Welp, it's almost 2026! Today we're breaking down how to set New Year's goals that actually stick, without pressure, guilt, or perfectionism. Just clarity, compassion, and small steps forward.Let's jump in!Step 1: WHAT MAKES A GOAL SMARTSMART goals are:• Specific• Measurable• Achievable• Relevant• Time‑boundMost goals fail because they're too vague. “Get healthier,” “be more confident,” “save money” — great intentions, zero clarity. SMART goals give you a roadmap instead of a wish.Step 2: THE KINDER APPROACHBefore you set any goal, ask yourself:• Does this goal come from pressure or from purpose?• Does it make my life heavier or lighter?• Is this something I want, or something I think I should want? When your goals come from self‑compassion, they last longer.Step 3: QUICK SMART GOAL EXAMPLESLet's take “I want to get healthier.”SMART version:“For the next 30 days, I'll walk 10 minutes a day to boost my energy.”Or “I want to be more confident.”SMART version:“Every Monday, I'll write down one thing I did well that week.”Small. Clear. Doable.Step 4: MICRO‑GOALSMicro‑goals are tiny actions that build momentum:• Drink one extra glass of water• Read for five minutes• Clean one drawer• Spend 10 minutes on a creative projectThese small wins build trust with yourself — and trust fuels consistency.Step 5: ACCOUNTABILITY WITHOUT SHAMEAccountability doesn't have to feel like judgment. It can be supportive:• Share your goal with someone who roots for you• Track progress visually• Celebrate tiny wins, you can do this by tracking what you are doing, whether with an app or journal etc• Adjust the goal when life changes, life is what happens on the way to your plans, so learn to pivot! you only fail when you quit, so don't...Accountability should feel like partnership, not pressure. As you step into the new year, remember: you don't need a new version of yourself — just a clearer, kinder plan for the version you already are. If this episode helped you, share it with someone who's setting goals too. And if you're working on your own SMART goals, I'd love to hear them. See you next time!TEAM LTP:My IG: @livetoprogressVoice-over credits

🧭 REBEL Rundown 🗝️ Key Points 💨 Peak vs. Plateau Pressures: PIP reflects total airway resistance and compliance, while Pplat isolates alveolar compliance—elevations in both suggest decreased lung compliance (e.g., ARDS, pulmonary edema, pneumothorax).🧱 PEEP Protects Alveoli: Maintains alveolar recruitment and prevents collapse; typical range 5–8 cmH₂O, but higher levels may benefit moderate–severe ARDS.️ Driving Pressure (ΔP = Pplat − PEEP): Lower ΔP reduces atelectrauma and improves outcomes; optimize by adjusting PEEP thoughtfully.💥 Prevent VILI: Keep Pplat < 30 cmH₂O, use low tidal volumes (6 mL/kg IBW), and monitor for barotrauma, volutrauma, atelectrauma, and biotrauma.📚 Evidence-Based Practice: ARDSNet and subsequent trials confirm that lung-protective ventilation—low Vt, limited pressures, and individualized PEEP—improves survival in ARDS. Click here for Direct Download of the Podcast. 📝 Introduction This episode reviews essential ventilator pressures and how to interpret them during ICU rounds. 🚀 Under Pressure Peak Inspiratory Pressure (PIP)Definition: Total pressure required to deliver a breath.Reflects: Airway resistance + lung/chest wall compliance.Common Causes of ↑ PIP:Mucus pluggingBiting the endotracheal tubeKinked tubing or bronchospasmPlateau Pressure (Pplat)Definition: Alveolar pressure measured after an inspiratory hold.Reflects: Lung compliance (stiffness of lung tissue). When Both PIP & Pplat Are Elevated:→ Indicates poor compliance (e.g., ARDS, pulmonary edema, pneumothorax).Positive End-Expiratory Pressure (PEEP)Definition: Pressure remaining in airways at end-expiration to prevent alveolar collapse.Typical Range: 5–8 cmH₂O but needs to titrated to meet patient requirements Notes:Provides physiologic “glottic” PEEP in intubated patients.Using high PEEP strategy shows mortality benefit only in moderate–severe ARDS in meta-analysis.Driving Pressure (ΔP)Definition: ΔP = Pplat − PEEP.Reflects: Pressure needed to keep alveoli open during the respiratory cycle.Goal: Lower ΔP → less atelectrauma & improved outcomes.Optimize: Increase PEEP to reduce ΔP and alveolar cycling. 