In this week's episode I'm joined by Matt Caldaroni from Mind-Body FusionWe chat about the difference between traditional sports psychology and resiliency focused mental performance development. The mystery behind the idea of perfection and the typical misconception among young athletes. We dive deep into the biggest area where young athletes falter while striving to achieve high levels of mental performance and resilience. We reveal the road to becoming an elite athlete, and the secret behind overcoming failure and the fear to achieve domination. We discuss the approach of being process oriented and overcoming goal overload. We focus on the impact of alter egos on an athlete's game; the details of Mind-Body Fusion's mental resilience test and how it aids in building awareness around resiliency and emotional intelligence.Click here for full show notes: https://goaliehacks.com/ghp-025-the-power-of-developing-resilience-w-matt-caldaroni-from-mind-body-fusion/Support the show (https://www.patreon.com/goaliehacks)
How does a 12-year old cope with his coach telling him he'll never achieve his dream of being a professional soccer player? Matt Caldaroni struggled with that issue for years and eventually did achieve his goal, though briefly. But the event led to him teaming with his brother Chris to create "Mind-Body Fusion," a company that helps young athletes develop the resiliency tools they need.

How I Battled Crohn's Disease Right After My Pro Debut Every competitor desires to stay healthy and never fall ill. In fact, in our daily routine, we all do everything possible to facilitate a healthy lifestyle and keep diseases at bay. Unfortunately, with all the effort, sometimes life presents challenges that are beyond us, posing a threat to this very sport that we cherish. This is not to scare you but to help you prioritize your health as well as encourage you, should you be facing a similar health challenge. Because you should never suffer in silence. Today we are sharing our conversation with Shelby Pierce. She gets to share how she fell ill with Crohn's disease shortly after she turned pro forcing her to stop competing, how the illness affected her emotionally as well as how she got back on stage again. Shelby Pierce is an IFBB Bikini pro and a coach with Body Fusion, working with competitors and lifestyle clients. Shelby has been competing for almost four years and she earned her pro card at the 2017 IFBB North American Championships. Shelby is a perfect example of a courageous fighter who has just bounced back on stage after a long hiatus from battling Crohn's disease. She hopes to help more girls reach their dreams in the sport. Takeaways Surround yourself with the right people Be focused You're not alone Take the time make sure your health is in a good place Don't do this if your health isn't where it should be Stay positive Find the other way Don't be hesitant to reach out Take your time; the stage is always there There's not a one size fits all; find what best works for you Take in every single moment of the journey Work hard and stay very consistent Do not give up; keep working towards it Important Questions [00:04:45] How many years have you been competing? [00:11:40] What happened after your pro debut? [00:12:47] Could you tell us what is Crohn's disease? [00:16:57] How did your diet and exercise change after you were diagnosed? [00:18:52] During this time, did you ever think that you were going to be able to compete again? [00:19:15] How did this affect you emotionally? [00:21:23] What are some steps you took to turn everything right side up? [00:22:35] What advice would you give to someone dealing with the same disease in the sport? [00:23:54] What was your offseason transition like? [00:31:42] How is prep now different from before? [00:35:11] What is your mission as a coach? [00:36:20] What are your goals moving forward? In truth we'd not heard of the Long Island Sound boys but they sent us a bunch of their music which instantly blew us away. Rich and textured electronic sounds with an abundance of moody feelings. Definitely check out the EPs on @bobby-analog's Body Fusion and their own SIGNS OF SPACE. For now though let the European death heatwave fade away with an hour's slice of the duo's finest selections. Our 2nd instalment of Bside Incoming comes from Belfast Dj and Producer Bobby Analog! The Body Fusion head honcho is one of the most exciting talents in the Irish scene. Playing on the Boiler Room stage at last years AVA Festival, a stellar performance that helped boost his profile to where it is now. We had Bobby in for a filmed Bside, which should have been episode 16. Sadly after a great set, some technical issues meant the recording was unusable. Thankfully Bobby, being the gentleman he is, offered to record one for us at home and send it to us for Episode 2 of Bside Incoming. One of the first tracks that brought him to our attention was his track Luvwomanboogie - https://youtu.be/DKRNdYHF1KA Check out some of his other releases here - https://www.discogs.com/artist/5228303-Bobby-Analog-2
We're in session with Dublin-via-Berlin duo Long Island Sound. The guys have a penchant for tracks full of tension and colour, the latest sampling of which can be found on their 12" for Bobby Analog's Body Fusion Records. We air a stunning mix to celebrate, before FP vibe controller Sam runs us ragged. @longislandsoundeire

There has been a wave of musicians and producers to emerge from across the sea in recent times. Bobby Analog is a Northern Irish label boss and producer who has risen to prominence as of late following the launch of his own Body Fusion imprint. It is here that he has released three of his own EP's drawing upon a deep heritage based in hip hop, funk, soul and disco. It was his love for the above which inspired him to purchase a set of turntables and ever since his own musical lineage has evolved with great promise. In the present he is best known for his take on house music, which draws influence from the rough and rugged era of hip hop and street jams in the 80's and 90's. Sample orientated and jackin' by nature his music is purpose built for the dancefloor with a might kick to boot.

Episode 9 - “The Bachelor” 4 years later, and I’m still not over it. I felt like journaling, but decided to speak to all of you instead. In this episode, I explain a recent experience that emotionally triggered me and brought a heightened awareness to my ego and showed me where I am still clinging on. Although my experience on “The Bachelor” was brief, and happened several years ago, the feelings it ignited in me still linger. I have come so far, but I always have learning, growing and healing to do in all areas of life. There is no destination with any of this, and all I can do is notice when I am being unconsciously triggered, and shine my light even brighter in those areas so that I can awaken to my authentic self and help you continue to do the same. Here are the main takeaways from this experience and this episode - An important skill to acquire and refine is the ability to distinguish between an opportunity to be seized and a temptation to be resisted. (I still need a lot of work in this area.) “The slightest reaction reflects the subtlest clinging. This is a meaningful clue to where you are still holding on. Simply watching your reaction makes everything a teaching.” - Ram Dass Life is happening for us, not to us. So as long as you search for meaning in your past and present experiences, you can find gratitude for the simple fact that it is bringing you one step closer to full self-awareness and ultimately helping you become your most authentic self.
