On today's episode, Jason gets the party started with a quick though on the Los Angeles Lakers blowout victory over the Brooklyn Nets. Anthony Davis returned to the floor after 17 games away, but the big story to come out of this one was James Harden's visible frustration during and after the game. Maybe the Harden-to-Philly rumor isn't so farfetched after all. Later, our fearless leader tells us why he had a small problem with the BBWAA's decision to leave Barry Bonds and Roger Clemens out of the Hall of Fame. Yes, both guys have been linked to PEDs, but you just can't tell the story of baseball without mentioning their names. Period. On the NFL front, Jason says that Aaron Rodgers' latest comments suggesting that football fans were rooting for him to lose because of his vaccination stance proves that he's ready to embark on a Hero's Journey. Rodgers needs to leave Green Bay in order to become the best version of himself. Finally, former Pro Bowl safety and NBC Sports Bay Area analyst Donte Whitner swings by to explain why he's picking the San Francisco 49ers to beat the Los Angeles Rams in the NFC Championship game, how he expects the 49ers defense to attack Matthew Stafford, why he believes a Super Bowl appearance should be enough to help Jimmy Garoppolo keep his starting job for at least one more season, why he thinks his former coach Jim Harabaugh becoming the next head man of the Las Vegas Raiders would be a great thing for the NFL, and much more! In June 2021, the College Football Playoff committee announced that it was studying a potential expansion to 12 teams that could go into effect as soon as 2023. The news came as a total shock at the time, but there has been little progress toward that goal since then.So what issues are holding things up, and how will they get resolved?Marcus Hartman of the Dayton Daily News joins host Tom Orr to answer those questions and much more. - Can players really handle the physical demands of a 16 or even 17-game season?- How will the games be scheduled, and how will that impact the future of the bowl system?- Should the field be eight or 12 teams?- Which conferences, if any, should get automatic bids?Plus, what's the latest on Jim Harbaugh's potential move to the NFL? Has his Michigan program hit its ceiling? Should he take the Las Vegas Raiders' job if it's offered to him?

There is much to discuss on today's show as Jonah Booker drops by for his usual Friday visit. Is Ohio State's 2022 recruiting class -- which is ranked No. 4 in the country -- being overlooked to a certain degree? Also on the docket: * JBook calls a current Ohio State linebacker a "natural-born head-buster." Who is he talking about? * As a Las Vegas Raiders fan who is also of course an OSU fan, does JBook want Jim Harbaugh coaching the Raiders? Or would he prefer if Harbaugh stayed at Michigan? * What position group will be under the microscope the most for the Buckeyes this spring? * There is good news on the Omari Abor front. * Do the Buckeyes need to land a tight end in the portal? * What are thoughts on OSU's 2022 offensive line? What is JBook's confidence level of Paris Johnson Jr. as the Buckeyes' starting left tackle? All of that and more is coming your way on the Friday 5ish. Learn more about your ad choices. Today's word of the day is ‘knock' as a little love tap as a little smack on the helmet as in Buccaneers head coach Bruce Arians was fined $50K for smacking one of his players in the helmet. Arians said he was trying to get his player away from an Eagles player so he didn't do something dumb. It wasn't the best optics, but it wasn't the worst either. With everything that's happened with Antonio Brown this isn't great. Will the NFL fine stick for “conduct unbecoming of an NFL coach”? (8:45) So You Wanna Talk To Samson!? Someone asked me about the University of Michigan having to pay $490M to victims of sexual abuse, but will not be involved in distribution. They wanted to know if this was normal. (37:10) NPPOD. The Lakers stink. Absolutely stink. Blew a lead to the Pacers in the 4th quarter. Frank Vogel is still the coach. Russell Westbrook got benched. On today's episode, Jason kicks things off with a deep dive into the reports that Jim Harbaugh would entertain a head coaching offer from the Las Vegas Raiders. The calculus has changed in college football the past few years, and with the Raiders transitioning into an entirely new regime, the stars appear aligned for Harbaugh to make a move back to the NFL. Harbaugh would instantly become the face