Despite winning Super Bowl LVI just a handful of months ago, the Rams will be home underdogs Week 1 to the Buffalo Bills. How can Sean McVay use that to the team's advantage? Plus, how weak of a link is that Rams secondary, and how much of it is being propped up by Jalen Ramsey? Also, training camp at UCI is just about a month away! Football is around the corner. Former Cincinnati Bengals safety Solomon Wilcots returns to In The Trenches with Dave Lapham presented by First Star Logistics in a two-part look at the Cincinnati Bengals following OTAs. We're just a few weeks away from the opening of training camp. While the Bengals will enter the 2022 season as a favorite to many, the path they took to become the AFC Champions and to Super Bowl LVI left several with a foul taste and marked the Bengals with a significant target on their backs when their paths cross again. In Part One, Wilcots and Lapham look at the struggles that could be facing the Bengals after their surprising success last season and more.
CINCINNATI -- The Cincinnati Bengals don't have a minicamp but their OTAs have raised the bar of expectations inside the organization after making Super Bowl LVI four months earlier. Mike Petraglia is joined by Geoff Hobson discuss how the Bengals are approaching OTAs and why the challenge of signing Jessie Bates and Joe Burrow long terms are the signs of problems of NFL teams with great talent, which are good problems to have.
In February, DeLorean Motor Company teased a comeback during Super Bowl LVI with a 15-second spot. But, in the spirit of teasing, it revealed very little. The commercial showed text that reads, “The future was never promised,” followed by a shot of a shadowy vehicle with gullwing doors. The ad closed with a link to a website. Just before Memorial Day, the company released a preview of its all-electric version of the vehicle known for its role in the Back to the Future trilogy. It's called the Alpha5 and it will premiere at Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance on August 18 and the Concept Lawn on August 21. Much like its Super Bowl ad, DeLorean is still leaning towards secrecy, only releasing a few concept images and key specs. The Alpha5 still sports the signature gullwing doors and rear window louvers. However, this version will be larger than those of the past, with a 196.6-inch length, an 80.4-inch width, a wheelbase of 90.5 inches and a closed-doors height of 53.9 inches. DeLorean estimates the Alpha5 will possess a range of some 300 miles and a battery pack of about 100 kWh (kilowatt-hours). The company also projects a top speed of 155 miles per hour and a 0-60 time of 2.99 seconds.
Director of Football Affairs for the Los Angeles Rams Jacques McClendon “Jacq” former NFL offensive lineman joins the Black in Sports Crew. Born in Cleveland to humble beginnings to championship glory. It is business as usual for Jacq as the LA Rams are coming off of wining Super Bowl LVI in their home stadium! Although there is nothing usual about how he personally and the Rams leadership operates which he mentions several times during our interview. “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” Nelson Mandela This is a quote that Mr. McClendon has refenced and also imbodies. His higher education didn't stop at Tennessee where he played college football. As a recent graduate from Brown add an ivy league degree to his resume Jacq is truly living out this quote. As an Offensive Lineman his job was making a lane for running backs & protecting the QB; he has taking that skill into new highest with his new venture. With several new faces on the Cincinnati Bengals defense from the NFL Draft and college free agency, defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo is tasked to put it all together to build a better defense than the one he guided last season that reached Super Bowl LVI. Coach Anarumo returned to In The Trenches with Dave Lapham, presented by First Star Logistics, to discuss the early progress of the Bengals' newest defensive players, Dax Hill, Cam Taylor-Britt, Zachary Carter, Tycen Anderson, and Jeffrey Gunter, along with a few faces fans may not know much about like Abu Daramy-Swaray, Tariqious Tisdale, and Carson Wells.

Dave Lapham In The Trenches, presented by First Star Logistics, welcomes Hilton to discuss the magical run made by the Bengals to Super Bowl LVI, the excitement of Lou Anarumo's winning defensive formula, and the response by the front office in attacking the teams most significant need coming out of last season with the signing of three high-level offensive linemen to protect quarterback Joe Burrow. While fans talk about the Cincinnati Bengals offense led by quarterback Joe Burrow, defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo's defense played a significant role in the team's AFC Championship and Super Bowl LVI appearance. While the Bengals spent heavily along the offensive side of the ball during free agency, the 2022 NFL Draft saw the first three selections all applied to the defensive side of the ball. Coach Anarumo jumped back In The Trenches with Dave Lapham, presented by First Star Logistics, to discuss the first three Bengals selected in the draft on Thursday and Friday night.
Cincinnati Bengals fans are excited as we count down the days until the 2022 NFL Draft with NFL analyst Chris Simms on Dave Lapham In The Trenches presented by First Star Logistics. We've already done an overall draft preview and looked at the wide receiver and tight end positions in our first position draft look. Watch here: We turn our attention to the most significant need coming off the Super Bowl LVI loss to the Rams, the offensive line. Yes, the Bengals addressed the need along the offensive line by signing three free agents. However, if the right player is available at the 31st pick, could Duke Tobin pull the trigger and take another offensive lineman? Who are the players Simms views as possible selections in the first three draft rounds in the trenches?
