Welcome to the What I Know So Far wellbeing podcast, where I share what I know so far about how to grow, deal with challenges, heal the mind, strengthen your mental health, and be authentically YOU. These will be weekly motivations and inspirations in little snippet doses that will encourage you to…
The Mindset Managed podcast is coming to an end so I'm discussing success, growth, change, and writing in today's episode. Join me one last time!
Today I am talking about where you draw the line in the sand (aka what you stand for and where your boundaries are). Why? Because it's an important part of being a confident person who knows who you are!
Throughout my time sharing online, I have noticed that certain pieces of advice keep coming up. Here, I am starting the year off by sharing with you general advice that will always be important to me, no matter the situation or year.
Another year has come and gone. This year I wanted to root down and settle into my life. I feel like I didn't quite achieve this vibe, and that's okay. There were a lot of external factors influencing this feeling, but I've worked on those things and I think settling in will happen more naturally next year anyway. Therefore, with 2022 upon us, I have new intentions and focuses for the New Year. Here is the vibe I'm going for in 2022… What's your focus for the new year?
I'm sorry that I've been absent so much lately. I did anticipate this, but with work, university, writing projects, and moving house recently, I've been a busy bee. Here is my penultimate podcast episode of the year, rambling about the little things and how we can make life a little more enjoyable and thus better in the long run.
Today's episode is a pep talk for when you are feeling unsure about what to do or who you are. Keep this for when you need a pick me up.
Our society is completely manmade. It's all a social construct, built and then upheld by everyday people. There are a lot of people in groups that are suffering in our world, and speaking up can be important. But also toxic. That begs the question, then, when should we speak and when should we stay silent? Click to play!
Who are you? That's a loaded question, isn't it?! But it's an important one. A question that has been rattling me a little lately, so I wanted to explore the importance of knowing who we are, what can happen if you don't, and soon I will have a questionnaire coming about what to do to get to know yourself more.
Hey guys, today I'm updating you on: What I read this summer and my year's reading goal My summer writing goal, finished stories, etc. My bike riding intentions and fears Going back to work for a new academic year Back to university for Third Year and a new module What I want to do with my content for the rest of the year Check out srcrawford.co.uk for more!
Today I am talking about what it means to be brave and why we admire it in others, alongside the importance of beauty and the role it plays in our everyday lives.
Being an adult is stressful sometimes, so maybe being a kid again (briefly) can help us when we are in a bad mood. Today I discovered that things that we did or loved as a child can really shift our mood. BONUS TIP: How can you carry out your day with a sense of childlike wonder and imagination?
Today's ramble is about what we are actually here to do and about the radical idea that maybe we're not here to produce and serve and compete...
This August I plan to write a story, which will be a significant amount of words and take a lot of focus! If you, too, are working on a project right now, here are 20 ways to help you consistently show up for this project and get it completed without feeling burnt out or overwhelmed!
Today I am discussing overwhelm, the fear of missing out and the plethora of options available to us in this modern world and how that all feels! Can we commit or are there just too many options out there?
Today I am discussing ways that we might be able to live a life of more peace, contentment and satisfaction without striving for perfection and lasting happiness which isn't achievable.
Today I'm talking about how things can be true and untrue at the same time and that's totally confusing and totally normal! So we should embrace the grey areas, speak in fewer extremes and certainty, and free ourselves with questions that have no definite answers! You're ugly and pretty! You're dumb and smart! You're free and not free! You're right and you're wrong! It's all ok…
I very much value simplicity and prioritisation. I like to know I have only a few things to focus on, rather than a scary, hefty list. This is some new advice on ways you might simplify your goals, habits, and to-dos while still getting things done each day.
This week I want you to consider ways in which you may be blocking the very things you have been asking for. How have you been self-sabotaging (knowingly or not) and causing things to be blocked from you in your life?
Are you feeling like you're not good enough? Like who you are is being examined and questioned? Yeah, same… I think part of the issue (which I didn't talk about in the episode because I rushed it, to be honest, is this culture of perfectionism and performance. Where we want to be, NEED to be, so great at everything we do because we are not worthy and how dare we exist in this modern world if we are not constantly switched on, doing, doing, doing, and proving ourselves to strangers who don't care about us anyway because they're all feeling anxiety about themselves and their own lives that don't stack up! Wow, yeah, not great. And breathe! That if you say you're a writer, you better be a perfect writer. If you say you're a mother, you better be a perfect mother. If you say you're gay, you better be a perfect gay! It's madness! It's imposter syndrome, really. And it has to stop. Let people (and yourselves) be who they are and do what they do without question…
I've been feeling this resistance lately when trying to create and it's been frustrating! So I sat with myself, got quiet, and this is what I realised...
Summer is officially here and so I invite you to make the most of it while it lasts!
Today I'm inspiring you with some advice on why you shouldn't bother worrying too much about being an expert or the best at something. BONUS content: I didn't think about this while recording but here are some things to be instead of an expert: A beginner Someone who asks questions Curious Seeker of knowledge Someone who seeks a mentor A trier A hard worker Passionate and dedicated to the thing Someone with a Growth Mindset Someone who explores their skills and interests Someone who mixes things up and tries things in new ways Check out my blog: https://srcrawford.co.uk/
Jealousy, like all emotions, serves a purpose. Today, I'm talking about what that purpose is and how we can use our jealousy instead of being consumed by it or letting it turn us ugly.
