Hi lovelies!  On todays episode I have the pleasure of speaking to Judy Koons, a Spiritual Leader, Motivational Speaker, and Author at DAUR.co. With decades of experience, Judy has dedicated her life to supporting individuals in reclaiming true health on mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual levels   Judy talks about finding those golden threads and discusses what it is to be "spellbound"   It is what happens when all the messages of the past build up, and you are left unable to access your brilliance. This could look like old trauma, words said that you adopted about yourself, or past experiences. It all adds up.   What if there was a way to release yourself from the accumulation in the way of designing your life? Imagine going from spell bound to super ordinary. What could your life be like if you no longer had to willpower, push through, or vigilantly control everything around you?   Judy talks about using Freedom Process with individuals  choosing to end gteh war within and come back to the magic of life,  She brings clarity and inner peace back go your life.   We always talk about breathing and how important it is to breathe but Judy talks about coming into your breath and accumulation is what binds us.     One of the things Judy said that I love love love is when your spellbound the brilliance in you has no way to shine out!  Such a powerful statement.   Judy's book - "Spellbound No more: An Invitation to Undo the Bonds of Trauma and Live a Super Ordinary Life" comes out January 2025.  Look out for it and purchase!  She can also be followed on her newly launched podcast 'Are you Breathing'   Judy can be found at www.daur.co

Hello and welcome to another episode of Ohio Mysteries: Backroads. Join us tonight for a dive into early spiritualism in Ohio as we discuss the Koon's family spirit room. Family patriarch Jonathan Koons built a cabin on their rural land in Athens County, Ohio and dubbed it their "spirit room". Visitors came from all over the nation to have an otherworldly experience. As the crowds would gather, the lights would darken and the spirits would begin. Soon musical instruments would begin to play seemingly on their own, luminous hands would fly around the room and the show would begin. What happens next? Tune in and find out! Francesco PoliInsegna Arte e Comunicazione all'Università di Torino. On this week's episode, hosts Ben Davis and Kate Brown are joined by the newly-minted Artnet Pro editor and veteran art journalist and critic Andrew Russeth. We're thrilled to have him as a part of our team, and he's making his Art Angle debut with another edition of the Round Up, where we discuss three topics making headlines and sparking conversation in and around the art world. The first subject is the opening of The Dean Collection at the Brooklyn Museum, a show featuring the collection of Swizz Beatz and Alicia Keys titled "Giants," which is generating a lot of buzz for championing the works of Black artists including Kehinde Wiley, Ebony G. Patterson, Jordan Casteel, Henry Taylor, and Hank Willis Thomas, among many, many others. But that's not the only reason it's in the news. Andrew edited a piece by resident Art Detective Katya Kazakina titled "Should Museums Show Art Owned by Patrons? It's Tempting. It Can Also Blow Up" that investigates the fraught history of institutions doing just that. Though Swizz Beatz resigned as a trustee of the Brooklyn Museum three months before the show opened, "Public museums, critics argue, need to guard their curatorial independence and should not be used by wealthy patrons to boost the value of their holdings." The next topic of conversation is about a long-standing issue of ownership and repatriation surrounding an ancestral sculpture from Africa that was bought and sold to the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, where it has resided since 2015. A recent push by the art collective Cercle d'Art des Travailleurs de Plantation Congolaise (CATPC) has resulted in a temporary loan agreement in which the sculpture will be shown at a local gallery in the Democratic Republic of Congo, and simultaneously live-streamed to the Dutch Pavilion at the Venice Biennale. Finally, on a lighter note, we turn to the recent news of Jeff Koons's art making its lunar landing after hitching a ride on the Odysseus Lander. Koons set a record in 2019 when his mirrored sculpture Rabbit fetched a total of $538.9 million, the most expensive price for a living artist at auction. In recent years though, his market has faltered, and the trio discusses if his moonshot will help send his prices back into the stratosphere.

Jeff Koons is one of the most successful artists of our time. For 40+ years, his iconic works have brought a sense of playfulness to museums worldwide, and sometimes a bit of controversy as well. His iconic pop art sculptures include a giant pink rabbit that looks so remarkably like a shiny mylar inflatable, it's hard to believe it is made of metal. His balloon dog, the type you'd see at a child's birthday party, likewise demands a second look. In this recent interview, Koons describes his lifelong love of gazing balls, like the ones he saw growing up in York, Pennsylvania, and how he came to incorporate them (and other reflective surfaces) into his art. He talks about his days as a young, aspiring artist, and his unlikely meeting with Salvador Dalí.  And  he talks about what's next, as he prepares to launch his latest pieces into space.

In the words of today's guest, Noel Koons, "We all dent our children."  Though it may seem like so many other families have everything perfectly together, Noel assures us that isn't true – and with more than 13 years of clinical mental health experience counseling families and individuals, he should know.  In today's episode, Noel explains why these dents are inevitable: It's literally impossible for parents to meet all of their child's emotional needs, many of which rely on social relationships outside the immediate family. And the dents left by our own parents can often frame the way we understand and react to our children.  During this conversation, Noel gives us a crash course in the six universal emotional needs, why "family of origin" work is so important for us to pay attention to, why parents must present a united front to kids using substances, and why some kids feel like they're just "too much" to expect the fulfillment they need.Make sure to check out the show notes for links to a more thorough discussion of the six emotional needs, along with to-do items that can help us fulfill them for ourselves and our families.____________________________________The podcast is now part of a nonprofit called Hopestream Community: www.hopestreamcommunity.orgLearn about The Stream, our private online community for moms, at www.hopestreamcommunity.org/the-stream/Find us on Instagram: @hopestreamcommunityDownload my free e-book, HINDSIGHT: Three Things I Wish I Knew When My Son Was Misusing Drugs: www.brendazane.com/hindsightJoin my email list: www.brendazane.com/email

