NFL junkie and amateur sports bettor Joe Blair share his unfiltered takes on the professional football league and how to bet it. From picking against the spread to finding the deepest of sleepers in fantasy sports, this is your show for no BS gambling cha
The wait is over and football is back baby! We have game picks to make and oh boy does it feel good. Jets vs Browns. Spread pick. Game total pick. Short and sweet. Let's start the season off the right way…winning!
One last rant before the big game. Felt like I had to address the nonsense that continues to pour out of the mouths of salty 49ers fans. We also recap some other Super Bowl storylines before closing with my favorite stats and trends I've come across this week. Let's Ramble.
Our final props show of Super Bowl week. We've got over/unders on individual player stats, anytime touchdown scorer predictions, and even some of those hard-to-find Super Bowl specials we're all hungry for this week. I even give out a +15000 single leg prop for the true psychos like me! Let's ramble.
Feed me all the Super Bowl props. With our exotic props covered in SGR #114, it's time to divert our attention to the game itself. So many options for how you want to bet this one. First play of the game: run or pass? Over/unders on team stats like rushing yards, sacks, time of possession, number of punts, or 4th down conversions. Which team will burn a timeout first? Will a non-QB throw a pass? We've got all this and some other long shots to get into and no time to waste. Let's ramble.
Part of what makes the Super Bowl so fun as a gambler is getting a chance to bet on all the crazy things that aren't available on your standard football game. Who wins the coin toss? How long will the National Anthem be? What color Gatorade will be dumped on the winning coach? What song will Rihanna open with at the Halftime Show? Yes, you can bet on all of this. I've scoured the deepest depths of the internet to find the craziest props and best prices out there for Super Bowl Sunday. Let's Ramble.
Our first episode of Super Bowl 57 content. In this one, I give my quick (and heartless) reaction to Conference Championship Sunday, before breaking down all the major stories and narratives surrounding the big showdown in Arizona. Andy Reid vs his former team, “The Kelce Bowl”, Mahomes vs Hurts in a battle of MVP finalists, & plenty more. PLUS, I tip my hand on one of my favorite early prop bets for Super Bowl Sunday in the final segment. Let's Ramble.
CHIEFS. BENGALS. EAGLES. NINERS. Only 4 teams remain on the road to Super Bowl 57. Mahomes and Burrow will put their legacies on the line against each other once more, while Hurts and Purdy meet for the first time in a battle of two absolutely loaded rosters. I give my official picks on the spreads, over/unders, and some bonus player props while we try to figure out who will punch their ticket to Arizona this Championship Sunday. Let's Ramble.
In the wildcard round this year we only saw two out of a potential six upsets come to fruition. But history tells us the Divisional round typically belongs to the dogs. Some big matchups and even bigger storylines this week to break down. Who advances to championship Sunday and who's season comes to a end this week? Let's figure it out. Let's ramble.
The playoffs are finally upon us. And while it's win or go home for the 12 teams playing football this weekend, I'm more concerned about who's covering the freakin' spread. 6 playoff games. 6 spread picks. Plus I give out a few bonus props throughout our game breakdowns. Let's get ready for WILDCARD WEEKEND. Let's ramble. This is a long one BUT an important one. I've got everything you need to know on all playoff clinching scenarios around the league, and how those playoff implications will effect team motivations & playtime decisions. Who needs one more win? And what teams are already looking ahead to 2023? We end the episode by going rapid fire through Week 18 (about 2 minutes on each matchup) and picking every spread for the final slate of the regular season. Don't miss this one! Let's ramble.
With just two weeks left in the regular season we have some massive playoff implications this week. Which teams will be motivated to win (and cover) on their way to a playoff push, and which teams will play spoiler down the final stretch of 2022? Best time of year to bet on Football. Let's ramble.
I know no one's particularly exited for this massive storm hitting the country (just in time to ruin your holiday travel plans). That said, bad weather can create some pretty dope opportunities in the betting market. In this episode I'll be discussing my favorite angles to play on this weekend (weather related or otherwise) while breaking down all 15 remaining NFL games of Week 16. The NFL decided to give us 3 extra TV games this week as an early holiday present, and it's got me in the giving spirit as well. GIVING WINNERS. 15 games to pick and no time to waste. Let's ramble. After a week off from recording, your boy is back and ready to breakdown all 13 remaining games for Week 7. We also react to the TNF matchup between the Saints and Cardinals AND of course the news of that blockbuster CMC trade we got late Thursday night. Let's ramble!
