Email theshow@veedanews.comSlightly delayed but back for another week it's Coffee with Andrew and Rob to brighten your monrings or perhaps make them worse. This week, we literally don't talk about any news at all. Today;s podcast is nothing but complete nonsense which I feel makes for quite the funny episode but we'll see if you feel the same way. We start by talking about Andrew's recent vacation to Tampa to visit his family and he tells us a bit about the new roller coaster at Busch Gardens which he, unfortunately, didn't get to ride. Then, in This Week in Royal Caribbean, Andrew tells us about two very odd passengers. Finally, on the second half, Andrew tells us about his trip to Ikea and what he thought of the store as we go into a "YoGPoD" motif and start thinking about Ikea being run by Santa's elves. All that and much more on today's episode of Coffee with Andrew and Rob. Thanks to our sponsor, Audible.com. I know the episode was delayed by two days but it's here now so go ahead and listen to it because as usual there's a lot of discussion and a lot of laughs. We talked a bit about what's going with The Game Corner and why it's not up yet, gave our expectations on what we would see at E3 this year, commented on this lovely picture of our Commander-in-chief (which we're perfectly fine with), and gave our thoughts on how to lower illegal downloading in the second half. Thanks to our sponsor, Audible.com. There were other topics too, though, like Tim Pawlenty running for the GOP nomination, the latest coming in from Yemen and Libya, Mullah Omar being supposedly killed, and a little bit of criticism on Barack Obama for backing out of returning Israel and Palestine to pre-1967 borders. Fortunately, we are back now for episode 23 and I promise you that there will be a lot of laughs to make up for the missing show. The first thing we talk about is Andrew's application to the Hialeah Police Department and then I proceed to bash the city for being really bad in every way. We then moved on to a little talk about Yemen and Libya after the break and give an update on what's going on in these places. We also talk about the recent earthquake in Spain and we poke a bit of fun at Spaniards which we can do since our roots go back to them. Finally we ended with a bit of discussion on Google's new Chromebook laptop which Andrew finds to be dumb. Thanks to our sponsor, Audible.com. Email theshow@veedanews.comIt's Tuesday which means it's time for another episode of Coffee with Andrew and Rob and as you may imagine, the main topic of discussion was about Osama Bin Laden being dead and what exactly this means for us going forward. We talked a bit about how this will affect the 2012 presidential campaign for Obama and asked the important question about whether or not justice was served. This went on for about 45 minutes, since it's the biggest news of the week by far so it's only fair. However, after that we inadvertently deviated to a bit of talk about the Royal Wedding and had a good laugh at the prince and now princess' expenses and it was a good time. The topic of discussion here, though, were the hats, of course, and how unbelievably ridiculous they were. Thanks to our sponsor, Audible.com. Email theshow@veedanews.comAnd we are back for another week of Coffee with Andrew and Rob. This was a pretty slow news week for the world but pretty great for Andrew, it seems. The first half was entirely devoted to what happened to him this week starting with our new segment, "This Week in Royal Carribbean", in which Andrew had to deal with a customer of Mexican origin that forgot something of vital importance in another city. Then, he talked about a situation which his next door neighbor experienced and what he had to do to help. After the break, we talked for a second about Libya and then spent the rest of the second half going over my review of the BlackBerry PlayBook and what I think of the tablet. Thanks to our sponsor, Audible.com. Joining us this week is Luis Escalona, which I'm sure you remember from the second episode, and Giancarlo Lopez, another good friend of ours. We talked a bit about things going on in the news, including Japan, Mubarak and his sons being detained, and gave a little bit of an explanation of what exactly is happening in Yemen. After the break, we discussed whether or not video games were truly art and gave our thoughts on some recent games we played. Thanks to our sponsor, Audible.com. This time around, we had some good discussion on the things going on around the world. First, we talked a bit about the Dish Network acquisition of Blockbuster, then we moved on to the 7.4 earthquake that hit Japan last week and what that meant for our economy. We spoke about protesters in Egypt demanding the trial of Hosni Mubarak and then moved on to Yemen to see what the latest is in the stepping down of their president. After the break, we discussed France's banning of face veils and then I ranted about France for a good 15 minutes. Finally, we wrapped up the show with the latest on Libya and reiterated why we shouldn't have gotten involved. Thanks to our sponsor, Audible.com. Email theshow@veedanews.comWelcome back for another episode of Coffee with Andrew and Rob. Today we feature our soccer and politics editor, Jeorge Vega, as the special guest. He was kind enough to fill in for me last Monday to write Coffee with Rob and so I had to ask to him to come on the show to give us his take on what he wrote. However, we didn't start the show with that. Instead, we started talking about the potential presidential candidates for the GOP and why none of them have stepped up yet. Then we moved on to Jeorge's article about how to bring this country back on track. After the break, we started talking about how much I hate actors. It was actually really fun to rant about that because while I usually express my opinion on them in small amounts, it was nice to just let it all out in one sitting. After that we ran down some of the April Fools jokes we saw across the Internet. Thanks to our sponsor, Audible.com. Email theshow@veedanews.comAnother week, another episode of Coffee with Andrew and Rob. We had a lot to cover this time around, as we always do, although not as much as we would have expected but still more than enough to bring you guys a show. We started off talking about the AT&T and T-Mobile merger ans what it means for the two companies as well as for Verizon Wireless. After that, we continued with the tech news and talked a bit about the BlackBerry PlayBook as well as gave a bit of a shoutout to the guys over at the CrackBerry.com forums for their approval of the the article I wrote about the product. We also mentioned what was going on in Yemen and wrapped up the first half by talking about how Egypt's stock exchange plummeted. After the break we talked a bit about Libya as we always do but didn't dabble in it too long this week because we quickly moved into the topic of why Cuba hasn't revolted yet. Andrew and I have our takes on that in which we dreamed up a scenario in which Castro gets sent off to work at Fukushima to work on the nuclear reactors without a nuclear suit on and becomes a slave to the Japanese people. Quite the tall tale but it was fun nonetheless.Get the podcast:[iTunes] Subscribe to the show on iTunes[BlackBerry Podcasts] Search for us on the BlackBerry Podcast app for BlackBerry smartphones[RSS] Subscribe to the show via RSS[MP3] Download the MP3 and listen on any playerOr listen here on the page:

Email theshow@veedanews.comLittle late in the evening but I got it out on Tuesday just like I promised. This is episode 16 of Coffee with Andrew and Rob and we had a lot of news to cover. I really liked today's show because I felt that we actually used the new format better this time. We had more actual discussion than in the previous one in which we were just reporting news. As I'm sure you're aware, there was no Coffee with Rob post last week so it all revolved around the news that we featured last week. We started off talking about the two suicide bombings in Afghanistan and Iraq on Monday and gave our take on how our military is doing in these places. We then talked about Obama's new education plan, intended to replace the No Child Left Behind Act and our take on it. After that we moved to talking about Japan's crisis in Fukushima and how Japan is continuing to deal with it as well as our thoughts on what the Japanese are going to be doing in the future. After the break we spoke a bit about Atlantis being discovered, took a jab at the Spanish, and went right into our recent bombings in Libya and what we think of it.Get the podcast:[iTunes] Subscribe to the show on iTunes[BlackBerry Podcasts] Search for us on the BlackBerry Podcast app for BlackBerry smartphones[RSS] Subscribe to the show via RSS[MP3] Download the MP3 and listen on any playerOr listen here on the page:

Email theshow@veedanews.comHere we are again for another great episode of Coffee with Andrew and Rob, this time with no static! Yes, sir, Andrew bought himself a new mic, which I guess I can mark down as a business expense, and now we have a nice clean sound with no annoying noise in the background. Also, we introduced a new format into the show since I figure we like to talk about news anyways. Therefore, now the show will consist of half an hour, or more, of us talking about the news stories featured on the site and then after the break we'll talk about the Coffee with Rob stories.Anyway, because of this new format it was a packed show. We started with the crisis in Japan, then moved on to talking a bit about the new entertainment stories our new editors wrote about, after which we started talking about the situation in Libya. After the break we discussed the proposal the Yemeni president offered to his people and finished that segment off with a little talk about President Obama restarting trials in Guantanamo Bay. After all that we started the Coffee with Rob discussions which were about the teacher in Missiouri who had to resign after being discovered as an ex-porn star and also ranted about how Republicans had forgotten what small government means. All of that in one super-packed hour.Music used: Cold Funk by Kevin MacLeod as the outro.Get the podcast:[iTunes] Subscribe to the show on iTunes[BlackBerry Podcasts] Search for us on the BlackBerry Podcast app for BlackBerry smartphones[RSS] Subscribe to the show via RSS[MP3] Download the MP3 and listen on any playerOr listen here on the page:

