This week, we welcome a music legend whose voice has become synonymous with the sounds of the season. At just twelve years old, Brenda Lee recorded “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree.” She shares memories of recording in Nashville alongside country greats, her deep respect for the team behind every hit, and the enduring value of kindness in a competitive industry. Later in the episode, we’ll hear from pastor, author, and publisher Philip Nation, who has dedicated his career to making Scripture accessible to readers everywhere. Philip opens up about his desire to know and understand God’s Word more fully. And we just had a ball.” - Brenda Lee “I try to tell the new artists that are coming up, ‘You don’t do this by yourself. You may be the greatest singer that ever walked the earth, but if you don’t conform and listen, you’ll still be a great singer, but nobody will know.’” - Brenda Lee “If you don’t make it on your voice, you’ll make it on your kindness. Goodness always wins out.” - Brenda Lee “I think that walking alongside other people in celebrations and in painful times, and constantly looking to the Scripture to inform, guide, and help you make decisions, to find hope when times are dark, and to be able to magnify your joys when you’re celebrating—to do that together is the very nature of what we see God unfolding in the Bible.” - Philip Nation “[God] is constantly calling people together to live by faith and to walk through this world, not as lone rangers and solitary believers, but to do it together.” - Philip Nation “There is plenty of anxiety and stress and pressure that just flows through our lives, which is why we need the study of Scripture. It’s why we need to be able to pause in prayer [and do as] the Scripture tells us, to pray without ceasing, just to let our hearts be abounding in prayer and our minds being constantly renewed by the Scripture.” - Philip Nation “When I pick up the Bible, I realize that this is God knowing what humanity is all about and desiring to speak with me personally, kindly, and clearly. Even in the midst of stress and anxiety, it is the place we can turn our minds and allow the Holy Spirit to say, ‘I want to meet you and care for you in this moment of need.’” - Philip Nation ________________________ Enjoy watching these additional videos from Jesus Calling YouTube channel! On today's Bible Answer Man broadcast (12/25/25), Hank begins this special Christmas Day edition by recapping this week's special editions of the Bible Answer Man that featured his acronym, CHRISTMAS. Hank also poses the question: do you have the Christmas spirit? In fact, what is the Christmas spirit? More than the feeling of happiness experienced when we receive a gift or a bonus. The true spirit of Christmas is a spirit of selfless giving, like the Lord Jesus Christ, who humbled himself for our sake and gave us the greatest gift of all.

You're feeling absolutely fantastic this morning! But not for the reason you think. You don't feel good because it's Christmas Eve. You don't feel good because you know what's under the tree, or even because you're off work or have no professional Zoom meetings tomorrow (likely for a whole week!), or that your favorite food is being prepared, or that your playlist is FIRE and the Temptations are going in on ‘Silent Night'.All of these things may very well seem to be happening, but they're not causing that quiet-Joy you're aware of. You're just presently in alignment... allowing yourself to feel good, to experience God. You're currently BEing your true Self! This is your natural state— one of uncaused joy, ease, love, relaxation and peace. What people call ‘The Christmas Spirit' is your original nature, and you can feel this way even on your first day back to work, if you give yourself permission.God didn't come closer this morning, and It won't get further away next week. We just changed the way we are living in this moment. And now we must keep living this way... remembering to recognize that the Light is ALWAYS on inside. That we are this Light. If you can stop waiting for special occasions to remember this background Joy, to feel Go(o)d, to be yourSelf, your life will change drastically from the inside out and very rapidly. I promise you. #MerryChristmasWith you in and AS Christhood,@curlynikki--Our new book, 'Wake Up to Love' is HERE! Get your copy. Share a copy. While doing whatever one is doing— seeing, hearing, touching, smelling, eating, moving, sleeping, breathing or talking— one should realize one's essential nature as pure consciousness. Thus does one attain liberation.” - The Yoga Vasistha

