A significant portion of our conversation focuses on Bristol Motor Speedway, examining the track's changes over the years and their effects on racing dynamics. We debate solutions like increasing the banking on the bottom groove to enhance competitiveness. We also touch on the challenges of car parity in NASCAR and the potential departure of Xfinity as the series sponsor. We then dive into F1's race in Bahrain, dissecting Lando's struggles, Yuki's points finish, and the harsh words from former FIA Deputy President's resignation. This week, we're scratching The Itch for extreme behavior. Cody Hanson of Hinder joins us for what turns into a roundtable talk about Bring Me Back to Life, the band's first new album since 2017. He discusses what made the band decide to record new music after initially planning not to, how "Everything Is a Cult" in modern society, how Hinder has embraced the title of "divorced dad rock," and songs from their past that could've hit it big like "Lips of an Angel" ... if the timing were right. Along the way we put respect on the name of Ian Thornley and Big Wreck and learn how many drum kits Cody has... and how many fish tanks Dan has. Enjoy. THE DAGG SESSIONSKen Tizzard and Music For Goats In St.John's in 1982 I cut my teeth playing bass with local skate/punk bands who wholeheartedly embraced the DIY model of the punk rock culture. SNFU were the first band I had ever seen who had taken this model to a national level and upon seeing the energy and intensity of the performance I knew - this was what I wanted to do with my life. At 18 I relocated to Toronto and landed a job at Music Express Magazine which let to the position of photo editor where I got to work with legendary photographers Floria Sigusmondi, Herb Ritts and Annie Leibovitz shooting bands like David Bowie, REM and U2 as well as hundreds of touring band around the world. This introduction to the music business, record companies, PR agencies and band management helped me to understand the relationship of band and audience from the viewpoint of the ‘machine.' As well, sharing office space with Management Trust (Jake Gold) led me to an audition with The Watchmen. In turn this changed my life direction for over a decade as I toured the world and grew as a songwriter and artist. In 1999 I began working a lot with Big Wreck singer Ian Thornley who at the time was married to my sister Christine. Big Wreck and The Watchmen were in between albums and both bands were feeling the weight of years of touring and the change in the record companies as we moved into the digital age. Ian and I decided to form a new band which led to the creation of Thornley with whom I toured relentlessly for many years. Towards the end of Thornley, Ian had decided to recreate the magic that was Big Wreck and again I toured with the band under that name as I began parting ways with the lifestyle and direction of the band. Upon leaving Thornley, there was a period of return to DIY with independent records which captured my solid endeavours - from six string bass singer songwriter (Quest Storey house) through several incarnations of bands including Bad Intent, The Variety Show Players and in 2017 the unlikely local crew which has grown to become Music For Goats. As well, the development of The Whiskey Wednesday Show created a need for a production studio which we also created in our home. The Show has grown into a seven camera, 24 channel audio, weekly livestream hosting guests from Rick Mercer, William Prince and Joey ‘Shithead” Keithley (D.O.A.) to Matt Mays and Bob Izumi. Songs and stories every week with your host Ken Tizzard and Music For Goats. It is now January 2024 and I am once again looking to release another album of original music with the current line-up of Music For Goats; Neil Lucy (guitar) Ken Grant (bass) and Dave Lawrence (drums) and Steve Dagg (RIP - drums). This album titled “THE DAGG SESSIONS” celebrates the songs created before drummer Steve Dagg was diagnosed with Cancer. After a year long battle of treatments Steve passed away in the winter of 2023. We had recorded the drums for the entire record in September before Steve's illness was terminal. The Dagg Sessions is available on all platforms on April 30, 2024 The Dagg Sessions will be available on vinyl thanks to contributors who purchased sections of the back album cover in order to help out with up front costs. Yes, we are sell outs… As for style of this record, I have to say it fits in with the Americana genre pretty well as if combines folk, country, rock and pop into a collection of songs that once again document a time and place in my own personal history. Ken Tizzard www.kentizzard.com ktizzard@kentizzard.com