📖 Interpreting High PIP/High Pplat ↑ PIP & ↑ PplatInterpretation: ↓ ComplianceCommon Causes: ARDS, pulmonary edema, pleural effusion, pneumothorax↑ PIP & Normal/Low PplatInterpretation: ↑ Airway ResistanceCommon Causes: Mucus plug, bronchospasm, tube obstruction or biting 🤕 Ventilator-Associated Lung Injury (VILI) Barotrauma:Mechanism: Excessive airway pressure damages alveoli.Prevention: Keep Pplat < 30 cmH₂O.Volutrauma:Mechanism: Overdistension from excessive tidal volumes.Prevention: Use low tidal volume ventilation (6 mL/kg ideal body weight).ARDSNet trial: 6 mL/kg → lower mortality compared to 12 mL/kg.Ideal Body Weight: Based on height and sex, not actual weight.Typical patient: Tidal Volume: 6–8 mL/kg IBWARDS: Tidal Volume: 4–6 mL/kg IBWAtelectrauma:Mechanism: Repeated opening/collapse of unstable alveoli.Prevention: Optimize PEEP to keep alveoli open and reduce driving pressure.Biotrauma:Mechanism: Inflammatory cascade (↑ IL-6, TNF-α) from mechanical injury.Effect: Can trigger systemic inflammation & multiorgan dysfunction.Prevention: Minimize all other forms of VILI. AI Made Simple is more than just a theme—it's a mindset. As artificial intelligence continues to accelerate, there's a widening gap between those who feel empowered by the tools and those who feel left behind. For Joel Comm, the bestselling author, entrepreneur, and host of The AI for Everyone Show, that gap represents an opportunity. His mission is straightforward: to take away the fear, the jargon, and the hype, and replace them with confidence, curiosity, and practical action. When Ford and Joel sat down to talk, one thing was clear: both share a commitment to keeping AI approachable. Ford has been guiding audiences worldwide on how to adopt AI with a results-first approach, while Joel has been tailoring short, bite-sized lessons that show how anyone—regardless of background—can engage with artificial intelligence. Together, their perspectives reinforce why AI Made Simple isn't just a slogan, but a necessity. Joel has built his career on helping people adapt to new technology. From the early days of the internet to the rise of social media, live video, and even cryptocurrency, he has consistently found ways to translate complexity into opportunity. His new focus on AI is no different. Through his podcast, he breaks down topics into five- to ten-minute sessions, designed not to overwhelm but to empower. Whether it's turning a sketch into a polished piece of art or experimenting with voice and video tools, Joel's approach keeps AI Made Simple by spotlighting real-world applications that anyone can try. Ford echoed that same philosophy, emphasizing that the most important step is to focus on outcomes. It's not about knowing every tool or understanding every technical detail—it's about asking, "How can AI help me solve this problem, save this time, or improve this experience?" By framing AI as a tool rather than a mystery, both Joel and Ford remind us that it's meant to serve people, not intimidate them. What makes this conversation especially relevant is Joel's attention to an often-overlooked audience: adults who may feel disconnected from the rapid pace of technological change. By keeping his content light, practical, and even playful, he shows that innovation isn't reserved for the young or the hyper-technical. It's for anyone willing to stay curious. As Joel pointed out, technology is neither good nor bad—it's what we do with it that defines the outcome. Ford brought his own perspective from the business growth arena, warning that waiting too long to engage with AI is the real risk. The tools are here to stay, and those who hesitate could quickly fall behind. That's why the concept of AI Made Simple resonates so strongly: it offers a path forward that feels manageable, whether you're running a business, working within an organization, or simply exploring what's possible in your personal life. Both agree that the human element remains central. AI can generate, automate, and accelerate, but it cannot replace judgment, creativity, and authenticity. Keeping the "human in the loop" is what ensures AI enhances rather than erodes the quality of our work and relationships. The takeaway is clear: AI doesn't have to be overwhelming. By adopting a mindset of experimentation and curiosity, anyone can begin to integrate artificial intelligence into their life or business. And by following voices like Joel Comm and Ford Saeks, the journey toward AI Made Simple becomes not just accessible, but inspiring. Watch the full episode on YouTube. Working and Breastfeeding Made Simple? Nancy and Barbara discuss this important topic and how their new book group, Working and Breastfeeding Made Simple, can help make you an expert on this topic. Here are just five topics that will be covered in depth during the book group! Yes, it is possible to support working parents in achieving their infant feeding goals. Several critical factors for supporting breastfeeding/chestfeeding among employed parents have been identified in the literature and clinical practice. Despite the dire statistics, families in Barbara’s private practice actually do well. None of them discontinued breastfeeding during the first month of returning to work. Providing accurate information about how breast milk supply works and how to express breast milk, along with social and emotional support, appeared to help clients maintain breastfeeding despite occasional difficulties. Here are five critical factors that help families meet their breastfeeding goals. 