Wrap Up on the Book Go Pro in Your Network Marketing Business Notes From Today’s Show: Anything worthwhile takes time, and even if you aren’t a fast starter in your business, understand the longevity side of it. Buy a McDonald’s Franchise and they tell you, after you’ve spent a million bucks, that it’s going to be at least 2-5 years before you will be in profit. There is a timeline for success in Direct Sales and network marketing, and we all come in with a difference set of skills. You want to work with your sponsor to create that 30 day success story, and create belief for yourself that you can share with others. We have a business of longevity and everyone is going to have their own way and time frame of getting signed up, and getting into action. Take massive action, for sure! Know the rule of 1/3s. 1/3 are getting started, 1/3 are doing something, 1/3 are leaving. Stay out of management mode and keep building your own business! We do a few simple steps over and over again. We make a plan; we DO that plan and take action on it; we review the plan after 90 days and make some adjustments and write a new plan. Then, we get to work on that plan! It is SO worth the journey, I do promise you that. I did an interview a number of years back where I was asked what the best part of having accomplished my goals was. It’s not the money, although that is great. IT’s not the recognition of being the top income earner in a direct sales company - although that was great, too. It is the knowledge that I had done it, become one of the 1/2 of 1% of all people in Network Marketing. The person you become along the journey is priceless. It’s not in the sign up process itself. The task is not completed when they join, it’s when they get started! Don’t be afraid to reach out and make contact. Don’t worry about buyer’s remorse. Create a 30 day success story. Help them earn their investment back. Help them have success, sell some products, develop a customer base and have a story to share when people ask - Well, how’s the business going for you? They can always reply - Well, let me tell you about my first 30 days… Schedule a time to go through a Game Plan Interview. What’s in the Game Plan Interview? Congratulating them on their decision. Setting their expectations right - some will, some won’t, oh well. Go through your own list of questions to find out their goals, their reason why, their commitment, the calendar, what’s their plan to get first customers and distributors? Make sure they know how to navigate their back office, as well as place an order, sign up a customer and sign up a new team partner. Explain available tools and how to use them. Skill #7 - Promote events The best way to promote events is to be attending events yourself. Get them signed up for your company convention. Find out any local events going on, too. Now, let’s get to skills 4 and 5 #4 - Follow Up - this is one area where so many in Direct Sales do drop the ball. We tend to want to make the argument - they have my information, they have seen the business, if they are interested, they will call me! Not true. You will be amazed at how your business will grow if you just ASK people to join you! So follow up typically consists of seeing what questions or objections they have; answering these and then asking them if they are ready to get started. Understand the power in follow up and that sales statistics show that an average of 4-6 exposures it what it takes to get someone to the decision point. That’s okay. Do your job, do your best and your business will consistently be growing as people come into the funnel, and fall out through the funnel and onto your team. Understand how to answer the top Objections and see my overview at StreetSmartScripts.com for more #5 - Help Your Prospect Get Signed Up as a Customer or Team Partner What you don’t want to do, if at all possible is just give them the link and say “Go for it!” Instead, get online with them, even if over the phone. Make them feel values, special and in good hands! Ask them to join and be prepared for them to say YES, and to get them signed up properly. Your Listening to the Street Smart Wealth Podcast, show 112 Have you ever been in the grocery store, or at a party, and you strike up a conversation with someone who you just resonate with? You just really feel that they have what it takes to succeed in network marketing. And, then you struggle with how to get the conversation started and then how to ask for their contact information…. So, lLet’s talk about those cold market conversations - how to get them started and get their numbers for your Network Marketing business… And, a brief intro into texting people as a first contact. JackieUlmer.com/coach How to Effectively Prospect in the Cold Market Real World for Your Network Marketing Business and Get Their Contact Information. You’ll find that many network marketing trainers and companies only teach warm market list making and that leaves a few people out in the COLD. Yes, only having cold market to talk to. Why? Maybe you’ve burned your warm market. Maybe you are young and your influential circle is challenging. And, no matter what, you are going to run into people you don’t know who might be great so why not learn proper techniques on how to impact others and branch out a little. You never know who is looking or how you will cross paths with them. Here’s the breakdown on how to have these