The latest Five Heart Podcast opens with playful banter between Greg and Minnie about titles, equality, and co-hosting duties. Chat participation quickly heats up, leading to jokes and light teasing. The tone stays humorous and conversational throughout. Minnie discusses her recent trip to the UCLA game, describing the Rose Bowl atmosphere and the overwhelming presence of Husker fans. Greg and Minnie agree that Nebraska's 28–21 win showcased strong game-planning, especially for freshman quarterback TJ Lateef, whose dual-threat mobility helped compensate for offensive-line struggles. They highlight the standout performance of running back Emmett Johnson, praising his elusiveness, durability, and Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week honors. The discussion turns to injuries, offensive line development, youth on the roster, and how Nebraska's success might impact player futures—particularly Emmett Johnson's NFL prospects and the quarterback situation with Dylan Raiola and Lateef. The hosts touch on UCLA's football situation, Big Ten Media Days, NIL influence, and Matt Rhule's growing media presence. They close with predictions, jokes, gratitude toward supporters, and the show's signature sign-off: “Five Heart is all the heart you need. Go Big Red.”
In the latest episode of the Pick Six Podcast, Sam McKewon and Evan Bland recap Nebraska's win over UCLA and discuss how the Huskers can assess what they need out of the transfer portal.
We've reached Nebraska's final bye week with quite a buzz around freshman QB TJ Lateef's performance vs. UCLA…looking back at that game, what stood out most to you from Lateef? Matt Rhule is making a push for Emmett Johnson to be in Heisman Trophy consideration…he probably won't get that, but can he beat out Jeremiyah Love for the Doak Walker Award or first-team All-American? What seems like the most likely bowl game for Nebraska at this point? Is there one you personally prefer of the options? Minnie and Fred's latest Monday Night Therapy episode was lighthearted and celebratory after Nebraska's 28–21 win over UCLA. They began joking about Willie the dog, wine at the Rose Bowl, and the high drink prices, before turning to football talk. Minnie described the strong Husker crowd and UCLA's lackluster fans. The hosts praised quarterback TJ Lateef's poised debut—no sacks, no interceptions, and only two incompletions—while also commending Emmett Johnson's consistency and improvement, culminating in his Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week honor. They credited Matt Rhule's game plan, which simplified the offense and boosted tempo, giving the offensive line a rare “A” performance. Fred and Minnie debated how this new success compares to Dylan Raiola's struggles, ultimately agreeing that Raiola remains an important leader and recruiter for the program. The conversation shifted to Nebraska's development culture, NIL realities, and upcoming challenges against Penn State, which they expect to be a much tougher test. They closed with humor about fan traditions, beer sales, and the resilience of Husker Nation. The show's tone mixed celebration, caution, and camaraderie, capturing both the optimism and realism of Nebraska's fan base.
The Monday post-UCLA edition of the Husker247 Daily looks at the performances of quarterback TJ Lateef and running back Emmett Johnson in the win over UCLA. What did Nebraska ask of Lateef in the game? How much higher can Johnson climb in the national conversation after showing All-America-type numbers so far this season? That felt good. Yes, things got a little uncomfortable late in the 4th quarter, but Nebraska never trailed in a game they led 28-7 and held on to win at the end…thanks to a nice offensive series to finish off the game with the lead Emmett Johnson's All-American portfolio grew stronger with another big game—29 rushes for 129 yards and a TD; and 3 receptions for 103 yards and 2 TDs. An incredible individual season continues on, and how about the performance of Lateef? This week on Corn Nation Overreaction, Greg, Hoss, and Jake discuss Nebraska's win over the UCLA Bruins at one of the most hallowed stadiums in all of college football, the Rose Bowl. The Huskers led bell to bell and, get this, actually scored a touchdown in the third quarter. It would prove to be the game-winning score as the hard-charging Bruins kept the pressure on late. But a defensive stop allowed true freshman TJ Lateef to finish the game in football's most coveted formation, the Victory Formation. Emmett Johnson had a game like few others, and apparently like no Husker running back ever. The fourth-year player became the first Husker to run for over 100 yards and have over 100 yards receiving. He even struck "the pose" after one of his three touchdowns. The Huskers are 7-3 headed into the bye week. It's a great time to be alive! Go Big Red!