I'm sure you've seen all the newness here at the website and were still working on getting our stories out and published. Hopefully, this reaches you guys via iTunes, RSS, and BlackBerry Podcasts like it always does but if it doesn't then you can still get it from here. Anyway, today we have a packed show for you guys. This week we finally had our full 3 stories like I promised but we only talked about two of those because we spent quite a bit of the first half talking about Charlie Sheen. Interestingly enough, we had nothing bad to say about the man. After dove into the situation in Libya and gave a few updates about what's happening to them over there. We discussed the planned no-fly zone and came to the conclusion that it is probably a bad idea. After the break, we gave Al Jazeera a nod, talked about life on other planets, and the Ten Commandments being removed from Virginia schools.Music used: Cold Funk by Kevin MacLeod as the outro and The First Thing About Me (demo) by Bradsucks during the intermission. Just to be clear, this is going to be the release day of the shows from now on since it just makes it easier for me to edit so I don't need to keep making excuses when it's late. I figure starting the new schedule exactly on our 3rd month of doing the show is fair and perhaps in another 3 months, or less, the schedule will revert back to Mondays but that's to be seen. This is what's great about podcasts; they can be tailored as needs change.Anyway, today's show was about 10 minutes shorter than usual but this will be the last time that we only have 1 written story on the show. We started off talking about something Andrew read about in the break room at his job which pertains to the happenings on-board a certain ship. Then we moved on to talking about Miami-Dade's recent implementation of electronic tolls, and wrapped it up by talking about rising gas prices and what we think are some good fuel alternatives.Music used: Cold Funk by Kevin MacLeod as the outro and intermission.Get the podcast:[iTunes] Subscribe to the show on iTunes[BlackBerry Podcasts] Search for us on the BlackBerry Podcast app for BlackBerry smartphones[RSS] Subscribe to the show via RSS[MP3] Download the MP3 and listen on any playerOr listen here on the page:

Also, our families were waiting for us to celebrate the incoming new year and we weren't going to miss it. Unfortunately, this time of year is pretty busy for me and it seems that with the entire network, I've bitten off way more than I can chew. Regardless, we do have a show for you and here it is!First topic got off underway pretty quickly. We spoke for a pretty long time about how much longer we had until there was no more physical media or entertainment. Went on a huge tangent about video games, specifically Steam and Gamestop and I even went as far as to allude that Gamestop's days were numbered. After the break we spoke a bit about Minecraft and how incredibly addicting the game is. Andrew told us a bit about what he was working on there which sounds pretty ambitious. After that we spoke about the current education situation here in the United States and concluded that it was in a pretty bad state.Music used: Cold Funk by Kevin MacLeod as the outro and intermission.Get the podcast:[iTunes] Subscribe to the show on iTunes[BlackBerry Podcasts] Search for us on the BlackBerry Podcast app for BlackBerry smartphones[RSS] Subscribe to the show via RSS[MP3] Download the MP3 and listen on any playerOr listen here on the page:Stories covered this week:How long until all things are distributed via Internet?Education in the US is pretty bad.

Last week had a lot of news so we felt it was a good idea to talk about that stuff as well as the two posts that were up on the blog. So I hope that all of this discussion and news makes up for the fact that the podcast is over a day late. I do have to apologize for this as well as for not having a blog post up yesterday but either way, here's your show!We started off talking about Hosni Mubarak's resignation which happened on Friday. He definitely took us by surprise with this and it was completely unexpected so we had to talk about it. Then we moved on to talking about America's priorities with the construction of the USS Gerald Ford to replace the 5th USS Enterprise and our future for space exploration. After the break, we spoke a bit about unemployment and a proposed Florida law that could help fix this problem. Finally, we wrapped it up by discussing the $53 billion that President Obama put forth for the creation of a new high-speed rail infrastructure in the United States. As you can see, it was a lot to say; so much so that the we nearly passed the one hour mark and had to cut a few things out.Music used: Cold Funk by Kevin MacLeod as the outro and intermission.P.S. Andrew was in a particularly good mood as he will begin to record his new show, The Game Corner, on Thursday so be sure to stay tuned for next week. Also, you may notice our title is different from the one we mentioned on the show. A fourth show and blog will be making its way in the near future so keep an eye out for that. Email theshow@coffeewithrob.netAnd we're finally back on schedule with the podcast and I couldn't possibly be happier about it. I actually wasn't all too sure if I would be able to bring it out today because Andrew had a hectic schedule with his job this week and we ended up recording late last night. Also, you might notice that this is the very first episode with a real title and that's because I plan on spicing up the titles of our shows from now on. However, I got it done and now have a fresh new show for you to listen to if you're in the car on the way to work or school or just really, really bored. Regardless have a listen because it was a packed show.Andrew and I started off talking about President Barack Obama's 2011 State of the Union address. We had some opinions on what he said and mostly wondered where our "change" was. I went into a bit of a rant on the current salary situation teachers are facing and both Andrew and I came to the conclusion that it President Obama wants to fix education, he needs to ensure that teachers can live off their salary. Then we moved on into the potential implications of phones being used as universal transaction devices and finally wrapped it up with a nice long talk about what is happening in Egypt and the Middle East. This is a hot topic, folks, so you're going to want to know about it.P.S. If you're wondering about the title, during the break we pondered how cool it would be if you could print pizza... Don't ask. After the show, though, we came up with a hit TV game show called, The Time is Right, and it's basically about microwaves and some other stupid thing. Trust me, you don't miss much during the break...Music used: Cold Funk by Kevin MacLeod at the end of the show and Fixing My Brain by Bradsucks during the intermission.Get the podcast:[iTunes] Subscribe to the show on iTunes[BlackBerry Podcasts] Search for us on the BlackBerry Podcast app for BlackBerry smartphones[RSS] Subscribe to the show via RSS[MP3] Download the MP3 and listen on any playerOr listen here on the page:Stories covered this week:2011 State of the Union addressYour phone is way more than just a phone.Middle Eastern revolts show sign of big change in the region.