Koons v. Platkin is a challenge to certain provisions of New Jersey Bill A4769/S3214 – now known as Chapter 131 – that overhauled the state's firearms and concealed carry laws following the U.S. Supreme Court's ruling in New York State Rifle & Pistol Association v. Bruen. Among other things, the law features 25 broad categories of “sensitive places” where permit holders may not carry a firearm. Additionally, the law makes all private property presumptively a “sensitive place” and requires permit holders to obtain consent from the property owner before carrying on their property. Chapter 131 faced legal challenge immediately upon being signed into law by the Governor of New Jersey. At the District Court level, plaintiffs argued that several of the “sensitive place” restrictions plainly violated the Second and Fourteenth Amendments to the U.S. Constitution. Plaintiffs also challenged a provision that required permit holders to render their weapons inoperable while inside a moving vehicle. The State of New Jersey has maintained that Chapter 131 is consistent with the Second Amendment and the decision in Bruen. The District Court granted a TRO and later a preliminary injunction noting that certain parts of the law were “plainly unconstitutional.” The case is now being litigated in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit where oral arguments were heard on October 25, 2023. Peter A. Patterson, Partner at Cooper & Kirk and counsel to plaintiffs, discussed the case.

Natalie's experience in PGSD is a great example of how learning to plan properly as a perfectionist can completely transform your whole life. Natalie explains… “Before PGSD I was chaos. I worked CONSTANTLY but I wasn't getting any of the important stuff done. From the first week I started in PGSD, I knew it was going to change my life - and it absolutely has in the most positive way and it's rippled into my personal life too” On 11 January 2022, Natalie signed up for PGSD. With the help of PGSD coaching and power planning, Natalie was able to quickly launch her course - which she'd been putting off doing for MONTHS. On 3 March 2022, Natalie posted in the PGSD Forum to say that she had 125 people sign up for her sock knitting course and made over $34,000. She hit her first quarterly milestone for her Growth Goal three times over! A milestone that had felt impossible only a few weeks earlier. 8 months into PGSD Natalie had already doubled her previous year's income (2021 income was $59,000 and 2022 income is $125,000 and still growing). Natalie's business has only continued to grow now that she's planning properly as a perfectionist. And in Natalie's words: “I know exactly what I need to do. I have taken the time to plan ahead. I am working through things every single day. I used to go to bed with an anxious feeling and I didn't want to get out of bed in the morning… PGSD has totally eliminated that for me. It's allowed me to feel the fear and the big things that are scary and say “I can do this. I now have support from the PGSD group and Forum and the coaching calls. It's helped me to get up every day and actually be excited to go to work. I've already seen big changes happen in my business. I've been able to be a better business owner and I've been able to help more people because of PGSD.” Recently, I asked Natalie what were the 1-3 milestones that she achieved in her business with the help of PGSD. Natalie replied with: I doubled my previous year's income in the first 8 months of the year. I stopped working on weekends and at night. My husband and I were able to extend our dream of living in NYC from 1 year to 2 years because of the money I am making. Experience PGSD for yourself! Paul felt it was important to put Daniel's book title in the episode title, but Bill's suggested title is too good not to place somewhere: TSSM: NEW BOOK EXPLORES MEANING IN MOTION In this new episode of the “That's So Second Millennium” podcast, your host Paul Giesting, assistant professor of mathematics and sciences at Wyoming Catholic College, interviews his faculty colleague, Dr. Daniel Shields, assistant professor of philosophy. Shields's book, Nature and Nature's God: A Philosophical and Scientific Defense of Aquinas's Unmoved Mover Argument, has just been released by Catholic University of America Press and is available for purchase here. This discussion is tailor-made for these two Catholic scholars who bring broad scientific and philosophical knowledge, plus fervor for conversations at the intersection of multiple disciplines, to their research and teaching. It is also tailor-made for the “TSSM” podcast, which seizes this golden opportunity for a curtain-call while remaining on official hiatus. The podcast generated about 150 episodes between 2018 and 2022, with co-host Bill Schmitt. They focused on the intersection, incorporating everyday life and the pursuit of virtuous wisdom—past, present, and future. Shields makes reference to Dr. Robert C. Koons, professor of philosophy at the University of Texas at Austin. Koons wrote a review of Nature and Nature's God, praising its integration of natural philosophy and metaphysics. The book combines scientific knowledge with insights into the writing of St. Thomas Aquinas. Shields and Giesting go into depth on Aquinas's proofs for the existence of God, especially his favored “first way”—arguing our cosmos filled with motion needs an “unmoved mover” at its origin (and beyond). The discussion elaborates on the idea that God keeps everything in motion. The book, Shields explains, goes on to apply natural philosophy and metaphysics to such subjects as statistical mechanics, contemporary cosmology, and even biology. Through it all, Shields and Giesting make mention of many historical figures, from Aristotle to Copernicus to Newton to Maimonidesto Helmholtz. Present-day references include Brother Guy Consolmagno, SJ, known as the Pope's Astronomer, and quantum physics scholar Sean Carroll.
