Her popular YouTube channel, which focuses on air fryer recipes, has garnered over 752,000 subscribers and has been a key driver of her success. Cathy has sold more than 50,000 cookbooks, achieved over $70,000 in monthly sales, and generates significant revenue from both digital and physical product sales. Throughout the discussion, she highlights the importance of staying authentic, continuously learning, and balancing the demands of family life with entrepreneurship. Looking ahead, Cathy plans to sell her product line and retire, marking the next chapter of her remarkable journey. Why would you wait any longer to start living the lifestyle you signed up for? Balance your health, wealth, relationships and business growth. And focus your time and energy and make the most of this year. Let's get into it by clicking here. Troy delves into our guest's startup journey, their perception of success, industry reconsideration, and the pivotal stress point during business expansion. They discuss the joys of small business growth, vital entrepreneurial habits, and strategies for team building, encompassing wins, blunders, and invaluable advice. And a snapshot of the final five Grow A Small Business Questions: What do you think is the hardest thing in growing a small business? According to Cathy Yoder, the hardest thing in growing a small business is "the grind of working hard without seeing immediate returns." She emphasized the challenge of staying committed during the early phases when results are slow, especially in a culture that expects instant success. Her advice is to trust your gut, keep at it, and be okay with delayed rewards. What's your favorite business book that has helped you the most? Cathy Yoder's favorite business book that helped her the most is Essentialism by Greg McKeown. She shared that it taught her to cut out the fluff, focus on what truly matters, and work more efficiently, especially after experiencing overwhelm from trying to do everything in her earlier business partnerships. Are there any great podcasts or online learning resources you'd recommend to help grow a small business? Cathy Yoder recommends several great podcasts and online learning resources to help grow a small business, including the Ed Mylett Podcast and Brendon Burchard for motivation and performance, and Jody Moore's “Better Than Happy” podcast and life coaching membership for mindset and personal development. She also emphasizes the value of joining mastermind groups and hiring business coaches early on, even if it's a small investment, as they helped her build systems and accountability that supported her business growth. What tool or resource would you recommend to grow a small business? Cathy Yoder recommends YouTube as a powerful tool to grow a small business. She highlights that, while it's a long game and not an instant win, it's a fantastic way to build trust, generate leads, and get paid while doing it. By being authentic and consistently creating content, she was able to grow a loyal audience and convert that engagement into substantial revenue through product sales and memberships. What advice would you give yourself on day one of starting out in business? Cathy Yoder's advice to herself on day one of starting out in business would be: “Trust the process. Keep going.” She emphasizes the importance of perseverance, especially during the early stages when progress feels slow, and believes that staying consistent and trusting your instincts is key to long-term success. With tax burdens now exceeding 50% in key regions like France, the Netherlands, Germany, and the UK, operators are feeling the squeeze more than ever. Germany's severe taxation and game restrictions have pushed channelisation to the black market beyond 55%, prompting many to write off the country as a viable market altogether. Alongside the tax pressure, operators must now contend with fragmented advertising bans and tightening regulations across Europe, making 2025 a year of strategic cost-saving, operational pivoting, and regulatory navigation.Despite these challenges, the future holds promise. Optimism surrounds Finland's upcoming regulated market launch in 2027, with stakeholders preparing early to avoid the missteps seen in markets like the Netherlands. Italy shows renewed energy too, albeit now catering mostly to top-tier operators due to its £7 million licensing cost. The rise of AI remains another pivotal opportunity—and risk—with summit discussions exploring its potential to transform customer service, content creation, and competitive dynamics across the industry.

