Unapologetically me. The sense of oneness I have with myself amd how I was created at one point disturbed me. It took experience more of people that look like me to embrace why I was created this way. Although not very popular institutionally, my very walk and the way I talk is admired by nearly every other culture across the globe. It has become fascinating to watch the reprehensible behavior toward be actually respectful misunderstanding. I am black and I will die thus way. It seems some could likely not care less about me because of my skin, I was beautifully and wonderfully made. Let's talk about this skin we're in.
"We often give our best advice away to others for free, but we do not take it ourselves." When we show up and help others, when we persevere through tough conditions, when we take time to appreciate this moment, we can focus on our progression and growth. Education is not about getting to an endpoint, it is about growing and developing as we go. This podcast ends with a reminder to stop, take a moment, and appreciate what we have done. So, remind yourself that you are proud of yourself! Three Points: - We need to get better at taking our own advice we give freely to others. - The focus should be mostly on progression and growth, which will ultimately lead to results. - Education is not about getting to an endpoint, it is about growing and developing.

How do you feel when someone says they’re proud of you? It’s something I’ve always had in my vocabulary. I love genuinely telling people I’m proud of them when they get a new job, start a business, achieve a goal, or make progress. A while back I read all these articles online that perhaps you shouldn’t tell people you’re proud of other people. It can be considered a power thing, like someone who shares pride in you is somehow better than you. This episode shares why I’m going to keep saying “I’m proud of you” and I mean it. Your One Bold Move: Be proud of yourself. You are doing amazing things. I’m proud of you, too. On July 31, Beyonce dropped her visual album "Black Is King." Rich with symbolism and luxurious styling, it's an unapologetic ode to Black creativity. Featured in the film are paintings and sculptures by a number of artists including Kehinde Wiley and Derrick Adams. In fact, Derrick Adams' portrait of a Black woman with long braids is inspired by a native Harlemite making her name in the art industry, Destinee Ross-Sutton. She was selected to curate Christie's new virtual art exhibition, "Say it Loud (I'm Black and I'm Proud)." She joins the show to discuss the exhibition, which is online through August 18.

Today, 2/25/2020, we pay homage to the late great James Brown... James Joseph Brown (May 3, 1933 – December 25, 2006) was an American singer, songwriter, dancer, musician, record producer and bandleader. A progenitor of funk music and a major figure of 20th century music and dance, he is often referred to as the "Godfather of Soul" and "Soul Brother No. 1".[1] In a career that lasted over 50 years, he influenced the development of several music genres.[2] Brown began his career as a gospel singer in Toccoa, Georgia.[3] He joined a rhythm and blues vocal group, the Gospel Starlighters (which later evolved into the Famous Flames) founded by Bobby Byrd, in which he was the lead singer.[4][5] First coming to national public attention in the late 1950s as a member of the singing group The Famous Flames with the hit ballads "Please, Please, Please" and "Try Me", Brown built a reputation as a tireless live performer with the Famous Flames and his backing band, sometimes known as the James Brown Band or the James Brown Orchestra. His success peaked in the 1960s with the live album Live at the Apollo and hit singles such as "Papa's Got a Brand New Bag", "I Got You (I Feel Good)" and "It's a Man's Man's Man's World". During the late 1960s, Brown moved from a continuum of blues and gospel-based forms and styles to a profoundly "Africanized" approach to music-making that influenced the development of funk music.[6] By the early 1970s, Brown had fully established the funk sound after the formation of the J.B.s with records such as "Get Up (I Feel Like Being a) Sex Machine" and "The Payback". He also became noted for songs of social commentary, including the 1968 hit "Say It Loud – I'm Black and I'm Proud". Brown continued to perform and record until his death from pneumonia in 2006. Brown recorded 17 singles that reached No. 1 on the Billboard R&B charts.[7][8] He also holds the record for the most singles listed on the BillboardHot 100 chart which did not reach No. 1.[9][10] Brown was inducted into 1st class of the Rhythm & Blues Music Hall of Fame in 2013 as an artist and then in 2017 as a songwriter. He also received honors from many other institutions, including inductions into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Songwriters Hall of Fame.[11] In Joel Whitburn's analysis of the Billboard R&B charts from 1942 to 2010, Brown is ranked No. 1 in The Top 500 Artists.[12] He is ranked No. 7 on Rolling Stone's list of its 100 Greatest Artists of All Time. Rolling Stone has also cited Brown as the most sampledartist of all time.[13][14] #29DaysOfBlackHistory *Putting People On Game does not own any rights to this music or images* Hit us up or send us a text 214-744-3601! In honor of Black History Month, Brooklyn’s Borough President, Hon. Eric L. Adams, sat down with award-winning Caribbean podcaster Jay Blessed in a rare conversation on his prismatic personal life, controversial career as a 22-year NYPD veteran, challenging political rise and his passionate pursuit to be the next Mayor of New York City. Despite the traumatic experience of being innocently arrested and beaten by cops at 15 years old, along with his younger brother, Adams chose to become an NYPD officer to be the change he wanted to see in his community, by using his voice and service as a form of therapy. The 2021 NYC Mayoral Candidate and formidable frontrunner shares his vulnerability in this unconventional and transparent podcast interview. Though some might consider him pugnacious, controversial and a firebrand, Adams shares that his dedication towards being a rebellious public servant has been deeply rooted in disrupting and correcting unfair, unjust and unhealthy societal norms. Jay Blessed skillfully leads this 63 minute light-hearted yet complex conversation, packed with raw emotions and covering a range of topics such as: Mental Health, Mindfulness, Police Brutality, Public Safety, Immigration Issues and Reform, Voting Rights, Diabetes, Food Justice, School Nutrition, Plant-Based Health, African American Men’s Health. Affordable Housing, Gentrification, Real Estate Fraud, Homelessness, Women’s Rights, Women’s Equal Pay, Corruption Scandals, Race-Based Brutality, Caribbean-American Issues. Adams brings his receipts as he declares, “I didn’t go into the police department because I wanted to, I went into the police department because I was called to. I’m not running for Mayor because I want to, I’m running for Mayor because I’m called to!” Get some laughs, learn something new and get to know the man behind the titles, as we get inside the head of the Borough President and, possibly, next Mayor of New York City!