What does it take to put on an event like the Super Bowl? Darren Green, Chief Sales Officer for LA Tourism, joins Meetings Today to share how his team worked with L.A. hospitality partners and the NFL to host Super Bowl LVI and its surrounding events. We also discuss new developments in L.A. that meeting planners should know about and big events coming to town in the next few years.

Pro Football in the 1970s is part of the https://sportshistorynetwork.com/ (Sports History Network - The Headquarters For Your Favorite Sport's Yesteryear). This episode of Pro Football in the 1970s is dedicated to the late Frank Reading, who sadly passed away just before Super Bowl LVI. May he rest in God's eternal peace. EPISODE SUMMARY To say that the 1974 Pittsburgh Steelers had a quality offseason is an extreme understatement. Well, their front office management and coaching staff certainly had a quality offseason. They earned that designation for what they accomplished in the annual player draft and in their signing of free agents. The Steelers acquired five rookies during the 1974 offseason who would one day be honored with the ultimate professional football honor, that of enshrinement into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio. Dave Lapham In the Trenches, presented by First Star Logistics, continues our discussion with Cincinnati Bengals Director of Player Personnel Duke Tobin in Part Two as we start counting down to the NFL Draft that will be held at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas from April 28th until the final pick on April 30th. With success comes picks in the later parts of the draft and a great run to Super Bowl LVI has them waiting until the 31st overall selection in the first round of this year's draft. What philosophy and strategy will the Bengals use as they prepare for one of the biggest nights in the National Football League with fans glued to every move made by their team? Continue to listen as we dig deeper into this year's draft over the next few weeks.
The man responsible for everything the Cincinnati Bengals do for the 2022 NFL Draft returns to Dave Lapham In The Trenches, presented by First Star Logistics in this special two-part discussion with Bengals Director of Player Personnel, Duke Tobin. With their run to Super Bowl LVI, the Bengals find themselves in a territory they've not seen in a while with the No. 31 pick in the NFL Draft. Why does Duke Tobin feel the Bengals have already found success in this draft? Could the Bengals look to make a trade up or down with the 31st selection? How will the free-agent signings of Alex Cappa, Ted Karras, La'el Collins, and Hayden Hurst play into this year's draft? Be sure to look for Part Two of our discussion with Duke Tobin in the coming days.

Most online publishers and advertisers are accustomed to real-time analytics, the ability to see how many people are viewing a website or app at any moment, where they're coming from, generally who they are, and what they're doing on the site. But that concept was a novelty in TV advertising before a startup called iSpot.tv came along in 2012. The company, based in Bellevue, Wash., took the turnaround time for data about television ads from weeks and days to hours and minutes. A decade later, iSpot is a key partner and resource for major media platforms and advertisers. With more than 300 employees, the company has been growing organically and through acquisitions, it's increasingly becoming an alternative to industry stalwart Nielsen as a standard for audience measurement. Meanwhile, Nielsen announced this week that it will be acquired by a private equity firm for $16 billion. In the most recent example of the shift, NBCUniversal announced a multi-year agreement with iSpot to provide real-time audience measurement across platforms, starting with the 2022 Olympic Winter Games and Super Bowl LVI, and most recently for NBCUniversal's "upfront" negotiations with advertisers for the 2022-23 television season. The upfront news was announced iSpot tech chief Anthony Skinner during an NBCUniversal developers conference on the Saturday Night Live stage in March. He joins us on the GeekWire Podcast to talk about the underlying changes in how we're all watching TV and consuming content, and how analytics have evolved along the way. The company is a finalist in the category of Next Tech Titan in the 2022 GeekWire Awards, and Skinner was featured in a 2019 GeekWire Geek of the Week profile. In Dublin, California, Alex Cappa was a zero-star non-ranked project offensive lineman during his high school career. Only Humboldt State saw enough in Cappa to give some athletic scholarship money. While in college, Cappa worked to build up his frame and technique enough to earn an invitation to play in the Senior Bowl. Impressing scouts, Cappa went from a projected fifth-round pick to being selected in the third round (94th overall) of the 2018 NFL Draft by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Cappa appeared in six games as a rookie, then opened his second year in the league as a starter, quickly showing his toughness suffering a broken left arm against the New Orleans Saints, but did not miss a snap. In year three, Cappa would play a significant role in helping new Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady reach the playoffs, only to see his season end when he suffered a fractured ankle in the Buccaneers Wild Card game against Washington. While Cappa would miss playing in the Super Bowl, he was starting to earn a reputation as one of the top young offensive linemen in the NFL. After finishing his rookie contract, Cappa hit NFL free agency market with the Cincinnati Bengals and offensive line coach Frank Pollack looking to revamp an offensive line that struggled during the team run to Super Bowl LVI with what he described as "Glass Eaters." On March 18, 2022, Cappa signed a four-year, $35 million contract with the Bengals joining free agents Ted Karras (New England Patriots) and La'el Collins (Dallas Cowboys) to give Pollack a new center, right guard, and right tackle. Welcome, Alex Cappa, the Cincinnati Bengals' new "Glass Eater" as he goes In The Trenches with Dave Lapham, presented by First Star Logistics.