Patagonia isn't just scaling mountains. They're scaling through affiliate strategy.  This episode's guest, Cricket Treanor, went from the sales floor to HQ's affiliate marketing program. At Patagonia, their mission is centered on the environment, and their clientele is adventurous. So, when it comes to partnerships, they're thinking outside the box: cash back with Rakuten, listicles of the “best jackets”, and speaking out about social issues, to name a few. What should you do as a brand when you don't lean heavily into loyalty and deals?  And, Cricket debunks some misconceptions about the affiliate space. It's more than just loyalty; it's really brand awareness. Affiliates aren't taking sales away from other channels. Where do they fit into the marketing funnel?  Plus, Patagonia is more than just selling products, they're aiming to bring environmental awareness and sustainability efforts to their audience. How does the buy-back program contribute to KPIs? In a world of overconsumption, how do you get customers excited about new products when overconsumption contradicts the brand mission? If you're a marketer who wants to learn more about how partnerships, affiliate strategy, and digital marketing all play a role in scaling, this is the episode for you.   Let's face it—consumers don't trust ads, but they do trust their favorite creator, that go-to review site, or a friend's recommendation. That's where impact.com comes in. As the leading partnership management platform, impact.com helps brands turn creators, affiliates, and even loyal customers into powerful growth channels. We examine the tension between creative expression and commercial necessity in the digital age. We explore how the pursuit of expensive camera gear and equipment can become a substitute for actual creative work, and discuss the corrupting influence of affiliate marketing and sponsorships on genuine artistic curation. The conversation moves toward the concept of "escape velocity" - finding ways to separate commercial considerations from the creative process through patronage models, financial independence, or simply refocusing on experience over acquisition. We reflect on how social media and internet culture have shifted focus from seeking meaningful experiences to collecting objects, and consider whether it's possible to maintain authentic creative practice while still earning a living from content creation. We discuss the appeal of older, non-commercial equipment and the challenge of building genuine audience relationships in an increasingly commercialized creative landscape. -Ai If you enjoyed this episode, please consider giving us a rating and/or a review. Virtual events are so much more than just another "networking" opportunity—they're a dynamic growth strategy. On this episode, you'll hear why they offer results no other channel can match.   THE COMPOUND POWER OF VIRTUAL EVENTS If you want leverage, you need to get in front of more people—faster. That's why I'm such a huge advocate of virtual events. When you speak at a summit or online masterminds, you aren't just building rapport with one person at a time. You're leveraging the audience of a host who's vouching for your expertise and putting you directly in front of people already interested in your topic. And when you host your own virtual summit, you don't just add 25 or 50 leads. You're suddenly adding hundreds or even thousands of the right people to your email list, letting you scale your business much more quickly.   AVOIDING COMMON VIRTUAL EVENT MISTAKES Steve Eriksen and I dig deep into what separates successful summits from virtual event disasters. We reveal why keeping things simple—for both your offers and your event organization—is key if you want real results. Steve shares powerful examples of mistakes to avoid, like confusing multi-tiered VIP offers that leave attendees unsure and uncommitted. Instead, you'll learn why clarity and a focused value proposition always win, and how offering a single irresistible option can drive thousands in summit revenue.   FIVE KEY ELEMENTS TO BE SUMMIT-READY You might be wondering: What do you really need to show up and win at a virtual event? Steve Eriksen is the Founder of EventRaptor - the BEST solution for making Virtual Event Management easy! In his previous role as the Chief Technology Officer for Mary Morrissey, a life coach certification organization with an 8-figure revenue, he was responsible for all the tech that went into their events with thousands of attendees. Steve now helps entrepreneurs with their event tech with EventRaptor. Steve breaks down the five-step system every podcasting entrepreneur should have in place. These include a strong lead magnet, a signature talk that plants your expertise in people's minds, a reliable follow-up sequence, an irresistible offer, and a simple sales conversion system. Whether you're hosting or guest-speaking, having this foundation will not only grow your email list but also turn new listeners into long-term clients.   