Bharti and Sherry chat with Hallie Newman about the workplace policies that organizations have for expecting parents and how capitalism plays a role. A bit more about Hallie Newman:Hallie Newman (she/her) is, in no particular order, a project manager, community builder, connector, and a mother. She thrives on connecting the people in her life to each other around her dining room table and eagerly awaits the opportunity to gather again when the pandemic recedes. In the past year she has found deep inspiration and life in her child's giggles, knitting, and hiking in the woods. In 2019 she experienced the magic of pregnancy and the birth of her first child, something that blew her heart wide open and also exposed her to the unfortunate reality of what it is to be pregnant and working in the United States. With no legal protections in place for her as a pregnant woman, and eventually new mother, working at a small company Hallie navigated the infuriating and heart-wrenching decisions that birthing parents around the country must make on a daily basis. Hallie is committed to using her privilege to tell her story in the hopes that we, as a society, can find a way to lift up and support the fragile prenatal and postpartum periods for parents.Check out her on Twitter: https://twitter.com/hallienewUse the link below to tell us what you're needing to clear:Feedback form: https://forms.gle/NAPRu2sdsMvfheVh8What do you wish more people would talk about? People who want more pleasure in their everyday life -- who are ready to stop enduring the things they don't want. People who want to dream bigger for themselves -- who are ready for better relationships with themselves and others, better sex lives, better careers. People looking to stop working against and instead unite with their bodies and sexuality. I have a background in coaching for anti-oppression. I've been in training for sexological somatics for the past three years and doing so formally in school for the past year, earning certifications in Embodiment Sex Coaching and Somatic Sexological Bodywork. I will be opening up spaces for more clients starting in February, at a discounted rate while I complete my programs, which wrap up later this year. Finally, I am in the process of kicking off a somatic sexuality community. It will center on somatic sex education, skill-building, and the sharing of stories and experiences -- a place to go to talk about the challenges, curiosities, and joys of life and sex from the embodied perspective, where people can learn, be encouraged, and see their lives change. Check out their Instagram page: pleasureactiveUse the link below to tell us what you're needing to clear:Feedback form: https://forms.gle/NAPRu2sdsMvfheVh8 What do you wish more people would talk about?
