Hebrews 4:16 (NIV) “Let us then approach God's throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.” What an extraordinary promise for today. God's throne is not a place of rejection for those who seek Him; it is a place of mercy, compassion and timely help. We are not received because we have earned His favour but because Christ has opened the way for us. So today, let's gently remind ourselves that fear will not win, because Jesus Christ welcomes us into the Father's presence, where mercy is abundant and grace is always enough. Father, thank You that Your door is always open and Your welcome is always filled with love. Thank You that You never turn away those who seek You with sincere hearts and that Your grace meets us exactly where we are. Lord Jesus, bless every listener today. Bring healing to those who are unwell, mercy to those burdened by regret, hope to those who feel discouraged and renewed strength to everyone who is quietly asking for Your help. Teach us to come before You with confidence, trusting Your faithful love. When the disciples asked, "Lord, teach us to pray" (Luke 11:1), Jesus gave them more than a prayer to recite. The Lord's Prayer is a model that teaches us how to structure our daily conversations with God. Each section reveals an important aspect of prayer and helps us develop a deeper relationship with our Heavenly Father.Key Scriptures: Luke 11:1; Matthew 6:9–131. "Our Father in Heaven"Prayer begins by recognising who God is. Through Jesus Christ we have been adopted into God's family and can approach Him confidently as our loving Heavenly Father. No matter what our earthly experience of fatherhood has been, God is a perfect Father. He is loving, righteous, compassionate and generous. Before bringing our requests to Him, we should spend time welcoming His presence, worshipping Him, and thanking Him for adopting us as His children. Key Scripture: Romans 8:14–152. "Hallowed Be Your Name"We honour God by recognising His holy character and declaring who He is. The many names of God reveal His nature:- Jehovah Jireh – The Lord our Provider- Jehovah Rapha – The Lord our Healer- Jehovah Shalom – The Lord our Peace- Jehovah Raah – The Lord our Shepherd- Jehovah Nissi – The Lord our Banner- Jehovah Tsidkenu – The Lord our Righteousness- Jehovah Mekaddesh – The Lord Who Sanctifies- Jehovah Shammah – The Lord Is ThereAs we pray, we remind ourselves of these truths and trust God to be everything He has promised to be in every area of our lives.3. "Your Kingdom Come, Your Will Be Done"Prayer lifts our focus beyond ourselves to God's Kingdom.We live in a spiritual battle between God's Kingdom and the kingdom of darkness. As disciples we pray for God's rule and authority to be established in every area of life.We should regularly pray for:- Government and those in authority- Media- Education- Arts and entertainment- Business- Our families, churches and communitiesPraying this way gives us God's perspective and enlarges our vision for what He wants to accomplish in the world.4. "Give Us Today Our Daily Bread"God cares about every area of our daily lives. Bread represents our daily needs—physical, emotional and spiritual. Jesus teaches us to bring these needs confidently before our Heavenly Father rather than living in worry and anxiety. God already knows what we need and promises to provide as we trust Him.Key Scriptures: Philippians 4:19; Matthew 6:345. "Forgive Us Our Debts, As We Also Have Forgiven Our Debtors"Prayer includes keeping our relationship with God and with others healthy.We should regularly ask the Holy Spirit to reveal any sin that needs repentance, receiving God's forgiveness through Christ. At the same time, we must choose to forgive those who have hurt us. Just as God has shown us mercy, we are called to extend mercy to others. Unforgiveness hinders our relationship with God and prevents us from walking in His love. Key Scriptures: John 13:34; Matthew 186. "Lead Us Not Into Temptation"Temptation is part of living in a fallen world, but God gives us strength to overcome it.Prayer prepares us before temptation comes. As we stay close to Jesus and depend on the Holy Spirit, we receive strength to resist the desires of the flesh and the lies of the enemy.Jesus overcame temptation through His relationship with the Father, and He enables us to do the same.Key Scriptures: 1 John 2:16; John 16:337. "Deliver Us From the Evil One"Our final prayer is for God's protection and deliverance.The enemy seeks to destroy, but Jesus has already defeated Satan through His death and resurrection. We can pray confidently for freedom from fear, addiction, depression, sickness, unforgiveness and every form of spiritual oppression. God's Kingdom, power and glory are greater than every work of darkness. As we pray, we stand in Christ's victory and trust Him to continue delivering us. Key Scripture: 1 Peter 5:8The Lord's Prayer is much more than a prayer to repeat—it is a pattern that teaches us how to build a rich and effective prayer life. By following this model, we begin with worship, align ourselves with God's Kingdom, bring our daily needs before Him, walk in forgiveness, seek His strength against temptation, and trust Him for protection and deliverance.As we learn to pray in this way, our relationship with God deepens, our faith grows stronger, and we become confident that His Kingdom will continue to advance through our lives.

