Sent us text! We would love to hear from you! Team pride is one of the most powerful forces in human psychology — and in Episode 253, Commander Drew and Dr. Paul dig into why that rush hits so hard, where it comes from, and what it means for your real life. Whether your team just won a championship or you're watching someone hold a job offer letter for the first time, the chemistry is the same: identity, belonging, and the electric charge of shared victory. From the roar of a packed stadium to the quiet dignity of a Korean War vet being walked home by a teenager in a hoodie, this episode is about what it means to win together — and what it costs when pride tips into tribalism. The Wingmen also celebrate a once-in-a-generation moment: the New York Knicks returning to the NBA Finals after 27 years, and a franchise using that spotlight to open doors for kids who never thought they'd get through them. The Frequent Flow Line letter from Michael in Juneau, Alaska hits differently — a 34-year-old man caught between love for his aging parents and resentment toward sisters who've quietly checked out of caregiving. And The Gouge tackles the single habit that quietly destroys more potential than bad luck ever will.
Today’s first caller is replacing an exterior timber side door that leads to her garage, but she doesn't trust the big box stores. What can she do? Our next caller needs to replace the roof on her home but is unsure if she should go with fire-resistant or non-fire-resistant roofing material. Another listener recently built a house and wants to put in a freestanding bathtub, but the issue is it’s hard to get into for an older person, what with that tall wall! Is a tub with a door the answer? See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
This is a clip from my upcoming Broadway Drumming 101 conversation with Morgan Parker, currently holding the drum chair for A Beautiful Noise: The Neil Diamond Musical.Morgan dropped a lot of wisdom in this episode, but this part really stood out to me.One of her mentors told her that you're going to feel overwhelmed when the phone won't stop ringing… but you're also going to feel overwhelmed when the phone doesn't ring. That's the reality of this business.Morgan also talks about how dangerous it is to compare your path to other people's careers, especially in the social media era. Some musicians land major gigs quickly. For others, it can take years or even decades. Everybody comes to music in their own time. What matters is staying prepared, staying humble, keeping your ego in check, and continuing to grow.Morgan's career is a great example of that mindset in action. Along with Broadway and Off-Broadway credits, she's also worked as a stage manager for The New York Pops and performed in everything from theater productions to television performances and concert halls.Really great conversation. Trump claimed the US was in productive talks with Iran, but Iranian officials flatly denied any negotiations took place. The contradiction came within hours of Trump threatening to bomb Iranian civilian infrastructure, a move widely considered a war crime under international law. When the announcement hit, markets surged roughly a thousand points before dropping again once people realized the talks Trump described simply never happened. Steve Witoff and Jared Kushner, two New York and New Jersey real estate developers with no background in nuclear science or arms control, are reportedly the ones being sent in to negotiate the structure of Iran's nuclear program. Senior Iranian officials with deep expertise in these areas have reportedly treated them accordingly. Trump previously tore up the JCPOA during his first term and has now used the pretense of negotiations as cover for military action at least twice, including at the end of February when negotiations were reportedly ongoing and the US launched its current war. The Wall Street Journal's Gerard Baker noted that Americans are now in the position of having to trust the enemy's account of events over their own government's. The Strait of Hormuz deadline was extended five days. Iran has warned it will target Gulf State energy infrastructure if the US strikes civilian targets. Multiple experts had warned Trump that Iran would close the strait and retaliate against Gulf States before this war began. Trump publicly claimed nobody had thought of