Zach and Rhett kick things off with a catch-up on recent projects. Rhett celebrates his new 100 watt Two Rock Classic Reverb Signature, which recently terrorized a couple sitting in the front row of one of his gigs. Then guitarist Ariel Posen logs on to, first and foremost, clear up how to pronounce his name. He gives a quick tutorial: just say guitar, add “ee” and “ell,” then take out the “guit” sound.Posen and Rhett swap horror stories from working on film sets, where they were expected to do way more than their job descriptions covered. Both agree that the film life is infinitely worse than touring. “I don't know shit!” protests Posen. “I'm just a guitar player, dude!”Posen discusses how he got into playing slide in standard tuning by learning George Harrison leads (blues slide guitar was never his thing), but Canadian guitarist Kevin Breit inspired him to try open tunings, a process with “a lot of trial by fire, lots of, ‘oops, sorry!'” Blake Mills' 2014 record Heigh Ho prompted Posen to chase lower tunings, although Korn, Limp Bizkit, and Big Wreck lit that same candle years earlier. For the open tuning-curious, Posen suggests starting in open E.Posen talks about how he wrote his new record, and the honesty and simplicity behind his favorite lyricists like Jason Isbell. Finally, the trio dig into how to stack and squeeze the best sounds from your fuzz pedals. (Is a mini version of the Mythos Argo fuzz pedal coming? Zach doesn't say yes—but he doesn't say no, either.) Finally, the crew dips a slick Americana rig that draws a trio of impressive scores.Subscribe, like, and leave us a comment!Big thanks to Sweetwater for sponsoring this episode. James Labrie's fourth solo effort sees him collaborating with guitarist/bassist/composer Paul Logue (EDEN's CURSE) as well as his son, Chance Labrie on drums, guitarist Marco Sfogl and keyboardist Christian “Chrism” Pulkkinen in a sonically stunning journey of beauty, loss and the human condition. A press release reads: 'Going beyond the thematic and personal elements, for James, ‘Beautiful Shade of Grey' presented an opportunity to capture the love and enthusiasm he feels for great songwriting through a vehicle that wasn't tied to the same rules and architypes of his other projects. Reflecting on artists that he's been drawn to over the years, ranging from JOURNEY, FOREIGNER and GINO VANELLI to CHEVELLE, BIG WRECK and PRINCE, the common thread that's kept him coming back to them was their eclectic, unpredictable output.' “All these artists had versality, and I think it's primarily because of this that they maintained my attention. They always, I believe, pushed themselves to ask, ‘what else can I do?'” James as well discusses DREAM THEATER's recent GRAMMY win for the song 'The Alien" off the band's latest album 'A View From The Top Of The World', expanding his creative wings and his current relationship with former DREAM THEATER drummer Mike Portnoy. Wolf Moon's Singer/Songwriter Jimmy Owen and Kelly Lethbridge draw from the creative spirit of great artists from Lindsey Buckingham (Fleetwood Mac) to Jimi Hendrix, from Heart to The Police, producing songs of beauty, sincerity and emotional weight across a range of styles that defies pigeon-holing. The band brings together some of the UK's finest musicians, with Jimmy's formidable lead guitar combined with Kelly Lethbridge's gorgeous sultry vocals backed by the inimitable rhythm section of Erik Stams (drums), Noah Nelson (bass) and Emily Francis on keys. The on-stage chemistry that results is truly captivating. Their first EP Mind Over Matter vol 1 released January 2022 was rewarded with glowing critical acclaim for its ambitious pan-genre patchwork of styles and sounds and striking ecelcticism, with frequent parallels drawn to Buckingham-Nicks. The band leads us through luminous sonic landscapes, through light and shade, with Jimmy's wild and expansive soloing style balanced perfectly by Kelly's silky expressive tone and impressive range. Wolf Moon invoke the untamed panoramas of the West Coast, shifting seamlessly from classic rock beats to sultry blues to acoustic ethereal folk and back again. There is always something new to find in Jimmy's restless harmonies and haunting, poetic lyrics, which will also take centre stage in their forthcoming second album, set for studio in early 2020. Guitar lovers will also be drawn to Jimmy's obsession with tone, working with often rare vintage gear such as ‘70s echo plex and ‘60s Marshall plexi which together with the band's rich vocal harmonies gives Wolf Moon its distinctive big panoramic sound. Beautifully summed up by John Dryland of Cargo Records, “Wolf Moon's always immaculate vocals, subtle and mature songwriting combined with stellar performances all round and with Jimmy Owen's fantastic tone and incredible guitar playing make this band a must-see. Wolf Moon really is one to watch out for.” Wolf Moon's favourite artists and biggest influences include Fleetwood Mac, Sting, John Mayer, Heart, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Bonnie Raitt, Cream, Led Zeppelin, Trucks Tedeschi, James Taylor, Carole King, Joni Mitchell, Paul Simon, Pink Floyd, First Aid Kit, The Eagles, Big Wreck – and many more.
