11Point7: The College Baseball Podcast

We are back for our 7th season of covering college baseball!  This is just a fun intro episode where we catch up after the ABCA Convention.  Then we talk about our schedule and plan for the next 3.5 weeks before the season starts.  Lastly, Jack breaks some news about a new job opportunity and we talk about the future of 11Point7. 

We spend the first part of the episode talking about the hiring of our 1st ever podcast guest, Mike Earley, as the Head Coach of the Texas A&M Aggies. We talk about how he is going to continue the culture and momentum they have built and how happy the players are that he was hired.  Then we briefly talk about the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team and what they are doing and how it works.  Lastly we go over the best moments from the 2024 season. 

The first 30 minutes of the podcast consists of recapping the Texas hiring of Jim Schlossnagle and we give our thoughts and input on the situation from both the Aggies side and the Longhorns side. Key word.... JOB SECURITY The next hour is spent on candidates for the A&M job. Is it going to be one of the 5 names that D1 Baseball listed (OConnor, Heefner, Sully, Bakich, Link), or is it going to be the mystery name that is floating around? Or could it be one of the assistant coaches that left for UT?? Ben and Jack give 10 names that would be awesome to see at A&M for entertainment purposes that also make some sense. Just a fun segment.

We want to thank every one of our fans, listeners, and YouTube subscribers. We started at 0 subscribers in January, and now have over 1,100. Truly incredible. Thank you. We will have a full-season recap out later this week! This is more of a Q/A with the man, myth, legend, Jack DeLongchamps He talks about his experience in Omaha, his connections with every team, him celebrating last night with Tennessee, and tells some great stories about players and coaches he got to meet. We talk about the future of college baseball and how we are happy with the sport right now. Ben asks Jack questions about his trip and what's up next for him.

The boys are all back and chop it up the first few minutes. Next they preview the Tennessee Volunteers, then the Texas A&M Aggies Theres a lot of Omaha talk, stories from Jack with Flops on the ground, and finally each person makes their pick to win the CWS. Lastly Ben and Dimitri ask Jack about his trip and cool people he's got to meet and stories that have happened.

Jack is in his 22ft RV named "Teal Ninja" on his 25 hour drive to Omaha, Nebraska to have flops on the ground at the CWS. A little disorganized show as we preview the 1st round matchups of the CWS and give who we think will be the Champion and Runner Up.

Super Regional Weekend was a blast! We break down all 8 Super Regionals and give our thoughts and insight on both the winning teams and losing teams of each Super in this order: Florida vs Clemson UNC vs WVU Tennessee vs Evansville UVA vs KState FSU vs UConn Kentucky vs Oregon St A&M vs Oregon NC State vs Georgia

The show starts with us arguing about who has a better chance of a Cinderella run, Evansville Purple Aces or UConn Huskies. Then we go regional by regional and give our thoughts and observations. Later this week we will have our Super Regional Preview episode where we make our picks to win.

We each pick our 16 regional winners, and our 8 teams for Omaha Every regional we break down our thoughts on how each will go. We present sleeper teams and underseeded teams who could come out and win on Friday.  Lastly we pick our College World Series Winner and Runner Up. 

A live show where we react live to the Field of 64  We also get Chad Holbrook, Head Coach of Charleston, to voice his concerns with the Selection Committee's choice not to put them in the tournament We break down each regional throughout the livestream and take questions from the chat

They boys are live with a special guest, Ben's little brother Will, from the Candlewood Suites in Hoover Alabama. There was some liquid courage involved and some hot takes.  A lot of fun and one of the best podcasts we have ever done as a group. The show opens with Ben thinking that Indiana State has a secret RPI code cracker that builds their schedules exactly how it needs to be for them to host. Then Jack joins in and we talk about bubble host teams and how the winner of the UGA @ South Carolina series should be an automatic regional host. Lastly the boys make their Weekend Series Pick'em picks NC State vs Virginia Clemson vs Wake Forest Fairfield vs Niagra Northeastern vs Charleston Samford vs UNCG Indiana vs Nebraska

This episode we start off by looking at Charlie Condon's historic year so far, hitting 33HR tying the all-time BBCOR record. We parlay that into looking at UGA after a series sweep over Vanderbilt Next we go conference by conference and look at the remaining 2 weeks of the regular season and what teams on the regional hosting bubble, and regional at large bubble need to do. We then compare our Mid Major Top 25 from the pre-season until now and look at teams who can make a run to Omaha.

The boys are back recapping the midweek, talking about how college pitching has gotten so much worse over the years even though velocity is way up. Next we make our Weekend Series Pick'em Picks Lastly we build a Field of 64 from scratch and show how we make it.