We're coming into Week 5 on fire! After a month of NFL football we are 35-16-2 on bets this season including 16-2-1 our last 19 (given out @sgrpod on IG). In Week 4 we went 11-4-1 against the spread and 10-6 over/under on game picks, and are hitting over 61% on the season. LETS STAY HOT FOR WEEK 5!!!
Coming off a 2-0 betting night in the Bengals/Dolphins game, we've got 15 more games to pick…including one in London. Let's finish the first month of the season strong!
This week in the NFL there are NINE home underdogs! Now we're left with the task of figuring out which ones we can trust. Let's ramble.
We started the season out ON FIRE. 12-4 against the spread. 13-3 on over/unders. 8-0 on official gambling picks given out on our IG page. Week 2 traditionally is a huge buy low/sell high spot for gamblers looking to capitalize on overreactions from Week 1, and I'll be doing just that with my picks this Sunday. Let's try and stay hot for the second week of the NFL season!
This is a special episode. Not only have we officially broken triple digits, but much more importantly…we're back to picking games! There are a ridiculous TEN HOME DOGS this weekend in the NFL. Now let's figure out who's gonna bark and who's gonna bite to start their season. HERE. WE. GO.
If someone told you they're a psychic, what's the first question you would ask to test them? For me, it's pretty easy. “WHO'S GONNA WIN THE SUPER BOWL???” Lucky for you guys, you don't need a psychic. You have me. We got 5 Super Bowl LVI futures to breakdown. Let's ramble.
After going 7-1 ON WIN TOTALS IN 2021, we've got another 8-pack for ya in 2022. These are always some of my favorite bets to talk about. Four overs. Four unders. 88% is gonna be tough to repeat, but I'm sure as shit gonna try. Let's ramble.
Baker Mayfield and Deshaun Watson. Where do I even begin with this one? No shortage of drama in The Land this summer. We start the episode with a quick rant about how the league has completely botched Watson's disciplinary procedures before diving into our usual team breakdown. The question is…with Watson suspended until Week 13, how will the QB situation effect this team's ability to win games and produce for fantasy? We'll do our best to answer all the tough questions surrounding the Browns in 2022.
After their recent streak of failed experiments at QB & a trade for ex-Cleveland Brown Baker Mayfield this summer, it's starting to look like the island of misfit quarterbacks down in Charlotte. 2022 looks like a make or break year for this team in more way than one. Head coach Matt Rhule's seat is getting hotter by the day as the favorite to be the first HC fired this season. Do the Panthers have what it takes to #KeepPounding, or is it time to start from scratch in Carolina?
2021 marked the end of an era in the ATL, as the franchise's all time leading passer seems to have played his final game in a falcons uniform. Now heading into their first season since 2007 without Matt Ryan, second year head coach Arthur Smith now must establish a new identity for this team going forward. A rebuild is never easy, and losing your best offensive weapon to a year long gambling suspension sure doesn't help. This team hasn't been given a chance by the odds makers entering the season, with the worst odds in the NFC to win the conference. Will vet QB Marcus Mariota be able to take advantage of his second (and perhaps final) opportunity to be a starter in this league, or are the dirty birds looking at more disappointment in 2022?
Seven weeks into last season this team was 5-3 and coming off a victory over divisional rivals Tom Brady & the Buccaneers. In that victory, however, starting QB Jameis Winston suffered a season ending knee injury. From there, the health and depth issues piled up fast, leading to this team finishing as the odd man out in the NFC playoff picture. Now heading into their first season in 15 years without Drew Brees or Sean Payton, is the window still open for New Orleans to compete in the NFC?
Between a 40 day retirement back in March and a near two week hiatus from training camp recently, Tom Brady seems to always give us something to talk about, doesn't he? Now that Tom is back with the team, hopefully we can start talking more football and less family vacation and reality TV rumors. While this team is still as loaded as ever, there's been quite a bit of shake up on the roster this offseason. As the favorites to win the NFC, can Tommy Touchdown get the Bucs back to the big dance one more time before he finally steps away from the game for good?
In 2021, Urban Meyer & his historically awful tenure as an NFL head coach earned the Jaguars the #1 overall pick in the draft for a second consecutive season. Now with a potential franchise QB looking to make a second year leap & a young pass rushing duo to anchor the D, can head coach (and Super Bowl LII legend) Doug Pederson get this train back on the tracks down in Duval?
