Unfortunately, Jay and I had a bit of a communication problem with our scheduled guest this week. Sooooo, we decided to have ourselves a good ol' Skype hangout. It was a good time and we chatted about work from home arrangements and what that might look like when this whole quarantine situation settles; as well some discussion other newsworthy items like the recently passed firearms legislation. It was great to chat about how the current pandemic and resulting social distancing has impacted her business; which revolves heavily around getting gathering together in the real world. This week, we sat down to chat with local marathon runner, 6-star chaser and entrepreneur, Marc Rodrigue to talk about our ongoing foray into the world of long-distance running and endurance sports. We talk about how Marc got into the sport, the benefits of increased activity and conditioning, his thoughts on nutrition and how this led to his co-founding of Borealis Fresh Farms. We also touch plans for the future and as always, anything that comes to mind. Although we've decided to get moving, this has done little to quench our thirst for the best brews (possibly worsened the problem??). In this episode, we sip on a few cans of Ebb and Flow Session Sour from Muskoka Brewery, as well as a few Lone Pine IPA from Sawdust City Brewing Company. This week, we were invited to facilitate and moderate Anti-Hunger Coalition Timmins (ACT)'s federal candidates debate on Food Insecurity. The event took place at the Lord's Kitchen in Timmins. We had a great evening with some really thoughtful discussion from all the Timmins-James Bay candidates. The delicious meal prepared by chef Michael Yorke was also a nice bonus! This week on Beer and Bullshit, we welcome back actor, writer and all around good dude, Jon Cor and the local transient Jon Belanger (who stays surprisingly put). We covered so much ground in this podcast and jumped to and from every topic imaginable (well maybe not). We had a great time and love having the "Jon's" on to shoot their special brand of BS! After multiple technical delays, we are back to bring you B&B Vol 28. This week, we hang out with Graham Jenner. He is a Criminal Lawyer practicing as an Associate at the law firm of Evans, Bragagnolo & Sullivan LLP. He serves Northeastern Ontario, as well communities from the James Bay coast. It was great to chat with Graham and get his legal perspective on many current issues. We hope to have him on again in the future... hopefully not as personal counsel. As is our custom for these occasions, we helped ourselves to Prophets and Nomads Goes from Collective Arts Brewing.

This week, City of Timmins Mayor Steven Black​ returns to the Beer and Bullshit studio for more talk on politics of all levels and jurisdictions, the upcoming The Stars and Thunder 2017 Timmins International Fireworks​ and his outlook for our community. This week, we hang out with Eric and Scott from Sage - Band. Despite this being the band's first release, they have been very active in the regional music scene over the years; performing in different projects. We talk about their history as musicians, what it takes to "make it" (or whatever that even means these days), and get nostalgic about our experiences playing midget hockey in the small town of Cochrane. For this week's podcast, we were hanging out at The Working Class for Heart Of Gold Fest 2017. Last Friday was Day 4 of 5 and we got to sit and chat with Ian and Darran from headliners The Fullblast, before they absolutely tore the roof off the place! They talked about how it feels to be back after nearly a decade, and opened up about the writing and recording of their new EP Attack.Sustain.Decay. We had a blast with them and were very grateful to have them on the podcast. Following our sit down with The Fullblast, we talked local happenings with Andrew Autio. Andrew is a local journalist with Timminstoday.com, who covers city hall and other community events. We got a chance to catch his perspective on this contentious council term and chatted about ways where prospective 2018 candidates may be able to get some traction.

On this week's podcast, we get back to basics and go one-on-one. We started this podcast to discuss things and let our sometimes (often) not-thought-out ideas undergo each other's scrutiny. Essentially, we thought a beer-fueled discussion show would likely find an audience... and it seems it has. Many thanks to all you great people who are tuning in, subscribing, buying shirts, liking, leaving comments and sharing. It really does mean more than you know. We really got into it this week; talking possible distribution of legal weed, the federal Conservative and NDP leadership races and ponder on the nature of criminal activity and entrapment. On this week's podcast, we chat with Filmmaker/Photographer Adam J McKay​. His work includes writing and directing 2012's The Long Road Home​ as well as the upcoming Hearts of gold​. Adam has also recently started up Birchwood Custom Guitars and Repair​, servicing/building guitars for local musicians. We got into some great discussion about the Canadian film industry, the (lost?) art of debating ideas, the merits of indulging your entrepreneurial spirit and much, much more. Adam is a fascinating guy and a great guest. We hope you'll enjoy the talk as much as we did. As is required, this week's beer of choice was Oatey McOatface (look this up please) Stout from Timmins's own Full Beard Brewing Co.​

This week, we hang out at The Working Class​ with Joel and Eric from a new Timmins-based easy-core act; Featherweight​. They had their first ever live performance last Friday and it was amazing! (more video to come)... We had the pleasure of chatting with them before the doors opened and the place sold out before the first band hit the stage!! Not a bad showing for a brand new band!! These guys were a ton of fun. We talked everything from music and the local scene, to politics and the pros/cons of iPad-based parenting. In this episode, we kept our whistles wet with the familiar flavours of Mill Street Brewery​'s Organic Lager.

