#bengals #cincinnatibengals #davelapham Cincinnati Bengals Defense Coordinator Lou Anarumo returns to In the Trenches with Dave Lapham, brought to you by First Star Logistics. Coach Anarumo and Lapham talk about the future of the Bengals defense following the losses of Von Bell and Jessie Bates in free agency and the recent signings of safety Nick Scott and cornerback Sydney Jones.    Anarumo is excited about the newest additions to the Bengals' defense, as Scott was a huge player for the Los Angeles Rams when they defeated the Bengals in Super Bowl LVI. Jones was a 2x All Pac 12 player and a projected first-round NFL Draft pick before suffering an injury before the draft that dropped him to the second round. Jones is a great depth piece at the cornerback position, and as Anarumo says in this exclusive one-on-one with Lapham, "you can never have enough capable corners."  Both players bring youth and less of an impact on the Bengals overall salary structure. As we inch closer to the draft, will the Bengals look to add more veteran help or draft heavy on the defensive side of the ball?

Former Cincinnati Bengals cornerback Louis Breeden knows what it's like to reach the Super Bowl during his career with the Bengals. Breeden is sold on how good the Bengals have been the past two seasons, reaching back-to-back AFC Championships and Super Bowl LVI. Breeden also knows the straw that stirs the Bengals is quarterback Joe Burrow. Breeden comes up from the secondary to jump In The Trenches with Dave Lapham, presented by First Star Logistics, to discuss the Bengals' recent success. Having to pay Burrow with a giant contract, moves to make in the secondary with Jessie Bates, Vonn Bell, Eli Apple, and Tre Flowers hitting free agency, and his thoughts on Cam Taylor-Britt and Dax Hill, both who will be playing more significant roles next season. Also discussed is losing coaches, as three Bengals assistant coaches are currently in the running for upgrades, with Lou Anarumo, a finalist for the Cardinals head coaching job, Brian Callahan, a finalist for the Colts head job, and Dan Pitcher, up for the offensive coordinator position in Tampa Bay. We also talk about Ken Riley hopefully taking his place at the NFL Hall of Fame. And before we let Louis go, we dug into Sunday's upcoming Super Bowl match-up between the Kansas City Chiefs and Philidelphia Eagles.  Who does Breeden see winning the game? Andrew Whitworth, also known as Big Whit, spent 16 seasons in the NFL as an offensive lineman – 11 of those years with the Cincinnati Bengals before going to the Los Angeles Rams. Despite being a 4-time Pro-bowler– Whitworth constantly found himself on the losing end of big games. When he finally made it to the Super Bowl with the Rams in 2019, the media narrative was that he was old then.. And this would probably be his last game. But the 13-3 loss to The New England Patriots just kept him going… so he could help the Rams win three years later. Big whit sat down with In The Moment's David Greene to re-live the moment he beat his old team to win Super Bowl LVI.

The season is upon us. J.B. Long said it best in the latest Rams post on social media “Defending champs cling to past glory, while reigning champs dictate the future”. How will the Rams respond to the "Super Bowl Hangover"? Well, we feel like big media is discrediting the Rams, solely based on their roster losses from last year. But when you dig into the detail and preview the match-ups, you start to wonder why there isn't the same kind of talk in Buffalo. With the Bills being the unanimous Super Bowl favorites - isn't the pressure now on them to win in the same house where the Rams live and won Super Bowl LVI? That remains to be seen, but there's plenty of reason why to like the Rams in this game. Nick's Picks also goes through the full slate, and picks out his winners (inclusive of NEW theme music).  Rams Brothers is brought to you by BUSR! Les Snead has spent nearly three decades in the National Football League, the past 10 as the General Manager of the St. Lous/Los Angeles Rams. Earlier this year he reached new heights in his professional career when the Rams won Super Bowl LVI, thanks in no small part to Snead's strategic personnel decisions, from acquiring a star quarterback to assessing which college players could make the grade in the NFL. On this episode Snead dives deep into assessing character, how to draft the right player, the complicated nature of trading players, how to build a team, hiring the right coach, why it's so important to be relentlessly curious, and so much more.   A native of football-crazed Eufaula, Alabama, Snead served as a graduate assistant at Auburn University before he spent 14 years as an NFL scout for the Jacksonville Jaguars and Atlanta Falcons. He became the Rams' GM in 2012 and over time built a reputation as an executive willing to make insightful draft picks as well as blockbuster trades, including his move to draft future Hall of Famer Aaron Donald in 2014 and to trade for superstars Von Miller and Matthew Stafford on the way to winning the Super Bowl in February. -- Want even more? Cincinnati Bengals quarterback coach Dan Pitcher returns to In The Trenches with Dave Lapham, presented by First Star Logistics, to talk about Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow. Coach Pitcher has been there for each step in Burrow's continued development since coming to the team as the No. 1 pick in the 2020 NFL Draft after his record-setting career at LSU. Despite missing time in his first season because of a significant injury, Burrow stepped forward last season as the team's leader on and off the field with a record-setting season leading the team to Super Bowl LVI. After 30 regular and playoff games, Burrow has posted a 15-14-1 record while passing for 8,404 yards and 52 touchdowns to go with a high completion percentage. With a revamped offensive line that saw the additions of tackle La'el Collins, center Ted Karras, and offensive guard Alex Cappa to go with one of the best triple threat receiving corps in Ja'marr Chase, Tee Higgins, and Tyler Boyd, to go with running back Joe Mixon, Pitcher knows things could get even better in Burrow's third season and the reason he's got total trust in his star quarterback.
