Host Bob St.Pierre was joined last weekend at National Pheasant Fest & Quail Classic in Kansas City by PF & QF's Permanent Habitat Programs Manager John Laux and onX Hunt's Marketing Manager Ben Brettingen for a conversation focused on public access for hunters. And thanks to a significant multi-year financial commitment from onX Hunt, PF & QF has announced the organization's Public Access To Habitat (PATH) program is now expanding to a national scale. Episode Highlights: • Laux recounts the origin story of PATH connected to the Aberdeen Pheasant Coalition and its rapid expansion across South Dakota with now more than 25,000 acres of PATH enrolled in the state over the first two years. • Laux also discusses the program's explosion into Nebraska with 44,000 acres enrolled within a target area of Keith, Deuel, Garden, Arthur, Lincoln and Cheyenne counties in just one year. • Brettingen provides first-hand testimony of hunting PATH acres in South Dakota and Nebraska over the last two seasons, then discusses onX Hunt's commitment to helping create public hunting access through partnerships. onX Hunt is a proud supporter of Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever and they want to thank everyone who gives back to the birds we all love to hunt and the places they call home. Click this link to get a free month of onX Hunt and then use code PFQF to get 20% off, and a portion will go back to supporting Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever's wildlife habitat mission.

Send us a textWhat if building a genuine connection could be the key to cracking complex intelligence operations? This episode features Doug Laux, a former CIA case officer and bestselling author of "Left of Boom," who lifts the veil on his secretive world. Doug shares stories from his time working undercover in perilous environments like Afghanistan and Syria, where he learned the indispensable value of human connection and relationship-building. He also discusses his unexpected journey from field operations to television screens, offering a unique glance into life after the agency and the universal principles that guide human behavior, even amidst chaos. The conversation takes an intriguing turn as we explore "left of boom," a term that has journeyed from military manuals into mainstream conversations. We'll uncover the essence of a case officer's role, including the challenges of recruiting spies and establishing trust with former adversaries. Doug reveals the operational hurdles of the Global War on Terror and how concepts like "left of boom" have transcended their original contexts. Through tales of camaraderie and professional bonds, Doug and I reminisce about shared experiences that highlight the ability to forge trust, whether in conflict zones or while engaging in light-hearted banter on alien-themed shows.Beyond the cloak-and-dagger narratives, we tackle the moral complexities faced by intelligence officers working with former enemies and the persistent tension between adhering to protocol and embracing innovation. Doug provides a rare, candid look into the human side of intelligence operations, where empathy, authenticity, and strategic thinking are vital. From navigating bureaucracies at the CIA to exploring the mysteries of UFOs on Netflix, Doug Laux gives us a comprehensive tour of the paths less traveled, ensuring a captivating listen for anyone curious about the world of espionage and the human elements within.Check out LEFT OF BOOMSupport the showWebsite: https://thehumanbehaviorpodcast.buzzsprout.com/shareFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/TheHumanBehaviorPodcastInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/thehumanbehaviorpodcast/ Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/ArcadiaCognerati More about Greg and Brian: https://arcadiacognerati.com/arcadia-cognerati-leadership-team/

Our Somatic Sex, Love, and Relationship bestie Faith Laux is back on the pod to go even deeper (haha, wink wink) into the topic of sex, connection, safety and liberation. Yes yes yes. Get ready for lots of giggles and stop-you-in-your-tracks statements from this incredible woman. In this conversation, Faith and I explore the intricate relationship between healing, pleasure, and sexuality. We discuss why relational safety is essential for a healthy sex life, the impact of shame on sexual experiences, self-pleasure as a powerful tool for healing, and the journey of self-discovery and true self-(and life) acceptance through the teachings of the ancient wisdom tradition of tantra. Faith emphasizes the essential need for open communication in our partnerships (and how this impacts our physiology), how a man's arousal is different than a woman's and how we can (*finally*) talk about this with our partner in a scientific way, our "four brains" and how we can be listen to them in the bedroom for optimal pleasure and healing, and so so much more. Ultimately, this conversation serves as a reminder of the urgency to live fully and authentically, passing on a legacy of aliveness to future generations. Also, we say the "P word" like a zillion times, so FYI for little ears and your own comfort level with that (hello programming!). I am so proud to share this aspect of our healing with you as I am walking this particular journey in real time right now. I got pretty candid with my own process here-- feeling a twinge of a vulnerability hangover but mainly pride because I know I'm being really brave and touching on something important when I feel that. As a friend told me recently, she said that she loves my podcast because I am touching on all facets of what it means to be a mother and a woman in this time, and this episode may not seem like it assists your parenting, but our