The Deshaun Watson situation was one that loomed over this Texans organization like a dark storm cloud for a majority of the last year and a half. Despite the distractions, Davis Mills and this Houston squad showed more fight than I think most people expected over the course of the 2021 season. With Watson officially no longer their problem, will new head coach Lovie Smith be able to rally this underdog unit in 2022? Or did the sports books nail it when they gave this team the worst odds in the league to win Super Bowl LVII?
Needing to win just one game over the final two weeks of the regular season to clinch a playoff berth, Indy somehow found a way to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory down the stretch in 2021…including an all-time embarrassing Week 18 loss to a Jaguars team that finished 3-14. With Carson Wentz out and Matty Ice in, will a change under center provide the consistency this team needs to finish strong in 2022?
Plagued by injuries in 2021, Mike Vrabel somehow managed to guide this team to 12 wins and a #1 seed in the AFC. That said, it might take a repeat Coach of the Year performance to keep Tennessee positioned at the top of an improved division…especially after losing key pieces on both sides of the ball this summer. Can Tannehill and the Titans rebound from the heart crushing ending of this past season, or are we about to see a shift in powers in the AFC South?
For the last decade, Russell Wilson and Bobby Wagner have set the tone for this Seahawks team in every way. This is a franchise that prior to last year, hadn't finished below .500 since drafting the dynamic duo in 2012. Now heading into 2022, both franchise cornerstones are no longer wearing seafoam green. Although coaches around the league hate using this word, it's looking like Pete Carroll has a good old fashioned rebuild on his hands…and it's safe to say that whoever wins the QB battle will have some BIG shoes to fill.
After 2 NFC Championship appearances in 3 years & a 2019 Super Bowl loss, Head Coach Kyle Shanahan was faced with the difficult decision of making a change at quarterback. At the time, trading up in the 2020 draft to select North Dakota State's Trey Lance was a move that was highly scrutinized. That said, as it stands heading into the 2022 season, Jimmy G is out (kind of). There's still a lot to be proven, but it looks like we're finally going to get our answer on if San Fran's gamble will pay off.
It's Week 8 of the 2021 NFL season & you're a Cardinals fan. You're 7-0, the only remaining unbeaten team in the league. Kyler Murray is the MVP front runner. You're a 4 point favorite over the Packers, at home, on a short week, and they don't have DeVantae Adams. Life is good. Seems like a lifetime ago, doesn't it? After a 4-6 regular season collapse and a pathetic one-and-done playoff effort, there has been nothing but drama coming out of the desert this summer. With plenty of distractions to derail this team and star WR DeAndre Hopkins missing for their first 6 games, what will 2022 look like for Kyler and the Cards?
Had to get some things off my chest in this one. Before diving into the offseason breakdown and 2022 outlook for the defending champs, we spend some time taking a look back at those final few minutes of Super Bow 56 and a possible league wide conspiracy theory that should concern every NFL fan.
There's been a narrative over the last few years that this Broncos squad is just a quarterback away from being a serious contender in the AFC. After trading for franchise QB (and future professional motivational speaker) Russell Wilson, it looks like we may finally get our answer. Will the addition of Russ and a brand new coaching staff be enough to live up to the “Mile High” expectations in Denver? BRONCOS COUNTRY, LETS RIDE.
This Chargers offense lead by rising start Justin Herbert at QB was already a top 5 unit in 2021. However, a 30th ranked defense and poor situational execution has held this team back when it's mattered most. With the additions of studs like Khalil Mack and JC Jackson on that side of the ball, and a pretty loaded overall roster, can this team find the consistency they need to compete for an AFC West title or even make a deep playoff run?
The Raiders certainly made waves this summer by trading for Ex-Packers WR Devantae Adams. Adams also just happens to be the former college teammate and best friend of franchise QB Derek Carr. Now, with an upgraded offensive cast and new Head Coach Josh McDaniels calling the shots, can the silver and black continue to build off of last years playoff appearance? Or will the uphill battle that comes with playing in such a loaded division be too much for this team in 2022?
The Chiefs have dominated their division in recent memory, winning it in each of the last 6 seasons. However, stud WR Tyreek Hill no longer resides in KC, and all three divisional rivals have made MASSIVE upgrades this summer. Can Chiefs Kingdom extend their reign of supremacy in 2022, or is their a new champion waiting to be crowned in the AFC West?
