The Husker247 HoopsCast convened for a quick rundown of the Huskers roster and some scheduling news for the 2025-26 season. The podcast started with Mike Schaefer and Brian Christopherson breaking down the commitment of Fridrik Leo Curtis and how the big man from Iceland fits for the immediate future and the long-term plan for Fred Hoiberg. From there the two discussed Nebraska's roster overall and how things are shaking out for the upcoming season. They also discussed big men in Nebraska's past and which ones have stood out over the last 30-40 years. Finally they talked about Nebraska's game in Sioux Falls and the games played in Kansas City as the team's non-conference schedule has taken shape. In the latest episode of Half-Court Press, Wilson Moore and Jon Walker discuss the latest in Nebraska and Creighton basketball, including CU's major announcement of hiring Alan Huss back as an assistant to be Greg McDermott's successor. The guys start the show breaking down how that move came to be, and why it's such a perfect fit for the future of the Bluejay program. Next, Wilson talks about Nebraska's addition to Fred Hoiberg's staff in Wyoming assistant Pat Monaghan, and what he brings to the table. Jon then gives his take on the Jays' latest portal pickup and why all of Creighton's depth shows the program is trying to spend and be all-in for McDermott's final seasons. The duo then dive into what each team wants to finalize its roster, with CU looking at a Howard transfer and Nebraska potentially leaving a spot open.
Connor FINALLY gets to praising Nebraska's portal pickups, seriously. It seems as though Fred Hoiberg is finally NOT going to rely on a single scorer and push the pace a bit. We're excited at that possibility in Lincoln.

We're back! After taking our first week off in a very long time, Greg and Minnie return to your Thursday night with a show that is sure to inform and entertain. Or at least one of those. You be the judge! In post-season play, there can only be a handful of teams that end their season with a win. Fred Hoiberg's Husker squad did just that, winning the inaugural College Basketball Crown with a 77-66 win over UCF on Sunday. While cynics will lament that it's not a significant tournament, I (Greg, FYI) choose to view it the same way we look at the football team's bowl game appearance this past season...more basketball to play means more practices, and more spotlight on the program. And in the days after Nebraska's win, with the transfer portal open, the Mayor welcomes several new and familiar faces to Lincoln. But sadly, the portal door swings both ways (seeing is Fred actually reads this) and Nebraska is no exception. It was announced ate Wednesday that Husker guard Nick Janowski was entering the portal, but earlier in the week, Nebraska wrestling fans were shocked to learn that 3 NCAA qualifier Lenny Pinto was entering the portal as well. That's a potentially huge loss for the squad that just finished second as a team at the NCAA tourney. And of course, what type of Husker show would we be without talking about football in April? From team dismissals (we Hardley new ye) to all of the latest happenings from Spring practice. I'll be honest (me again, Greg), I'm really out of the loop on everything that's gone on in Lincoln the last two weeks. So I'm as excited as you should be to learn and then instantly react based on pure emotion!
-On Tuesday, after Nebraska added Jamarques Lawrence back to the roster from the transfer portal, Jon Rothstein---who might just be a robot---listed the Huskers' potential starting 5 for next year and said that “Fred Hoiberg could have a potential bubble team lurking for 2026”…because we can NEVER have anything more than just scraping by. The Nebraska Way.-Also, it's Day 1 of The Masters…can Jake convince Sip and Bill to at least watch some of the action on Sunday?Show sponsored by SANDHILLS GLOBALOur Sponsors:* Check out Hims: https://hims.com/EARLYBREAKAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy
In the latest episode of Half-Court Press, Wilson Moore and Jon Walker discuss the latest news in Nebraska and Creighton basketball, including the Huskers' Crown title win and what both teams' transfers will bring to the table. The guys open with a look at NU's big week in Las Vegas and dive into the reasons why the Huskers played so well, and why winning the event was so important to its seniors. Next, the two talk about a whirlwind of a few days with plenty of portal action from both teams. Starting with Nebraska, Wilson gives a brief scouting report of each add and how they all seem to fit into what Fred Hoiberg wants his team's identity to be: solid 3-point shooters. Jon then breaks down what another Iowa player will provide for Creighton and talks about CU's other signees. The guys then have a conversation about what type of players both teams are looking for before the portal closes and run through what each side's projected rotation would be at this point. Finally, Jon ends the episode with a recap of a wild few days for Creighton volleyball, where he dispels some rumors and provides some clarity to the situation.

