Since moving to Paris in the late 1980's he's taken the city by storm with gripping, dynamic DJ sets at some of best clubs in the metropolis. His very own Mona Events continues to attract a diverse range of audiences and has long celebrated the Parisian LGBTQ scene. We're thrilled to share the fantastic mix that he's brought to the podcast series today, which includes tracks from the likes of Space Ghost, Duke Hugh and Omar S. Manila-based DJ and producer Pamcy has been making waves in the international music scene with her latest EP, ’Sauce Isle’, which is inspired by the sauces of different cuisines across Asia. She’s added some extremely vibrant flavour to the series this week with a house mix packed full of upbeat summery bangers. Featuring tracks from Lay-Far, Ryuta Muramatsu and Lovebirds, this is a mix that’ll leave you daydreaming about dancing into the early hours of the morning on warm Filipino coastlines. Prior to her incredible recent release through Jun Kamoda’s Jun Records we were overjoyed to hear Pamcy’s 2019 LP, 'BINIBINI' (the title is an old Filipino honorific term for women). In making the album, Pamcy drew inspiration from the everyday experiences, concepts, and objects that have shaped her identity and, on a larger scale, are cultural artefacts of femininity. Speaking in a recent interview with Mixmag, she explained: “Celebrating my identity as a Filipina is not something I deliberately try to do all the time, but I think all of my projects have that in common because everything that I make is rooted in my own reality and identity”. We’ll be waiting with eager anticipation for more sensational material from Pamcy in the future. @pamcy https://pamcy.bandcamp.com https://www.instagram.com/pamcy.mp3/
We’re kicking things off this week with a powerful, thumping mix from Parisian mastermind DJ Physical. His latest EP, Dirty Bastard (Raw Poetry), showcases the artist’s versatility through a brilliant range of pounding breakbeat tunes. You can get a taste of DJ Physical’s latest material in this week’s mix alongside tracks from the likes of Asquith, Raar and Stef Mendesis. @dj-physical https://dj-physical.bandcamp.com/releases https://www.instagram.com/dj.physical/

Luca Averna and Ale Doretto are two Venezians living in Ibiza that aim to capture the true musical spirit of the island under their Residentes Balearicos guise. Often collaborating with Chris Coco, Luca and Ale maintain the breezy and free energy so synonymous with the White Isle through their polished productions, deftly moving between languid beach side chillers to intoxicating house music. With two superb outings on Kenneth Bager’s Music For Dreams label, the pair now make an offering on Shades Of Sound with the Postales EP released this Friday 2nd April https://shadesofsoundmusic.bandcamp.com/album/residentes-balearicos-postales-ep https://soundcloud.com/user-45004009
Amit Kedem has been active as a DJ and producer in Tel Aviv’s underground scene since 2017, focusing mostly on house music. He has a weekly residency at the Hive club, one of the most vibrant venues in the city. In 2020, he released two EP's on YSR records based in Berlin, the most recent being “Bring The Fun Back”. Even with the pandemic forcing club music out of their physical spaces, Amit has continued to brainstorm ideas for his production line “Discolor”, hosting international artists on their podcast series through SoundCloud. They look forward to making parties in the upcoming year as bars/clubs begin to reopen. This mix is representative of Amit’s style, combining deep, melodic and House inspired elements to tell a personal story. He opens the mix by dropping an original forthcoming track in collaboration with Uriah Klapter.
Lithuanian, Vilnius-based Ramūnas aka midnattssoula has already done one mix for Clandestino mix series, but this was about 4 years ago and then he was working with another project. He's been running his own radio show/party series/record label Where Were We? for 3 years now and both Joe Morris and Nick Smith had a chance to be a part of this journey. WWW just dropped its third release and this time it's featuring up-and-coming Frenchman Blaise Balda. There's also a remix pack coming mid-March from the likes of Romain FX, REES, Sauvage World (from Slow Motion fame), and Lithuanian Italo talent Black Feeling. Several of these tracks from both the original EP and a forthcoming remix pack is in the guest mix which showcases Ramunas' passion for more uptempo, dancefloor-oriented Italo house and synth-wave burners. It's totally OK to dance alone, it's time to heal your wounded soul! ; ) Buy link for WWWEP003: https://wherewerewe.bandcamp.com/album/data-dreams-ep-wwwep003 WWW soundcloud: https://soundcloud.com/where-were-we midnattssoula soundcloud: https://soundcloud.com/midnattssoula