This week, we got to hang out at one of the coolest places ever! We recorded this live (at the time) at Full Beard Brewing Co.​ with Jonathan St-Pierre​ and local comic/our friend, Adam MacIvor. We got to sit and chat about Adam's burgeoning stand-up career and how fear holds us back from doing great things. Jon joins in later in the podcast; and we talk about the reception they've received from the Timmins beer-drinking community. They say "when in Rome... drink they're beer" (I think...), so we were lucky enough to sample some of Full Beard's newer concoctions; On The Banks Of The Mattagami Brown Ale and Drop Bear IPA. Is it possible to bottle perfection? We had a blast on location and hope to make this a regular occurrence. Many thanks to Jon and Full Beard for having us.

This week, we hang out with our friend Lindsay Deschamps​. She has been working with a group of local volunteers known as the Falcons For Fort Albany. They have been working for a few months now, laying the groundwork to establish a minor hockey program for the James Bay coast community. Listeners will surely get a sense of her passion for the project. It was a real pleasure to sit and chat about hockey, character-building, sports movies and a whole host of other topics. For this podcast, we sample some Premium Session Lager from Guelph, Ontario's StoneHammer Brewing​

This week, we welcome back the good folks from The Working Class. Johnny Cayen and Krys Saudino came by to talk about the upcoming HEART of GOLD FEST II proudly sponsored by Pabst Blue Ribbon. and a whole lot of other cool stuff. We talk about the line up and how the whole fest has evolved from it's first incarnation last year; along with the challenges of putting on such an ambitious event. We get weird with an Alien Abduction/UFO-themed Rotten Tomatoes game and get serious about current community and global events. It's always a pleasure to hang out and chat with these guys, so pouring a few Naughty Otter Lagers from Gananoque Brewing Company was icing on the cake for this podcast!

This week, we are joined by local hooligans Punktual Alcoholics​. They are a 4-peice punk outfit from Timmins who have been very active in the local scene as of late. 2017 looks to be a big year for these dudes. With many shows lined up and the impending release of their debut effort, you're going to want to check them out! We covered a range of topics including pissing off crowds, getting older as a punk, when or if we should draw a line on free speech and much much more. Also, McGee finally wins the Rotten Tomatoes game! We paired our conversation with a few very drinkable bottles of Tsingtao​ Beer.

Beer and Bullshit is back with the first podcast of 2017! We took some time off over the holidays and are back in full swing with Gilles Bisson MPP, representing the riding of Timmins-James Bay. He is a member of the provincial New Democratic Party. Gilles is a veteran member of the Ontario legislature, who was first elected in 1990. He provided some amazing insight on how provincial politics has evolved during his tenure. We also chatted about the role of government, political divisiveness and how we've all got a lot more in common than we think. We were extremely happy to have Gilles join us and hope to have him on again in the future! In keeping true Beer and Bullshit fashion, we broke with our resolutions to drink less and indulged in some 10-point English IPA from Lake of Bays Brewing Company.

After taking a few weeks off, we're back with our final (possibly) show of the year! With no guest this week, we really just took the time to go over the great guests and beer that have been featured on Beer and Bullshit​ over the past few months. We rehashed some old favourite topics and caught up on recent events while helping ourselves to a few cans of Fortified Stout from Tooth and Nail Brewing Company​. We'd like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who's checked out the podcast in 2016 and wish everyone happy holidays!! We've got a lot planned for 2017 and hope to have you along for the ride! This week, Beer and Bullshit (Jon and Jay that is; McGee was absent) welcome Constable Rick Lemieux. Rick is an officer with the Timmins Police Service and stand-up comedian. He is a well established comic who has shared the stage with the likes of Derek Edwards, Jason Alexander and many others. He has also organized many comedy events in Timmins and area (including the Timmins Comedy Festival); regularly raising money for local non-profit organizations. We talk everything from drawing the line between cop and comic, dealing with hecklers, bombing and much more... Many thanks to Gibby's Tavern in Timmins for hosting us while we chat and put back a few pints of Rickard's Red. NOTE: we had a few technical difficulties related to equipment this week, so don't mind the few breaks. Cheers!