liberation, our lightness, and our expansion serves ALL. Also, you deserve great sex. Faith is such a safe, wise, attuned, playful advocate as we timidly come back home to ourselves in this sexual realm. What happens when you finally allow yourself to embrace your deepest desires fully? In this deeply personal and raw episode, I talk with my friend and former client, Faith Laux. Faith is a somatic sex and relationship coach whose transformational work helps people reconnect with the wisdom, intuition, and magic of their bodies, empowering them to thrive sexually. Today, Faith and I dive into the layers of healing, yearning, and self-discovery through the lens of kink. After being diagnosed with cancer, Faith experienced a life-altering realization: there were parts of herself she had suppressed, particularly in the realm of desire. This episode explores how acknowledging and pursuing Faith's long-held yearning for kink became a powerful tool for healing—not only for herself but also within her marriage. We discuss the importance of owning your desires, the distinction between kink and sexuality, and how kink doesn't always equate to sex. Whether you're familiar with kink or not, this conversation reveals how living fully aligned with your truth can unlock profound transformation and growth. This episode is about more than just kink; it's about desire, healing, and being honest with yourself and your partner. In this episode: How facing mortality can awaken dormant desires The importance of acknowledging your yearning, even if you can't fulfill it Navigating consent and communication in relationships Healing through kink and the different forms it can take Emotional release and catharsis in kink practices Misconceptions about kink and how it differs from the swinger community The power of vulnerability and intimacy in non-sexual kink experiences Let's connect! His NDE happened in 2008, and it has taken him almost twelve years of research into psychology, politics, and religion to understand what he was exposed to in the death of his fragile ego/self. When this happened, Tommy was at the top of his game, and in an instant, it was all gone. He had to learn how to communicate all over again with a whole new perspective on both life and death and without any fear of either.Tommy Joe Laux is a simple man with an extraordinary story about life after death or beyond this dimension of time and space. With little to no interest in school, he didn't go to a university; he went to the universe. Every question he ever pondered to that point in time was answered instantly. Dorianne Laux is the author of several collections of poetry, including What We Carry (1994), a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award; Smoke (2000); Facts about the Moon (2005), chosen by the poet Ai as winner of the Oregon Book Award and also a finalist for the Lenore Marshall Poetry Prize; The Book of Men (2011), which was awarded the Paterson Prize; and Only As the Day is Long: New and Selected (2019). She has received fellowships from the Guggenheim Foundation and the National Endowment for the Arts, and has been a Pushcart Prize winner. Laux's free-verse poems are sensual and grounded, and they reveal the poet as a compassionate witness to the everyday. Host Bob St.Pierre is joined by John Laux, PF & QF's habitat protection program manager, and Eric Sytsma, PF & QF's habitat protection development officer, for a conversation about creating public lands through the organization's Build a Wildlife Area program. Since its first land acquisition in 1986, PF & QF have created more than 220,000 acres of permanently protected and publicly accessible upland wildlife habitat. The Build a Wildlife Area program is one of the organization's signature tools helping grow that acre total even larger. Episode Highlights: • Laux explains the variety of ways PF & QF work with federal and state agencies to permanently protect critical habitat and create public access. Agencies interested in discussing a land acquisition with PF & QF should connect with Laux at jlaux@pheasantsforever.org. • Sytsma adds to the discussion with his knowledge around the role chapters, donors, and corporate partners play in helping fund permanent protection. Donors interested in learning more about land gifts should connect with Sytsma at esytsma@pheasantsforever.org. • All told, the organization averages a 14-to-1 match for leveraging donor contribution toward a land acquisition. In fact, acquisitions in the state of Minnesota even reach a match averaging 40-to-1. BIRD DOGS FOR HABITAT and BUILD A WILDLIFE AREA Bird Dogs for Habitat is an online popularity contest with a purpose. From April 1st through 30th we're challenging people to cast a vote and make a donation on behalf of their favorite bird dog breed. As the sexual beings that we are, we can choose to embrace our sexuality throughout our lifespan, treating it like a "work in progress" and keep seeking pleasure al-ways. There is a part of sexuality that is not talked about often, sexuality and cancer or any other long-term medical diagnosis, so this week's guest, Faith Laux, comes to share her experience with pleasure as an added healing modality, and shed some light on this very important topic. Faith Laux is a Somatic Sex, Love and Relationships coach. Her transformational coaching helps her clients reconnect to the wisdom, intuition and enchantment of their body so that they are empowered to thrive sexually. She helps her clients prioritize their pleasure and delight in their sexual energy. In May of 2022 she was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer. Since then, she has been adding pleasure as a healing modality alongside her treatments to help her thrive and enjoy life