We’re very excited to welcome Pescara-based Mat Chiavaroli to the series this week. Back in 2017 we were all blessed with Mat’s incredible debut album ‘No Stranger To Madness’, which followed several years of polished releases through Quintessentials and Kinda Soul Recordings. Hailing from Wigan via Manchester now based in London, Wes Baggaley can be found spinning his beloved vinyl regularly at Dalston Superstore and for RinseFM where he has hosted a monthly show since 2017. For years championing underground house, techno and electro on Manchester's gay clubbing circuit to middling returns, it was not until 2016 following succesful slots at Block9 and NYC Downlow at that year's Glastonbury that Wes started to get serious attention, gaining fans such as Hannah Holland and Prosumer who invited him to play at Panorama Bar and for Boiler Room. A glut of European and festival bookings quickly followed and Wes embarked on a new residency at Dalston Superstore as 'Bottom Heavy' with Dan Beaumont. His mix for us is a frantic session of searing electro cuts and industrial heavy jams. https://soundcloud.com/wes-baggaley
You can’t help but feel elated when listening to the music of Jun Kamoda. It’s no surprise that 'Escape the Night', his latest single, featured on Resident Advisor’s list of July’s Best Music. The Prima Norsk Compilation is back with volume 5. Celebrating all things about Norwegian House scene, which is still very much on the front foot with help from 25 years of service from Beatservice Records. With no less than 14 tracks on this compilation, you'll be spoilt for choice. We've been listening to the strong 4x4 kick and shuffling percussion from Of Norway's 'Normal Eyes'. The party is certainly in the back room with this track. A warehouse bass line reminiscent of early Warp records takes the lead. With fluttering arpeggios eager to follow chasing up and down scales. In the break things go all wigged out, momentarily sidelined. Though you are back in the room when that driving bass kicks in with arpeggios in tow... eyes front, dancing till the early morn.

Pleased to welcome Emil K & Chris C to the series this week who's nomadic Fade To Zaire gatherings have cropped up in various London back rooms, studios, garages and pubs since 2012. Look out for a forthcoming release on Catz n Dogs STEP Recordings imprint this month. https://soundcloud.com/metropolitan-soul-museum
For this milestone 150th episode it's a pleasure to present a mix from Shinichiro Yokota. During the late 1980's and early 1990's, Shinichiro and his cohort Soichi Terada produced a raft of rare US inspired house music gems through their Far East Recordings label, that despite catching the attention of a certain Larry Levan didn't reach the wider audience they deserved. In 2016 Rush Hour unearthed many of these recordings, showcasing them on their 'Sounds From The Far East' compilation followed by Shinichiro's 'Do It Again And Again' album earning them a new legion of fans. His mix for us contains many of these classics and some newer material, a real treat https://soundcloud.com/shinichiro-yokota

Not much is known about Love Ape, other than his natural habitat is somewhere in Amsterdam and he's impressed us recently with well crafted mixes that deftly move between emotive textures, deeper moods and classy house business. Naturally we had to ask for a mix for Clandestino. Love Ape plans to break cover later this year with a couple of original EP's so make sure to keep an eye out for those... https://soundcloud.com/loveape

The latter being Al Mackenzie and Chris Kentish, a duo with a long history of being in the acid house trenches. Recently they announced their musical intent with a solid EP on Pleasure Unit, quickly followed by a release on their own label with remixes from Mr Weatherall and Mind Fair. Later this summer will see an EP on Clandestino, so keep 'em peeled for that. The mix has been crafted by Al, an extended edition of late night sonics... https://soundcloud.com/fieldofdreams
