powerful, relentless character. But he's not James Bond, which is why I liked him. He's sort of blue collar. It's almost like an American entrepreneur's story. But he happens to be a really awful, bad person and a criminal anti-hero.”

Welcome to Multiverse News, Your source for Information about all your favorite fictional universesImages and video featuring promotional artwork, including a laser light show, of Marvel's Doctor Doom surfaced last week during Walt Disney Studios' Marketing Expo in Shanghai. While many fans and outlets of varying reputation and credibility were quick to assume and label the imagery as officially tied to Avengers: Doomsday and our first look of Robert Downey Jr in the role, there is nothing in the aforementioned marketing materials that brands the content as Marvel Studios'. Still, the concept art and accompanying light show are exciting as potential teases of what this highly anticipated version of the villain may look and feel like when he finally hits the big screen next December. In a completely unexpected turn of events during a recent appearance on The Howard Stern Show, James Gunn dished out more details surrounding his recently announced sequel to Superman, titled Man of Tomorrow, including an intended April 2026 slate to begin filming. The filmmaker shared, “It is a story about Lex Luthor and Superman having to work together to a certain degree against a much, much bigger threat,” he said. “And it's more complicated than that. It's as much a Lex movie as it is a Superman movie. I relate to the character of Lex, sadly.” On the other end of the DCU, during a red carpet appearance at the Emmys, Matt Reeves shared star Robert Pattinson's reaction to reading the long awaited script, saying “He's Batman, and if he doesn't like it, not good. I was super excited. I thought that he really would [like it] because the things that it does for his character, for Batman and for Bruce, have never been done before in this way. I had a feeling that he would respond in this way, but the fact that he did was incredibly encouraging.” It was a night of celebration for newcomer series at Sunday's 77th Primetime Emmy Awards, as HBO Max's rookie series The Pitt dominated the drama categories while Apple TV+'s The Studio swept comedy honors. Netflix's limited series Adolescence led the field with six trophies, including wins for writer-producer-star Stephen Graham, and HBO/HBO Max topped all networks with nine total Emmys, followed by Apple TV+ with seven. Notable firsts included Tramell Tillman becoming the first Black man to win Supporting Actor in a Drama for Severance, Seth Rogen claiming his first Emmy ever for The Studio, and The Penguin's Cristin Milioti bringing home the only award for the series for her portrayal of Sofia Falcone. The freshly merged Paramount/Skydance is exploring a potential bid to acquire all of Warner Brothers Discovery, according to the Wall Street Journal.Universal and Illumination have officially titled the Super Mario Bros. Movie sequel The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, taking its name from Nintendo's 2007 Wii game and setting an April 3, 2026 release date. The entire voice cast including Chris Pratt, Anya Taylor-Joy, Charlie Day, and Jack Black will return for the follow-up to the record-breaking original that earned $1.36 billion worldwide.Amazon MGM/s Highlander reboot, which was set to go into principal photography this month, will now be pushed into 2026 after Henry Cavill sustained an injury during pre-production.A24 has reportedly won the bidding war for the Texas Chainsaw Massacre film and TV rights, beating out competitors including Jordan Peele and Taylor Sheridan. The horror studio plans to first develop a series from Strange Darling director JT Mollner, producer Roy Lee, and Glen Powell, though Powell will not star in the project.Oscar nominated actress Mary McDonnell has joined the cast of Marvel's upcoming Vision series, the Hollywood Reporter has learned. At this time, her role has not been disclosed.
