Stress level: high.Between Bitcoin's drastic drop blasting through my alimony and child support; yes, I asked for the funds to be in Bitcoin, and yes, that day happened to land on October 10, which historically is the worst week for us Jews,  I remain violently underwhelmed by machine learning.I instead cling to my hardcore, conservative, maximalist American values: the Bitcoin white paper, my Bible pure and pristine collateral with no need for interference. Much like my engagement ring, which was a gift. In this season of greetings, it's important to remember what we're grateful for. My list has been the same since I was thirteen years old: cigarettes, private jets, and Xanax.I digress.My guest today is the following Ivy League contemporary: Kyle O'Brien. Send us a textOctober 21st, no fanfare, just me and my thoughts. I have been on X all day, and only later realized gold had fallen sharply. Some people thought I had timed my comments to take gold down, as if I could move the market. It made me laugh.I start by questioning gold's 50 percent gain this year. If that rise is really fundamental, then there must be better trades no one is touching. That brings me to call options, far out on the horizon, like March 2027. I walk through the logic of the SOFR futures call trade. SOFR is the benchmark for dollar short-term interest rates, and its futures price reflects the market's forecast of where rates will be. A call option is a leveraged bet that rates will fall. I break down the math: four basis points equals 100 dollars per contract, 10,000 dollars for a hundred-lot, and a potential half-million profit if rates drop two percent. The beauty and the danger of leverage, all in one example.From there, I dive into the subject that always burns brightest for me: base money. It is the raw chemical of capitalism, the motherlode. Currency in circulation and reserves are its two halves. I describe it as the high-powered juice of the system, created and destroyed by the central bank, not the market.Then I circle back to gold, the old ghost of money. The US once held 700 million ounces, now only 262 million, yet even today gold represents about 19 percent of high-powered money. The Imagineers tucked hidden messages of danger in the Tower of Terror Boiler Room that most guests miss… but we are finding them, one prop at a time. Drop in with us on this episode of Distory with Kate & Kirk as we check into the Hollywood Tower Hotel to decipher the history, secrets, and stories hidden within the design. In this episode, we head back into the Boiler Room of the Tower of Terror to uncover the story being told by Imagineering in the final queue scene before you load onto the attraction. We begin with a seldom-seen Hidden Mickey and some rare concept art from a previous version of the Tower before moving into the left side of the queue to explore the antiques on display. After waxing nostalgic about steam engines, we explain some old-fashioned fuses, take a tour of the hard-to-see props in the caretaker's desk area, and find a very dangerous clock. Kate explains some poetry, Kirk makes us some coffee, and we end our episode with a discussion about how the concept art changed for the elevator indicators, and why. Send us a text25 Years Later: The Inspiration Behind Boiler Room's  "Rectify"#newmusic #numetal #metalmusic #vocalist #boilerroom #rectify Originally formed in 1996 in New York City, Boiler Room released their self‑titled, independent album that same year produced by future Guns N' Roses guitarist Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal. The addition of Rob Caggiano (Anthrax, Volbeat) in 1998 began a creative writing relationship between him and singer Chris Lino and elevated the bands sound and performance. 1999 saw the band opening for nationally recognized acts along the East Coast, including Type O Negative, Life of Agony, Clutch and Static‑X, helping them catch the attention of renowned NYC radio station 92.3 K‑ROCK. Upon the release of their album they toured with Disturbed, Mudvanye, Kittie, and also Headlined a club tour in Europe.The band disbanded in 2001, with Caggiano leaving to join Anthrax and the other members dispersing into various projects. Chris Lino connected with Mike Orlando and finally in 2022, Orlando reached out to Chris and suggested that he consider re-recording and re-releasing some of Boiler Room's previously released songs. This week's special guest is  the multifaceted Cóilí Collins aka DJ Shampain. ing in Galway nearly 10 years ago as a duo with Evan Campbell KETTAMA as VSN. The pair went on to form G-Town Records, and brought Galway to the world stages of dance music, with Shampain playing everything from Boiler Room to tours of China. Shampain and Kettama's Galway influence on the scene culminated in the pair taking over The Big Top marquee outdoors during the Galway Arts Festival in 2023, and putting on an eclectic night with drag artists and drone artists in Salthill. But DJing is not the be all and end all for Cóilí. Shampain is a creative fella who doesn't rest - that means presenting Éire Eile, a TV show on TG4 about subcultures, jointly running a barber shop called Poblacht in Galway city, doing alternative silent film soundtracks with Slaughterhouse, running a mixed media / magazine and label called Freak and this year, finally releasing his own original music, with more to come.