either possibility. Republican Senate sources told journalist Tara Palmieri there is zero confidence in Pete Hegseth at the Pentagon. No clear exit strategy exists. The State Department has issued a worldwide safety alert for American travelers as the Dow sits more than 4,000 points below its recent high. Whatever verdict comes out of the Kouri Richins trial, it's going to say something important — about the evidentiary bar for circumstantial murder cases, about how we detect alleged domestic poisoning, and about the gap between the story the public follows and the case a jury actually decides.Bob Motta and Robin Dreeke tackle the broader implications of this trial in this panel segment. The children's book. The Dateline interview proclaiming innocence. The year-plus gap between Eric Richins' death and Kouri's arrest. What does all of that tell us about how alleged perpetrators navigate the window before charges are filed — and how much that public narrative shapes the prosecution that follows? The panel also goes at the acquittal hypothetical directly. Not as a prediction — as a legal and moral question. If the evidence isn't enough to convict, is that a failure of the system or proof that it works? Two experts, one of the most discussed murder trials in the country, and the questions that go well beyond the verdict.Kouri Richins has pleaded not guilty to all charges.Join Our SubStack For AD-FREE ADVANCE EPISODES & EXTRAS!: https://hiddenkillers.substack.com/Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? Like many people, my daily schedule must run on time and has a routine. While that's a great goal for a president to have, it must be nearly impossible. We present to you today what we know about President Trump giving the command to attack Iran and the other things he was doing when he gave the nine word order. It's truly incredible to hear and of course, finished with him ordering hamburgers for everyone at a Whataburger in Texas. Amazing. Trump also summed up what we discussed a little on yesterday's podcast... the Dems are going to criticize him no matter what. Many dems that were calling for action against Iran are now blasting Trump for doing it. You can't make this up. Bill Clinton's testimony in the Epstein investigation is sad and embarrassing. We are not only reminded what a creepy and out of control man he is... now his hands shake profusely and he seems confused. This is not good for America. We touched a nerve talking about Pastor Adam Hamilton and his run for US Senate as the emails I received were all about uncomfortable experiences people have had with Hamilton and his church. I can't get enough infor about the runningback the Chiefs want and now it's believed other NFL teams are on high alert to prevent it. The Royals announce the signing of an old outfielder that's had a great career. And ICE has a sneaky new tactic they are using... we'll tell you in our Final Final.

What's up Bros? Is Angel a good housewife? No. Does she deserve the level of crap she's currently recieving? Definitely not. It's been slowly but surely getting to be too much and this episode was the tipping point. After a rough night at the AirBnB, the ladies have had enough. Angel apparently was up early making phone calls and trying to sort things out. On the PJ to Aspen, she attempts to apologize and is met with an onslaught of verbal attacks. We understand calling her out for the house and lack of checking on things. But after all the points have been made and the other women CONTINUE to pile on, it just gets sad to watch. It carries over into Aspen when Gizelle ramps it up to an unnecessary degree. And now we find out that production may be behind this entire thing? Learn more about your ad choices. Would this be a successful season either way?