This episode explores what I call the miracle before the miracle of Christmas. Before Bethlehem. Before the manger. Before angels filled the sky. God was already at work. In this teaching from Luke chapter 1, we walk through the story of Zacharias and Elizabeth, the priesthood, and the grace of God that moves even when prayers feel unanswered and seasons feel barren. This is a message for anyone who has: - Remained faithful while waiting - Served God without seeing change - Wondered if time has passed them by - Felt marked by past mistakes, family history, or reproach You'll see how God's grace: - Qualifies who we think are disqualified - Answers prayers we've stopped believing for - Removes shame and restores calling - Prepares the way for His promises This message is deeply rooted in Scripture, moving from Exodus to Luke, Galatians, 1 Peter, and Revelation, revealing how God establishes a royal priesthood and remains faithful across generations. Whether you're listening during the Christmas season or any time of year, this teaching is a reminder that God is faithful, even in the waiting. Join Mike and Tim as they dive into a lively discussion about the essence of family, identity, and faith. In this episode, they explore the concept of "adoption to sonship" and how it redefines our understanding of belonging and community. With humor and depth, they challenge traditional views and invite listeners to consider a broader perspective on what it means to be part of a spiritual family. Tune in for an engaging conversation that blends theology with everyday life, all wrapped in the warmth of the holiday spirit. In this conversation, the hosts explore the themes of faith, family, and community within Christianity, emphasizing the importance of understanding God as a father and the implications of adoption and sonship. They discuss the cultural context of Jesus' teachings, the role of individualism versus community, and the concept of loyalty to God's family. The conversation also touches on the distinction between bounded and centered sets in faith, ultimately inviting listeners to engage in a communal journey of faith. Takeaways: Christian nationalism is alive and well. Father is a status word, not a gender word. To be a part of Jesus is to be a part of his people. Jesus is not your personal savior. We're playing soccer, not rugby. The early Christians did not sharply distinguish between commitment to God and commitment to God's family. Salvation is a social reunification. You cannot be a part of two groups. Loyalty to God is loyalty to God's people. We are playing soccer, not rugby. Text Me Here!!!Anyone else feeling a little exhausted? Just me? Well good news, this is the week we get to soak it all in, The Christmas Spirit is knocking at our door ready to take over! So I hope you find time to take it all in this week! This morning we are going through Brother Webb's talk, and I learned that I really want to be a better teacher, but even more a better learner. I loved this talk. At first glance I wasn't sure how I'd feel about this, but after going through it and alongside the Teaching in The Savior's Way Manual, which spoiler alert, Brother Webb pulls from his entire talk, it was so eye opening!I hope I do it even a little justice, but mostly I hope that the Spirit can testify to you what you need to hear today. It did to me and I'm so grateful it did!Have a great day and a great week!*****Links: Brother Webb's Talk: https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/general-conference/2025/10/22webb?lang=engAnother Great Talk from Brother Webb: https://www.byui.edu/speeches/commencements/chad-h-webb/scatter-the-cows-july-2025Teaching in The Savior's Way Manual: https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/manual/teaching-in-the-saviors-way-2022?lang=eng E-mail: munchandminglepodcast@gmail.com Insta: @munchandminglepodcast

The last time Trisha Yearwood was on the show was back in 2021, when she was here to discuss a cookbook called Trisha's Kitchen, but this year has been all about music. In 2025, Trisha came out with not one but two new albums, a remarkable burst of energy and creativity. The Mirror, which she released over the summer, was her first album in six years, a personal and passionate collection of songs—all 15 of which she co-wrote—that some have called the best work of her career. Then in November she came out with a holiday record called Christmastime, which she recorded with a full orchestra and followed up with a series of concerts all over the country. Trisha is still cooking up a storm, of course, especially around the holidays. She talked to Sid about some of her longtime Christmas traditions with her husband, Garth Brooks, why they're always one of the first houses in the neighborhood to put up their lights, and the new holiday song they wrote together, “Merry Christmas, Valentine.” For more info visit: southernliving.com/biscuitsandjam Sid Evans - Editor-in-Chief, Southern Living Krissy Tiglias - GM, Southern Living Lottie Leymarie - Executive Producer Michael Onufrak - Audio Engineer & Editor/Producer Jeremiah Lee McVay - Producer Learn more about your ad choices.