on an otherwise grueling journey. She has additional experience with shamanic healing and emotional empowerment which she weaves into her offerings. Mother, artist, wife, teacher and adventurer Faith seeks to normalize the conversation around sexuality, cancer and desire. If you start thinking about healing as an integrative work, you can approach cancer and any other long-term diagnosis as a part of your life that can be welcomed, understood, nourished and even loved. Moving with it as opposed to rejecting it and desperately attempt to purge it, bringing in an opportunity to connect with a part of yourself that calls for your attention. This smooth dive into a different stage of life, allows you to integrate all your parts, including your sexuality, and pursue true wholeness. In many cases, an unresolved sexual issue can be, not only the source of emotional distress and a dimmed sexual life, but also of disease, and there lies the importance of integration. Being honest, we know much of our lives revolve around sexuality! So this episode is an invitation to work on yourself, embrace your sexuality and never settle for the idea that the best sex of your life is behind you. And if you or a beloved one are going through cancer, Faith's story will be truly beneficial. Tune in! Warning: Opening the door of healing as a new mom may bring unexpected twists, turns, frustrations, sadness, joy, satisfaction, and growth! In today's episode Chelsea talks with mother and RN, Jordan Laux, to discuss what she's discovered about herself and her inner child as she entered motherhood. We discuss how we give and receive love, what it's like navigating growth in yourself and in your partner as you become parents together, and tips for communicating and staying connected through the changes. Is this episode and podcast helpful? Please leave a review so others can find and learn from this podcast too. About our guest: Jordan is a pediatric and perinatal nurse whose heart has always been with mothers and children. After having a child of her own in 2019 and experiencing both birth trauma and the lack of support in postpartum from healthcare and our culture at large, a spark was lit in her heart to educate, and empower mothers in the postpartum period. American culture leaves mothers isolated and unprepared for the intense holistic changes motherhood brings. In the last three years this radical transformation of identity, relationship reorganization, body image struggles, and priority shifts has fanned this spark into a flame to create a supportive community for mothers because it's something greatly lacking in her own life. Jordan is trying to manifest this community of support and education with The Supported Parenthood RN. By day Jordan is reheating her coffee 27 times while being bossed around by her toddler daughter, and by night she's either working in the hospital or dreaming of ways to connect with other mothers. Our guest this week is non-binary author and editor B. Laux. They're also a parent to three kids, three cats, and a tortoise. In their fleeting moments of free time, they enjoy being outdoors and reading–mostly indie books. B. has been a friend to our show and many of our team members almost since the beginning. It has been an absolute privilege over the past five years to journey alongside of them as they've come more into their true self. As we kick of the month of June we are so grateful to B for coming on the show to help us all be more aware, supportive, and inclusive. While this applies to gender, sexuality, and many other things we touch on, growing into an inclusive awareness helps us be better people. Quote: “TIME merely extends fear while KNOWLEDGE & UNDERSTANDING can help overcome it.” 9 Things you NEED TO KNOW about CHOKING when starting solids#1 It is totally normal to feel anxious when starting solids.Millions of parents have successfully followed baby-led feeding and the key to getting past your fear is through knowledge and understanding of how baby-led feeding works, research behind it, and how to reduce the risk of choking.#2 Two research studies have concluded that baby-led feeding does NOT increase the risk of choking. Read the studies here:https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/29205569/https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/27647715/#4 Gagging is normal when starting solids. Baby is gagging is they are coughing, making wrenching sounds, mouth open / tongue out, or watery eyes. If baby appears to be gagging, let them work it out themselves.Choking is when baby's airway is blocked and baby is either silent or making a high-pitched wheeze sound. They also may look scared, and you need to intervene.#5 Caregivers should take an infant CPR and choking response course before starting solids so they are prepared in the rare case of emergency. @safebeginnings has an Online Course we recommend to all parents!#6 High risk choking hazard foods should be avoided or modified so baby can enjoy them safely. CDC.gov has a list of top choking hazards.#7 Learning how to properly serve food to baby based on age is an important part of baby-led feeding. We cover a variety of foods in our program.Generally speaking, food is served as sticks and cooked until soft for 6-8 months and then served as small, bite-sized pieces for 9+ months once baby has their pincer grasp.#8 Babies already know how to swallow, but they need to learn how to chew. The best way to teach chewing is with chewable solids, which we explain in our program.#9 The safest place to eat is sitting upright in a highchair. Do not feed baby on the go or in a reclined position. Remove all distractions and sit next to baby while they eat. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