As a new year begins, there is often an unspoken pressure to feel motivated, clear, and already moving forward. But not everyone starts the year feeling strong. Some start stalled. Some start somewhere in between. In this episode of PTSD and Beyond, we explore why either way is okay and why what matters most is practicing the space of G.R.A.C.E. Grace is not a process. Grace is a practice. When we feel stalled, old patterns often rush in. Shame. Stigma. Rumination. Past criticisms. Stories that were never ours to carry. None of these support healing or growth. This episode introduces the G.R.A.C.E. practice as a way to move beyond coping and into grounded, compassionate self leadership. In this episode, we explore: • Why starting strong does not eliminate the need for grace • Why starting stalled is not a failure • How shame and past conditioning hijack the nervous system • Why grace is a daily practice, not a checklist The G.R.A.C.E. Practice G Ground Returning to the body and the present moment through sensation and breath. R Recognize Naming what is activated while staying anchored in now. A Allow Giving yourself permission to assess and adjust rather than suppress or react. C Choose Remembering that you have choice and practicing responses ahead of time. E Exit and Emerge Stepping into safety and returning when ready, without rushing or escaping. Whether this year has started strong or stalled, this practice offers a way forward that honors healing, agency, and humanity. If this episode resonates, consider sharing it with someone who may need permission to slow down and offer themselves grace. Follow, subscribe, and leave a review to support PTSD and Beyond. First, whatever Baker…. Now, moving on.It's been a while since our Boys in Black & Gold have been 1-6. Kinda reminds us of old times…But, we know what this year is, so question is: Will we see our Saints bounce back and at least perform better this week than last? Obviously, we want the W, but an upset/win would be lagniappe at this point. We get into what we want to see in this one and what we think we'll actually see.The McCoy injury, for one, is scary - add Vita Vea literally on top of that injured spot, and man, can already feel the involuntary cringe. BUT, they're banged up too, right??EITHER WAY, we have some young guns that can build on promising starts, and we get a chance to see if Rattler can answer the bell or if we get closer to Shough-ing oysters. Also, of course, Corey has a LOCK that the guys actually feel good about. From guitar virtuosos to vocal powerhouses, Matt and Sam's "Women Who Rock: Volume 2" showcases twelve artists who represent the extraordinary breadth and depth of women's contributions to rock music.St. Vincent (Annie Clark) kicks things off with "Los Ageless," her scathing take on Los Angeles culture wrapped in irresistible guitar work. Meanwhile, Kate Bush's "Running Up That Hill" demonstrates how great music transcends time, finding a whole new generation of listeners through Stranger Things – likely causing Bush herself to wake up one morning wondering why her 37-year-old song was suddenly topping global charts. The mix features several guitar virtuosos deserving wider recognition. Orianthi, who's performed alongside Michael Jackson and Alice Cooper, delivers both technical brilliance and emotional resonance on "According to You." Even more surprising is Kaki King's instrumental "Default Shell," showcasing finger techniques so complex they seem impossible to be produced by human hands – explaining why she's collaborated with Eddie Vedder and toured with Foo Fighters.Modern innovators get their due through Maggie Rogers' "Anywhere With You" , CHVRCHES' build-up masterpiece "Clearest Blue," and The Joy Formidable's "Worrying," which culminates in an extended instrumental finale that serves as perfect running music for those final miles. We close with HAIM's Eagles-influenced harmonies on "The Wire" and Bully's raw punk energy on "Either Way" – proving that women aren't just participating in rock's evolution, they're driving it forward in exciting new directions. This isn't just a collection of women who play rock music – it's a celebration of essential artists whose technical skill, songwriting prowess, and unique perspectives continue to reshape what rock can be.Follow us on Instagram @superawesomemix and join our growing community of music lovers who understand that great music transcends all boundaries.https://open.spotify.com/playlist/7cMQ2xZQcDAoG6yx4KLDzF?si=ec5e4f18da1e419c Los Ageless by St. VincentRunning Up That Hill by Kate BushC'mon C'mon by Sheryl CrowBurning by Yeah Yeah YeahsAccording To You by OrianthiAnywhere With You by Maggie RogersAll American Girl by Melissa EtheridgeClearest Blue by CHVRCHESDefault Shell by Kaki KingWhirring by The Joy FormidableThe Wire by HAIMEither Way by Bully Support the showVisit us at https://www.superawesomemix.com to learn more about our app, our merchandise, our cards, and more!