That one line from Jesus cut through every argument the Pharisees could raise, and it points to something hiding in plain sight throughout the Old Testament. This episode works through the story of Melchizedek, the mysterious king and priest who appears briefly in Genesis 14 to bless Abraham after battle. Who was he? Why does he matter? And what does he have to do with Jesus? The episode traces a thread from Genesis through the Psalms, into the Gospels, and lands in the book of Hebrews, where Paul unpacks why Jesus operates in a priesthood that sits entirely outside the old law. Unlike the Levitical priests who served year after year, offering sacrifices that had to be repeated, Jesus stepped into the role of High Priest once and completely, making a way for anyone to come directly to God. The practical takeaway is significant: access to God is no longer limited to once a year through a priest, or tied to keeping the law, or dependent on animal sacrifice. Through Jesus Christ and the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, that direct relationship is available right now. That is what the order of Melchizedek always pointed toward. Key Points: Melchizedek, described as king of righteousness and king of peace, appears in Genesis as a type pointing forward to Jesus Christ, who holds both roles as king and High Priest. The Levitical priesthood was bound by the law and limited by human life, but the order of Melchizedek is endless, giving Jesus a permanent, unchanging priesthood that supersedes everything that came before it. Because Jesus entered the Holy of Holies once and for all through his own blood, the veil was torn and every person now has direct, ongoing access to God without the barrier of the old covenant system. So many kinds, from peppermint to spearmint to ginger, mojito and chocolate mint. We make cream mints for Mother’s Day and finely chopped fresh mint is so good in them. (That’s the recipe I’m sharing today). Basil – the legend is that basil was found growing outside of Christ’s tomb after He resurrected. For containers, there’s a small leafed basil called globe or minuet. Leaves are so small no chopping needed. Dill – Another tithing herb mentioned by Jesus, and yummy with seafood and potatoes. Dukat and Fernleaf are good specimens. Cilantro – Analagous with the manna of the Bible, the seed is called coriander. This bolts to seed in hot weather, so take that into consideration. Thyme – French and English are the gold standards, and there are creeping thymes that hang nicely over the containers edge. Marigold – For Mary! Calendua is a lovely marigold with edible flowers. ***** RECIPE: CREAM MINTS Let the little ones hand form them or use molds. When using molds, roll the mints in granulated, sanding or sparkling sugar before putting into molds. Ingredients4 oz cream cheese, softened (use block, not spreadable cream cheese)1 tablespoon butter, softened4 cups powdered sugar, plus a bit extra for forming mints if necessary1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract1/8 teaspoon vanillaFood coloring (optional) InstructionsBeat cream cheese and butter together, then add 2 cups sugar, blending well.Add extracts, and then rest of powdered sugar.Dough should be very stiff and not sticky – like a play dough consistency so you may need to add a bit more sugar.Add a tiny bit of food coloring and blend.Roll dough into teaspoon sized balls.Place on parchment lined baking sheet and dip the tines of a fork in powdered sugar and gently but firmly press down on each mint.OR roll into balls, then in granulated, sanding or sparkling sugar, then press into molds, smoothing tops.Store at room temperature for a week in single layers or in refrigerator for longer storage.Can also be frozen.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Our culture calls everything compassion—but when compassion is separated from holiness, it becomes corruption. In 1 Corinthians 14, Paul confronts the Corinthians for turning spiritual gifts into a source of confusion rather than unity. The gift of tongues—like every gift of the Spirit—is an act of God's grace meant to build up the church, not draw attention to the individual. When used properly, tongues unite believers with God in prayer and unite people with one another through the clear proclamation of the gospel. Paul therefore gives a simple principle: in the gathered church, speech must be understandable so the whole body can be strengthened. She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord's feet listening to what he said. But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, “Lord, don't you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!” “Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, but few things are needed—or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.”— Luke 10:38-42The Good Samaritan shows us what love does.Mary reminds us where love begins.Prayer teaches us how to stay there.“Lord, teach us to pray, just as John taught his disciples.”— Luke 11:1One day Jesus was praying in a certain place. In our desire for certain outcomes or our confusion over not getting certain outcomes, we are tempted to begin there. But we cannot brush past simply being with the Father and arrive at anything close to the sort of prayer Jesus won back for us.