The free-agent signings of offensive linemen Alex Cappa and Ted Karras by the Cincinnati Bengals will immediately impact a team that reached Super Bowl LVI. The goal was simple for Bengals Director of Player Personnel Duke Tobin. Protect franchise quarterback Joe Burrow after watching the opposition sack him 70 times in 20 games last season. Cappa and Karras have ties to Tom Brady and proved their ability to help establish a front to protect Brady and help him win Super Bowls with the New England Patriots (Karras) and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (Cappa). Dave Lapham In The Trenches, presented by @FirstStarLogistics, gives his thoughts on both players and why they'll provide an instant impact on the success of the Bengals next season.
The Cincinnati Bengals entered the offseason following their appearance in Super Bowl LVI knowing they needed to make changes along the offensive line to protect quarterback Joe Burrow. At the very start of the NFL free agency period, the Bengals wasted little time in signing two proven offensive linemen in Alex Cappa (Tampa Bay) and Ted Karras (New England) to deals. Bengals offensive line coach Frank Pollack returns to In The Trenches with Dave Lapham presented by First Star Logistics to discuss both new linemen along with a quick look at tight end signee Hayden Hurst and more.
Former Cincinnati Bengals offensive lineman Andrew Whitworth returns to In The Trenches with Dave Lapham presented by First Star Logistics after an eventful week that has seen the standout offensive tackle announce his retirement from the NFL and the game of football. Whitworth talks more about his decision to hang up the cleats, his family, ending his career with a Super Bowl LVI win over the Bengals and earning the NFL Walter Payton Man of the Year Award. Also discussed is why players in the NFL will look to head to the Bengals because of quarterback Joe Burrow and the player (Derrick Barnes - Lions) he played against last season that he mentored while spending time at the Boys and Girls Club during his Bengals career. What is next for Whitworth? Could he be enticed to unretire if Sean McVay would call and say the Los Angels Rams needed him? Or, if released, and Zac Taylor called with Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals being in need? And more discussion about his time in Cincinnati and his overall football career.

Your favorite little podcast host is playing injured (sore throat) but I'm ready to slay the sports day as the universe starts to heat up and Episode #242 delivers just that. On deck: (4:58) I'll open with a brief discussion about my health, the end of the Sports Dead Zone, Part 1 and how we've turned the corner to indulge on a plethora of sports & topics that we can sink our teeth into. (8:15) Let the Madness begin! The NCAA Tournament will commence with the play-in games tomorrow and Wednesday night. Then we'll have the frenetic pace of Thursday, Friday and into the weekend as we'll be immersed in wall to wall college basketball throughout the week. I'll breakdown each bracket, share my Final Four teams and who'll be champion when it's all said and done. I also have a few words on my favorite college team (Georgetown) and how their historic losing season factors into their future with coach Patrick Ewing at the helm. (34:34) Baseball is finally back! I'll get into how this agreement was finally agreed upon, what the new rules are for 2022 and 2023? Some signings and trades that have taken place and what to expect for the top flight free agents (i.e. Freddie Freeman, Carlos Correa, Trevor Story) that are unsigned? (51:20) Super Bowl LVI concluded a month ago yesterday, but 'The Shield' is strong arming their way to the top of the sports news cycle. A lot has developed over the past week (i.e. Aaron Rodgers, Russell Wilson, Carson Wentz, Deshaun Watson, et. al) and then the bombshell of the unretirement of Tom Brady. I'll have plenty to say about all of the above, as well as, the free agency year commences on Wednesday to really set the offseason fireworks even higher than it has been. Plus, my thoughts on the egregious suspension handed down to Falcons WR Calvin Ridley for the 2022 season. And Joe Buck will reunite with Troy Aikman in the broadcast booth at ESPN. What does this mean for the Monday Night schedule? Also, who fills his big shoes at FOX when it comes to baseball? (1:13:29) The Brooklyn Nets are revving their engines for the final lap of this NBA season. They're on a little winning streak and there was a Kyrie Irving sighting in the arena over the weekend. Why he needs to play in home games NOW and it isn't on Kyrie? With LeBron James eclipsing the 10,000 assist mark, making him the only player in NBA history to score 10K in points, rebounds and assists, does he have the greatest overall career in the 75 year history of the sport? (1:21:29) The Jack Eichel saga came full circle last week as he played in Buffalo for the first time since the trade months ago to Vegas. How did he come across in the postgame after being booed by the Sabre faithful? I make a brief mention of Capitals winger, Alexander Ovechkin as he continues to rise the goal scoring charts as he sits third time all-time behind Gordie Howe and Wayne Gretzky. (1:24:23) To close out, my Hero and Zero of the Week.