1. Breastfeeding Is Going Well Before Returning to Work One critical factor for success is having the parent be good at breastfeeding before they return to work. It is well established that breastfeeding becomes less labor-intensive (and generally easier) for most mothers at approximately 6–7 weeks (Mohrbacher & Kendall-Tackett, 2010). If breastfeeding isn't going well or a mother goes back to work before 6–7 weeks, she is more likely to be unsuccessful with this transition. If a mother is struggling with pain, has a baby who doesn't feed well at the breast, or her milk supply is low when she returns to work, she is doubly challenged from the get-go! Providing a plan to address these issues along with hope, accurate information, and support can help mothers continue breastfeeding even as they return to work. 2. Support From an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant The support and information that an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) can provide are critical for success. Many parents don't have anyone in their lives who understands or cares about why they are even trying to continue to breastfeed and work. IBCLCs do care. They want them to achieve their breastfeeding/chestfeeding goals. Together, IBCLCs can help improve the low statistics on working and breastfeeding success. 3. Success at Milk Removals Another critical factor for success is how effectively the parent expresses their milk when separated from their baby. Most clients use a standard, personal-use, double-electric breast pump. However, not all pumps are created equal. Some work well, and some don't work as well. Using a pump with adequate vacuum, different-sized breast shields (as necessary), and variable speeds will increase her chances of success. At the same time, if a pump has all these things and they is still not getting out their milk, IBCLCs have to get creative. Perhaps they need to try a different pump brand, rent a hospital-grade pump, use a hand pump, or hand express. Watching a parent pump is essential. Test the vacuum. Make sure their shields fit well. Many families are unaware that different-sized breast shields even exist. Positive associations to help them “Feel the Love” for their pump. Without an oxytocin release, parents are trying to pull the breast milk out of their bodies. With an oxytocin release, they are working in sync with their body. Their body is pushing the milk out of their breasts. This is much more effective. If the parent is having trouble “feeling the love,” suggest warm compresses, warm breast shields (Kent, Geddes, Hepworth, & Hartmann, 2011), and/or massage before pumping (Bolman & Witt, 2013; Bowles, 2011). They can also use “hands-on” pumping techniques to help get the breast if the milk is flowing (Morton, n.d.). Additionally, hand expression for a minute or two on each breast after pumping can support milk production (Morton et al., 2012). Some mothers find that visualizing their baby or their milk flowing helps. Others find that playing Candy Crush helps! There are some hypno-pumping visualization MP4 products out there. Have them practice pumping while getting a massage, eating chocolate, or watching their favorite comedy. It's straight classical conditioning. Pair a condition with a response (think Pavlov's dog). Clients can help train their bodies to have an oxytocin surge in response to their pumps. If a mother is having difficulties with her milk production, encourage her to blame her pump for lack of breast milk, not her body! If breast milk is not being removed effectively while she is separated from her baby, her supply will go down. 4. Supportive Child Care Working and breastfeeding success can also be at risk if the family's child care provider does not value breast milk or the breastfeeding relationship with the baby. Overfeeding the baby while the parent is away is a common problem. The child care provider needs to understand that not all crying or fussiness is about food. They also need to know how to care for expressed breast/chest milk and how to bottle-feed a baby in a breastfeeding-friendly manner by pacing the bottle feed. It is now recommended that all infants be fed in this manner, not just breastfed infants, even when there is breast milk in the bottle. Pacing the feed helps the baby control his or her intake and prevents overeating, which may help prevent obesity in later life. 