A can't-miss conversation between World-Herald staff writers covering the week's top Husker football topics.
The Pick Six Podcast is an excellent podcast that provides in-depth news and analysis of Husker sports. As a first-time listener and subscriber on 8/3, I was immediately impressed with the content and the discussions that took place. Having listened to many football podcasts before, my initial impression of this pod was great. I have been a reader and listener of Sam's work and have always enjoyed it, so I knew this podcast would be no different. With the LJS crew being a disappointment, I decided to go with the pros, and Sam McKewon definitely stands out as one. His expertise is evident as he consistently delivers insightful analysis week after week.
One aspect that stands out about The Pick Six Podcast is the quality of analysis provided by each reporter. Each reporter brings a differing opinion and experience level when it comes to football content, making it easier for listeners like me to stick around. Additionally, I appreciate the fact that they are critical but fair in their analysis. While these guys love Nebraska and Nebraska Football, they prioritize being sports journalists first.
Living in Portland OR, I greatly appreciate being able to get good information about my team through this podcast. It allows me to stay informed even though I may not have access to local coverage.
However, one downside of this podcast is that the first 20 minutes are usually filled with irrelevant small talk, bad jokes, and odd tie-ins to their sponsor. While some banter can be entertaining, it can become tiresome if it takes up too much time at the start of each episode.
In conclusion, The Pick Six Podcast is my favorite podcast to listen to right now because it offers fantastic insight into the Nebraska Cornhuskers while also delving into wider topics such as culture and leadership in sports. If you want intelligent and insightful analysis that goes beyond just football knowledge, this is the perfect podcast for you.
