Arkansas and Tennessee face off in perhaps the most anticipated super regional of the NCAA baseball tournament. Graham Doty, Jay Greeson and Chris Lee discuss and give their predictions. Arkansas, led by coach Dave Van Horn, comes in as one of the tournament's hottest teams, and comes off a spectacular weekend with starter Gage Wood and reliever Gabe Gaeckle combining for 20 strikeouts in an 8-3 win over Creighton in the regional final. Zach Root should be the Razorbacks' other starter after going in Game 2 last weekend. The Razorbacks also threw a number of talented a Landon Beidelshies, Aidan Jimenez, Parker Coil and others and have enough depth that it left quality pieces like Will McIntyre parked in the garage. Tennessee coach Tony Vitello's circle of pitching trust seems to be narrowing, as the Vols' four-game regional included multiple appearances from Liam Doyle (135 total pitches), AJ Russell (91), Dylan Loy (36) and Brandon Arvidson (113), with Brayden Krenzel, Austin Breedlove, Andrew Behnke, Nate Snead and Tanner Franklin firing single relief outings in addition to starter Marcus Phillips, who managed 98 pitches in his start. Arkansas' hallmark in its lineup is star power (SEC player of the year Wehiwa Aloy) combined with its balance (starters Charles Davalan, Kuhio Aloy, Cam Kozeal, Brent Iredale, Ryder Helfrick, Logan Maxwell and Justin Thomas all had good offensive seasons). Tennessee's offense is led by future pros Andrew Fischer (who may be the SEC's toughest out) and Gavin Kilen, while freshman Levi Clark came on late in the season and also has to be feared. The Vols have had defensive issues but Hunter Ensley offers a steady presence in center field as well as a reliable bat. The Southeastern 16 crew of Graham Doty, Jay Greeson and Chris Lee previews the Baton Rouge super regional of LSU and West Virginia. LSU's four-man pitching tandem of Kade Anderson, Anthony Eyanson, Casan Evans and Zac Cowan may be the country's best when it comes to covering lots of innings in an elite manner. But can LSU's other talented arms, like Chase Shores, Jaden Noot, William Schmidt, Mavrick Rizy, Cooper Williams, Jacob Mayers and DJ Primeaux step up if called upon for coach Jay Johnson? Consistency has been an issue with LSU's offense. But Ethan Frey has gotten red-hot in the postseason, while Jared Jones, Derek Curiel, Stephen Milam, Daniel Dickenson and regional Game 4 hero Luis Hernandez are also tough outs. The Mountaineers went undefeated in the Clemson regional after knocking off Kentucky in the title game. The pitching is keyed by starters Griffin Kern (who also closed the title game) and Jack Kartsonas, plus, rubber-armed Reese Bassinger. WVU's offense is led by Kyle West, who had an amazing season (.347/.500/.607) at the plate. The bottom of the Mountaineers' balanced order hit well in Clemson, and five players with double-digit steals and Skyler King (.424) and Sam White (.421) also being on-base threats. While the Texas Longhorns' baseball team made an early exit from the SEC Tournament, Texas still managed to grab the No. 2 seed in the NCAA Baseball tournament. That not only affords them friendly confines for the first two weekends of the tournament, but also grants them a favorable draw en route to Omaha.The ladies are heading to the Women's College World Series, despite drama to open the Super Regional against the Clemson Tigers.