Obviously Robert Downey Jr's a great actor, but WHY cast the face of Tony Stark as Doctor Doom? Over a year after Robert Downey Jr was announced as Doctor Doom in Avengers Doomsday, and even after he somewhat appeared in Fantastic Four First Steps, we're still no where closer to understanding what “New Mask Same Task” means. In this episode of the Sneak Peek, Erik Voss and Zach Huddleston explains why the Russo Brothers and Marvel Studios owe fans more of an explanation behind this casting, and, since Marvel is in a different place now than it was in 2018, they cannot rely on the same restrained marketing approach to build hype for a movie that needs to make 1 billion dollars to break even. This week things get messy fast! We kick off with Charlie Hunnam stepping into the twisted role of Ed Hein in the new season of Monster before diving into the Hollywood cage match nobody asked for: Robert Downey Jr. vs. Ryan Reynolds — actual beef or just rich-people improv?Meanwhile, Este has his mind blown after finally realizing Alien, Predator, and Blade Runner all exist in the same universe (don't worry, we've scheduled his intervention). The guys also weigh in on the Rebel Alliance casually calling stormtroopers “white people”, the internet melting down over whispers of a Peacemaker orgy scene (?!?), and the sad, running joke that Doomsday is STILL not finished — years later, like your friend who keeps promising they're “almost done” with their screenplay. It's unfiltered, it's unhinged, and it's very Comix.
"MY TURN." The next Avengers film is about a year out. We have over thirty films to sift through. Let's get started. Back in the day, it was inconceivable to make a franchise connecting a bunch of different solo characters on the big screen the way they were in comics. Back in the day, Tony Stark and Robert Downey Jr. were seen as box office bombs waiting to happen. Little did we all know this was the movie that launched the most profitable film franchise of all time. Come join Brian and Alec to look back at how it all started as they being their MCUathon with the genesis -- IRON MAN!

Sam and Beth discuss an intriguing little film about the artistic awakening of the groundbreaking photographer Diane Arbus. Imagine it is the late 1950s, and you are being suffocated by crinoline and your girdle. There is an insatiable curiosity within you to go to places you have never been, and to bear witness to people and lifestyles outside of the homogenized social norms of the time. Suddenly a mysterious stranger appears, who is both spirit guide and seducer, holding a candle to your pathway of liberation. Nicole Kidman, Ty Burrell, and Robert Downey Jr. execute the machinations of this parlor film perfectly. Send us a textThe Fantastic Four has finally arrived in the MCU, but not in the way anyone expected. Rather than another tired origin story, we're dropped into Universe 828—a gorgeously realized retro-futuristic world where Marvel's First Family are already established heroes beloved by the public. What makes this film truly special is how it balances cosmic spectacle with intimate family drama. When we meet Reed, Sue, Johnny, and Ben, they're facing their greatest challenge yet: impending parenthood. Sue Storm is pregnant, and Reed's anxiety about what their altered genetics might mean for their child drives much of the emotional narrative. Pedro Pascal brings a fascinating vulnerability to Reed Richards—a brilliant mind constantly plagued by feelings of inadequacy, always believing he should be able to do more.Vanessa Kirby delivers what might be the definitive Sue Storm performance, finally showcasing the character's immense power that comic readers have known about for decades. The climactic sequence where she confronts Galactus while literally in labor is both visually stunning and emotionally resonant—a mother's fierce protection taken to cosmic levels. Meanwhile, Joseph Quinn and Ebon Moss-Bachrach bring fresh energy to Johnny Storm and Ben Grimm respectively, with their relationship capturing that perfect balance of friendly ribbing and genuine brotherhood. The film's visual aesthetic deserves special mention—Universe 828 feels like tomorrow as imagined in the 1960s, with flying cars, impossible architecture, and a sense of optimism that's been missing from recent superhero fare. This distinct setting, coupled with the post-credits tease of Robert Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom appearing in Franklin Richards' nursery, suggests an exciting direction for the future of the MCU.Whether you're a longtime Fantastic Four fan or completely new to these characters, this film offers something genuinely fresh in the superhero landscape. It reminds us why these characters have endured for over sixty years—because at their heart, they're not just superheroes, they're family. And that's fantastic.Twitter handles:Project Geekology: https://twitter.com/pgeekologyAnthony's Twitter: https://twitter.com/odysseyswowDakota's Twitter: https://twitter.com/geekritique_dakInstagram:https://instagram.com/projectgeekology?igshid=1v0sits7ipq9yYouTube:https://www.youtube.com/@projectgeekologyGeekritique (Dakota):https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCBwciIqOoHwIx_uXtYTSEbANew Video: The Divine Structure Hidden in Superman's Timeline: https://youtu.be/iHgcBcCSJgM?si=9xmcl76NZR3Sdx3wSupport the show