I am someone who looks for control in all situations and to be honest, it's exhausting. We can't control everything, so why bother? Today I'm doing a personal and honest conversation about our need for control, why it's no good for us, and what to do instead.
For a few weeks, I’ve felt a little off. Not bad, just off. An ickiness has settled into my body and I’ve needed a shift in energy to get rid of it. I’ve analysed myself, hated myself, beat myself up. I’ve been a perfectionist and berated myself for not stacking up. Here are my confessions in an open and honest discussion about how I’ve felt lately.
I bought myself a Fitbit for my birthday and it has piqued something in me...
My most sacred value is Peace and one of my lifelong goals is inner peace. If you, like me, want a gentle and peaceful life, then here are just a few of my ideas that will grant you more of a peaceful life.
Today I’m ranting about how overwhelm and exhaustion are a given in our society right now. How unhealthy and yet easy it is to feel stressed and tired from the amount of information we are exposed to and the number of things we’re expected to do in order to be worthy. Nah thanks!
Tomorrow is my birthday! In true birthday fashion, I have been thinking about things I would like to work on and focus on improving in my life. However, there are many things I'm proud of in my life and what I do, and so I'm appreciating these things about myself and remembering to keep going!
Today I am talking about how we can use our imagination to help change our worlds. Imagining something that’s outside of what is our current reality inside ourselves and outside in the wider world.
Spring has sprung, as they say, and so I’m talking today about shedding skins, letting go, and moving on towards something new this Spring. Are you going to choose to rise and awaken, or shrink and remain in hibernation?
Today I'm questioning whether the Western world is making things too easy for us instead of better for us in the long-run. Is everything too convenient?
We all know these things, but we often forget them or don’t adopt them in our lives in order to make a difference. If you want to do better for and to yourself and others, here is some obvious advice and truths for you to remember and follow.
Today I'm dropping in with a quick one discussing two things: the origins of our fear and sadness, maybe there's a story you're telling yourself that links to it; and how our expectations of ourselves are causing us to be both the victim and the villain.
I provide a whistle-stop tour on our poor categorisation skills, how complicated the whole business can get, and share some ideas about perhaps scrapping it all together! Your identity will never be something you could write out on a sheet of paper, listing with words and labels who you are, because you will always be so much more than that.
Today I would like to just invite you to tap into your creativity. To give yourself permission to create freely: create for the hell of it, others be damned!
Have you been feeling low and anxious lately? Perhaps what you're feeling is burnout. Here are some things that cause burnout and a few ways to avoid and combat it.
In this day and age, we are living in a world of choice, options and possibilities. Sounds good, right? Wrong... Here's why we are being made ill and driven mad by too much choice. And what we can do about it.
Today I'm discussing three things we're doing too much as a society that we could do with stopping, and three things we aren't doing enough and need to start doing in 2021.
Happy New Year and welcome 2021! Today I want you to think about and decide what is actually worthy of your stress, worries, and focus this new year. To take the pressure off because nothing is perfect or predictable – 2020 taught us that, at least. Priorities Anxiety Choice Societal pressures Values and importance Minimising Click to play!
This festive season and end to the crazy 2020, I want you to anchor in hope, learn to trust, and bring a magical awareness to your life.
I'm saying goodbye for the rest of 2020. I'll be speaking to you all again soon in 2021, hopefully with a better year ahead of us as a world! I'm talking briefly about my own life, changes, and things I've learned and have yet to learn. Take care, all, end on a high and keep growing... Speak soon!
Let me tell you, in case you didn't know, it's okay not to know everything! It's okay to say, "I don't know enough about this to have an opinion!" Wow, what a concept! Today I'm talking about how we need to all take a step back and appreciate what we don't know as an opportunity to actually learn.
I've been angry and sad lately. Not in my personal life, because thankfully that's great, but with the state of the world and the negativity of the people in it. Today, I'm ranting about it all and seeing if we can be and see the light at all right now...
My partner of almost 6 years is 26 years old now! Happy birthday! I wanted to just discuss all the things I've learned from him during our relationship. This is just some of the amazing things that I've gained from him just being himself...
In today's podcast episode, I'm talking passionately about our self-worth and self-esteem and how these are affected by how much power we give to external things. We mindlessly give away energy, power, thoughts, feelings, and time to things that don't deserve it. We rely too heavily on external things, when we need more self-trust above all else...
Who have you decided you are and what have you decided it means? What would happen if you un-decided it?
I feel like 2020 has been a Microcosm of life as a whole: uncontrollable, unpredictable, up and down, emotional, but a blessing if you look close enough... What has your 2020 looked like? What have you learned? What does it all mean for you, your life, and your future? And what will you do to make the last 3 months count? Today I'm reflecting on my own year and giving some insights into how we grow through adversity.
If you are an anxious overthinker, like me, then your mind is used to imagining the worst and thinking about every scenario. But what if I encouraged you to do this in a more focused and productive way? You're already an intelligent, creative person, because overthinking and imagination go hand-in-hand. Why not use this skill in a healthier way to motivate you?
Memento Mori = "Remember you must die..." This podcast episode was quickly recorded the day Chadwick Boseman passed away. May he rest in eternal peace. Today we are reflecting on our mortality and the shortness and fragility of life; not so that we become depressed from that reality, but so that we can refocus on what truly matters.
Adulting is hard and nothing like we expected as kids. But we're here, we're adults, and it's something we have to try to succeed at! So what do we do? I have a number of key things that can help us to navigate adulthood a little better to ensure a healthy, happy experience.
