In a bonus episode drop, we're sharing the recording from a special evening we hosted with Pete Greig (founder of 24-7 Prayer) during his visit through Kansas City. Adam Cox and David Blackwell host a playful and provoking conversation with Pete to help Navah connect with the past, present and future story of the wider 24-7 Prayer movement.

Adam continues by rehearsing our roots as a prayerful family on mission surrendered to the Holy Spirit and the promises of Jesus that still hold true through the process of pruning.
As we close out Season 3, these final two episodes are pulled from a teaching time Juli and Adam Cox gave during our recent Spring Retreat. Seasonly timely, Juli starts off with exploring the differences between voluntary vs involuntary transitions, and pruning vs topping in how we see and receive change, loss, and growth from the Lord.
Rule of Life, Ep 13 : Continuing David and Adam’s conversation with Doug and Julie Day, the Day’s expound on their practical history of spiritual disciplines and how over their life—from being newlyweds to parents, and from the home to the workspace—they’ve worked to continually plan out a structure of small disciplines that have brought refreshment and strength to their family.
Rule of Life, Ep 12 : Launching conversation around the “Saints Gathered” part of Navah’s Common Rule, David and Adam talk with Doug and Julie Day about being a family on mission gathered together and the power that comes through the hospitality of welcoming the life of Jesus in each other that we only get when we gather.
Rule of Life, Ep 11 : This week, David and Adam hang out with Gary Schmitz, a local father in the faith and leader in the citywide prayer movement, PrayKC, and hear about his 20+ year dedication to reading scripture in community and how his pursuit of hunger for the word of God has sown into his life over the decades.
Rule of Life, Ep 10 : In this second part of David’s conversation with Tim Goddu about the Sabbath we focus on the fourth word of Sabbath: Contemplation, our unhurried attention on Jesus. We talk about the barriers of busy-ness and some of the practices of Listening Prayer and Scripture Memorization as a part of our Sabbath contemplation of and towards hearing the voice of God.
Rule of Life, Ep 9 : We continue our conversations around Sabbath as David sits down with Tim Goddu. Tim reflects how through his life the pursuit of Sabbath helped him lean into the strength of God’s way for his life instead of our own energy, and how Sabbath is a foundational piece of shaping his intimacy with Jesus, whether it be in seasons of hustle and intense ministry, or seasons of grief.
Rule of Life, Ep 8 : In the second part of David and Adam’s conversation about the Sabbath, they talk about they have used the Four Words of Sabbath—Stop, Rest, Delight, and Contemplate—as a practical way to help their ongoing journey and how these four words help anchor a new mindset about a Sabbath life trusting our lives, families, and world to God over our own energies.
Rule of Life, Ep 7: David and Adam begin to unpack their last few years of learning why practicing Sabbath is the design of God for our lives, moving beyond seeing it as merely “a day off” to an invitation from the Father to sow into and foreshadow the eternal life of rest He has for us.
Rule of Life, Ep 6: Joshua ad Meredith Johnson are leaders in the missions organization All Nations, and are a part of Navah’s Home Church Equipping Team. The Johnsons spoke with David and reflected on how spiritual practices aren’t just for our own edification but how the simple practices of abiding with Christ are integrated in the great Commission of disciplining others.
Rule of Life, Ep 5: Silence and Solitude. David, Katie, and Juli expound on their different experiences and practice of silence and solitude as a part of prayer. Whether it be a willful surrender of our ego to the Lord’s timing in the midst of a fast past culture or the easy, restful coming home to the Lord, we highlight the importance and power of letting stillness become the new norm of our hearts.
Rule of Life, Ep 4: From swing sets to road trips, to folding laundry, silence or weeping, David sits with Katie Egli to think back on their learning experiences of prayer and how we grow in our prayer by reframing our conversations around “I want to enjoy prayer more” instead of “I’m not praying enough”.
Rule of Life Series, Ep 3: David hangs out with Adam Chiarelli to talk about the Bible and each of their own history of moving from familiar to fascinated with the written word and how the scriptures can be a pathway to relationship with God.
Rule of Life Series, Ep 2: Continuing to talk about spiritual practices, Adam and Juli Cox share with David Blackwell about their own personal histories of attempting a Rule of Life, and how they have worked to move away from holding these practices as a rigid, perfectionistic burden to an ongoing process of letting Jesus teaching us through our fumbling and joyful attempts to live like Him.
Launching Season 3, we are shifting our focus to conversations on how we are engaging in a Common Rule of spiritual practices together as a church family. Adam & Juli Cox and David Blackwell share their own heart for and experience of spiritual practices and how we aim to bring them together into a "Rule of Life” in order to form of our lives around the priorities of love. For more info on our Common Rule of Life, see links below.

We continue with more conversation about the seasons we find ourself in as David sits down to talk with Adam Cox about the movement of Jesus in the near past (and near future) of Navah. Looking at how we live in a year of uncertainty and turmoil, Adam dives into the vulnerability of how to receive pressure out of James 1, and then how do we walk forward in that pressure.
(Part 2 of 2) In the second half of David' conversation with Katie Egli around the prophetic, we delve into the murkier waters of our responsibility to test and weigh words in the midst of relationship, our need for both diversity and disagreement, and how we submit our personal filters as we discern both the personal and public words we feel from God.
(Part 1 of 2) In a bit of departure from storytelling, David hangs out with Katie Egli for a conversation about the meeting place of the pastoral and the prophetic, specifically in places of differences or downright disagreement in the church. Drawing from Galatians 5, we talk about how the fruits of the Spirit push us to prioritize humility and friendship over ‘being right’.
After decades of missionary life in Morocco, Robb and Patti Black were asked to move to Kansas City. David sits with them to hear their story of being led by the Lord to wait in Kansas City and now to again love and live among the Muslim people, now here in Kansas City, in partnership with All Nations and Hope for Ismael. If you are inspired by the Black’s story and want to know more about how to be prayer or finance partners with them, or to take part in their course “Lead with Love” (an 8-week course around cross-cultural discipleship with Muslims) you can email Robb at krobb.black@gmail.com