of the franchise, and the Raiders have a decent foundation to build upon. This could be a win-win for both parties. Later, professional sports bettor David Baker swings by to discuss how he fared in the famed SuperContest after bringing home the title in 2020, why he's inclined to throw down some money on Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers simply because he doesn't trust Matthew Stafford and the Los Angeles Rams, why the Kansas City Chiefs versus the Buffalo Bills is easily the best game of the weekend but the hardest to bet on, why he's waiting on an update on Jimmy Garoppolo before deciding how he wants to bet in the San Francisco 49ers-Green Bay Packers game, why he's going to continue riding the Tennessee Titans bandwagon until the wheels fall off, and much more! Ohio State made a bit of an under-the-radar move on Tuesday when they hired Matt Guerrieri as senior defensive advisor and analyst. And in our opinion, it was an excellent hiring. Guerrieri is leaving Duke where he was the co-defensive coordinator and safeties coach, and Matt Baxendell joins Dave Biddle to discuss that, plus: * A lot of Buckeye players have decided to return for the 2022 season which is obviously good news. * How do things look at defensive tackle for Ohio State in 2022? * Will Jim Harbaugh stay at Michigan or leave for the Las Vegas Raiders? * Will Omari Abor definitely sign with Ohio State in exactly two weeks? The Cincinnati Reds can be a winning ball club in 2022, if they do four things. Jeff tells you what the four things are while Steve pokes holes in his plan on today's podcast. They also talk about the Bengals playoff victory (Jeff was there) and the Reds international signings over the past few days. There are four things, two players leaving and two being acquired, that can set the Reds up for success in 2022. The Reds should trade away Mike Moustakas and his large contract. The Reds should trade away Sonny Gray for a prospect ready to play in the Major Leagues this year, or next. The Reds should sign a closer. To finish out this simple plan, the Reds should sign a starting-caliber outfielder. The problems are, it won't be easy to trade Mike Moustakas, if impossible, for the Reds. It's too early for the Reds to trade Sonny Gray. The Reds front office will not pay for a closer, instead they will rely on waiver claim pitchers and retreads to get them through the year. The Reds will not fork over the necessary money to sign a starting-caliber outfielder. The city of Cincinnati finally got its first taste of playoff success in more than two decades as the Cincinnati Bengals defeated the Las Vegas Raiders, and Jeff was there to see it. He briefly talks about that day in the final segment. He and Steve also look at a few of the Reds signings from the International Prospect Pool and what it all means for the franchise. *SUBSCRIBE* on YouTube and *FOLLOW* the podcast on your favorite app and on Twitter and Instagram @lockedonreds Also follow @jefffcarr on Twitter and @carrjefff on Instagram Call or text (513) 549-0159 Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors! PFF analysts Steve Palazzolo and Sam Monson discuss the rumblings that the Las Vegas Raiders, after firing their GM Mike Mayock, may be looking to make some additional changes – including letting go of quarterback Derek Carr. Carr has played well over the course of his career, but could he be enough to elevate a QB-needy roster?
A pathetic effort by the Arizona Cardinals against the Los Angeles Rams raises questions if Kliff Kingsbury is the right man to lead that football team going forward. What other needs do the Cards have in 2022? The Las Vegas Raiders are moving on from GM Mike Mayock, will Mark Davis make another splash hire for the Raiders? With the Bengals playing on Saturday, we moved our weekly release up a day as Cincinnati Bengals tight end C.J. Uzomah returns to In The Trenches with Dave Lapham presented by First Star Logistics to talk about the Bengals first playoff win in 31 years over the Las Vegas Raiders along with the play of Joey "Franchise" Burrow and the Bengals next playoff opponent the AFC's No.1 seeded Tennessee Titans led by head coach Mike Vrabel. Uzomah, who enjoyed another big game against the Raiders with six receptions for 64 yards and one touchdown in the Bengals 26-19 win didn't allow the win to go by without showing his respect for the Bengals past honoring the last Bengals tight end to win a playoff game, Rodney Holman during his post-game press conference.