Travis Justice and Dr. Rob Zatechka are back in the basement; beers cracked, mics hot, and takes even hotter after Nebraska's 28–21 win over UCLA. Travis plants a flag: TJ Lateef is the better fit for Dana Holgerson's offense than Dylan Raiola. Rob parses the nuance: different QBs, different slices of the playbook—but against UCLA, Lateef looked composed and decisive, starting 11-for-11 and finishing 13-of-15 for 205 yards and 3 TDs, plus the legs to punish a defense (31 rushing yards) when the second read wasn't there. Clean sheet, too: no turnovers, minimal penalties, and the offense stayed on schedule. The spotlight swings to Emmett Johnson, who just made himself some money: 28 carries for 129 and 103 receiving—the first Husker RB ever to hit 100/100 in a single game. The NFL loves backs who can block and catch; does Johnson jump now, chase NIL for one more season, or both? The portal/NIL realities get the full Doc Talk treatment, including how backup market value changes overnight and why some players know their next stop before they even hit the portal. Defense? The numbers say “solid,” the eyes say “still leaky.” UCLA went 8-for-14 on third down and hit a couple of chunky scrambles when the contain broke. The pass rush flashed, but Rob wants a few more of those get-off-the-field moments—turn two or three conversions into stops, and the whole night feels different. Beyond football, the guys hit Husker Wrestling—packed house vibes, Mark Manning's machine, and the AJ Ferrari showmanship question (Cal State Bakersfield version, please). Since the Huskers aren't playing next week, make plans for Saturday night! Producer Owen Justice is gigging Saturday at Reverb Lounge, opening for Ben Chapman (buy one, get one tickets—support local music!). Shoutout to Doug at Kros Strain for a clutch case drop—yes, the Cornhusker Crusher (Herbie on the can, the “correct” Herbie) makes an appearance, along with a surprisingly sippable morning “breakfast” lager—Inflatable Snowman with cranberry and cinnamon. The guys also riff on stadium beer lines and why UNL's grab-and-go needs triple the pay stations if you want fans back in seats before the next series. A bye week is up next before Penn State and Iowa, but the pod rolls on. Hit subscribe, drop your takes below, and keep the beer recommendations (and care packages) coming. Jack and Josh recap Nebraska's seventh win of the season, a 28-21 win over UCLA. They start with the defensive side of the ball and Jack explains why he was never really worried about the Bruins comeback late in the game. Should John Butler put more pressure on the Bruins offense? How impressive was Nico? And what does it mean against the final two teams on Nebraska's schedule? Then, they dive into TJ Lateef's first start and try to figure out what was fact and fiction about his performance. Is it ok to think he could be the guy moving forward? How much better are Penn State and Iowa on defense? Why was he able to play so well? They finish the pod with a celebration of Emmett Johnson, some bowl game talk, and more!Want more podcasts like this? Cole Stukenholtz and Nate Rohr join forces to recap the latest volleyball sweep and compare them to other great players and teams past and present. The guys break down football's matchup with UCLA, including how Dana Holgorsen might use TJ Lateef in the run game and whether John Butler's Blackshirts can slow down the Bruins' rushing attack. Amie Just, columnist from the Lincoln Journal Star, hops on the phone live from Los Angeles to talk NU-UCLA, and whether it would benefit Husker volleyball to lose a set or match before the postseason. Finally, a quick check on Nebraska men's and women's basketball and their season openers. Plus, all four sports play on Saturday! GBR!!!
This week on the Five Heart Podcast, Greg and Minnie will recap the game last week against USC. Emmett Johnson's brilliant performance and the epic appearance of the Blackout were overshadowed by Dylan Raiola's season-ending injury and the offensive collapse that came with it. The Husker offense was rendered ineffectual in the second half, mustering just three points after the break. Freshman TJ Lateef struggled at times, but should settle into his new role now that he has a full week of preparation. In fact, Lateef's mobility could prove a useful wrinkle for defenses who have sold out to stop the run. TJ has a strong arm, but he needs to be unleashed. That means that Dana Holgorsen also needs to be unleashed. Let's see how Nebraska responds when they go to the Rose Bowl to face the Bruins. UCLA is 3-5 but has put some interesting notches in the win column. It's time to finish the season strong! Go Big Red!

This time around on Huskers Happy Hour, we contemplate a finish to the 2025 season without Dylan Raiola. The Blackout was a rousing success…except for not winning the game. After looking a little shaky when being tossed into the fire against Southern Cal, T.J. Lateef takes over at QB against UCLA in a Big 10 After Dark matchup in the Rose Bowl. The players have a mantra for it, but Emmett Johnson's explosion onto the national scene may be the best weapon for helping T.J.' find success. In any case, we have plenty to cover and may have a guest to give a rest from 100% of my voice. So pile in and fire up your comments. What do the Huskers have to do to avoid another LA sweep.