A little change of pace for this episode. We spend the first 15 minutes or so talking about the Troy vs Coastal series and Jack dives deeper into both teams and their paths. Next we talk about SEC POY and Golden Spikes debate between Charlie Condon and Jac Caglianone. Then we talk about the #ThanksKip situation going on at South Carolina Rizz God Dimitri had to leave after the 1 hour mark so Ben and Jack talk SEC, ACC, Big 12, Pac 12 and preview the midweek the last 40 minutes.

Jack and Ben are back at it again while Dimitri gets his wifi installed in Italy.  A lot of fun exciting moments this weekend, and the boys discuss how even tho there are 5 regular season weekends left, some teams need to start making a move now before it's too late.  We jump around from conferences and give thoughts and feedback Theres a small segment about bringing back the college home run derby and how exciting it would be this year.  Lastly we talk about teams who are on upset alert this midweek and who can make a nice RPI boost on Tuesday. 

Dimitri landed safe in Italy and will be joining us Sunday night, but for this episode, Ben and Jack recap the midweek, make the weekend series pick'em and get distracted on hypothetical investments watching the Masters.  A lot of fun moments and stories throughout the show. Very similar to Club Bromaha

This episode is must listen. The boys get wild and crazy and bring the energy.  We do weekend recap + SEC, ACC, Big 12, PAC 12, SunBelt, etc recaps But after that things get weird.  We do a little Top 5 pick MLB mock draft And the last 30 minutes the boys start hating each other while they try and pick next weekends Weekend Series Pick'em.  Again, this episode brings the energy as the show goes on.

We start the episode after watching the Southern University Jaguars upset LSU at The Box. Awesome moment for those guys.  Next we recap the Arkansas vs LSU series where the Hogs swept the Tigers. This leads us to talking about Condon vs Cags vs Montgomery vs others for SEC player of the Year, Golden Spikes, and Top MLB Draft Picks.  We then recap SEC play, ACC play, and then move to the Big 12 and Pac 12 Lastly, we preview the Midweek and pick a couple upset spots. 

We start off the show with a quick midweek recap. FSU run rules UF, Duke dominates Campbell, and a couple west coast games go into extra innings.  Next we go conference by conference and look at what the standings look like and how many regional bids each conference will get.  We stop halfway thru to make our Weekend Series Pick'em Picks so Jack can leave early to do Boxing Interviews.  LSU @ Arkansas Virginia @ Duke UC Irvine @ Hawaii Louisiana @ Texas State Troy @ Southern Miss UTSA @ Tulane We then finish up the last 12 conferences and pick who we think has a good path at making a regional. 

We start the episode with the South Carolina vs Vanderbilt series where Ben was dead wrong about his take from last week about South Carolina being overrated and Vanderbilt being a Top 3 team in the nation.  We slide down the road and talk about the wild crazy series in Clemson vs FSU and the sweep nobody saw coming after 3 comeback wins for the Tigers.  LSU vs Florida was a series to remember as the Gators take control of the last 2 games and win the series at The Box We bounce back and forth between the SEC and ACC weekends. The Big 12 is about as jumbled up as it can get right now with no team looking like the true Alpha of the conference.  SunBelt is the same way. Too early to tell, but a lot of unexpected things going on in that conference. It's deep as hell.  Lastly we preview the Tuesday midweek and remind the fans that this weekend is primarily Thursday-Saturday because of Easter on Sunday. 

SKIP TO MINUTE 32:00 IF YOU DONT WANT TO LISTEN TO US PICKING OUR MARCH MADNESS BRACKET BASED OFF OF WHO WOULD WIN IN A BASEBALL MATCHUP We decided to fill out our March Madness Bracket picking who we think would win in a baseball game. We used Friday, Saturday, and Sunday starters based on the round.  Next we make our Weekend 6 Pick'em.  Lastly, Jack and Ben preview what their plans are for this weekend. They are doing a North Carolina Baseball Tour or Wake Forest, UNC, High Point, UNCG, and NC State.  Ben and Jack also fill out their own basketball bracket at the very end, and Ben knows nothing about college basketball. 

A lot of over-reactions we will probably regret by this time next week. But we recap all of the SEC, ACC, Big 12, Sun Belt, Pac 12, and Big 10 action and give our hot takes and teams to watch. We end on trying to predict the Top 5 rankings that D1 Baseball comes out with tomorrow.

We then give praise to Campbell and Southern Miss as teams who have answered the doubters (us) so far this season.  We talk Florida State and how they are actually one of the deepest teams in America this year.  Next we do our Weekend Series Pick'em where we break down the 6 toughest series to pick  Lastly, we go over SEC matchups and predict potential upsets. 

Ben battled the flu, and Dimitri battled a stomach virus all weekend but here we are. Just wanted to give our insights on all of the amazing action and viral moments of this weekend.  Jack gives his opinions on the Duke vs Wake Forest and Texas vs Texas Tech series.