The Arizona Cardinals drop their wildcard matchup against the division rival Los Angeles Rams in embarrassing fashion. Are the Cardinals headed in the right direction with head coach Kliff Kingsbury? Was it just a shaky performance with a first-time playoff quarterback? The Cardinals may have more questions than answers even as a talented young team following an early exit from the 2022 NFL playoffs. Mike Mayok is the next NFL GM out after being relieved of his duties from the Las Vegas Raiders. Was it the right move for the team? On today's episode, Jason kick things off with a deep dive into the San Francisco 49ers upset over the Dallas Cowboys in the Wild Card round of the NFL Playoffs. The Niners were in control for most of the game, but the big story to come out of this one was the Cowboys' peculiar decision to call a QB draw on the final play (without any timeouts) and the subsequent snafu involving the referee. Dallas never got a crack at the end zone to try and tie the game after that bizarre sequence. Whether it was Mike McCarthy or Kellen Moore who called the run, the face remains that Dak Prescott has to have more situational awareness. Moreover, it's hard to blame the officiating for what happened at the end when the Cowboys continuously shot themselves in the foot with dumb penalties throughout the game (and throughout the regular season). It was a terrible performance by all parties in involved, and it will be fascinating to see where Dallas goes from here. Later, Jason tells us why he's already laying down some big money on the Kansas City Chiefs to cover the spread and beat the Buffalo Bills in the Divisional round. Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen both put on absolute shows over the weekend - albeit against inferior competition - so it's a little surprising that our fearless leader was so quick to fire on the Chiefs. Plus, Producer Rob G swings by to pay homage to his beloved Las Vegas Raiders now that this season is officially over, and to tell us why he thinks that Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers were the least impressive team to win their Wild Card matchup. Finally, Jason closes the show with the Arizona Cardinals vs Los Angeles Rams Monday Night Football Playoff edition of the Best Bet. The Detroit Lions currently hold two first-round picks in the upcoming 2022 NFL Draft. One question Lions fans have is if Detroit should draft a QB in the upcoming NFL Draft. The Lion's offense struggled for the majority of the season before coming on late in the season. Is Jared Goff good enough to lead the Detroit Lions franchise moving forward or should they look to upgrade? Do the Lions even need to address the QB situation or should they spend their draft picks on other key positions? Matt Rhule in his first two seasons as the Head Coach of the Carolina Panthers so far has a record of 10-23. Carolina decided to bring Matt Rhule back for his third season following the Panther's 5-12 season. Many Panthers fans have been heavily critical of Matt Rhule's performance so far which leads to the question; Did the Carolina Panthers make a mistake bringing back Matt Rhule? Matt Rhule was signed to a 7-year deal back in 2020 following his successful tenure at Baylor and was tagged as a team builder. Can Matt Rhule and the Carolina Panthers find success next season? Matt Rhule has made several changes to his coaching staff including parting ways with OC Joe Brady during the season. Can Matt Rhule find the right OC to help improve the Panther's struggling offense? Will Matt Rhule be able to turn things around in Carolina or did the Panthers make a mistake bringing him back for another season? The Cincinnati Bengals defeated the Las Vegas Raiders 26-19 in the Wildcard Round of the NFL Playoffs. With the Bengal's win they advance to the Divisional Round of the playoffs where they will travel to take on the Tennessee Titans. Is it possible that Cincinnati could make a Super Bowl run? JT Sports thinks the Cincinnati Bengals are a better team than what people think and that they aren't that far away from the Bills, Chiefs, and Titans talent-wise. The Bengals have a good defense that has a great pass rush. Cincinnati also has an explosive offense led by star QB Joe Burrow with one of the best WR cores in the league and Pro Bowl RB Joe Mixon. Despite the explosive weapons on the Cincinnati offense, the play of their offensive line will be a huge factor in determining how far the Bengals can go in the playoffs and potentially the Super Bowl. Bill Belichick and New England were dominated by the Bills 47-17 in the Wildcard Round of the NFL Playoffs shocking many NFL fans. With the New England Patriots having an early-round exit some NFL fans feel that Bill Belichick has fallen out of touch with the current state of the NFL. Has the game finally caught up the Bill Belichick? Is Bill Belichick still the best coach in the NFL? Can Bill Belichick and the Patriots find success in the future or is the New England run finally done? --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/jtsports/support

Charles & Frank discuss it all. From Sunday's officiating controversy to Saturday's, the guys move onto the Cincinnati Bengals notching a desperately needed playoff win against the Las Vegas Raiders, perhaps thanks to an errant whistle blown during a Tyler Boyd touchdown. In the second half of the show, Charles & Frank talk about the three blowouts from the weekend, the Buffalo Bills embarrassing the division rival New England Patriots 47-17, the Kansas City Chiefs ending the Ben Roethlisberger era in Pittsburgh 42-21 & the Tampa Bay Buccaneers making easy work of the Philadelphia Eagles 31-15.Check out Charles & Frank on Twitter Spaces immediately following the Arizona Cardinals/Los Angeles Rams game on Monday night, January 17th.