BUILDING RELATIONSHIPS THAT LAST Podcasting and virtual events are about more than downloads and email addresses. They're about building meaningful relationships with your audience and fellow experts. Throughout this episode, I share how consistently showing up (even as a last-minute speaker) builds goodwill in the virtual event space, leading to more invitations, stronger JV partnerships, and more sales. If you're ready to establish trust, deepen engagement, and finally build a platform that delivers impact, this episode will give you the exact blueprint to make that happen. You can command attention with your content, and actually attract clients instead of endlessly chasing them down. You don't have to struggle to find listeners if you set up your content for engagement, connection, and growth from the start. RESOURCES MENTIONED: Podcast Talent Coach: www.PodcastTalentCoach.com The Big Party Show: https://hurrdatmedia.com/hurrdat-one/shows/the-big-party-show/ LEAN INTO YOUR PERSONALITY EARLY The first think I would do differently: lean into personality sooner rather than later. For years, I tried copying other radio personalities, and it just didn't work. Your authenticity is magnetic. Listeners fall in love with who you are—not just what you say. That genuine connection builds trust and keeps people coming back. When I finally started just being myself, everything changed. That's when my shows started reaching the top of the ratings, and I was able to help others do the same. The secret isn't in the content; it's in the storyteller. Share your stories, your quirks, and your unique perspective. Because you are what makes you worth listening to. BUILD RELATIONSHIPS WITH JOINT VENTURE PARTNERS The next thing I'd do differently is find joint venture partners much sooner. JV partners will promote you to their audiences, helping you explode your email list, get in front of ideal clients, and grow your business faster than you ever could alone. Not all JV partners are equal, though. So, focus on finding the ones who are active promoters and are aligned with your values. By plugging into the right partnerships, I took my email list from 500 to over 5,000 in just a year. If you want explosive growth, don't go it alone—collaborate! Your network is a growth multiplier, not just a way to get your name out there. HIRE A COACH TO SHORTCUT YOUR SUCCESS The third thing I'd do differently? Get a coach early. I know there's hesitation. "Will it be worth it? Will I actually implement?" But, having the right mentor is a game-changer. I waited six years before hiring my first coach, and progress after that skyrocketed. Different coaches have helped me with sales, offers, content, and scaling systems. A mentor helps you not just gather information, but actually implement it, saving you years of trial and error. Remember: information alone doesn't create transformation. You've got to take action—and a great coach will help you do just that. TURN INFORMATION INTO ACTION If you want to stand out and attract both fans and clients, it's all about taking action. Don't just collect PDFs, lead magnets, and courses. Decide what's going to move the needle and make it happen. Most content creators never act on what they learn. Be the exception. Whether it's refining your origin story to create rapport, building JV relationships, or working with a mentor, execution is what will separate you from everyone else. Attracting clients and building powerful relationships with your audience starts the minute you put yourself into your podcast and follow these proven strategies. Want to talk more about how to implement this in your show? Reach out to me. You can email me at Coach at PodcastTalentCoach.com. I can help you develop your unique brand, build authority, and create content that actually grows your business. If you're ready to take action, let's chat—and I'll help you become someone worth listening to and learning from! Find more resources and coaching information at www.PodcastTalentCoach.com.

#867 Goals we work hard toward can turn out to be all wrong for us the moment we achieve them. In fact, it's easy to fall into this trap if we don't uncover our own definition of success and chase someone else's instead. So how do we begin again if we find ourselves on a path we don't like? In this episode, I'm joined by the author of When I Start My Business, I'll Be Happy, Sam Vander Wielen. The moment today's guest landed the attorney job of her dreams, she knew corporate life wouldn't be right for her. Not one to give up, she leaned into the pull of entrepreneurship and pivoted to create a multimillion-dollar online business around her expertise. Sam is a master storyteller with an impressive ability to turn everyday moments into engaging lessons for her audience. #866 To grow, we might have to stop relying on some of our strengths. This may sound counterintuitive, but sometimes the skills we've mastered become crutches that mask areas we're struggling in. So how do we break free from our usual routines? Join me today because I want to tell you about using voluntary force functions to level up. I'm in the same boat as you. I've grown as a public speaker, but some of the skills I've developed are now holding me back. You see, my presentations have always relied on amazing slides. This is one of my superpowers, but it's also something I lean on instead of focusing on storytelling and audience engagement. Tune in today to hear how I plan to change this by not preparing any slides for my next presentation! This is a voluntary force function, just like the many others I've used to improve throughout my journey. Don't miss out on this mindset hack!
