If you've ever said, “I want to change” — I want to stop drinking, I want to leave this job, I want to stop people-pleasing, I want to feel less stuck — but you keep waking up in the exact same life…this episode is for you. Sobriety isn't just about putting down the wine glass. It's about learning how to live like you actually give a damn about your one life — instead of living on autopilot, numbing out with alcohol, over-functioning for everyone else, and calling it “fine”. In this episode, I asked Andrea Owen, author of Live Like You Give a Damn: 25 Bold Moves to Get Honest, Face the Hard Stuff, and Show Up for Yourself, speaker, coach, and woman in long-term recovery, to share how to actually change your life, not just talk about it. Andrea and I dive into how to get unstuck, move through fear and shame, and show up for yourself in sobriety without numbing out with alcohol. You've probably seen it all over social media GLP's, and maybe even wondered if a GLP-1 medication could be the answer you've been looking for. But here's the thing: while these meds can be powerful tools, they're not magic, and they're definitely not meant to replace the habits that actually create lasting change. In this episode, we're unpacking what GLP-1s really are, who they were designed for, and how to protect your health if you choose to use one. Here's what we're diving into: What GLP-1s are and how they actually work in your body The medical conditions they were intended to treat (and what they don't fix) The risks of using them as a shortcut — including the yo-yo cycle of rapid loss and regain Why protecting your muscle with protein + resistance training is non-negotiable How to use a “quieter appetite” season as a reset, not a bypass The questions to ask yourself before deciding if this tool is right for you If you've been curious about GLP-1s, this episode will give you clarity, context, and the honest truth about what they can — and can't — do for your body and your goals.

Get Honest or Die Lying author Charlamagne Tha God is here for a big conversation about how small talk destroys meaningful connection in modern society.Full show notes and resources can be found here: jordanharbinger.com/1167What We Discuss with Charlamagne Tha God:Unhealed trauma drives destructive behavior. Charlamagne emphasizes that people project their pain onto others when they haven't done the internal work to heal themselves.Small talk is BS that delays meaningful connection. Instead of surface pleasantries, be intentional and get straight to what you actually want to discuss.Via ever-present smartphones, social media creates verbally abusive relationships. The constant negativity and opinion overload damages mental health, so curating or avoiding it protects peace.Success amplifies who you already are rather than changing you. If you have unhealed trauma and a wounded ego, money and fame will make those problems worse, not better.Finding worthiness eliminates imposter syndrome. When you realize you're in your position because you're meant to be there and walking in your purpose, self-doubt disappears. And much more...And if you're still game to support us, please leave a review here — even one sentence helps! In these final days of the Presidential campaign, Vice-President Kamala Harris has been getting in front of voters as much as she can. Given the polls showing shaky support among Black men, one man she absolutely had to talk to was Lenard McKelvey, much better known as Charlamagne tha God. As a co-host of the syndicated “Breakfast Club” morning radio show, Charlamagne has interviewed Presidential candidates such as Harris, Hillary Clinton, and Joe Biden, as well as New York City's embattled Mayor Eric Adams and many more. He tells David Remnick that he received death threats just for speaking with Harris—“legitimate threats, not . . . somebody talking crazy on social media. That's just me having a conversation with her about the state of our society. So imagine what she actually gets.” Charlamagne believes firmly that the narrative of Harris losing Black support is overstated, or a polling fiction, but he agrees that the Democrats have a messaging problem. The author of a book titled “Get Honest or Die Lying,” Charlamagne says that the Party has shied away from widespread concerns about immigration and the economy, to its detriment. “I just want to see more honesty from Democrats. I am back after the summer break and am discussing a tough but important topic. I reflect in this episode on the struggles that I have faced as an “accidental leader,” especially over this past summer. Leadership isn't something I was trained for, and, like many, I have had to figure it out as I go.Early in my career, I followed the example of leaders before me, and to be honest, I wasn't great at it. I was task-oriented, lacked empathy, and didn't treat people as the humans they are, and over time, I have realized that being too harsh does not work, but swinging to the opposite extreme and being too soft also has its own problems. This past summer, I really grappled with the balance between kindness and accountability, and I have been asking myself: where's the middle ground? How can I be a compassionate leader while still holding my team to a high standard?Listen in as I talk about the lessons that I have learned from mentors as well as a book - Get Honest or Die Lying by Charlamagne tha God - that helped me find some clarity. Charlamagne's story about holding his radio team accountable while still showing care resonated with me deeply and really made me realize that leadership isn't about being black or white or mean or nice. It is about setting expectations, providing support, and allowing your team to choose their path.Join me as I unpack these lessons and discuss what it truly means to lead with both heart and strength!Time Stamps:[1:06] I am discussing my struggles as an accidental leader seeking to learn from others.[4:13] My biggest challenge has been balancing kindness with accountability.[6:20] I reflect on the book Get Honest or Die Lying by Charlamagne Tha God.[9:25] Hear about how the book illustrates the consequences of Charlamagne's team's negligence in a live radio show.[11:26] A louder conversation got Charlamagne's team's attention without being overly harsh.[13:47] The book helped me realize that a loud conversation (but not yelling) is necessary to maintain quality and accountability.[15:51] An ideal team member should be passionate about their craft and mission.[17:49] Leaders must set clear expectations for team members, allowing them to choose their actions.[20:02] Hear how I have changed as a leader after reading Charlamagne's book.[22:15] I reveal what's coming up next in episode 27!Resources:The Accidental Leader - Websiteyournarketing.cobo@yourmarketingco.comBo McDonald on LinkedInCharlamagne Tha God - Get Honest or Die Lying: Why Small Talk Sucks

Have you ever felt honesty could make or break your most important relationships? Our guest, Laurie Gerber, a seasoned life and relationship coach, discovered that. Laurie's journey from near-marital collapse to deep, connected intimacy is nothing short of inspiring. Initially seeking help for her career, Laurie was redirected to confront her crumbling marriage after a serious argument and her husband's growing interest in her assistant. This pivotal moment pushed her to align her actions with her heart's true desires, ultimately saving her marriage and transforming her life.We then peel back the many layers of lying within relationships. Beyond outright deceit, we dive deep into lies of omission, misrepresentation, and the common avoidance of confrontation. Laurie and I discuss the delicate balance between sharing personal experiences and empathizing with others' feelings. We also highlight how understanding one's past choices can pave the way for healthier future relationships. By embracing honesty and authenticity, Laurie provides hope and practical tools for anyone looking to break free from negative patterns and build stronger connections.Lastly, we tackle the complexities of finding a long-term partner and navigating relationship liabilities. Laurie shares actionable advice on maintaining self-worth, steering clear of a scarcity mindset, and embracing authenticity in dating. We challenge misconceptions about what makes someone undesirable and discuss how to manage personal liabilities, whether being a single parent or living with an illness - those are not liabilities but limiting beliefs. Laurie's journey, including her experience delivering a TED talk and embracing radical honesty, encourages listeners to confront their vulnerabilities and foster a culture of acceptance and truth. Tune in for a transformative discussion that could change how you approach your relationships forever. To find out more about Laurie Gerber, go to www.lauriegerber.com.

I'm learning about this and realizing I'm not near as change-minded and able as I'd like to admit. I see myself taking the easy way and falling to routine most of the time, and often, it's ok.