good conversations. First, be prepared, Always carry a small notepad or blank business cards or blank paper and a pen. This is critical. Then, let’s have some scripting down pat! You are at the store or a restaurant; the check out gal or server is amazing - friendly You ask questions - how long have you worked here… Oh, you must really like it….often they will grimace or say - not so much. A great way to open the conversation is - Well, would you be open to a side project to earn some more income if it didn’t interfere with what you are already doing? When they say yes, you want to be dead on ready - Okay, well I’m in a hurry and can’t get into the details here, plus you are working, so how about this - write down your name, email and phone number and I will follow up with you when it’s a better time. Hand them the paper and ask - when is a good time? If they start asking for details, you cut it short and say - I’ll be sharing a short online video with you when we speak and it’s going to give you all of the details about the company I work with, how we get paid and what you would be doing. Would you be open to watching that short video? IF they don’t want to give their phone number, that’s ok. An email is better than nothing. And, ask if they are on Facebook too. Connecting through social media is awesome. Now, another step is to take out your phone and say, what’s your # - I’ll shoot you a quick text to connect and then I can text you some details. Now you’ve removed the awkwardness of a live call, which is what scares a lot of people. So, let’s talk a little about texting to your warm market contact list as well. Here is a little about what we know - Emails often don’t get opened Phone calls often don’t get returned Direct mail works, but takes time and costs money Text messages - now let’s think about that - text messages almost ALWAYS get read, right? Think about your own habits there. Would you like to set more appointments? Are you having some fear with the thought of contacting your own warm market? Are you willing to do this, if you could just get the ball rolling? So, what if you sent a short text to a few people a day who are i your mobile phone and asked - hey, would love to get together. Do you have some time in the next week? They will almost always answer you. Set the time, confirm it and then SHARE with them that you have a project you want to share with them, as well as get caught up. Set the appointment and then let them know you have a project you want to share because you don’t want this to be a bait and switch like the old days. If they ask a lot of questions, ease their mind by saying - it’s super simple, won’t take a lot of time. I’m working on something, would love your opinion and any referrals you might think of who might want to join the project. Don’t avoid questions, though - Is it MLM? Questions - What if they live outside of local market and you can’t meet one on one? Use the tools you have - skype or google hangouts is a great way to connect and show them exactly what you would face to face. This is amazing - you can have live meetings very easily! What if you get low results? Take a look at what you are saying? Are you over sharing or just working to schedule appointment? Set the appointment and then let them know you have a project you want to share because you don’t want this to be a bait and switch like the old days. Have you been pushy in the past with your contacts and your opportunity? This could be why they are moving away. You can fix this, but it takes time and working to rebuild that relationship. Skip the meeting for the first time you meet with them. Just have coffee, ask about them. Be a true authentic friend. Give it a try and just SEE what happens! ACTION STEPS Set a goal for number of new contacts you want to make weekly. Get prepared with a notepad or some way to collect details. Prepare what you are going to say so it slides off your tongue very easily. Set a 90 day challenge for yourself to do this. Coach your team to do the same. iTunes reviews shout out! I’m going to share both, and how you can benefit and stay profitable. And, some tips for handling family and friends around the topic of “Your Network Marketing Business!” Thanks for joining me on the show today and I would love to know what brought you here? How did you find this show? Send me a tweet - @jackieulmer and ask any questions you might have for the show. A few exciting things to share. I am getting my official coaching certification starting in January, so I’ll be sharing a lot of the tips I am learning. I have coached for years, but want to sharpen my skills and re-open my coaching program. My passion is really around helping others have the same type of success that made such a difference in my life and still does today. Freedom is TRULY the name of the game. JackieUlmer.com/coach MLM the Holidays and YOU! Those who are serious about their network marketing business keep working and those who are looking DON’T stop looking because of the holidays. You can really set a pace for an explosive start of the year by continuing to work steadily. Don’t stop working - you don’t quit anything else - marriage, kids, job, church, fitness and so on Don’t bring up your network marketing business at holiday events, parties and family gatherings except in a general sense. And, if people ask you, be positive and let them know now is not a good