Sam McKewon gives us a weather report, an update on the in-state basketball schools, Fred Hoiberg's motivational tactics, who will be the leaders on the football team come fall, the Big Ten's push for playoff expansion, and more
BC shares his thoughts on Mike Ekeler coaching Nebraska's special teams and how Fred Hoiberg can keep Nebrasketball rolling.
In the latest episode of the Pick Six Podcast, Sam McKewon, Tom Shatel and Evan Bland break down Nebraska not holding a traditional spring game and if Matt Rhule paranoid or justified in saying tampering was a reason behind the change. The crew opens with Nebraska's announcement that the Huskers won't have a traditional spring game and Matt Rhule's comments that part of the decision came from the tampering that happens in college football. They talk whether there is tampering and the loss of the Nebraska tradition. The trio moves onto Nebraska hiring Mike Ekeler special teams coordinator and the shuffling of Matt Rhule's staff this offseason. Is this a Matt Rhule 2.0 staff? Does this free Rhule to take on more of a CEO, while coordinators become mini head coaches of their units. Matt Rhule said he aims to blend talent (big NIL players) with culture (walk-on sort of players) on Nebraska's 105-man roster. Is this feasible, and is it worth it? How do you do it during the revenue sharing era? John Cook has stepped down as Nebraska volleyball coach and his successor has been named former Husker and Louisville coach Dani Busboom Kelly. Was it a seamless transition? Is there a better fit — or more qualified — to take over the Husker program? The crew also talks the parallels to Tom Osborne and Frank Solich and Scott Frost, and why this was the perfect time for Cook to retire. Nebraska men's basketball was on a big losing streaking. Now the Huskers have beaten two straight ranked teams (Illinois and Oregon) and are back on the NCAA tournament bubble. They talk how Fred Hoiberg's Hail Mary (calling the Illinois game the Huskers' Super Bowl) changed Nebraska's course and how Brice Williams and Juwan Gary have had huge impacts on the team. What does Nebraska need to do to get off the bubble and into the NCAA tournament? The crew gives their Super Bowl predictions — will the Kansas City Chiefs three-peat? — and what it will take for each team to win.
Illinois basketball is in a precarious position entering the month of February, losing 4 of their last 6. The nadir of the season so far comes in Lincoln, Nebraska as Fred Hoiberg's Huskers never trailed en route to an 80-74 overtime win. Mike Carpenter reacts with plenty of frustration as the Illini played perhaps their sloppiest game yet, topped off by atrocious end-of-regulation coaching by Brad Underwood. It's enough to make any fan wonder where do they go from here?
-The Huskers entered as 4.5 point underdogs to the 18th-ranked Illini, and spirits were low with the fanbase based on the 6 losses in a row, which sparked Fred Hoiberg to say his team needed to find its identity again-Was that the case last night? Nebraska has been great at home but had lost back-to-back home games to Rutgers and USC coming in, and were past the point of “must wins” with where the season seems headed-Also, ROLL CALL (sponsored by Madsen's Bowling & Billiards): where are people listening from today?Show sponsored by SANDHILLS GLOBALAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

Do you still have faith in Fred Hoiberg?
In the latest episode of the Pick Six Podcast, Sam McKewon, Evan Bland and Tom Shatel break down Nebraska football's aggressive approach to the transfer portal and who may coach the Huskers' special teams in 2025. The crew opens with a discussion on Nebraska's aggressive approach to the transfer portal this offseason and who the Huskers have added and lost. They also talk the standouts from the portal throughout the years. They talk Nebraska's offseason overhaul of special teams and who may coach the Huskers' third unit. Will a name be coming soon? The crew talks how Nebraska can reach the goal that Ohio State and Notre Dame achieved this year: Playing for a national title. After a narrow loss to Iowa and a blowout one to Purdue, the crew discusses why this doesn't spell doom for the Nebraska men's basketball team's season. They also discuss the upsides to this year's Huskers and Fred Hoiberg's passion for the job. The close out with what Allison Weidner's third season-ending injury means for Nebraska women's basketball this season.
Is Nebrasketball for real? Could Minnesota be interested in Fred Hoiberg? Plus, what constitutes a “sweater game?”