For our 13th instalment, we recorded a live podcast (via YouTube live streaming) with our good friend Jon Belanger; while watching the results roll in for the 2016 US Presidential Election. Needless to say, many polls leading up to the election were dead wrong and we're now saying hello to President-elect Trump. Who'da thought 13 would be an unlucky number? Amidst the chaos, we had a great time chatting with our viewers, talking politics and drinking a few different offerings from Big Rock Brewery.

This week, Beer and Bullshit welcomes Robert Manseau. Robert runs Commerce Management Group in Timmins, ON; performing business consulting services for individual, corporations and municipalities. He has had significant involvement in various projects undertaken across Northern Ontario and remains a passionate proponent of the north's economy. We chat about the economic challenges facing Northern Ontario communities, local politics and expectations vs. limitations, as well as much more. Robert was a real treat to speak to and provided some insight not yet seen on our podcast. We hope you find the talk as valuable as we did... To help facilitate our banter, we imbibe a few Cream Ale tall cans from Muskoka Brewery.

This week, we attempt (unsuccessfully) to decompress from all the seriousness from the past few weeks; and hang out with All The Wasted Years. We chat and drink (a lot) with 3/4 of the Timmins, ON punk rock outfit. Conversation centres mostly on their intoxicated beginnings, band dynamics, racist sport logos and much more. In a Beer and Bullshit first, we run out of beer. These guys are tanks!! ... and it was a Monday! Following our chat, singer Nathan Radey plays an acoustic rendition of their new song "626".

In what's sure to be the talk of the town, B&B talk with Steven Black this week. Steve is the current Mayor of the City of Timmins, former city councillor and former candidate for the Progressive-Conservative Party of Ontario for the riding of Timmins-James Bay. Our discussion centres around the current perceptions of politics in our city, support and opposition for different projects, social media etiquette (... and an epiphany), and much, much more. This is a long one but a good one, so strap yourselves in folks... We had a great time, all while enjoying some delicious Goose IPA from Goose Island Beer Company.

This week, we welcome MP Charlie Angus. Charlie is a member of the New Democratic Party and has been the elected Member of Parliament for the riding of Timmins-James Bay since the 2004 federal election. We talk with him about the beginnings of his political life, cynicism in politics, faux populism, and other interesting topics... To add to this great conversation, we help ourselves to some tasty Wheat Beer from Sidelaunch Brewing Company (Collingwood, ON). This podcast was a real treat to record. We hope you'll find the conversation as fascinating as we did.

This week, Beer and Bullshit​ hosts Jonathan St-Pierre​. Jon is a local entrepreneur who operates Full Beard Brewing​ in Timmins, ON and has been heavily involved in all things beer for quite some time. We talk about the ins and outs of the brewing industry, distribution laws, best and worst movie lawyers and a whole lotta other BS. In honour of having Jon on the podcast, we sample Full Beard's flagship beer: 5 o'clock Shadow Pale Ale. Let's just say... we like it... a lot.

This week, we sit down with City of Timmins Ward 5 Councillor Noella Rinaldo​. Noella is a successful businesswoman and local politician who also serves as Executive Director for the Downtown Timmins BIA​. We chat about how she got into business, toxic politics, the heated discussions that have recently taken place at city hall and much more!! To wash down our bullshit, we sample some Gold Lagered Ale from BIG RIG Brewery​.

This week, we talk to 92.1 Rock DJ/host Ryan Daly. In his short time in Timmins, Daly's managed to make his mark on the local music scene producing the (almost) weekly podcast "Under The Radar", profiling up and coming musical talent from across the country. We get into some lesser know facts about corporate radio, the current circus at city hall and much much more!! As always, we continue our exploration of different craft beers. This week, we get weird and hammer back a few Atomic Smashbomb IPA's from Flying Monkeys Brewery!

This week, we record "live" from The Working Class bar and concert venue in Timmins, ON. Jon Belanger and Jon Cor join us again for stimulating conversation on the new iPhone, the exploding competition (Samsung...), popular music/culture and other semi-pointless stuff. Corey McGee is absent (day to day with a broken nail) tonight.

This week, we chat with Jon Cor. Jon is a Timmins-born actor, writer, musician and all around interesting guy. His current project is playing Hodge Starkweather on Shadowhunters: The Mortal Instruments (Netflix original series). He has worked on the series' Beaver Falls, Dark Matter, Suits, Being Erica and many others. We enjoy his insights on the film/tv industry while sampling some Impact beer from Stack Brewery in Sudbury, ON.

This week, we get deep with Timmins area entrepreneur/concert promoter/good dude John Cayen. John is co-owner of the Working Class bar/concert venue in Timmins, ON and has been a major influence in the local music scene over the past 10 years. We talk about the ups and downs of putting on live events, Colin Kaepernick, Trump's Mexican summit (or standoff), giveaway tickets to an upcoming show... and much more!