Sorry for the wait guys but look at it this way, now you only need to wait half as long for the next episode! What's that? You didn't really mind waiting a week? The show's not that good anyway? Well, then...Anyway, Andrew and I had a very good time recording our show this Monday. It was unusual but we managed to get our act together to bring you guys this episode. We started off talking a bit about the bombing that occurred in Moscow's Domodedovo Airport, but it wasn't one of our major stories. Our major stories were the Comcast buyout of NBC Universal and a bit about unipolar versus bipolar worlds. We even came up with a new hit television series; The European Union Family. Yea it's actually not that funny but it was about 5 minutes of the show.Music used: Cold Funk by Kevin MacLeod at the end of the show and Dirtbag by Bradsucks during the intermission.Get the podcast:[iTunes] Subscribe to the show on iTunes[RSS] Subscribe to the show via RSS[MP3] Download the MP3 and listen on any playerOr listen here on the page:Stories covered this week:Comcast and NBC being budies makes me feel left out.We need you China! We're back with Episode lucky number 7 and we had quite a bit to say. Atheism is on the rise and Andrew and I try to figure out why and why new atheists are so hostile towards people with religious affiliations. Then, we move on to those on the left blaming those on the right over what happened in Arizona. I, once again, expressed my disdain over Sarah Palin, but that's to be expected. Then we wrapped it up by talking about China and why there's no reason to be worried about the 800 lb. gorilla.Music used: Cold Funk by Kevin MacLeod at the end of the show and Making Me Nervous by Bradsucks.Get the podcast:[iTunes] Subscribe to the show on iTunes[RSS] Subscribe to the show via RSS[MP3] Download the MP3 and listen on any playerOr listen here on the page:Stories covered this week:Militant atheism is on the rise: http://www.coffeewithrob.net/2011/01/there-are-way-too-many-atheists-that-id.htmlIt's not hate speech: http://www.coffeewithrob.net/2011/01/welcome-to-coffee-with-rob-highly.htmlChina is all right: http://www.coffeewithrob.net/2011/01/if-60-ton-gorilla-can-be-shot-down-from.html

Email theshow@coffeewithrob.netBack to our usual length of about an hour for the first episode of the new year. Hope it's going great for all of you so far. As for us, we had a good discussion. Today we talk a bit about CES and how great it was. We mention what's going on in future tech and what we could be seeing on shelves in the coming months. Talked about Lady Gaga's job over at Polaroid (which she's doing great, by the way), how TV makers finally realized that the 3D glasses suck, went over if tablets were right for us, and wrapped it up with a discussion about AIDS. Sounds like a packed show to me.Music used: Cold Funk by Kevin MacLeod at the start and end of the show and Protofunk by Kevin MacLeod during the intermission. Also, all credit goes to Explosm.net for their Cyanide and Happiness comic, Abbot and Costello get an AIDS test, used after the intermission.Get the podcast:[iTunes] Subscribe to the show on iTunes[RSS] Subscribe to the show via RSS[MP3] Download the MP3 and listen on any playerOr listen here on the page:Stories covered this week:CES is cool, 'nuff said: http://ces.cnet.com/Tablet wars!
