Jim discusses his upbringing in the restaurant / diner business, and how he used a twenty thousand dollar investment to start his first solo venture. Along the way Jim owned and sold multiple restaurants, a night club, running shoe store and dabbled in Bay Area real estate. He lost it all in 2008, but has recovered stronger than ever.

Patrick Brown is a Ph.D. climate scientist and an assistant professor in the Department of Meteorology & Climate Science at San Jose State University where he teaches and conducts research on weather and climate and their interactions with society. He holds a Ph.D. from Duke University in Earth and Ocean Sciences, a Master's degree from the department he is now a faculty member in, and a Bachelors's degree from the University of Wisconsin – Madison in Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences. He has also conducted research at the Carnegie Institution at Stanford University, NASA JPL at Caltech, NASA Langley in Virginia, NASA Goddard in Washington DC, and NOAA's GFDL at Princeton University. He has published peer-reviewed papers in Nature, PNAS, Nature Climate Change, as well as many other journals and his research has been highlighted in The Washington Post, Newsweek, The Huffington Post, The BBC and The Guardian among other places.