time, when can you connect in the next few days? Be a pro! DO use these events to meet a lot of people and begin conversations. Get contact info and learn as much as you can about them. Look for buying signs and signals but hold back, don’t pounce. Keep contacting people and expect that they may say they are too busy, and to check back in January. PERFECT! This is great because it will fill in your january calendar. Just keep track and follow up! Remember, it’s just small blocks of time that make it happen. Schedule 2 blocks of 15 minutes each in your calendar each day for contacting new people. Don’t overuse your products as gifts for family and friends. This can be a real turn off. If you’ve never done this before, pick and choose, and be careful. Have a team social holiday party. Have a customer appreciation party, even a lunch to make it fast and easy. And, schedule one on ones for those who can’t make it to showcase new products and give some samples. Hold a holiday open house for those in party plan or with products that fit. Carry samples with you and never give one out without getting their contact info. If you send a card with photos and updates, send ONE that has you at an event. Don’t mention it, just include it to create curiosity. If you have children and are in the Santa line strike up conversations. Connect and get contact information but don’t dump on people right there. Drop hints, create interest and follow up. Do some follow up now with past contacts. Schedule a phone or face-to-face appointment to review your program or products. How might your products fill a need for your contacts or referrals during the holiday season? Brainstorm some ideas before the meeting. Begin reviewing your past year’s goals and accomplishments. Where can you improve? In what ways can you push yourself on to bigger and better next year? Have your next year’s business plan concrete before January 1! Keep your focus, remember CANI (constant and never ending improvement) and enjoy the season, knowing that you are doing and being the best you can be! Set big expectations and make them happen. Online tips - Keep blogging Use your amazon links now to promote on social media. But, be cool, don’t just advertise. Don’t use the year in videos, so that they stay evergreen. Share photos of your team parties and customer parties on social media. Create interest. This is a good time to work on the techie side of your blog. Spend time planning for next year; develop an editorial calendar and with some planning, your online activities will soar! ACTION STEPS Schedule your team party. Schedule your customer party. Schedule your calendar with 15 minute blocks of time. Find events going on where you can meet people. Have a plan for meet, greet, get to know and follow up later. iTunes reviews shout out! Learn more at JackieUlmer.com/coach Putting the Fun in Your Network Marketing Business Enjoy the journey in Network Marketing - why I always thought this was such a dumb thing to say, until I “Got it!” First, make a decision to HAVE FUN! People love to be around FUN because most have so little of it in their careers. Focus on abundance and not scarcity. This can be a challenge, and it is SO important because you can’t really move forward when you are focused on what you do not have. Fear, self doubt, jealousy and these tough emotions are a challenge. We want to acknowledge them, and at the same time, ask them to move right along. Make a list of everything you might have, do and be once you hit your goals. Create a dream book or vision board. Set aside three hours to yourself, put on great music, write candles, maybe even pour a glass of bubbly and just dream big! Get out of the feeling of lack, and this starts by starting with a gratitude exercise. Do you have what you need RIGHT NOW? Roof over your head, car to drive, food in the house, warmth or cold, depending on the season, a bed to sleep in, someone who loves you, even if just your dog? We live in the RIGHT now, so focus on finding the joy in each minute and then plan how you can take action each day to create more of what you want. Develop some success language, if you are fearful, to let people know you have a business you are having fun with and wonder if you can practice on them. Ask for feedback, and be open to it. Ask for their input. What would they do differently? How might you improve? Have fun with your team! Plan team calls, and just share and engage. Plan local events for those in the area - pizza night, or movie night and just stuff to be social and have fun. Business will come up, naturally. Plan special events for your team at your company convention. Promote it weekly for at least 90 days leading up to the event. Have people pre-register so THEY are more likely to attend. Remember your team on special occasions - birthday’s anniversaries and anniversaries on your team. Make it a goal to reach out to one person to make them feel special each day. You’ve heard it before but a daily gratitude journal can really take you places! ACTION STEPS Read the success stories of others and determine - what did they do that I am not doing? When is your next company event? Get registered and get it on your calendar. Ask those on your team to JOIN you and share some ideas of what you’ll do together there. Have a small gathering for your local team - just for fun - not business oriented. Business will naturally come up!
