Recorded: June 16th, 2025 Will Compton and Taylor Lewan bring the juice on this week's Bussin’ With The Boys. The guys are back with a packed episode and a killer sit-down with Vanderbilt quarterback Diego Pavia. Before Diego hops on, the boys chop it up about the newly-dropped Dad Combine vlog courtesy of Bussin' Legend, JP Hovey, how Father’s Day weekend went, and their reactions to what’s been going down in the NHL Stanley Cup Finals. There’s also some solid back-and-forth about Nebraska football coach Matt Rhule going viral this past weekend, Josh Pate throwing strays at the back of the bus, and a preview of Tight End U coming up. They even touch on Paul Craig's wild kick, some Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese chatter, and give a nod to birthday boy Mitch before we hop into the interview. Once Diego joins, it’s all uphill in the best way. The guy’s got a story — from being a legit wrestler back in the day to calling his own plays in-game and leading New Mexico State to a historic win over Auburn. He talks about being overlooked coming out of high school, how he made the most of his time at NMSU, and what it’s been like transitioning to college football in the SEC at Vanderbilt. Diego then tells the behind the scenes story of the Alabama game and what it was like to upset the #1 team in the nation. The convo dives into whether he thought about entering the transfer portal again, expectations for this season, and how much Jerry Kill meant to his journey. It’s the kind of interview that makes you root for the dude, plain and simple. Josh and Matt recap Louisville win, and make fun of Matt Rhule's point finger
On this episode of Monday Night Therapy, Greg sits in for a vacationing Minnie welcomes back fan favorite Hoss Reuter for a deep dive into Nebraska football's 2025 outlook. With just 73 days until kickoff in Kansas City, the conversation explores Matt Rhule's year-three trajectory, the state of the offensive line, and whether Dylan Raiola can evolve into the next elite Husker quarterback. Hoss shares insights from Nebraska's April coaching clinic and breaks down key position battles, praising the improved depth and veteran leadership up front. They analyze the 2024 schedule, painful losses like Indiana and UCLA, and upcoming tests against Michigan and Penn State. There's also candid discussion on former OC Marcus Satterfield, the hiring of Dana Holgorsen, and the return of the 3-3-5 defense under new DC John Butler. The duo debates Haarburg's role, the running back committee, and how Nebraska can reestablish a tough, Big Ten-worthy identity. Hoss also reflects on becoming a dad and shares offseason optimism—grounded, but hopeful—for a program still chasing its first conference title in over two decades. This is a can't-miss conversation for any diehard Husker fan! In this episode of Monday Night Therapy, host Minnie Hunt is joined by Pigskin PD (Peter Bartell) and law professor Adam Lamparello for an in-depth look at the NCAA House Settlement and its massive impact on the future of college football. The panel breaks down how the new system allows universities to pay up to $20.5 million annually to athletes, alongside NIL deals, and explores the legal, competitive, and Title IX ramifications. Adam explains why this structure may further widen the gap between powerhouse programs and smaller schools—sparking antitrust concerns and long legal battles. The conversation also dives into Nebraska football's identity, the importance of returning to its physical, trench-dominant style, and head coach Matt Rhule's efforts to rebuild the program. The group reflects on Nebraska legends like Tommy Frazier and Lawrence Phillips while discussing NIL's broader impact on player movement, recruiting, and competitive balance across college football. If you're passionate about Nebraska football history, college football NIL, or the changing landscape of the sport, this is an essential discussion. Plus, hear some fun memories about the 1869 Rutgers-Princeton game and Nebraska's storied quarterback legacy. #NebraskaFootball #CollegeFootballHistory #NIL #NCAASettlement #GoBigRed

The discussion also touches on current head coach Matt Rhule's commitment to student-athlete success, mirroring the philosophies of his predecessors. Hatchell expresses excitement about Ndamukong Suh's impending induction, further enriching Nebraska's legacy. Steve shares the NFF's mission and it's importance in helping preserve college football history and its scholarship programs for student-athletes. He emphasizes the importance of football as a life platform beyond the field. And shares captivating stories that focus on Nebraska's football culture. Austin asks for Robin's worst spot to do a radio hit, his excitement level for the return of Valentino's Pizza, press box etiquette, ranking the major NU sports offseasons, the potential of a quieter Matt Rhule this summer, and more
In this edition of the Peristyle Podcast hosts Ryan Abraham and Connor Morrissette (aka "Triple Double") are back in studio talking about the 2025 USC football schedule and how the early November trip to Lincoln could be the determining factor for the Trojans having a successful campaign. After finishing the regular season 6-6 in 2024 with no true Big Ten road victories, USC will try to take a huge step forward and be a real factor in the conference title race this season. To do so, the Trojans will need to grind out some tough victories on the road and we are circling that November 1 date against the Cornhuskers as the barometer game for USC. Looking at the way too early top-25 polls USC will face a few ranked teams on the road including Notre Dame, Oregon and Illinois and face off against Michigan at home. The post-spring SP+ rankings have Notre Dame at No. 6, Oregon at No. 7, Michigan at No. 10, Illinois at No. 19 then Iowa at No. 28 and Nebraska at No. 34 (with USC at No. 30). No other program on the Trojans schedule is in the SP+ top-50. Most sportsbooks currently have USC's over/under win total at 7.5, but barely surpassing that with an 8-4 record likely wouldn't be enough for Trojan fans to feel the season was a success. If we assume the pair of top-10 road games are losses, it doesn't leave much room for error for the Trojans to get to that 9-win mark. To have any chance of success USC will need to win its tough home games, so let's assume the Trojans go 2-1 with Michigan, Iowa and at Illinois. That leaves the November 1 game against Nebraska as the lynchpin to a successful season. The Huskers, like the Trojans, did a lot of work in the off-season to try and improve and some even feel Nebraska could make a run at the College Football Playoffs. USC got the better of Nebraska last season in the Coliseum, so Matt Rhule and company will be trying to return the favor when the Trojans come to town. In our opinion, both programs will desperately need that victory to take the next step towards conference respectability. CLICK HERE for 30% OFF an annual VIP membership to USCFootball.com! The Husker247 Podcast gathered on Thursday to get caught up on some of the May happenings with Nebraska football and the conversation surrounding it. The trio decided to discuss the toughest games for Nebraska in the forthcoming season with each of Michael Bruntz, Brian Christopherson and Mike Schaefer talking through their lists and order. Who is the most difficult game? Which games does everyone include? Which one was only included by one list? Then the three discussed Matt Rhule's placement on CBS Sports annual coaching list ranking, which really led to a discussion about PJ Fleck and the Minnesota Gophers program that no one knew they wanted. Finally some baseball and softball talk as both teams have huge games on Friday. Gary and Matt talk with Sipple about how things are looking around the football program and the “strangely approachable” Matt Rhule.
Rhule was on the Husker Sports Network on Tuesday and mentioned that the final 3 games of 2024 (win over Wisconsin, loss to Iowa, win over Boston College) was the turning point the program needed---probably to prove they could win in late season games which hasn't happened for a long time. He also talked about reaction to adversity being important and that teams like Notre Dame and Ohio State had crushing losses last year and still made it to the finals…Nebraska doesn't have to let one game ruin their season.