The Ravens were a team plagued by terrible injury luck last year, which resulted in a last place finish in the AFC North for the first time in 14 seasons under Head Coach John Harbaugh. With the trading away of WR Marquise Brown and the ongoing health concerns in the backfield providing plenty of cause for concern…how will this squad and former league MVP Lamar Jackson bounce back in 2022?
As the standard for consistency in the NFL, the Steel City hasn't seen a losing season since 2003. However, with Big Ben retiring this spring there are quite a few unanswered questions on what this team looks like in 2022. With a QB battle heating up in training camp, will whoever wins the starting job be up to the task of keeping the black and gold on the winning side of things?
Last season, this Bengals team came out of absolutely nowhere to put the football world on notice, as they made an unexpected run towards an AFC Championship and Super Bowl appearance. Joe Burrow and Ja'Marr Chase have planted their flag as maybe the league's top passing connection, but will it be enough to fight off that always nasty Super Bowl hangover?
In their first year under the testosterone and caffeine fueled leadership of Motor City Dan Campbell, this team showed a lot of fight despite only winning 3 games. In 2022, will that grit and toughness translate into better results on the gridiron? This episode's got everything you could ever want to get prepared to watch the Lions on Hard Knocks this Summer!
In all my days of following the NFL, I'm not sure I've ever seen an organization do a worse job at supporting a young (potential) franchise quarterback. Justin Fields was drafted into a rough situation, and it didn't look to get much better this offseason. With the fouls stench of Matt Nagy finally being removed from that building, will a new coaching staff be enough to save the former Heisman finalists chances of survival in Chicago?
The final 2 years of the Mike Zimmer regiment have left a sour taste in the mouth of most Vikings fans recently. With a new General Manager and first year Head Coach Kevin O'Connell now in the building, does this team have what it takes to make it back to the playoffs and even challenge big brother Green Bay for the division? And are the sky high fantasy expectations for Justin Jefferson unrealistic or is he ready to take the league by storm? SKOL.
The Packers entered this offseason with some major decisions to make. After managing to get back into the good graces of their beloved QB and agreeing to an extension with Aaron Rodgers, this team shocked the world by trading away All Pro wide receiver Davante Adams. A-Rod now comes into this season possibly with more pressure than ever, and will have to find a way to stay at the top of the NFC without his former #1 weapon. Are The Pack up to the challenge?
With a brand new Head Coach and GM in the big Apple, the pressure is on QB Daniel Jones and RB Saquon Barkley to prove they're worthy of a second contract. This team had a pretty solid draft and invested in their offensive line quite a bit this spring, but will it be enough? Or is this offense looking at a full blown rebuild in 2023?
***NOTE: Please skip first 90 seconds due to audio issues*** Washington is a team that somehow always finds themselves in the headlines. And more often than not, it's got nothing to do with football unfortunately. Between congressional investigation of toxic work place culture and members of the coaching staff being asked to resign by the internet, there's never a dull moment in D.C….We do our best to keep it to football on this one but Dan Snyder certainly doesn't make it easy…. Big question is: Does trading for Carson Wentz give this organization the beacon of hope they so desperately need?
This time last year I released SGR #5 “The Great Philadelphia Eagles Rant” where I basically laid out everything that has been wrong with this organization post Super Bowl LII. Here we are going into the 2022 season and I'm back to betting on them to dominate the NFC East. Can Jalen Hurts take the step forward this team needs to catapult them into contender status? And is second year Head Coach Nick Sirianni still watering his plants every day? Let's talk birds.
It's almost become an annual tradition this time of year…when the geniuses at your typical mainstream media outlets all get together and decide to crown the Dallas Cowboys as your Super Bowl champions before a single snap of football is played. And yet somehow, this team has managed to win only 3 playoff games since the year 2000. Will this year be any different, or will we be given the gift of another classic Dallas choke job?
Only fitting the episode 69 happens to be our Jets preview after the latest rumors surrounding 2nd year QB Zach Wilson…will his performance off the field carry over to on-field success this season? Or is this struggling franchise and fan base doomed for even more disappointment?
This team has been BUSY this offseason. We saw a front office tanking scandal, a big splash head coaching signing, countless impact free agent acquisitions, and of course that BLOCKBUSTER Tyreek Hill trade that shocked the entire league! Can first year Head Coach Mike McDaniel provide the spark needed to take his 3rd year quarterback and this Dolphins team to the next level? Let's find out.