On this Healthy Mind, Healthy Life episode, high-performance coach and speaker Brett Eaton unpacks the core idea from his upcoming book, Uncomfortable Either Way: you can choose short-term comfort and live with long-term regret—or choose productive discomfort and earn growth, confidence, and momentum. We dig into comfort traps (like all-or-nothing thinking), fitness-to-life parallels (discipline, consistency, standards), and Brett's mountain challenges—from Mount Washington to the 29029 Everest event—to show how focusing on “the next few steps” beats obsessing over the summit. Direct, practical, and built for action, this conversation gives you a framework to pick the discomfort that moves you forward. About the guest Brett Eaton is a high-performance coach, motivational speaker, and author of Uncomfortable Either Way (releasing September 9). He helps ambitious people replace comfort-driven routines with growth-driven choices through simple, repeatable habits and honest self-assessment. Key takeaways : Discomfort is unavoidable; your power lies in choosing the version that creates growth rather than regret. Comfort often returns as stagnation, “I wish I would have,” and lost time—avoidance doesn't remove discomfort, it only delays it. Fitness is a fair mirror: you get out what you put in. Discipline, reps, and recovery translate directly to career and relationships. Beware the all-or-nothing trap. Early motivation fades; systems, routines, and accountability keep you going when it's not exciting. Productive discomfort isn't 24/7 grind. Pick intentional challenges, recover well, and keep standards high over time. Climb thinking beats summit obsession: control the next steps in front of you and let compounding effort create outcomes. Brutal honesty accelerates change—name where you're letting things slide and close those gaps with specific actions. Identity follows behavior: small daily choices (mornings, inputs, peers) shape who you become. Failure is information. Missed edits, blown deadlines, or tough workouts are feedback loops, not verdicts. Enjoy the climb. The summit is brief; pride comes from the two years of consistent work no one sees. Roland Martin, Guido Hibdon and Kevin VanDam were the only people in history to ever win back to back Bassmaster Angler of the Year titles until last week, when Chris Johnston joined the club. Chris Johnston took a break from winning tournaments to join the podcast and discuss his historic season, the stress of competition, team fishing, fans, haters and of course his thoughts on the new Bassmaster Forward Facing rules. Some love them, some hate them but either way Chris Johnston does not care, he just wants to fish!

You know that thing where you keep waiting to “feel ready” before you go after what you want? Yeah—Brett Eaton's here to call you out for that. Author of Uncomfortable Either Way and sought after keynote speaker, Brett sits down with Michael Chernow to talk about the stuff we all need to hear: what confidence actually is, why pretending to be someone else will eat you alive, and how your phone might be living a better life than you. They even get into how figuring out what makes you miserable might be the fastest way to figure out what makes you happy. The two explore:What even is confidence: Brett's definitionWhy authenticity matters more than anythingFinding Happiness: How unhappiness points you toward happinessUncomfortable Either Way: The real goal of Brett's bookBrett's morning routine for a clear headIf you've been stuck, stalling, or just feeling meh—this episode is your sign to shake things up. Launch Your Box Podcast with Sarah Williams | Start, Launch, and Grow Your Subscription Box
Should your subscription box be available all the time or only during specific launch windows? It's one of the most common questions I get inside Launch Your Box. But here's the truth… It's not about whether your cart is open or closed. It's about whether you're giving people a reason to subscribe right now. In this week's Friday Fuel episode of The Launch Your Box Podcast, I'm breaking down the difference between open cart and closed cart subscription models, the pros and cons of each, and what really moves the needle when it's time to grow your subscriber count. I also share a simple strategy that works with either model to create urgency and excitement: the launch bonus with examples you can use without spending a fortune. Open Cart Subscription Model Your subscription box is always live, and subscribers can join at any time. It's simple and steady, but it lacks urgency. You have to create your own momentum. Closed Cart Subscription Model You open the cart for a limited window a few times a year. It builds buzz and urgency, but only if you show up and promote it well. Both work. I've used both. But the most important thing? YOU are the one who creates urgency. It's about how you talk about your box, how you show up, and whether or not you give people a reason to say yes this week. When I launched my Monogram Box™ in April, I offered a free monogram tee to anyone who subscribed that week. That bonus helped me sell out 432 spots. The bonus worked again during my July teacher launch, when I offered a personalized “Teacher” tee to new subscribers. That simple extra created urgency and excitement. And brought in results. Whether your cart is open or closed, a bonus can help you say, “This week matters. Here's why.” Try one of these subscriber-worthy extras: An exclusive item they can't get anywhere else A personalized detail like a name or monogram A small gift that matches your box's theme A digital download or printable Leftover inventory from a previous month Your bonus doesn't have to be expensive—it just has to be timely and thoughtful. Your Friday Fuel Action Step Map out your next launch bonus. Ask yourself: What could I offer that feels special and simple? When will I offer it and when will it end? How will I promote it through email, social, and your website? Write it down. Plug it into your calendar. And remember: when you're excited, your audience will be, too. Join me for this episode and find out why it's not about whether your subscription box is open or closed – it's about getting people to say yes.
