As early sports specialization continues to rise, the quality of kids' movement (i.e. running) declines. Gone are the days where we can simply rely on track coaches to teach our kids how to run, and it isn't their fault, they're just parents or volunteers most of the time! That just shows you how little our schools are willing to invest in the damn sport!Anyways, now it is on us as coaches and/or parents to help our kids not only "get there first" but provide them with a skill that will serve them for the rest of their lives. I've heard both Derek Hansen and Jorge Carvajal say, "I'm the guy that's been around for 25 years that no one has heard about."Well, I strongly believe Coach Jack Ginn is one of those guys.Is he going to blow you away with his training methodologies or exercise selection? Absolutely not, but that is a commonality among all great coaches. He will however, make you question who you follow, where you're getting your information from, and why you get up every morning.Coach Ginn has impacted me in ways I'm not sure I'll be able to pay him back; with that in mind, getting this great coach and better man some much-needed recognition and exposure is the least I can do.Here is where you can find and connect with Coach Ginn:Facebook: Jack GinnTwitter: @JackGinnInstagram: @jackginnEmail: ginnj@gvsu.eduClick HERE to secure your spot on the waiting list for Hunter's next book, Speed Stratum: Layering Ground Contact Qualities.Additional Resources:http://charneskipower.com/3-ps-of-speed/You can find out more about Hunter by checking out his website.Would you rather watch the video version instead? "But Hunter, if you're such an advocate for sprinting, then why are we even considering other ways to improve acceleration?!" I'm glad you asked! There are a myriad of reasons, including (but not limited to):- Athletes are tired sometimes. In these situations, is it wise to run them into the ground? Of course not!- If you're channeling your inner "Joe DeFranco" then you may be operating out of a 500 square foot storage closet. In this case, you literally do not have the space to run.- Perhaps your athletes are injured. The biggest problem with goals is that not enough folks have an actual plan to achieve what them. I get it, setting goals is extremely exciting! You've decided to put pen to paper and write down your wants, your desires, your dreams, but without a plan in place, those dreams will remain just that...dreams.In today's episode, we're not going to "set goals" instead, we're going to use the BHAG Managing Tool, 90-Day Objectives, and Key Four to predict the futureIt doesn't matter if you're an athlete, a coach, an aspiring - or current - business owner, if you've got goals for 2020, then this episode is for you.Click HERE to secure your spot on the waiting list for Hunter's next book, Speed Stratum: Layering Ground Contact Qualities.Additional Resources:http://charneskipower.com/3-ps-of-speed/You can find out more about Hunter by checking out his website.Would you rather watch the video version instead? Few things frustrate me more than coaches who don't know how to properly structure a speed session. Now, don't get me wrong, this frustration is coming from a good place, because I only wish to help. It isn't my intention to seem superior, it is only my intention to attempt and reach said coaches with a solution that will:A) Help their athletes achieve the desired result(s).B) Become a system which is able to be streamlined.C) Give them a sense of empowerment for their speed acumen. In today's episode, we discuss a brutally simple, effective, and easy to understand way of programming speed. How could it be so simple? Brianna is one of the most inspiring, uplifting, and strong young women I have ever met. She went from being shy, scared to fail, and quite frankly...slow, to fast, strong, and confident with a smile always on her face.Brianna came to us with two problems:1) She needed to get stronger and faster to beat her opponents.2) She needed to impress her coaches so she could get moved up to the higher level on her club team.Over the course of us working together, Brianna got stronger, she got faster, and just when she thought she had been victorious by getting moved up by her coaches, her would be high school coach put her in a very difficult spot that no young lady should have to deal with.Be sure to listen to this episode to hear how Brianna showed the strength that we all should be inspired by: she stood up for her dreams, herself, and to this tyrant of a coach. If the only thing you get out of this episode is a sense of awe because of Brianna, then it was worth it. Your job is not only to train athletes, but you also need to keep the lights on, and in order to do that, you're gonna have to sell your training services. No biggie, right? This shouldn't be a problem, but unfortunately there are "coaches" out there who promote sport-specificity and "functional" methods that are attracting your prospective clients, taking money out of your pocket, and (negatively) impacting your business. In this episode, Hunter gives you the tools to overcome this nonsense and get you back in the winners circle. Better yet, you're going to do it ethically by being a person of integrity, because that's the way it should be.Agility is necessary, but not at the cost of your athletes' well being and your bottom line.Click HERE to secure your spot on the waiting list for Hunter's next book, Speed Stratum: Layering Ground Contact Qualities.