In this episode of Monday Night Therapy, Minnie and Fred discuss Nebraska's heartbreaking 21–17 loss to USC, focusing on Dylan Raiola's fibula fracture and its ripple effect. They condemn the “hip-drop tackle” that caused the injury and debate its legality, agreeing that the Huskers' offense faltered after Raiola went down. Minnie praises his toughness and leadership—he even tried to return before realizing the break's severity—and notes he'll have surgery but should recover in 10–12 weeks. The hosts recount the emotional “Blackout” atmosphere in Memorial Stadium, where fans unified behind the team despite the eventual loss. Fred and Minnie note how the injury disrupted Nebraska's rhythm and allowed USC to capitalize. They also discuss backup quarterback TJ Lateef, acknowledging his difficult position with limited reps but hoping his first full week of preparation will pay off. Beyond the game, they reflect on Nebraska's offensive line struggles, Matt Rhule's leadership and public persona, and fan expectations for the rest of the season. Minnie defends Rhule's long-term rebuilding approach and O-line coach Donovan Raiola, while Fred urges visible progress. The show closes with optimism for Lateef's debut against UCLA, praise for Emmett Johnson's breakout season, and faith that Nebraska's future remains “huge.”

Tap “Follow” so we're always in your queue, and leave a quick review to help more Husker fans find the show. This week, we start with the Saturday night roller coaster in Lincoln. Nebraska had USC on the ropes at halftime, and Travis was ready to declare it Matt Rhule's signature win… until the second half flipped. We dig into the turning points: Dylan Raiola's third-quarter exit, why Nebraska's run fits unraveled, and how a defense that held USC to 337 total yards still surrendered the game on the ground. Dr. Rob walks through the trenches: the interior getting knocked back, contain issues on the edge, and what that means in a Big Ten built on downhill football. Quarterback talk is unavoidable. Raiola isn't the problem — but does TJ Lateef's mobility unlock a different ceiling for this offense? We kick around what a full week of starter reps could look like for Lateef, what the receiver room needs to do to separate, and the difference between “better play-calling” and “good play-calling.” On the bright side: Emmett Johnson keeps carrying the load (29 carries, 165 yards in this one) and is tracking toward an All–Big Ten season. Then it's the stretch run: UCLA, Penn State, and Iowa. Which is the most winnable game — and why are the guys circling Penn State on the road? Rob resets expectations (seven wins feels like the realistic new baseline) and pinpoints the line play improvements from Evans at center and the one-and-done boost from Rocco Spindler — plus where tackle remains a concern. Would a dedicated tackles coach help? (Cue the Brian Ferentz-as-OL-coach debate and a few memes.) We also tackle the “blackout” conversation. Production value? A+. The look? Eerie and cool. But do alternate uniforms move the needle when you're not stacking wins? Travis argues it's a gimmick fans love but recruits don't care about in the NIL era — wins matter most. Agree or disagree, the crowd delivered. From there we zoom out to the national picture: the coaching carousel spinning, big-name jobs opening, and why stability in Lincoln still matters. Rhule's extension makes sense, but staff self-scouting has to be ruthless. Want to build sustainably? We go deep on recruiting philosophy with a Bill Bush-inspired segment: the #1 trait is competitiveness — grit — not just measurables. It's why some overlooked kids become program pillars while five-stars fade. That launches a lively sidebar on in-state QB recruiting (hello, Braylon Warren), relationship equity, and why you still offer your best local players even if the depth chart is crowded. We even sneak in some winning football: Augustana is 9-0 and sitting pretty in its super region despite injuries — Rob's rocking the powder-blue lid and explains DII regional calculus like a pro. Speaking of lids, we commiserate about $50 hats and why the right one is worth it. Shoutouts to the folks who keep this free for you: Orr Law Group — litigation, estate planning, NIL savvy and more. The more Gwinnett County detectives dug into Bart Corbin's life and history, the more convinced they were that the forty-year-old dentist wasn't just responsible for the death of his wife, but also for the death of his girlfriend nearly a decade and a half earlier. For two years Corbin denied any involvement in the deaths, insisting both women had killed themselves. Then, just days before his trial was to begin, he shocked everyone by pleading guilty to both murders in exchange for two life sentences with the possibility of parole after fifteen years.Thank you so much to David White for research assistance :)ReferencesAtlanta Journal Constitution. 2006. When Gwinnett County sheriff's officers responded to a call about a shooting at the home of Dr. Barton Corbin on the morning of December 4, 2004, they discovered the body of the doctor's wife, Jennifer Corbin, dead from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Within a few days, however, investigators learned some things about Bart Corbin that led them to believe that the thirty-three-year-old mother of two may not have taken her own life.