5. Avoid Overfeeding at Child Care The final stumbling block concerns overfeeding and subsequent reduced breastfeeding when families are reunited. When a baby has been overfed at child care, not only is it almost impossible to keep providing enough pumped breast milk for the baby, but the baby also doesn't need to breastfeed as often from mom when they get back together. It is as if the baby is saying, “No thanks; I'm good! I had all my needed calories for day from my caregiver.” This does not hold true for all babies, but it does for many. Additionally, being away from one’s mother can be stressful and tiring. Babies can sometimes sleep longer at night because of this. Between not needing to nurse because of the calorie overload during child care and sleeping longer at night, mothers can end up breastfeeding far less than they were before returning to work. Suggesting that mothers pump before going to bed if their baby is scheduled to sleep at 8:00 p.m. and will not feed much during the night can help. This strategy appears to help improve their breast milk supply. Summary In Barbara’s clinical practice, she has found that these five factors can undermine a parent's ability to continue breastfeeding/chestfeeding after they return to work. Again, breastfeeding not working well, the lack of information and support, milk removals not working well, lack of paced bottle feeding, and a parent's daily milk removals reducing over time are the most common culprits that have been found to sabotage a mother's success in meeting her breastfeeding goals when returning to work. Providing information about these issues may help families anticipate problems before they arise, or at least help them quickly identify when they are moving down a slippery slope, and can significantly increase their odds of having the breastfeeding/chestfeeding relationship they dreamed of before returning to work. professorjrod@gmail.comIn this episode of Technology Tap: CompTIA Study Guide, we dive deep into cloud security fundamentals, perfect for those preparing for the CompTIA Security+ exam. Join our study group as we explore the shifting security landscape from locked server rooms to identity-based perimeters and data distributed across regions. This practical, Security+-ready guide connects architecture choices to real risks and concrete defenses, offering valuable IT certification tips and tech exam prep strategies. Whether you're focused on your CompTIA exam or looking to enhance your IT skills development, this episode provides essential insights to help you succeed in technology education and advance your career. We start by grounding the why: elasticity, pay-per-use costs, and resilience pushed organizations toward public, private, community, and hybrid clouds. From there, we map service models—SaaS, PaaS, IaaS, and XaaS—and the responsibilities each one assigns. You'll hear how thin clients reduce device risk, why a transit gateway can become a blast radius, and where serverless trims surface area while complicating visibility. Misunderstanding the shared responsibility model remains the leading cause of breaches, so we spell out exactly what providers secure and what you must own.Identity becomes the new perimeter, so we detail IAM guardrails: least privilege, no shared admins, MFA on every privileged account, short-lived credentials, and continuous auditing. We cover encryption in all three states with AES-256, TLS 1.3, HSMs, and customer-managed keys, then add CASB for SaaS control and SASE to bring ZTNA, FWaaS, and DLP to the edge where users actually work. Virtualization and containers deliver speed and density but expand the attack surface: VM escapes, snapshot theft, and poisoned images require hardened hypervisors, signed artifacts, private registries, secret management, and runtime policy. Hybrid and multi-cloud introduce inconsistent IAM and fragmented logging—centralized identity, unified SIEM, CSPM, and infrastructure-as-code guardrails bring discipline back.We wrap with the patterns attackers exploit—public storage exposure, stolen API keys, unencrypted backups, and supply chain compromises—and the operating principles that stop them: zero trust, verification over assumption, and automation that responds at machine speed. Stick around for four rapid Security+ practice questions to test your skills and cement the concepts. If this helped you study or sharpen your cloud strategy, follow and subscribe, share it with a teammate, and leave a quick review telling us which control you'll deploy first.Support the showArt By Sarah/DesmondMusic by Joakim KarudLittle chacha ProductionsJuan Rodriguez can be reached atTikTok @ProfessorJrodProfessorJRod@gmail.com@Prof_JRodInstagram ProfessorJRod
